My iTunes v.10.6.3.25 is intermittently refusing to open. Sometimes re-booting my laptop works, sometimes not. I just put the computer to sleep, and when I woke it up, iTunes started automatically. Any thoughts?

My iTunes v.10.6.3.25 is intermittently refusing to open. Sometimes re-booting my laptop works, sometimes not. I just put the computer to sleep, and when I woke it up, iTunes started automatically (I had been trying to open it just before by clicking on a song file in my Documents window, and that's the song that started playing when the pc woke up). I went to my iTunes Help and clicked Updates/download iTunes 10.7 twice, but got nothing. Now, Im wondering if I should downloacd the entire 10.7, or whether that would overwrite all my files, erasing my songs. Anybody know? Thanks.

Here's what I did:
First I tried the Winsock reset in the Command prompt. Nothing changed.
Next, I tried the instructions on http://http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4123. The only other program that came up on the 'Winsock Providers' tab on the program was 2 Windows Live applications, which I can do without. So I deleted all Windows Live Applications.
I did the Winsock reset in the Command Prompt again and rebooted my comp.
Unfortunately, nothing has changed. iTunes keeps freezing at various stages of the sync, then shows the candy cane-striped bar with either the words 'Finishing sync' or 'Cancelling sync', before showing the Apple logo.
Sometimes, iTunes gets to the syncing stage - "Copying # of ####" - where it will trudge through the first, second and third tracks before flashing "Copying 4 of ####" for a split second and I catch "Cancelling sync" briefly before the Apple logo appears.
Again, I've repeated the steps I mentioned in my previous post. Does ANYONE know when the new version of iTunes is set to be released?! This one is driving me INSANE, to say the least!!

We're all users here...not pros...so you'll get few definitive answers on a forum with varying opinions about almost every subject.
My opinion would be this: Apple designed the Time Capsule for Time Machine to automatically backup all the files on your Mac and other Macs in the household on a regular basis and provide a way to retrieve a file that had been deleted recently by mistake. It's a pretty good router as well.
If you check the info about the Time Capsule on Apple's site, the main features mentioned are backup of your Macs and a dual band wireless network capability.
The Time Capsule was never designed to be a media server housing audio, video and other multi-media files and has never been promoted as such. Nevertheless, some users seem to have adopted the stance that this should be one of the benefits of the device, if not a main feature.
There may be a need for media server type device, but the Time Capsule, at least at this time, is not the answer. If you feel otherwise, you might want to speak directly to Apple and let them know via Time Capsule Feedback.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Audiobooks are a one-time only download from the store. If you still have your old and haven't copied to over to your computer's iTunes library then you can do so by connecting that phone to your computer and doing File > Devices > Transfer Purchases - it should copy over to the Books paer of your iTunes library (Audiobooks if you are using a Mac with OS X Mavericks on it). You can then sync it to your new phone.

I deleted the songs from my desktop (iMac), then I used itunes match to reload the songs back on my desktop from my laptop. When they reappeared on my desktop, then I right-clicked on the songs and clicked on the option to add to icloud. This however did not work, and they just duplicated into icloud, but they were "greyed out" and unuseable. I hope I'm explaining myself clearly? In other words, the songs seem to be trying to go into the cloud, but they are greyed out in my library and cannot download. It is as if they are ghosts? My songs do play fine when I transfer them via itunes match, and everything appears normal. They just won't transfer via the cloud. As I said before, every other song in my library always work fine via the could, but only the songs off this one album that I bought from itunes in 07' will not work???

If the device has been used as designed, the pics and via taken with the device would have regularly been copied off to a computer.
The first step in the update process via iTunes on the computer is a backup.
Restore the device from the most recent backup.
If data is lost, then it is merely the fault of the user for not backing up the device or saving their data regularly.
Once the device is in recovery mode, the ONLY option is to restore.

ITunes will not open in Windows 7 for one User. All I get is the Licence Agreement pane and when I click YES nothing further happens. I have set up a second user and iTunes opens without problem in that User window.

Clearly something is blocking the main user(administrator) from opening the iTunes programme and I cannot find a solution.

Yes I carried out the suggested procedure in safe mode , which did not resolve the issue and so this is what led me to set up a second User account. iTunes opened without problem in this second account and so I looked at the User-specific troubleshooting but I just could not locate the iTunes Preference files no matter how much searching I did.
I also tried uninstalling and re-installing but the problem persists. Would be very grateful for any further advice.

Entering your new password on your iPhone will not affect the laptop, as mentioned in this article:

Try going to iTunes>Preferences>Devices and delete the existing backup so iTunes creates an entire new one vice changing the existing one.

When trying to print any kind of document on my wife's Mac Pro, the File>Print Command will not work. She just downloaded an update to Microsoft Office and the problem began after that, but it also applies to other non-Microsoft Applications. Did your wife also apply the Feb. 2 Security Update 2012-01 v. 1.0 from Apple? That update contains a bug which disables printing and some other functions in applications that were originally written for the PowerPC processor and which require Rosetta to run on Intel Macs. Fortunately, yesterday Apple released v. 1.1 of the update, which resolves the problem. Run Software Update again to install the revised update.
