My macbook air 11" suddenly doesn't work with some software

this is the warning I saw: You can’t open the application “Install VectorWorks (A)” because PowerPC applications are no longer supported.
What's going on?? I erased my hard drive and I reinstalled it the Mountain Lion, and nothing happened. I need some advice. Thanks

if it's a PowerPC program, there is no way it works with 10.9 Mavericks. Search the forums and you will see hundreds of similar posts with the same answer. The only way to use a PowerPC program is with 10.6 or prior.

If you do not have any sound on your MacBook Air, then take a look at the article below. If you open up System Preferences, go to Sounds and look at the Output to see if the Internal Speakers are selected or a different output.

MacBook Air wi-fi doesn't work at home but does everywhere else?

Hello everyone, out of the blue recently my mid-2012 Macbook air started having wifi issues at home. Everywhere I go except my house the wifi works excellently. This would lead one to believe my home wifi is at fault, however all of my family's devices (ipad, iphones, pc, etc) connect to and use the wifi just fine throughout the house.
Even more strange is the fact that when I am in close proximity to the router (in the basement) the wifi works and is fast. It also works in my kitchen, but strangely does not in the living room 10 feet to the left or in my room upstairs. If it does rarely work in those areas, it is extremely slow and does not take long before it doesn't work at all. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Just a side note, I updated to OSX mavericks hoping this would solve the issue but it did not.

Brand new macbook air charger suddenly won't work

I bought a new macbook about four weeks ago. Everything is in great shape, inlcuding the charger. It suddenly didn't work yesterday. I've tried some of the troubleshooting stuff, nothing is working. Any ideas?

Preview of Ken Burns effect doesn't work with some pictures

I just recently installed a new graphics card (ATI Radeon 7500) on my Sawtooth, 1.2 GHz, so I could utilize the Ken Burns effect in imovie HD. It works but only partly. It works great but with some pictures the preview pane doesn't show the photo. What I see is a what looks like bad reception on an old TV (fuzzies and the picture is distorted so bad you can't even make it out). With other pictures the preview shows up fine. I'm sure I've loaded the drivers. What else can I do?

I am presenting the same problem. I can set the Ken Burns' effect while I am with the pictures before placing them in the Clip or Timeframe viewer. After placing them there, if I try to edit the picture (either by right clicking and choosing -edit picture or by control clicking and doing the same, I ended up with a black background. If you change the setting in this black ackground and update this changes they will be effective. So, you can change the slide duration, and everything in the sliders but without an image.
I was running System 10.3.9 and I thought this was the reason. Today, I went and bought Tiger but it didn't sove the problem. I do believe it is a bug in the program. According to Apple's Help and David Pogue's "The Missing Manual" this shouldn't happen.

Wireless Music doesn't work with new software

Hello-
I can't get my wireless music to work after I update the software to the latest version. The only one that will work is when I install it from the CD. But, I would like to use the most recent version of the software. As soon as I update, the Media Server won't launch on my computer. I am using a linksys WRT54G wireless router. If I check DHCP clients, the wireless music receiver is successfully getting an IP address. I have tried all of the things that linksys suggested (disable WEP, firewall, broadcast SSID, etc...) to no avail. Has anyone gotten the latest media server software to work with WRT54G? I have tried it on both my XP and W2K machine, with the same results (doesn't work).

I have the similar problem, I've installed the software on my desktop, no error messages (apart from the certificate) and everything seems to be fine. After about 2 minutes the message appears that the network is not ready and consequently the media server is not running.
Without the server running I can't setup the Network and the entire system is not working. I could ping it but that was about it.
I've reset my router, renamed the SSID, tried with and without WEP, MAC, without firewall, opened a new account on my desktop with admin rights installed the software again into a new folder - result still not working, same error message.
To make really bad, I installed it on my laptop, same procedure and it works fine! So it seem that it has nothing to do with my wireless devices or configurations, there must be a problem while setting up the software on my desktop.
I really would appreciate your help a lot!

1. Open the "Languages" Tab
2. Check "Install files for complex..." checkbox
3. Press Apply, Windows may ask you to insert your Windows XP
Installation CD
4. Press on the "Details" button
5. Press the "Add" button
6. Choose the "Armenian" or select item from the first combo
box,
7. Press OK
8. Press the "Language Bar..." button
9. Check the "Show the Language bar on the desktop" checkbox
if it is not checked
Now try to write in Armenian language in the edit box, the
font is Sylfaen which is supporting Armenian.
You will see "?"-s instead of letters.
Now open the Notepad, select the Sylfaen font in
Format->Font menu item, write something in mentioned language,
you will see normal letters,
now copy them and pasete them to the edit box below, you will
see normal text, so, normal input doesn't working, copy-paste is
working.

It looks like the syntax has changed slightly. I verified this works in Mavericks
Here is the new syntax:
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles -boolean true
killall Finder
The reverse is
defaults delete com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles
killall Finder

Front USB doesn't work with some devices

Hi,
I have 2 front USB ports and have wired everything correctly (not using the 10th pin). I tried my digital camera and the maxtor USB hard drive and they both work. When I try plugging the Adaptec VideOh! USB capturing device, it doesn't seem to work right. It is detected and the drivers for it installed correctly, but I can't capture any video. When I unplugged it and plugged it to any of the 4 ports on the back, it works fine. The D-bracket ports also worked ok with the device. I wired the 2 front usb ports the same way as the d-bracket (they both have the same color wirings). The front ports seemed to work ok with the other devices I mentioned, just not the Adaptec Videoh! USB device. There is a JUSB1 and a JUSB2 on the motherboard. Are both the same? I have JUSB1 for the D-bracket and JUSB2 for the front usb ports. Both are wired the same. I just wonder why the Adaptec device can work with the D-bracket and not the front USB ports even when they are connected the same way. Any suggestions?

Safari doesn't work with some websites

When i went on Comcast.net from my iPod Touch, it said that this website doesn't support your current browser, please use one of the listed browser. one of which was Safari! and i was using Safari! How do i get it to work?

This is a Comcast issue, they appear to have designed the website to only work with Safari for computers and not for Safari on the iPhone.
Basically the Comcast website will be looking for the browser type when you go to the site and it is not recognising the iPhone Safari browser as a valid browser they support.
Nothing you can do about it other than contacting Comcast to tell them, or you can select the link lover on the Comcast page that says " I don't want to upgrade- take me to Comcast.net"

EMET doesn't work with common software in Windows 7

I installed EMET 5.0, and began to have problems with EMET shutting down Acrobat Reader, Flash, Java, Internet Explorer, and browser linkage to .PDF files. Also, I could not load a .PDF file directly either. (No way to view the PDF docs
for EMET!)
Error messages included "simexecflow", EAF mitigation and need to turn off "Deep Hooks", and others.
I installed EMET about a month ago, didn't notice immediate problems, but a large set of Windows updates happened soon afterward (installed 11/8/14). Soon after this I first noticed the problems. I can't say for sure they weren't there before,
since the time between was short.
I (I think) managed to stop the Java and Flash problems with settings, but could not get others fixed. I finally had to uninstall EMET to fix ALL the problems !
We also have a Vista and an 8.1 machine, no problems with EMET (so far!).
I know that EMET may have problems with some applications, but it seems to me that there should NEVER be problems with these very common and essential applications.
Please either fix the problems with EMET, or tell me specifically what's needed to make these apps work with Windows 7 and EMET.
This machine has been thoroughly checked for all manner of malware, including rootkits. All clear.

My contact form was working fine until a few weeks ago, now it won't work with the e-mail address I was using. I have tried different address some work some don't , what gives here.
For what I'm paying I should not be having this problem.

Adobe air doesn't work with my software any more.

Hi all, I have 2 pieces of software that require adobe air, and lately both have been getting intermittent, both fail at the same time and then both start working at the same time.
I had the suggestion made by support forone that this is a problem with adobe air, and as both require it, and both fail or work at the same time, this seems reasonable.
I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it, no difference. They have also suggested I try it with a different user, and with a different user it works fine.
Windows 7, it should be the latest version of air as I uninstalled and redownloaded and installed just a couple of days ago.
The software that won't work is Market Samurai (cannot connect to google adwords) and Long Tail Pro (cannot connect to server).
Any ideas anyone?
