My mac book pro fell of my desk, everything seems fine, but the dvd drive is not working properly, any suggestions
My mac book fell of my desk yesterday. All seems well, but I noticed today that the dvd drive is not working properly, it seems to want to keep ejecting the disk even when the disk is out, and it won't accept dvd's any more. Any suggestions o fellow apple users?
Back up EVERYTHING, then take it in to have them assess for any latent damage. Wouldn't want a similar "delayed reaction" from the hard disk drive, would we?

After Security updation of Windows 7 in Boot Camp (Mac Book Pro with Retina Display) on 13-Nov-2013, Windows 7 Desktop Gadgets are not working properly.
This is boot camp problem, because in other normal notebooks (e.g. SONY VAIO, Lenovo with Windows 7) the gadgets are working normally.

Have you reinstalled the latest Boot Camp Windows 7 drivers, just in case Microsoft overwrote some of them during the Windows 7 security update?

Have just down loaded iTUnes 10.5.2.(11) onto MacBook Pro and now the earphone port is not working. Any suggestions. Annie H
My System Preferences>Soundoutput screen does not have the "Use audio port for" field.
Does your MBP have two separate audio ports - one for line-in and one output port? Then you wan't see that selector.
but the port has started to work again....Reason???
Perhaps there was dirt or something in the jack and the contact was bad.
(or you accidentally put the plug into the line-in jack instead into the audio-out; that happened to me once ).

I tried playing a you tube video, but received a message prompt to download the latest version of Adobe Flash Player. The link to Adobe stated that there are issues with MAC OS X 10.7 and Flash Player 10.3. The new version did not download. Any Suggestion

My Mac Book Pro was really slow at everything and would kick me out of my photos every time i got on them. now it won't even allow me to log on. i put my password in and the screen will flash white and go back to the login page. HELP please...
There is nothing wrong with your Dell, it will work fine with any MacbookPro. I have been using Dell displays for over 12 years with many different Mac models. I have two 21" Ultra Sharp displays working side by side to design a Keynote presentation right now.
The issue your having is with the way Keynote takes control of the video output to both displays, it sends the presentation signal to one and the presenter display to the other, this is set up in;
Keynote preferences > Presenter display.
If you want to show a wesite or another app on either display, use application switcher:
press the the command key on the keyboard, then the tab key; a row of applications will show what applications are running, choose which one you want to show. Use command > tab to return to Keynote. -

No matter where I go, as soon as I turn on the Internet on my new Mac Book Pro, everyone else is no longer able to use the Internet. How can I fix this? You cannot. Copy everything you want form the old computer to the new one, then sync it.
it basically says you have to erase your iphone to sync to a new itunes!
Correct Iphone will sync, or manually manage, with one and only one computer/library at a time. Syncing, or manually managing, to another will indeed erase the current content. -

That's what Apple proposes in here Boot Camp: System requirements for Microsoft Windows
Personally I would double these amounts and add to that the diskspace needed for your Windows games.

I have been using time machine to back up my Mac Book Pro 3.1 to my Time Capsule. Now the Time machine hangs up on "calculating time remaining".

This Time Machine software worked satisfactory until Monday Nov, 10 2014 and I have backups until that time. For several years, the software deleted the oldest back up to save the latest one. This is acceptable to me as I have off site storage that is updated every 3 months. How do I get Time machine working again?I have spent a couple of days trying to respond to Linc Davis. Finally I figured it out . The following is a copy of data from my console from the initiation of a time machine backup until it gets stuck trying to calculate the time remaining. There is no indication that anything starts saving. I copied about 3 minutes of data. This is probably way too much data, but I do not know what is relevant.

My new Mac Book Pro came with someone elses CD in already in the Drive
Just received my new Mac Book Pro just yesterday.
I purchased it online via the apple store.
When I was playing around with it just before, I tried inserting an installation disk for Office Mac when I realised the CD wouldn't go into the drive.
After a while I realise a CD was already in there - it was someone elses scratched up blank CD with a bunch of Asian songs on it.
How does this happen?? Makes me wonder if i've been given some second hand computer!!
Anyone have any suggestions as to what I should do or maybe this has happened before to someone??"MADE IN CHINA"
But what isn't these days. My Mac Pro 3,1 was constructed in Cupertino, but it cost 19k. I guess Apple thought they should put that one together, for some reason.

No not really. If this is a brand new Macbook Pro take it back for a refund. Apple has a 14 day No Questions Asked return policy for Full refund.
Take it back, get the Full Refund (DO NOT LET THEM TRY TO FIX IT. YOU BOUGHT A NEW COMPUTER NOT ONE THAT HAS BEEN WORKED ON OR NEEDS TO BE FIXED) and then decide whether to buy another Macbook Pro or the iMac. Or you could return it, get the Full refund and buy some other brand computer. -
Ever since I updated to Yosemite my mac book pro keeps asking for Apple Id and password but will not accept them. What can I do?
Try the advice here. I had the same problem and it worked for me.
You have to delete the "SC Info" folder from /Users/Shared. You will have to use Terminal to enable you to see this folder first. Make sure iTunes is not running when you delete the "SC Info" folder
There is an article from Apple on this here. The "SC Info" folder contains iTunes authorization information.
I did this two weeks ago and iTunes accepted by login. I haven't been asked for my AppleID or password since.
