My iTunes Account is out of control

Help!  I am a parent with 3 kids on my account.  We range from adult to 8 years old.  Is there a way to have the parent own the account, but then have 4 sub-accounts so that everything is separated?  My kids don't want to see my 80's music and I don't want me or my youngest to see the teenager music.  How do I keep it all together but separate it?  But then again, if we pay for music, I would like the option to share what we want.  Or, is my only option to create multiple iTunes accounts?  Is that even possible on one computer? Lots of questions...can anyone help?

As far as I'm aware the only way to do it is create seperate User Accounts on your PC or Mac & then set up iTunes libraries from there.

Transfer the iTunes folder from your old computer to your new computer. It's in your My Music >> iTunes folder. You'll probably need an external hard drive to do this. Make sure you upgrade the old and the new computers to the latest iTunes before transferring your music to the new machines.

  • ICloud/iTunes Account Locking out Active Directory Account [?]

    The facts:
I have been having this problem for the past four+ months.
My work email address is my iTunes account name
My work AD account gets logged out most evenings, sometimes within an hour of leaving work, sometimes late at night
I know when my account is logged out because my iPhone will ask for my Exchange password, or I cannot get into Outlook Web Access
When my iTunes/iCloud account password is the same as my Active Directory password this does not happen. When this was the case earlier this year I went 90 days without a lockout. The day after my password expired and I changed my password - locked out again
Exchange recognizes two mobile devices, my iPad2 and my iPhone 4, as mobile ActiveSync clients
I have reset both of these devices, updated to the latest iOS and reinstalled and reconfigured my apps
This occurs even when neither of these devices has an active ActiveSync account set up to use my work Exchange server
The keyrings (Mac) and Credential Managers (PC) of all my home machines have been sanitized
Mail (Mac) and Outlook are not configured on my home machines, and they are not affiliated with the work domain in any way
From these facts it seems to me that the issue is:
There exists a machine attempting to reach my Exchange account using a password I have used in the past
If it is a computer that I have possession of, it must be an iDevice, because this behavior has still occurred when all others have been powered off
If it is an iDevice under my control then it is something in iCloud/iTunes, because it does not depend on having the Exchange account configured on either iDevice and those are the only applications with knowledge of my work email address
    So,
If it is my iCloud/iTunes account then WHY in the name of all that is sacred is it hitting my work Exchange server and locking out my account?
I can think of no other -possible- devices or online services that have both that password, and knowledge of that email address. I remotely wiped an old phone that might have had the email account configured.
    Help?

I would very much like to hear from someone at Apple regarding this as I'm having a very similar if not the exact same issue.

  • Can you set up an iTunes account w/out a credit card?

Ok, here's the deal... I'm buying a 10 year old an iPod Touch for Christmas.  She needs to have her own iTunes account for purchasing stuff (apps, music, etc.) Is it possible to set up an iTunes account WITHOUT adding a credit card? I need her to operate completely off of iTunes gift cards so that I can 1) controll how much she spends, 2) avoid having to either enter my password every time she wants to buy a Justin Bieber song with my debit card, and 3) avoid random charges popping up on my credit card whenever she does purchase said Bieber songs by letting her know the password in an attempt to accomplish task #2...
Is there a way to set up an iTunes account without entering billing information? So that the account operates on 100% iTunes credit?  Is there a parental setting to block access to the card used to set up the account? With all the kids with iPods there has GOT to be a way to set this up... or else there are probably a LOT of broke parents chasing after them....

Glad this helped! You might want to check this article on Understanding Restrictions on the iPad: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4213.

Two I-Tunes libaries (Mine & My Wifes) Both Machines running out of space.
My FIX Moving All itunes account Libary etc to new PC with NAS 2tb drive (IOMEGA)or Seagate or LaCie or etc......
Can i copy the Bulky Library files ITUNEs from My Wifes laptop to the NAS drive ?
Is this easy to do ?
ALSO She will still have itunes on her laptop just none of the Bulky Library !
As the ITUNES program will be Pointed to her files (Library on NAS drive ) ?
If someone has done a walkthrough of something like this id really appreciate it?
LASTLY I did hear with itunes new Updates that it stops NAS Drives Streaming Media ? (SO is a NAS drive No use if apple are no allwing the streaming for itunes Server)

By default, the ITL is always on the C: drive.
SO it seems you moved yours to the exHD. Just moving it doesn't do anything, though...did you ever do a shift-start of itunes and use it as your library?
Pressing AND HOLDING the shift key until you get a prompt from ituens to choose a library ITL file.
I would do that now before you go any further, to make sure of which library files you want to use.
I would assume the one with the most recent date is the one you want.
iTunes uses the last library opened. You don't always have to do a shift-start, in other words.
However if at any point you start itunes without the exHD connected, it automatically goes back to the C: drive.
In that case, you WOULD need to do another shift-start to use the ITL on the exHD>
    It's option-start on a Mac, BTW.
You can move the whole folder over to your new MBP and do an option-start.
    Clear as mud?

  • How do i sync Itune accounts with out loosing all of my music on one account

I am a new Itunes account user and would like to sync with my mothers account because that is where all of my music is but i do not know how to sync two seperate accounts to do so. If you know how or have anny other way of helping please do so. Thank you

If it is purchased music, it will stay with her account.  Purchased from the iTunes store.  If the music is from stuff you or she ripped (imported from) cd's, that can be synced to your phone using iTunes.

am I able to add more money to iTunes account without buying a card

You'll need to get someone to give you an iTunes gift certificate, or you'll need to enter in a credit card. The only other option is PayPal, and that is only available if you're in the US.

  • Deauthorizing all 5 iTunes accounts w/out having a authorized computer??

I'm stuck and I got rid of all my other computers without deauthorizing them.
Does anybody know how to deauthorize all 5 of the other computers without having an authorized computer??

You can't deauthorise 'dead' installations or computers you no longer have access to individually. However once you reach the limit of 5 authorisations you have the option to deauthorise them all in one go from your iTunes account and start over. *Just note that you can only use this option once a year*: About iTunes Music Store Authorisation and Deauthorisation
To deauthorise all computers associated with your account:
    1. Click iTunes Store in the Source pane.
    2. If you're not signed in to the store, click the Account button, then enter your account name and password.
    3. Click the Account button again (your ID appears on the button), enter your password, and then click View Account.
    4. In the Account Information window, click Deauthorize All.

  • Can you sync your ipad & iphone to the same itunes account yet or?

its been over year now and the iPad 2 is out, its apparently evident that when something goes wrong no one response here with a solution, can you or can you not sync both a iPad and iPhone with the same iTunes account flawlessly yet, because i helped over 4 people to do this and every single method seems to be work arounds.
has anyone figured out how to sync both devices to the same itunes account with out work arounds after all your apps get scattered outside their folders?

You have always been able to sync as many devices as you like to one account/library/computer.
Plug in one device, select what you want to sync, then sync.
    Unplug that device.
Plug in the other device, select what you want to sync, then sync.

  • Can you put apps from two iTunes accounts on one device?

I just got an iPhone from work. I would like to put some apps I got for my personal iPod on it, but I also plan to purchase some work-related apps using a work-account (charged to the company card). Is this possible? From what I understand it would be possible to put apps I purchased for the iPod onto the iPhone, but I can't find if I can then use a new account to purchase more apps for the iPhone.
Can someone let me know if this would work? Otherwise I'll just buy the apps using my personal account and get reimbursed (not as neat, but I can't use the work account for personal apps!)

    Yes, you can do that.
You just have to remember from which accounts you bought which Apps when updating them, as you won't be able to update an App bought in one iTunes Account from another iTunes Account.
As far as purchasing new Apps goes - just log-in to the required iTunes Account on the computer you sync your phone to (which should only be one computer), purchase the Apps then sync them to the phone. If you want to purchase Apps from the other iTunes Account, log-out in iTunes then log in with the other iTunes account.
It might just be easier to purchase everything through the one personal account though...
