My itunes wont open ! No error message

My itunes wont open ! When I click on the icon nothing opens, not even an error message. Iv tried opening it from Windows Task Manager > Processes > Itunes.exe but nothing seems to work ! Itunes doesnt open when I sync my iphone either ! Please help

I think I'm having the same problem as Vanessa (and a lot of others from the sound of it). When I click on my iTunes shortcut the hourglass pops up for a second and then nothing happens. I can't access the music store from the net either (I get a message that says "Loading... Please wait" and then nothing happens). I've turned off my firewall (Norton Personal Firewall 2003)and that didn't help. I tried Lorraine's fix with installing the files in Norton one by one and telling them to be permitted and that didn't work. I also tried a stand alone installation of Quicktime and that helped some (the quickTime player window does now pop up for a split second before disappearing when I click Quicktime) but I still can't access the music store. I thought I'd try your suggestion of looking in the task manager for my itunes.exe file but I can't find the task manager. Where is it?

iTunes wont open I only get an error message that reads. "The folder iTunes cannot be found or created and is required. The default location for this folder is inside the My Music folder" My music is on an exernal hard drive and it worked before I upgraded and now it wont work.

it's best to leave the "My Music" folder on the C drive. it's a Windows special folder, so having it out on an external can cause weird problems if (say) the drive letter assignment for the external drive changes.
okay, here's the best place to start:
iTunes for Windows: "Disk is locked" or "iTunes folder cannot be found" when installing or opening iTunes
... but if you run into the complication where "My Music" doesn't appear as an option in TweakUI, try the alternate technique from the following Nigel Carpenter post:

ITunes wont open, getting error message, hard drive crash

i had my secondary hard drive die. My windows is on my C: all of my music was on my D:. Now iTunes wont open becuase it cant access D:. If I try to uninstall it tells me it cant find D:. If I try to re-install it says it cant find D:. I have cleaned the registry of iTunes, and it still wont reinstall. Any thoughts, thanks in advanced.

i DONT have norton
i used msconfig and disabled everything except windows and it still will not open
i tried to unistall and reinstall, same problem
can someone link me to a clean uninstall with itunes.

ITunes wont open. Error message has no text just red octagon with !

I plugged in my iPod this morning which is set to automatically launch iTunes. A window came up after several second but there was no text telling me what the error was.
The only thing showing in the window is a red octagon with an exclamation mark in the middle. Overlapping the bottom right portion of the octagon is the blue iTunes cd icon. There is also a button allowing me to close the window.
The system appears to be unaffected by this. I have tried running permissions, deleting the plist from Preferences, rebooting, but the same window keeps popping up.
Can anyone tell me what type of error this is and how to fix it?
I'm running a 1.42 GHz, G4 Mini with 1 GB of RAM. My iTunes music resides on an external firewire drive with the library files in the Music folder on my hard drive.

Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!

I have same problem on my XP lap top and Windows 7 PC. Apple have been investigating this problem for me for a week now without success so far. Understand it 's ongoing with other customers as well.
It is caused by an bit of program called APSDaemon supplied by Apple in latest i-Tunes. Your quick fix to enable you to open i-Tunes again is as follows:- open Task Manager (right click bottom toolbar), click on Task Manager, select Processes. Find APSDaemon, highlight and press END PROCESS. I-tunes will now re-open ok. You have to repeat this every time you want i-Tunes re-opened until you switchoff or restart.
A pain I know, but lets you keep going until Apple repair and release an update for i-Tunes

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

Itunes wont open - compatibility error...

hi,
today I had a problem with moving songs from itunes to ipod. have had this issue in the past which was fixed by using ipod updater.
this didnt seem to work so for first time in ages ran the itunes updater. I can no longer open itunes and get the following error.
Quicktime unavailable
itunes requires Windows 2000 or later
Please make sure compatibility mode is disbaled in the compatibility tab of the properties of itunes.exe
well....I tried to do this (I am not massively IT literate!), have tried selecting or deselecting compatibility on this tab....and still wont open....any ideas?

if I find the mp3 file on my hardrive and move it to ipod manually it still doesnt appear when I disconnect.
that's normal. for the ipod to recognise a song it needs to be transferred to the ipod via itunes rather than dragged and dropped with Windows Explorer. see the note at the end of this article:
iPod: Operating System or iTunes Reports the Disk is Full, But It Does Not Look Full
... try resetting the warnings on your ipod and trying another manual sync:

Itunes wont open up error 10310

About a week ago I tried opening up my iTunes and synching my ipod touch 32 gig (3rd Gen). Then it displayed, "The iTunes Application could not be opened. An unknown error occured (10310)" since then I have tried reinstalling itunes, and opening it daily. It's driving me nuts! Any suggestions?

this one scared the heck out of me, the first time i saw it reported here back in the itunes 5.0.0.35 days. of all things, it usually means that you've got a broken QuickTime.
try a careful standalone QT 7.0.4 reinstall:
download and save a copy of the QT 7.0.4 standalone installer to your hard drive. (we'll run the install from there rather than online.) switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install.

if that install goes through okay, does your itunes launch properly again?
(if you get an error message on the QT standalone reinstall, let us know what it says. include error message numbers if you're getting any.)

After installing the upgrade (7.1.1) now Itunes will not open. I've tried reinstalling, restarting, etc. but nothing works. When I try to open it I get "File or assembly menu hpqutils or one of it's attributes not found" Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Photoshop CS6 on subscription wont open, no error messages

Been using Photoshop on subscription over a year with no problems and yesterday I went to open it and it just wont open. No error messages, just the timing circle appears then disappears.
Tired closing it through task manager but it doesnt appear on the list.
Any ideas would be great

Im operating on Windows XP but when i open quicktime it wont run it simply pops up for a secound and vanishes there is also no error message.
with those symptoms, the first thing you should check for is a Qoologic adware infestation on your PC. the free trial version of Ewido has been catching and killing that for most folks:

Pscs6 wont open, Microsoft error message

I downloaded the Photoshop CS6 trial verion yesterday and it worked great for afew hours, but I closed it and now every time I try and open it there's an error message "Adobe Photoshop CS6 hs encountered a problem and needs to close" what could have cause this and how do I fix it? iTunes was working fine and then it wouldnt open up and it would say "iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes.
