I just got a MacBook Pro for Christmas. At first it would charge normally. Then it began to stop and start charging normaly. Now it wont charge at all. My battery condition is normal. You are still under warranty. Call Apple Care. Make sure you get a case number as all repairs have an additional 90 days of warranty.

My macbook pro has started running slowly! Any ideas?

My macbook pro has started running slowly. Particularly the internet (firefox and safari). I have tried repairing the disk / verifying the disk and the permissions via Disk Utility, and have also tried uninstalling and re-installing firefox, and updating the software (all up to date). None of this has helped.
The old Dell laptop we have is running faster than my mac!
I also have Parallels Desktop Installed with Windows 7, although this has never caused a problem in the past...
I am running with Mac OS X, Version 10.6.8, processor 2.66Ghz Intel Core Duo, and 4GB memory (it's normally lightning fast!).
Any ideas would be much appreciated.

This is a known problem with Parallels and the recent update for 10.6.8. You do not need to actually have Parallels running to experience the problem and there is nothing in Activity Monitor that would indicate the issue is related to Parallels. You can find the explanation on Parallels site. They have put out an update to correct the problem:

Late 2011 macbook pro getting hot and running slow, any ideas?

In the last week my macbook pro has been getting very hot (too hot to rest on knees) and sometimes running slow. It will often cool down after a while but the fan seems to be running more frequently as well. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks

Itunes is causing my Macbook Pro to freeze at shut down, any ideas?

For a while I was confused as to why my brand new Macbook Pro was failing to shut down. I continued to use it, and each time I would shut my computer off it would freeze with a loading dial in the lower-middle part of the screen. Eventually I started to run one program at a time. I ran Safari (among other programs), and the computer shut down fine. I ran Itunes, and the computer failed to shut down. I have also realized that Microsoft Office causes my computer to freeze at shut down as well. I have run disk utility to check my hard-drive. Everything came out fine, so I know it is not a hardware problem. Something with the software of Microsoft Office and Itunes are not functioning properly... Anybody have any ideas?

No luck importing from SonyHandycam DCR-DVD650? I am using USB import to my MacBook that is running OSX 10.6.8. The MacBook is not recognizing the camera. Any ideas what the issue could be?

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2361 There's a recommendation that when using this camera to record in the 'Standard' format instead of VR format. So if you know what the setting was you used to record the disk that's a starting point.

So here's some steps to take to get the Mac to recognize your camera.
1. Try it more than a few times, sometimes it can take 2-4 attempts to get iMovie to recognize a camera for the first time.
2. Always get the power adapter for your camera out of the bag. Hook it to the wall outlet, then plug your camera into that. Don't run it off the battery.
3. With the camera plugged into the wall, in DV playback mode. Hit play and just let it play video out continuously, then reboot the Mac. As soon as you see the desktop, launch iMovie. Go to File Menu > Import from Camera and see if the Capture window opens with your video playing through.
4. Make sure iPhoto doesn't try to launch itself automatically when it detects your camera has been connected to the Mac. Sometimes it tries to steal the videos off of a camera and 'blocks' iMovie from seeing the camera when it's attached. So make sure iPhoto hasn't interecepted your camera and is not running at all when you launch iMovie

I've just spent 1/2 hour struggling with the same thing!
I did find a post on a different forum that mentioned that it might be to do with the carrier and they names O2 as being one. I've just come off the phone with Orange who is my carrier and he said that EE (not even Orange which is a subsiduary) is the only carrier that will allow the three way/multi-person call feature on iphones!

I want to plug my MacBook Pro into a nest-box webcam -- any ideas?

I bought my children a nestbox with built-in webcam for Christmas. It has a USB connection, but the software provided only runs on a Windows PC ("It just doesn't work") and, like the OS those things work on, the software is c**p and horribly clunky. It took ages to install and get it running and I hate using those useless pseudo-computers. I'm guessing it has a cheap, generic (480x320 pixel) camera built in, since there are no brand-names visible on either the packaging or the documentation. (I've been on Mac since 2006, rarely had any regrets for making the change while using the Mac, and none while using a PC.)
Since it doesn't just plug in and play, I did a web search for suitable software to run a webcam from a Mac, but I can't find an app that both disables the inbuilt iSight camera and allows viewing and recording of images from the webcam. Ideally what I'd like would be something that would allow me to use QuickTime or iMovie to view and record, without me having to do what I am not competent to do, such as put extra files into library folders or put a front-end onto a background program like Macam (which I did find, but doesn't seem to do what I need).
What I need, basically, is an app that, while running, disables iSight for its own use, but allows the iSight to be used by other apps if needed, receives and interprets data from the external webcam and displays the images, and either makes video files for itself or taps into the recording capability of another app without me having to do lots of switching and command-line stuff that I don't understand; OR a plug-in/modification for an existing view/record app (QuickTime/iMovie etc) that enables the app to switch between iSight and external webcams for viewing and recording. And it has to leave the Apple Mac boast intact ("It just works") and not interfere with other programs.

Late 2011 Macbook Pro Wont Boot into AHT

My brand new MacBook Pro use to boot into the Apple Hardware Test.
Recently I was having software problems so I restored my mac from the lion restore partition, now I can’t boot into the Apple Hardware Test. I don’t have restore disks or software disks because my MacBook Pro did not come with them Any Ideas?

First off, some other forum members have reported having to hold down Command-D instead of just D to get the AHT to load.
If that don't fix it, as per this article ( http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.7/en/mh35727.html ) it can be loaded from a USB disk. Since your Mac came with a factory-installed Recovery partition, you can concoct a bootable USB startup disk (hopefully containing the AHT) as per these instructions: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1433
Hope this gets you the AHT back.

the battery won’t melt because of long connection to the AC charger, although that has the potential of reducing the battery’s life.
Do you have access to a second 60 W AC charger to test with your MacBook Pro, or access to a second 13-inch MacBook Pro against which your AC charger could be tested?
