My iTunes won't open after last update. Can anybody help me?
I had similar problem this time and last time when I upgrade/update iTune, and subsequently solved the problem through the help of this person. You may give it a try and see if this works for you. It works for me now and then. Good luck.

ITunes won't open after OS update to Yosmite
ITunes won't open after OS update, ITunes has been updated, it won't open or bounce. It will not allow me to move it to trash or reinstall it. I have already updated to OS X Yosmite two times as directed by apple, I have rebooted in safe made as well as Command/Option/P/R before start up. I have opened console/system log to see if there is anything going on but when I click on Itunes nothing happens, not even so much as half a line of script. I'm stumped. If I wanted someone to tell me to turn it off and on again I'd just watch IT Crowd. please help
Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities
If you head into your applications folder and locate iTunes. Right click iTunes and show package contents. In there there will be a contents folder --> MacOS --> double click on the iTunes terminal icon. This should force iTunes to open via a terminal window and at the very least it will tell you what it is getting stuck on. -
ITunes no longer opening after last update.
ITunes not opening after last update on my main user. Second user is fine however accesses different library.
Computer freezes when attempting to open ITunes. Have also searched for the sync services file but is not located under reveal in folder or go to options.
Apologies I am not the best tech savy person and have read other posts trying to solve the problem. Other posts asked for the following reports.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated - we are an apple household and this is effecting everything!

ITunes won't open after I updated to 8.0.1
Hello,
Here's a little background on what's been going with itunes before the recent problem. These past couple weeks I've tried to update my itunes to 8.0.1 through the Apple Software Update. It never worked and at the end of the process it would tell me to try again or do it manually. Also, I downloaded two new videos today that were already in the correct format. I added it to the itunes library with no problem and tried to convert the videos to the correct format just incase it wasn't. It gave me the message that the video was already in the correct format. When I tried to sync it with my ipod it told me the videos weren't in the correct format.
Ok so for the overall the main problem right now is itunes won't open at all. I manually downloaded the update and I restarted the laptop after I finished updating itunes. Since then, itunes won't open and continuously gives me this message "The itunes application could not be opened. an unknown error occurred (-50)". I've restarted my computer a few times and looked up as many forums and solutions I could, but no luck. Please, if someone could help, let me know. Thank you.Refer this article to remove SC Info.sidb file

If that does not work, Repair your Quicktime. START/ CONTROL PANEL/PROGRAMS n FEATURES/highlight QUICKTIME and click REPAIR -
ITunes won't open after installing update.
After installing the latest itunes update, itunes won't open at all. I click on it and it just won't open. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling and it still doesn't work.
hello Nevada!
After installing the latest itunes update, itunes
won't open at all. I click on it and it just won't
open.
are you getting an error message? if so, what does it
say?
or are you getting no error messages whatsoever? if
so, could you let us know the results of the
following observations?
reboot your PC. open Task Manager to the Processes
Tab. now try to launch itunes again.
does an itunes.exe process appear in Task Manager? if
so, does it persist in there, or does it disappear
after a few seconds?
love, b
b noir - i have been following your advice and i want to thank you for taking your time to try and solve these problems for ipod users.
i have been following this message board each day for the past week - ever since my iTunes stopped working. i have not yet seen anyone who is receiving the same error message as myself.
like most others, i downloaded the recent update for iTunes - since then, iTunes will not open. i have tried most of the other proposed solutions to no avail, such as downloading a stand-alone version of quicktime, making sure my msconfig start-up has the correct check marks, etc.
the iTunes set-up completes with no problem - i have tried installing by saving the file to my hard drive and then running and also by running the program straight from the download window. same results.
once i go to open iTunes, i receive the following error message: "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. if you were in the middle of something, the information you were working on might be lost. Please tell Microsoft about this problem." Then I click "Send Error Report" just hoping I will receive a required update to make this work.
i was wondering if you could attempt to help me resolve this issue? i have my music saved to my external hard drive, so i am in no danger of losing my music. however, i need to open iTunes to update my iPod.
thanks in advance for your help.

Itunes won't open after newest update
I recently updated itunes on my macbook to the newest version. Since the update, I cannot get itunes to open. I also tried playing cd in my mac to see if it would open itunes that way but nothing happens. Can anyone help me with this? I am not very technical, so simple instructions would be super appreciated. I have a MacBook with Mac OS X version 10.6.8 all updates available for computer updated. I tried to re-install the update and that did not help either.
hello Nevada!
After installing the latest itunes update, itunes
won't open at all. I click on it and it just won't
open.
are you getting an error message? if so, what does it
say?
or are you getting no error messages whatsoever? if
so, could you let us know the results of the
following observations?
reboot your PC. open Task Manager to the Processes
Tab. now try to launch itunes again.
does an itunes.exe process appear in Task Manager? if
so, does it persist in there, or does it disappear
after a few seconds?

b noir - i have been following your advice and i want to thank you for taking your time to try and solve these problems for ipod users.
i have been following this message board each day for the past week - ever since my iTunes stopped working. i have not yet seen anyone who is receiving the same error message as myself.
like most others, i downloaded the recent update for iTunes - since then, iTunes will not open. i have tried most of the other proposed solutions to no avail, such as downloading a stand-alone version of quicktime, making sure my msconfig start-up has the correct check marks, etc.

ITunes won't open after installing update for 10.4
I updated my iTunes to the most recent version and restarted my computer. When my computer turned back on, I tried to open iTunes but it just keeps giving me the "The application iTunes quit unexpectedly" message and asks me to either ignore report or relaunch. Every time I click relaunch, the message comes up again. My OS is Mac OSX Version 10.5.8. Anyone know what to do?

ITunes won't open after QuickTime update (Windows XP)
Hi all,
Yesterday I was prompted by Apple Software Update to install the newest version of QuickTime, and I always comply. However, after the update now iTunes will not open at all! No error message, just the hourglass cursor for a few seconds to indicate that it's loading, then a regular cursor... and then nothing.
I tried connecting my iPod Touch since it's configured to auto-sync upon connect, still won't open. I then googled the problem and came across some methods that I don't want to try just yet, since they involve reinstalling iTunes. Also tried uninstalling Bonjour from the Add/Remove Programs menu, but this apparent solution did not work either.
I run Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 32-bit. This started happening after I updated to QuickTime 7.7 (from 7.6 I believe). Is there a fix for this problem without reinstalling? If possible, I don't want to lose my library settings. Thanks!Could you check something further for me please, df? Is your QuickTime Player also currently failing to launch (with or without an error message)?

ITunes won't open after latest update
Hi, I've just downloaded the latest version of iTunes today and since then it won't open!
It tries to open - i.e. the iTunes logo sits there in my taskbar, but when I hover my mouse over it, it just comes up as though it's 'blank' and left-clicking on it does nothing.
Oddly enough right-clicking on it gives me the usual options - eg 'close window', 'go to iTunes store' ... but if i then click on any of those options it does nothing.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! This is what worked for me and others--original post found on this thread: Yosemite slow opening and cannot open itunes
This solved my question by Linc Davis.......
According to multiple reports on this site, Apple Support has given the following instructions to others who had a similar problem. I can't confirm that this procedure works or that it's necessary, but it won't leave you any worse off than you are now.
First, back up all data.
Select the iTunes icon in the Applications folder and open the Info window. Click the padlock icon in the lower right corner to unlock the settings.
In the Sharing & Permissions section, change the Privilege setting for each Name in the list to Read & Write. Close the window. If the settings aren't visible, click the disclosure triangle on the left so that it points down.
You should now be able to drag the iTunes application to the Trash and empty. Your iTunes data won't be affected.
Click the iTunes link at the top of this page, download the installer package and run it.
If iTunes still doesn't launch, or if you can't complete the procedure, reinstall the OS. -
ITunes won't open after failed update, what do I do?
I tried to update my iTunes to the latest version and it failed. Now when I try to open iTunes I get the error message "The procedure entry point AVCFPlayerItemDurationChangedNotification could not be located in the dynamic link library AVFoundationCF.dll." and after I click okay I get another error message that says "iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. Error 7 (Windows error 127)" I restarted my computer and it's still the same. Quicktime opens and runs fine. I was going to just uninstall and then reinstall it but I don't want to lose all of my music or playlists-- Help! what do I do??

ITunes won't open after latest update on Windows8
I did that latest update a day or so ago - now iTunes just hangs and never opens on my machine.
If I shut it down via task manager - I cannot open as I then get unable to open application due to another user using
HELP pleaseFor general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

iTunes won't open after update - help, please; MacBook Pro, Mac OSX 10.6.8, iTunes version 11.1.5.
i had a problem similar to yours and better yet, i have the fix for it. i downloaded maverick 4 months ago and was without itunes ever since. all itunes icon did was bounce. itunes would never open and whats more, is when i would try to update it, i would get a "thank you for downloading itunes!" page , but the download would never work. so i scoured the net for solves. nothing that worked. <4 months later> then last night i took a new approach. i decided even though maverick would not allow me to uninstall itunes, i would find a way to uninstall itunes. then i would reinstall back to 11.1.5 i was successful and heres what i did.
step one-
Back up your iTunes Library.itl file, found under ~/Music/iTunes
(even tho i didnt, i only had 3 artists in there at the time. and they didnt get erased but i advise you back up just in case.)
step two-
download itunes 10.7 from apple. i used this link Download it from Apple here
(i pulled the link from Aarons website (awesometast.com). you download 10.7 however you want but i used the link above and have had no issues).
although im not sure you need to do this step ( you may be able to download 11.1.5 itunes without 10.7, i did because i was following intructions from http://awesometoast.com/downgrading-to-itunes-10-7-from-itunes-11-on-osx/
step 3-
open Terminal
step 4-
enter in these 3 commands hitting return after each line. 1st line nothing seems to happen, 2nd line nothing seems to happen and 3rd line gives you a warning and requires password to continue. when i did it, my password didnt appear as i entered it and i hit return without looking, so i entered it in again, although im not sure i had to the 2nd time.
killall iTunes
killall "iTunes Helper"
sudo rm -rf /Applications/iTunes.app/
step 5-
drag off and dump the itunes icon (which now has the ? shadow in it) off your dock.
step 6-
install 10.7 itunes you downloaded earlier. (not sure if this part is neccesary. you may be able to just download 11.1.5 but i downloaded 10.7 because i was following Aarons steps.) itunes now works.
step 7-
go to apple and update to 11.1.5 itunes. install it. open it and you have itunes 11.1.5 in perfect working order. assuming you have a decent internet speed for the downloads, the whole process takes very little time.
with those steps above, you can solve itunes just bouncing and not launching issues and also the "thank you for downloading" and nothing downloads issue. enjoy. also i would like to give a shout out to http://awesometoast.com and thank Aaron for the knowledge that enabled me to get itunes back into my life.
