My Mac crashed. Can I retrieve the data somewhere that was entered before the crash?

I use numbers to organize all of my work. I hadn't saved the new information for about a day and a half and my Mac crashed. That's never happened before. When i restarted the computer, all of the new data that was entered since the last save was gone. Is there a way to get that information back? Isn't there an "autosave" on numbers? I just feel like I haven't looked in the right place. I pretty much NEED this info to do my job today and I'm trying not to flip out. Can someone please help???

I hope that now you will understand that computers aren't perfect tools and that if you don't take care to save your work from time to time, the chance to loose it is not null.
If you are unable to press cmd + s by yourself every ten minutes, you may
go to my iDisk :

Expand it and install the resulting application.

I think (and I'll double check) only the BBLink events will sync on a wired USB sync. I'm fairly certain of that.
You'll need to use your calendar syncing via an EAS email account (outlook.com, for instance, is free) to sync wirelessly. It works great. I use it and was a former tied to the USB sync guy as well... and I thought I was gonna die a painful death without it. I found more freedom this way.
This explains the process. But I don't think you'll get BBM Groups to sync.

• Can I retrieve a deleted video that was recorded with my iPad and not backed up?

I deleted a video that was recorded with my iPad & was not backed up. Is there any way to retrieve it?

No.

• HT201250 Can I retrieve a trashed folder that was emptied

I accidentally threw away an important folder and emptied trash. Can I take my Mac back in time and undue my trash removal?

If you backed it up, restore it from the backup. If not, run a program such as Data Rescue or FileSalvage; any further usage of the computer decreases the chance that it'll be recoverable.

• Can I retrieve a paid app that was lost when I restored my iPad?

The iPad was not available in my hometown, but lucked out and one was in stock out of state while traveling. I bought it and had it activated in the store so I could download apps and play on the 4 hour ride home. Problem was that now my iTunes would not recognize my iPad so I could not put any of my music on it. I restored my iPad and in doing so lost my paid app! Is there anyway to retrieve it? I have the email receipt that I purchased it, but for the life of me can't figure out how to get it back with out repurchasing it. I appreciate any suggestions.

• Can I retrieve my data from my mac book pro?

I did an update on my Mac Book Pro and it crashed. Can I retrieve the data from it? And if so how do I do it? I've taken it to a shop and they weren't sure how to do it.

Connect the MBP to another Mac and see if you can implement Target Disk Mode:
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1661
If that fails, take out the HDD and place it in an enclosure and connect it to another Mac and see if the data can be accessed.
Last gasp it to take it to a professional recovery service, but that will cost hundreds of dollars or more with no guarantees.
If your MBP is still functional, your data may be lost.
Ciao.

Yeah not a problem. It does seem though that if you did not have a Time Machine backup then you may not be able to recover the deleted folder :/ But for future reference to prevent any of this, a Time Machine backup is a great investment.
What it does is create an entire backup of your computer anything from personal information down to the screen saver.
What you first need is a new external hard drive (I would recommend a 1TB or higher just to prevent running out of space soon).
after that, just plug in the drive to your computer.
once it is plugged in, in the top right hand corner, close to the wi-fi symbol, you should see a symbol that looks like a clock with a backwards arrow around it.
click on that and select "open time machine preferences"
just turn the button to the "on" position, and select the backup drive and Time Machine does the rest
very great tool

• I updated my iPhone 5 and restored it to my iPod settings. can i retrieve the old data?

i plugged in my iphone 5 and wanted to update my ipod settings to my phone. i accidentally restored it and lost all my phone data and info i had and it restored it to my ipod settings which had none of the phone into on it. can i retrieve the lost iphone info?

Check and see if you have a backup of the iPhone's stuff. If the updating was done thru iTunes (the safe recommended way), it would have created a backup automatically. Look in iTunes / Preferences / Devices. "Hovering" the cursor over each of the backups listed there will open a popup that displays the IMEI/Serial Number/etc., so you can identify which belongs to what.
Having located a suitable backup, simply Restore the iPhone with it and it should regain its iPhone-ish personality.

I accidentally deleted all my husband's Mac mail and now it is also gone from his gmail account. How can I retrieve the deletd messages?

Did you also empty the trash can? If you did not empty the trash, then likely mail moved the messages to the trash folder on GMAIL.

• Mac mini can not find the NAS

In my network I have a Mac mini, AirPort Extreme base station and a Netgear ReadyNAS Duo v2. Everything is connected by cable. The problem is that the Mac mini can not find the NAS. Mac mini is looking for wirelessly connected devices, type TimeCapsule. How do I get my Mac mini to find the NAS and set the NAS as a source of data storage?

I have a ReadyNAS and use it as a Time Machine destination with no problems, even over WiFi. The ReadyNAS and Mac are both on the same LAN (even though the Mac is on WiFi), please check to see if your WiFi is on a different LAN to the Ethernet side of things, I have my Airport set to bridging mode so both sides of the AirPort count as the same LAN.
Next you need to check you have actually configured Time Machine in the ReadyNAS, as shipped it is initially turned off. You need to go to the ReadyNAS web management interface (FrontView) and then click on Backup on the left, and then select Time Machine. You also need to make sure Bonjour is enabled for the ReadyNAS, this is accessed by clicking on Services on the left and then selecting Discovery Services, make sure all the Bonjour options are ticked on.

• On plugging my iPod to the iMac, all the songs got deleted on the iPod. Now it doesn't sync to iTunes and it shows that 'mac os can't repair the device'. How can I get my iPod to start functioning normally again? Please help!

Hey! I plugged my 80 gb ipod classic to my imac, but had to switch it off when itunes hung. The ipod wasn't switching on , and when it did, all the data, including all my songs were deleted. Now, when I try syncing it to the mac, it doesn't connect to the itunes and I keep getting an alert saying ' Mac osx can't repair the device'. Now, althought all the data is gone, the ipod still shows 30 gb free. What will happen if I partiton my ipod? How do I get it to start functioning again? Please help!

Try a low level reformat of the iPod's hard drive to possibly try and repair some of its damage. Use the instructions in this article to walk you through the process.

• I am changing to a larger hard drive on my Mac. Can I copy the Aperture library from my backup disk running Time Machine without loosing anything?

I am installing a larger harddrive on my Mac. Can I copy the Aperture library from my backup disk running Time Machine without loosing anything? I am getting help migrating everything else on to the new harddrive, but since copying the 350Gb Aperture library takes a lot of time, I am planning to do that part myself.

I found the following information on Time Machine help about restoring Aperture library from TM
Restoring Your Aperture System
If you buy a new computer or use another system at a different location and want access to the Aperture library, you can install Aperture and then transfer the library from your vault (on your backup disk) to the other computer. If you experience equipment failure or other unexpected events, such as fire or weather-related damage to your equipment, you can easily restore the entire library to your new computer from a backup disk.
