My laptop is about to die.  Can I store my entire itunes library in icloud, then access it when I get a new computer?

That will take ages, buy an external drive (or a large enough flash drive) and copy it there, do it soon.

When I get my new computer, obviously I will download Itunes. My Ipod still has all the music on it and the external hard drive is ok.
I don't want to "erase" or lose any information when I sync with a new itunes that is "empty"
What are the steps? After I download Itunes and set the folder location to my external harddrive what is next? Will Itunes recognize my IPOD? Will it load the music/list from my ipd or external into itunes?
    Thanks in advance

  • Can you still access Adobe PDF SAVED FILES WHEN YOU GET A NEW COMPUTER

Can you still access Adobe PDF SAVED FILES WHEN YOU GET A NEW COMPUTER ? Do you loose the files you have saved on you old computer when you get another computer?

I may not be clear on what you are asking here but I'll try an answer anyway since that's the type of guy I am.
If you have PDF files on your old computer, you will need to transfer them to your new computer. You can use a flash drive or CD if needed.
But again, I think I'm not getting what you are really wanting to know. If I'm not, can you give us some more details?

  • How can you keep your songs when you get a new computer?

is it possible to bring music from your old computer to your new one? because i just bought a new mac and i want to get rid of the old one, but i have all my music on there and it would take forever to get it all on by CD and by buying on iTunes.

Any chance you have an iPod? ...

If not, then how about an external hard drive? They are very cheap these days and well worth it for backing up your iTunes and your Mac. You can buy or put together models that are, for example, in the 160-250GB range for under $100 easily.

  • Can/how do i make an iTunes library using data (songs, apps, e.t.c.) to my computer.

Not all my music is on my old computer, and no apps are. This is as I exported the library to my D: drive, added more stuff, while syncing to it, then re-imported it. My iPod is on iOS 4 and want to upgrade to 5, but if I do, then I will lose all my apps, and most of my music. I recently got a new computer with a new iTunes library (empty). Is there any way I can 'make' a new library using my iPod touch data, so I can get iOS 5?

    - Transfer iTunes purchases to the new computer:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
    - Transfer other music using a third-party program like one of those discussed here:
    Copy music
    - Connect the iPod to the new computer and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up.
    - Restore the iOd from that backup. This will also update the iPod's iOS.

  • HT203167 What can I do if my entire iTunes library is gone?

I went to add more money to my iTunes account and clicked on 'music' to see what songs I already had. It turns out that there was absolutely no music, apps, movies, etc. in my library. I found that very odd so I clicked 'restore purchases' and there were no purchases to restore. Everything was gone. There were about 900-1,000 songs and a few hundred apps,  about 50 books, ten movies or so, and some music videos. Please help my resolve this issue, because I cannot replace my whole iTunes library.

  • HT4914 can I still have my entire itunes library on a device or do i have to download from the cloud

Can I still have all my music on my ipod touch device or do I have to download from the cloud?
Also if I can only have it on the cloud how do I get the music whe I don't have a wifi connection?

What??  You asked how to get all your music on your phone at once rather than downloading it to your phone from iCloud.
Go to your purchased list in iTunes and download all your music to your iTunes library, as explained in the linked article.  Then sync it all to your phone using iTunes you're done.  The music will be stored locally on your phone and you won't have to download it again in the future.

  • HT4759 If my computer is about to die. Does ICloud store all my music. when I get a new computer how do I access it?

I have a pc and wanted to know if I cloud backs up my music in case of computer failure?

    1. It depends on what country you're in and whether or not the content is still available in the iTunes Store. The iCloud copy shouldn't be considered a substitute for a backup. If it didn't originally come from the iTunes Store, only if you've signed up for iTunes Match.
    2. Click here and follow the instructions.

  • Why is it that when i get a new computer i can only re-download previous songs not videos? Eg. Top Gear

    Please help me!

Apple has various license arrangements with its media vendors. If you can't redownload a specific song or video, it could be because Apple isn't allowed to let you download it more than once; or because Apple no longer carries that specific item in its store.
This is why it remains important to back up all your media downloads, even with the advent of redownloading from he iTunes Store and the coming features in iCloud and iTunes in the Cloud.

  • HT3819 I just bought my kids iPods.  How can we share music from my iTunes library without crossing over with text messages, etc?

I just bought my 3 kids iPods.  How can we share music from my iTunes library without crossing over with texts, apps, etc?

Create new IDs for each by:
Create a NEW account using these instructions. Make sure you follow the instructions. Many do not and if you do not you will not get the None option. You must use an email address that you have not used with Apple before.
Creating an iTunes Store, App Store, iBookstore, and Mac App Store account without a credit card
    Use that Id only for:
    - Settings>Messages>Send and receive and sign out your ID and sign into the new one. Make sure that only that ID email address is listed.
    - Settings>FaceTime sign out of your ID and sign into the new . Make sure that under You can be reached at only the new ID email address is listed
    - Settings>iCloud and sign out and sign in with the new one
Continue to the one one common ID for Settings>iTunes and App stores. That is what controls purchases.

Copy everything from your backup copy of your old computer to your new one.
Its wrong to assume that everyone has a backup copy.
    are you PC or Mac?

  • Got new Laptop, Can I transfer entire itunes library?

I bought a macbook today and don't want to use my older pc laptop. The problem is that my itunes library to which i sync my iphone is on my old laptop. What is the best way to go about making this transfer, if possible?
    Thanks!

Choose Consolidate Library from the Library section of the File menu, copy the iTunes folder(not just iTunes Music) to an external drive, put that folder on the new computer, launch iTunes, with the Option key held down, and point it to that library. Alternatively, back it up to CDs or DVDs and restore the backup on the new computer.

  • How do I transfer my iTunes library from an old, slow pc laptop to a newer faster pc laptop? Do I have to take a copy of my iTunes library on the hard drive of the old(er) pc laptop and load it onto the hard drive of my new(er) pc laptop?

How do I transfer my iTunes library from an old, slow pc laptop to a new(er), faster pc laptop? Do I have to make a copy of the iTunes library on the old pc laptop and re-install it on the new(er) pc laptop? Is it something that can de done using the actual iPod itself?

This is the method I would normally recommend:
Backup with this User Tip, restore the library to the new computer using the same tool, keep the backup up-to-date in future. Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer need to access protected content on it.
You can use your iPod classic to move your library to a new computer but if you don't already have a backup copy of the library (and your other important data) now is the time to think about it.
