Thankyou- Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.
Try the following to rule out a software problem

- Reset all settings

Hi,
I have the late 2013 model of the macbook pro retina display. Since the past few weeks, I've been noticing a glitch at shutdown. This started to happen after my macbook asked me for my keychain password. How can I fix this glitch?
Before the whole keychain password: My mac would take a good 30 seconds to turn off properly. There would be a grey screen for a good 30 minutes.
After the whole keychain password: My mac just shuts off in a second literally but the grey screen doesnt appear. These a glitch. You can see the dock trying to go down at shutdown but because of the glitch it just stays there.
How can I fix this? Should I get it checked out?Please make a Genius Appointment and take it in for service. Ask for the glitch specialist.

I do not store any photographs on my computer they are all on an external hard drive, the only image on the computer are the ones I am working with. I got an iPad 2 and I cannot get my pictures to upload from a micro sd card as the iPad is saying device not accepted using too much power. Can anyone help? My iPad 2 is a 16 gb and my micro sd card is 4 gb
You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit. First download the pics to your computer.
Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import.

I bought my MacBook pro 17" in may 2012 and I've only used it for iTunes and to surf the net.
I gathered that I wasn't really using it to its full potential. I'm selling it now and wanted to restore it.
I think I've pressed command a r and reloaded lion on to it.
The problem is it still has my account info and I was hoping that would put it to its factory settings.
I logged on and now safari won't load up.
Please can I have some help never had a mac before all I want is to set it too factory settings please.Install or Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Erase the hard drive:
Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Install button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless. -

I have the new MBPr that came out in late october 2013. The battery is obviously not going to last me 9 hours because I'm using it.. but it sure does drain fast. Most I do is internet browsing and listen to music on youtube. Is there something I can reset with the battery to maximize the battery life? Also I'm a new macbook user and I don't know when I should charge my macbook. I've been charging it when the battery is almost dead but I've read on some forums that this is bad for the battery life. PLEASE HELP ME! The battery life is really upsetting..
The 'estimated' 9 hours of battery time is onlt for 'light' Internet browsing - with few Flash movies being viewed - and maybe a couple of low-consumption applications being open, all energy saver settings set just right, etc.
BUT...
You shouldn't let the battery run down to almost no power. If you're able, plug your computer in just as battery % reaches about 30. You can even leave the adapter plugged in whenever you're near a receptacle. If you're plugged in almost 100% of the time, let your battery run down to about 30-40% at least once every two weeks before plugging back into mains.
Be sure and set your Energy Saver prefs to lower the screen brightness and keyboard backlight brightness as low as possible.
You may not get a solid 9 hours on battery, but at least 8 hours can be reasonably expected.

Funky and annoying issues with my ipods harddrive, can anyone help please?

this is the first time ive been to an ipod support forum, ive tried everything and this is the last resort please help!
ive got a 4thgeneration ipod (non-color) and this is my 4th one, after a random period of time (between 4 weeks to 2 months) they all break. The hard drive starts making crazy sounds, randomly the unhappy face appears and eventually you lose everything, im not having a great experience with this product and apple refuse to refund saying theyll just replace it with another one (3 ipods later its still not working)
It hasn't been abused, i've treat this one like it's worth its weight in gold and its barely been moved since i've gotten it (mostly been using it for temporarily storing files). I unmount it (safely eject/remove hardware) before unplugging it and do everything by the book.
This time it's gone beyond what normally goes wrong..
As a last resort i tried restoring the ipod to factory settings, something must have gone wrong during this process because now the ipod is convinced that it is just a 400meg drive, is there anything i can do to restore it to its full 40gb?
formatting just gives the option to format it to 400meg, fdisk wont work because its a USB disk, same thing with partition magic.
any ideas?
im desperate lol! also, if not, what are the chances of convincing apple to refund me so I can get an iRiver?
having said that, my friend has the exact same model and has had it about 7 months without any problems, maybe im just unlucky!
id prefer to repair it rather than send it off again for another refurbished model, any ideas?

not sure what you mean sorry!, I used the ipod updater tool to restore it to factory settings.
Apologize for that one, I somehow assumed you tried to reset it with holding "menu" and the center button or via "settings->reset to factory setting" in the iPods menu.
i've tried formatting it with windows but it only allows me to format it to the drives 'maximum capacity' of 400megs, fdisk for linux tells me the maximum partition size can be 400megs also
Well, that might be the thing you shouldn't have done. The iPod must be formatted with the Updater! Other programs (like Windows Explorer and Partition Magic) mess up the iPods firmware.
As the "400MB" appeared after the Updater treatment, the drive surely is messed up. Try the latest Updater once again. If this doesn't work out, you could run chkdsk and use the Updater afterwards.
If there's still no avail, you would have to send it in one more time. -

If the screen shows a closed lens or black image, force quit the Camera app.
If you do not see the Camera app on the Home screen, try searching for it in Spotlight. If the camera does not show up in the search, check to make sure that Restrictions are not turned on by tappingSettings > General > Restrictions.
Ensure the camera lens is clean and free from any obstructions. Use a microfiber polishing cloth to clean the lens.
Cases can interfere with the camera and the flash. Try gently cleaning the lens with a clean dry cloth or removing the case if you see image or color-quality issues with photos.
Try turning iPhone off and then back on.
Tap to focus the camera on the subject. The image may pulse or briefly go in and out of focus as it adjusts.
Try to remain steady while focusing:
Still images: Remain steady while taking the picture. If you move too far in any direction, the camera automatically refocuses to the center.
Note: If you take a picture with iPhone turned sideways, it is automatically saved in landscape orientation.
Video: Adjust focus before you begin recording. You can also tap to readjust focus while recording. Exiting the Camera application while recording will stop recording and will save the video to the Camera Roll.
Note: Video-recording features are not available on original iPhone or iPhone 3G.
If your iPhone has a front and rear camera, try switching between them to verify if the issue persists on both.

Can my Flash Storage on my Macbook Pro Retina Display (Late 2013) be upgraded?
I feel like my 256GB Flash Storage is not going to be enough for me, and I have bought it over a month ago. Anyone know my options on upgrading, other than using a portable storage drive.
Thanks.There's no 3rd party for that yet. The company to watch would be Other World Computing. They do have SSD's for previous generations of Retina, but the new models have a different interface. One thing you can do is to add an SD card in the slot and format it as OS X Extended (Journaled) NOT case sensitive. It's nowhere near as fast as your SSD, but it's convenient and maybe good for less important data files.

What browser are you using? If it's Safari, uninstall Flash Player and then reinstall it. Also, go to the Safari dropdown menu and choose the option to reset Safari.

there is the very thin line on the screen sometimes pink, red, green colour. towards the left side of the screen. the line goes of sometimes comes back. I have read many people had this problem, but the posts was last years. is this hardware or software problem?
Take the MBPr back to an Apple store genius bar and have the techs check it out while still under warranty...a graphics module problem will need their attention.

BI Scheduler in OPMN is not getting up
