My Mac Mail no longer works (does not receive or send mail)

I have had my MacBook for maybe a year now, and I don't really use the mail often. The last time I was able to send and receive mail was back in October. Now it will no longer work.. I get a pop up that's always asking me to put in my mail password, but nothing happens. I even tried going to preference to change my password and it won't allow me.
When I try to send mail, the little paper plane icon is not clickable. Nothing happens. The only thing I can do is exit out of the message or save the draft. And I can not seem to get mail at all from anyone. I haven't touched any setting either, so I don't understand why it no longer works. My bank can no longer send me emails nor can my friends send me emails anymore.
Does anyone know how I can possibly fix this problem and get my email up and running again. Thanks in advance for all the advice.

Sorry but I'm really not to sure what I have. I'm not good with knowing my computer model. All I know is that its a MacBook running with Leopard. I got my computer last year so I suppose its fairly new. Is there a place on my computer where I can check to see what it is (sorry to be so dumb with my own mac)
And everything else works fine. I love Safari. It's just my mail that doesn't work. Here's the message that pop up several times.
"The MobileMe IMAP server “mail.mac.com” rejected the password for user “akcastaldo”
Please re-enter your password, or cancel."
The only problem here is, even though I enter my password it doesn't do anything. It makes that message go away for about 3-5 mins. After that it pops right back up. And I can't even go into my preference and change my email password. So I don't know what to do.

  • Hello I have upgraded my iPad again. It seems that something gets upset each time. This time my mailbox has become unstable. It does not receive or send mail. I know my wifi is fine because my laptop is fine. I have switched off the iPad again and again.

Not sure you got my earlier message so I am posing my question again.
Having upgraded my iPad to the more recent OSsomething, my mailbox no longer receives or sends emails.
My wifi is fine, checked with my laptop which works fine. I have switched off the iPad many times but the problem remains. Can anyone help?

First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.
That's not the same as turning it off or on.
Another things to try is to reset your settings. Use the Settings app for this.
Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
You will not lose data but you will have to enter all passwords again.
If the problem persists after the reset check your email accounts on the iPad. You could delete them and add them back. This is also done in the Settings app.

If restarting did not resolve the issue, open Mail Preferences and make sure the box next to "Play sounds for other mail actions" is checked.

  • After loading Firefox 19, CacheViewer Add-On no longer works, does not store files for viewing.

I upgraded to version Firefox 19.
CacheViewer 0.8 no longer works. Although I can see the list of files in the viewer, the files cannot be viewed or saved.

There was an older extension named CacheViewer and then a newer one named CacheViewer Continued. I'm assuming you have the latter one. The author's notes indicate there were problems starting in Firefox 18. I'm not sure whether the newest version (still in review) will resolve your issue.

  • N97mini email app does not receive and send emails

I have installed Nokia email app (build 10.2.0.26 (main)) onto my N97mini. I have setup it up to fetch emails from my gmail and yahoo mail accounts. I also added gadgets to my screen so that I can view incoming emails. It worked before. But now, it stops fetching emails. When I go options->tools->connection info, it always shows offline mode.
I use several wifi network between home and school. Other app like opera works fine. I can use opera to access my gmail. When I do options->Send/receive, nothing happen. The icon on the top of the email screen is always a circule with a slash. So it means offline mode. I suppose when I click Send/receive it should go online to check emails. But it does not. Very few times, it goes online and checks email by itself. But I have no idea what triggers that.
    The setting is:
what to sync [Inbox] = sync enabled
    when to sync [days] = 7 days; [hours] = on all day; [disable sync when] = battery at 15%; [Send and receive] = soonest;
Please advice what do I miss here?

now my one account works perfectly without any additional changes, but my other one works not.
it shows that my password or username is wrong then i deleted it, created it new. after typing password and username 10 times right it worked. i got my emails and one minute later the same problem again...
i really do not understand the problem... i use the same preferences for the other account and it works, and everything worked untill yesterday. seems like it works if the iphone just wants to.
i am feeling like using windows
my provider is gmx. pop account information with my adress and name, server for incomming emails: hostname is pop.gmx.net username and password are correct.
    thank you.

  • Mail will not receive nor send mail, very annoying

Hey all. I have this problem in Mail that it will not send nor receive the mail. I know you're gonna tell me to look in the forums as well as the support documents, but I have done those like...10 times? So I seriously need help. Both my yahoo and Gmail accounts will not work anymore. All the settings are all right and Mail used to work like a dream. I suspect it's something to do with the servers because when I try to set up mail in Entourage, it won't work as well. Any ideas. TIA! By the way, I can excess my mail through the Gmail website. When I try to excess my Gtalk account through Adium, it won't connect as well.

    Hi,
Sorry to hear that your email doesn't work.
Can you please explain what your settings are?
Take each account separately. Try to work on one at a time.
My wife uses gmail from Mail, and every few months something stops working. Each time, I find that Google has changed something on their end that requires me to change/tweak one of her settings. I find the help on gmail.com to be invaluable for this. Make sure that they are exactly the same as in the help files.
My wife's parents use yahoo for mail. There email also sometimes fails. I don't know why. They live in Europe, so I'm not sure if it's just that they are awake when most of us in the western hemisphere are asleep when they do maintenance or something. It seems to just stop for a day or two, then work again. Yahoo also has some help files.

  • Person does not receive my e-mails

My brother uses hotmail.com. I used to send him messages and he was able to receive them. Lately, he has not been able to receive messages. Does anybody know why this happens? Other people who use gmail,
comcast.net, etc. are able to receive my messages.

I found out that my brother had me on a list of blocked addresses. When he found out that I was on that list, he unblocked my e-mail address. Everything is fine now.

  • Safari not responding on ipad 2.  Checked wi-fi, it's working.  Ipad not receiving or sending mail, either.

I recently uploaded the new iOS6 operating system. My ipad worked fine until this morning.  Watched video podcast, received early mail, but when I wrote 4 email messages I found them remaining in my inbox, and I was unable to get new mail, or to update facebook, or find webpages on Safari.  Got the message 'server not responding.'  I rebooted my wi-fi modem.  Didn't help.  Called wi-fi tech server.  They couldn't find a problem.  Wi-fi works on my computer and iphone.  Checked settings.  Wi-fi on and connected.  Closed all apps, and re-booted ipad.  Held down home botton and off button on ipad until the applea appeared, and waited.  Problem remains. What else can I try?

I was unable to fix it on my own.  My son suggested that I take it to the Genius Bar at an Apple Store.  Fortunately I was going to be in the city, and was able to make an appt. with the store closest to me.  A very helpful young 'genius' took my iPad in the back room and fixed it.  I don't know what he did, but he said something about 'firmware'.  I don't even know what firmware is, but he said it was unlikely that the problem would recur.  There was a sense that it had to do with the new  IOS6.  If you are able to visit an Apple Store that is what I recommend.  Make an appointment first online at Apple.com.  The service is free and I was VERY grateful to have my iPad restored!

  • WSUS server no longer works/clients not receiving updates after replacing domain controller

I first logged into the WSUS server and found that I couldn't launch the console, event log was full of errors about different web services not working.  I ran
    wsusutil.exe usecustomwebsite true
which appeared to correct that problem, but the WSUS server and all workstations report the following error code when checking for updates:
    80072F76
Client WindowsUpdate log is full of the following:
    2014-10-29 23:36:22:935  832 f48 Misc WARNING: WinHttp: WinHttpQueryHeaders(WINHTTP_QUERY_LAST_MODIFIED) failed. error 0x80072f76
    2014-10-29 23:36:22:935  832 f48 Misc WARNING: GetServerFileTime failed. error 0x80072f76
The upstream server and another downstream server are working fine.  It is only this one WSUS server and clients on this segment of the network where a new domain controller was put in place last week.
    Thoughts?

    Hi,
What's the port used by your WSUS server?
Usecustomwebsite will change the port number used by the WSUS Web services from 80 to 8530 or vice versa.
If you set this value to true, WSUS Setup will use port 8530 for its Default Web site. If you set it to
false, WSUS will use port 80.
If it doesn't work, please post the entire windowsupdate.log here. It may give some hints.
    Best Regards.

  • Apple Mail no longer makes the "woosh" sound when sending mail

    OS X 10.7.3, MBP
The other sounds seem to work in Mail.  I have the sounds-on options checked (having turned them off and on again).  It worked yesterday as far as I can remember. I have restarted the MBP three times since yesterday.  I had a "finder not responding" problem on shut-down last night, which I resolved by killing Finder in Activity Monitor.  I'm wondering if something has been corrupted.  I have the 10.7.3 combo update downloaded (and installed), and my inclination is to re-install it, but I wanted to see if anyone knows a simpler solution.  I do have regular Time Machine backaups available.  Perhaps the Mail plist file would be worth restoring? Advice appreciated

Yes, I have been in there, turning things off and on again.
However, it seems to be fixed now.  What I did was a full Option-Command-Q close down of Mail.  After restarting it, the "woosh" is back :-)
I'm so used to doing a simple command-Q to close a program, I forgot to thry the option-command-Q variety.  One of these days, I'll remember what to do in Lion :-(

  • My Samsung Galaxy s5 does not receive or send mms texts, photos or group messages via wifi.

We turned off our data and found that I cannot get mms or photo texts via wifi on my Samsung s5 active. The sales reps at the store told me it had all capabilities of an IPhone. Two AT&T technical support phone agents did not know about this limitation. After a 20 minute conversation, the AT&T reps said Samsung just overlooked this feature and will not offer it on this device. Samsung said AT&T will not allow this capability for this device on their network, but they had no written specs regarding this technicality to send me. This is a $689 Phone and I would have never bought it had I know that AT&T limited its capability. Does anyone know of an app or workaround?

Simple answer is that you can merge text messaging with Google Hangouts on the device.  This will allow you to send text messages from the GS5 without the need of the cellular network.  If would like to look into this and get back to me with any specifics feel free to ask. Here is a youtube video that shows you step by step how to get this done:https://youtu.be/v8YwXcw-YD4 Good luck and again just ask if you run into any issues

  • ERROR: Cannot start mail services, configuration directory does not exist

I'm running an Xserve G5 with one internal boot drive and one RAID using the other two internal drives. I used Apple's Disk Utility to set-up the RAID.
Back in early December, I moved my mail database and mail store to the RAID. Ever since, when I restart the server, the mailaccess.log generates the following error:
Jan 23 18:51:33 mail master[47]: ERROR: Cannot start mail services, configuration directory does not exist: /Volumes/RAID/mail.data/db
I'm speculating this is a timing error that gets created when Postfix initially can't find the RAID. Then, it must try again and find it because the error message does not repeat and mail starts running.
Is this something to worry about?

    Hi Joel,
You're right, it's a timing issues. The mail system is ready for work before the file system is mounted. It's benign.
