My itunes says that my ipod is synced with another library when it is not and cannot update or sync without wiping it and all its data
My itunes says that my ipod is synced with another library when it is not and cannot update or sync without wiping it and all its data
Can anyone help me
Syncing to a new iTunes library or computer will erase your ipod. Only if you back up your iPod manually before syncing, you can restore your device from that backup again. A manual backup does not include the sync process.
Do this:
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your iPod to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your iPod without syncing.
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
All media content will be erased during the first sync, but you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the ipod for the first time.
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.
There is 3rd party software out there, but not supported by Apple, see this thread:http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2013615&tstart=0

Iphone says it is already synced with another library, but it's not
My iphone says it is already synced with another library, but it's not.
I have the exact situation and it is frustrating me. All I want is my original iTunes Library back!
I have not synced to another computer what so ever. Does anyone know how to set my iTunes library to my original? I don't want to erase everything and start from new.
Please let me know! -
Also i cannot see any other library on the itunes account. There are no options to change which library i am connected to even if there was another itunes library. It will just be a waste of money other wise....gutted.
I hope that makes sense. Ives tried for aaages to figure this out.
Thanks
FloraYes i've tried all of that. I've turned it all the way on and off and erased all of my music and put it back on and nothing works. And with the breaking up CDs and putting into compilation categories i have already fixed all of that stuff. It's fine it just doesn't show up in the list of artists. I can find the album in the songs category and the albums category it's just it doesn't show tha name of the artist. All of the other albums that i downloaded before i updated my itunes to th most recent update are fine. It's just the two that i downloaded afterwards. Thanks for trying though.

Your iPod is synced with another library. IT'S NOT! HELP
Ok. If you think you know the answer to this, just read please. I work for apple and I've used apple products a long time so I know you can erase the iphone entirely and re enter the songs. I've done that three or four times with this iphone already. I'm sick of it.
I shouldn't have to do this AGAIN. Is this a problem with my wife's macbook? Because this is a recent swap. The previous Iphones had lots of problems alsoWe're talking about her phone. It only gave me this problem when last night I was playing songs from her macbook through my imac using her shared library. That's all I can think of that might have caused this problem. But I just played music from my imac to her macbook using shared and it didn't deactivate MY iphone.
Can anyone figure this one out?Sync is only oneway, from PC to your device. Unless you have the music on your PC, iTunes is going to wipe out what you have on your device if you are syncing to a new library.
You can only transfer Purchased music over to Itunes on your PC.

As for you own music, you may have to use a third party software. A good Free one is called Sharepod which you can download from Download.com here:

My laptop would not sync to my iPad because the iPad is hosted on my desktop. So it said to me to delete my library on my desktop. I do not want to do that as I have all my music on my desktop. I did home sharing. But when I tried to sync my iPod to my desktop. It froze up. I had to shut down everything to recover. Now I do not want to fire up iTunes on my desktop as it will freeze up again. Anyone with some ideas to fix this?
Thanks

ITunes 8 - thinks my iPod was synced with another library
Installed iTunes 8 - no issues with installation.
Plugged in my iPod - message pops up that my iPod is synced with another library (which it has not been). Choices are to Erase and Sync, or Transfer Purchases.
If I Erase and Sync I'm going to lose all of my playlists.
But if I Transfer Purchases won't I lose anything I've downloaded since the last time I synced?Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive: Apple Support Communities

IPod Touch "already synced with another library", Corrupt Backup?
I plugged my iPod into the only PC it's ever been plugged into today, and it came up with "This Ipod is already synced with another library" when I tried to sync it. I tried a variety of solutions I found on the internet, but none seemed to work.
So, I decided to give in and do "Erase and Sync". Before I did that, however, I created a new encrypted backup of the iPod using the option in the iPod summary window. I erased the iPod and re-synced, so it has all of my music and apps on it now.
However, whenever I try to restore from the backup, I get a message akin to "The restore cannot complete due to an error" (with no identification of the error. Immediately following this, the iPod begins to say "This iPod is already synced with another library" again, and I'm forced to start over.
The iPod is in a workable condition - all of my music and apps were saved, after all. However, none of my settings are in place, and I would really like to avoid having to set everything up again. Is there a way to un-corrupt the backup (or undo whatever has happened to it) so that I can get my settings back? Or am I out of luck?I think that, for some reason, none of the backups that were being made are listed any longer. The only ones listed are four that have timestamps after I erased, one with the earliest timestamp that's the encrypted backup, and another without a time stamp that I'm also assuming is later. I might give that one a try, but I'm not sure that it will work...

Ipod synced with another library
The hard drive on my Mac crashed and I had it replaced. Now, although I am using the same iTunes account as I have for years, the same one that my iPod is synched with, when I plug in my iPod to synch to iTunes it says that the iPod is synched with another iTunes library. I don't want to loose all the songs I have on my iPod that I had copied from my original hard drive/computer, what can I do?
If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod to a computer
The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:

iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)

There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows or a Mac. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod -
First, right after updating my iTunes to the latest version, my iTunes will not display album covers. It says exactly "iTunes is unable to browse album covers on this computer." It has never been an issue before, but, anyway... that is where it all started.
Then I read a bunch of Apple Support topics on the subject, and it directed me to replace my library file with a previous library file. So, I did, and now, not only will my albums not display, but my iPod Touch will not sync with my computer, the only computer I have ever used it on. It says that the ipod is synced with another library and asks me if I want to erase and sync (I have my music on my computer, but I will lose all of my apps and such).
What can I do to resolve this? Thanks for the help.Syncing to a new iTunes library or computer will erase your ipod. Only if you back up your iPod manually before syncing, you can restore your device from that backup again. A manual backup does not include the sync process.
Do this:

Just downgraded back to iTunes 10.7 and copied music from ipod classic to itunes using houdini, but how do i copy the playlists from the ipod when itunes says that my ipod has been synced to another itunes library?
Thank you again for all of your help!! I really appreciate it!
I think I am following -- I was able to upload to my iPhoto and all photos and videos are there that is a plus! I tried to create an Event in my iPhoto and put all of my photos in that event but for some reason, now my iTunes it not recognizing that Event in my iPhoto. It is not allowing me to import just that event at the moment but I may be doing something wrong. At least all of my pics and vids are in iPhoto so that is a plus and I know they are at least saved somewhere. Just for some reason, my iTunes it not locating the event that I created with only those photos.
Thank you for letting me know about my contacts! How do I know if I have the contacts app?
Also, I had no clue that my iCloud could be backed up via cellular data! However, is this a new feature with the most updated iOS?? Unforutnatly I am like 2 iOS updates behind because I don't have enough storage on my phone. I still get the notification that my phone needs to be plugged in and connected to wifi in order to back up to the cloud :-(
How can I sync using USB? Right now when i click on the info tab for my iPhone in my iTunes this is the answer that I get -- I am a little unclear as to what it means.
Sync Contacts:
Your contacts are being synced with you iPhone over the air from iCloud. Over-the-air sync settings can be changed on you iPhone
Sync Calendars:
