Can you boot into your Recovery partition (hold down the command and R keys whilst booting)?
Call back - you'll be able to connect to this forum from Safari whilst in Recovery.

Hi vickkjayy11 and welcome to Apple Support Communities,
Just to be clear, we are a peer to peer support community and have nothing official to do with Apple.
So to your problem, when you say:
"I reset my macbook pro a few days ago"
What exactly happened? Did you have a Time Machine backup?
    Read this:
OS X: About OS X Recovery - Apple Support
It would help to know the exact model (size and year) and which OS you're using.

  • Wifi goes on and off, backlit keyboard doesn't work and no sound since Lion  upgrade. I can get the wifi back by going into safe mode and re booting(someone suggested on here), but can't let computer die or turn off or have to do it again.

My Wifi connection goes off if computer dies or shuts off, I can only make it work if I go into safe mode and reboot, it was just that, but now my keyboard doesn't light up like it's supposed to in low or no light and in system preferences it's like it doesn't exist.  Also, the sound doesn't work, I can't turn it up or down, it shows the sound icon grayed out and the anti symbol when I push F11 and F12, also it's like it doesn't exist in system preferences either. I have never had any problems with my MB Pro, I purchased in Feb. 2010. , but I upgraded to Lion last month, I haven't been using my laptop as much since I had an Ipad I given to me, so I think that's why I didn't notice these issues right away. What do I do? HELP!! Do I take it to Apple? I don't have the Apple care warranty, so will it be expensive for them to fix? Can I get my money back for Lion if I restore to Snow Leopard?

Take it to an Apple store or AASP. How much it will cost will depend on their determination of the problems. To bad you didn't purchase extended AppleCare. No you don't get your money back for purchasing Lion.

  • Help! MacBook Pro only boots in Safe Mode and runs extremely slow (bonus: happened in Brazil and there are no Apple stores here - I need you guys!)

It's a MBP mid 2010. Last year it had some problems and an Apple authorised shop changed the HD and upgraded the OS from Snow Leopard to Lion. After that it seemed fine. Recently it started getting very slow and apps (e.g. Chrome, Flash) would crash. At some point it seemed stuck so I gave it a hard shutdown - bad idea. After that it would only boot in Safe Mode. I ran repar disk and repair permissions from the Disk Utility and it booted normally again but extremely slow. I upgraded to OS X 10.8.2, but didn't solve it. I tried booting with Command D to have a hardware diagnostic - it wouldn't boot and now it only boots in Safe Mode.
All data is backed and I have an external HD (but not an OS X Disc). Ready to anything. Help please!

Also you can perform #1 and #2 as these occur before Safe Mode, so you just reboot again with Shift key if you need to enter Safe Mode again.
At this point it sounds like your hard drive is dying or some sort of other hardware issue which I can only advise this.
Try to install OS X on a external drive and boot from it, if it's fine then you know your internal boot drive is dying.
Create a data recovery/undelete external boot drive
You can replace your internal drive yourself.
OtherWorld Computing is pretty good about providing drives and tool kits to perform that function yourself.

  • Macbook spontaneously goes into sleep mode and screen off mode

Hi. My Macbook spontaneously goes into sleep mode and screen off mode with varying time between each instance. It usually goes for a few minutes or even hours without doing it and then will go through periods of fluctuation between the modes. I believe this to have started with a minor orange juice accident rather than it being anything software related.
Any ideas as to how I might rectify the problem? Thanks very much in advance,
    Danny

When you say it goes into sleep mode ...do you mean you actually see the white pulsing light?
It may be that there is an application running (perhaps in the background) that is keeping your book awake. Printer software sometimes does this for example ...try logging out and seeing if it sleeps like that. If it does, then it very well may be a background process running.
You may find some items in System Preferences/Accounts/Login Items that may be the culprit.

  • Prevent my MacBook Pro to turn into sleeping mode

How can I prevent my MacBook Pro to turn into sleeping mode when playing music on it with Itunes?

    System Preferences -> Energy
Put slider to "Never". But this will prevent your Mac to never turn into sleeping mode, not just when playing music.

  • Mac Pro randomly goes into sleep mode

My (mid 2010) Mac Pro, OS X.6.8, randomly goes into sleep mode and I can't wake it, have to power it off and reboot. Just started to the best of my knowledge Friday (Jan 6, 2012) I've had it happen surfing the web in Safari, while working on an illustration in Adobe Illustrator, while running Apple Hardware Test, using 23" LCD connected by HDMI and DVI-D, Disconnected monitor and connected 12" Cintiq (LCD Tablet).
The monitor goes black, says "there's no signal coming from your computer", none of the keys will wake it. I have to hold down the power button until it turns off then power it back up. The time between the sleeps varies, 38min, 1hr 34min, 5min, 2hr 17min, 12min, etc. I disconnected everything (except keyboard, mouse, monitor) still the same. Opened and removed the ATI Radeon HD 5870, and noticed the PRAM battery, replaced it with a new one, thought that fixed it, worked for a long time then it happened again.
Tried Apple Hardware Tester again, it said everything is fine, ran it again an error popped up: 4SNS/1/40000000:Te1S-99.364, wrote it down then it slept.

The next time this happens open your mac and see if there is still a fan running.  If so you are not sleeping, you are in a thermal cutoff.  Keep you mac cover off.
Now reboot as you always do.  Take a look at the fan in your 5870.  Is it spinning?  If so, try to keep an eye on it and see if you can "catch" it not spinning.
When the fan doesn't start, or if it does then stops, the card will overheat and the machine will go into thermal cutoff.  The amount of time is variable.
I speak from experience.  I am currently on my third 5870 video card.  Both the previous two had this fan problem.  The only wrinkle in my theory for you is that I wouldn't expect more that, say, 15 minutes of up time at the most, not hours like you got.  But it may be that your card is starting ok, but stops sometime later.   I chalk it up to the lousy fans Nvidia uses in the 5x70 cards.
FWIW, if you happen to catch the fan stopped before the machine goes into thermal cutoff you can give it a little nudge with your finger to get it going again.
I recommend one of the various temperature monitors.  I use iStat Menus and display some key temps in my menu bar.  Of course after going through two of these cards I am a bit paranoid!
    Some other temperature monitors:
    iStat Pro
    Temperature Monitor
    Hardware Monitor
Note, after typing all this I also realized you got a AHT 4SNS error. I would run AHT again to see if you get that error again.  If so that means "Check Main Logic Board" and you may have a more serious hardware problem than just a video card!  So my other recommendation is that when you machine fails again look inside for any lit diagnostic leds.  There's some near the dimms but there are others on the board as well.

  • When I open Firefox, my computer goes into safe mode. How do I fix this problem?

When I open Firefox to do some browsing, my computer goes into safe mode. When I close Firefox browser, then it goes back to normal. I know there has to be a simple fix, but I have not found it.

Check that you do not run Firefox in compatibility mode or with a reduced screen resolution.
You can check that in the "Compatibility" tab in the Properties via the right-click context menu of the Firefox desktop shortcut.<br />
Make sure that all items are deselected in the "Compatibility" tab of the Properties window.

  • Automatically booting into safe mode?

    Hi,
For the last few days my imac has been automatically opening in safe mode and I have no idea why or how to stop it doing this.
Before it started doing this, I never tried to safe boot it and had been having no problems with the mac at all. No new software was downloaded/installed on the computer either.
Also, tonight the computer appeared to be very running sluggish, particularly on safari, with the spinning wheel freezing up on any laborious website such as youtube. This, however, could be due to a dodgy internet connection and may be entirely unrelated.
Does anybody know why the mac is likely to automatically safe boot, and how I can get it to stop doing so?

The PRAM reset suggested should work without problem you can also use, this article on how to correct using Terminal.

  • My iPhone turns off whenever it goes into standby mode and has to be turned back on to work

My iPhone turns off whenever it goes into standby mode and has to be turned back on to work

That's normal behavior. It turns off automatically in order to preserve the battery. Pushing the On/Off button turns it on immediately. This also requires entering the passcode and prevents the phone from being accessed by anyone but you.

  • I am about to go get my 4th iphone 4s since November!  Up in the left coener where it shows your signal strength, it goes into searching mode and stays there.  Kills my battery.  This one has lasted the longest-I got it December 23.  Any ideas out there?

I am about to go get my 4th iphone 4s since November!  Up in the left corner where it shows your signal strength, it goes into searching mode and stays there.  Kills my battery.  While in searching, no calls can be made/recieved, no internet, etc. This one has lasted the longest-I got it December 23.  Any ideas out there?

Both.  The first two, I did use my itunes.  The guy at the apple store said that could be the problem.  The last time they gave me a new phone and SIM card, and the tech said it wouldnt be the itunes.  Just to be safe, I never connected this phone to the itunes until last night-after it started searching- to save everything since I'm sure they will be replacing the phone today.  But hey, thanks for the suggestions.  I'm about at my wits end with Apple!!  Especially since i added a third line to my account just so I could get an iphone back.

  • Boot into safe mode and touschscreen doesn't work.

Hey, so, I ran a program that would reboot my Toshiba Encore into Safe Mode and in Safe Mode the touchscreen is non-functional.  Whenever I try to shut down the Encore and turn it back on, it always goes back into Safe Mode and I can't do anything.
    Please help!
    Thanks,

Ooh. That is a bluetooth device is it ? I suspect the tablet does not have a bluetooth driver in safemode.
If not, you should follow Padgett's suggestion.
If you do not have one, pop in to a phone shop and get an OTG cable. Then visit your neighbours and ask if you can borrow a USB keyboard and / or mouse for 15 minutes. Even if you can only find a USB mouse, you can open a file explorer, find your way to C:\Windows\System32, click on msconfig and you will be back in business in minutes.

  • While editing a document,Pages goes into beachball mode, and quit

While editing a document,Pages goes into beachball mode, and quit.  Cannot retrieve edits

Is it just one particular document or any document?
If just one document I'd guess there is some corruption in the document, usually a font or an image.
If it is all documents, the corruption likely lies in the Pages preferences. Go to HD > Users > (your account) > Library > Preferences, delete the com.apple.iwork.pages.plist file & then restart Pages. In Finder, hold down the Option key while clicking on the Go menu & your user Library will appear about halfway down the list.

I have read your post on how your monitor goes into sleep mode and will not wake up, and I would be happy to assist you in this matter!
To rule out any sleep mode issues with the monitor, I am providing you with some steps you can try below:
Step 1. Unplug the power cord from the back of the monitor and the wall
Step 2. Hold the power button down for at least one minute
Step 3. Plug the power cord back into the monitor and then into the wall outlet (not a power bar or surge protector)
Step 4. Press the Menu button on the monitor
Step 5. Navigate to the Factory Reset option and select it
Step 6. Try a different cable connecting your monitor to your computer
If the above steps did not resolve your issue you can try the monitor on a computer or other device to see if the issue persists. Please call our technical support at 800-474-6836. If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the link below to get the support number for your region.
