My Macbook won't turn on (HELP please)

I got a new MacBook Pro recently, and through idiocy and excitement, I forgot to properly shut down my old MacBook whilst using my new macbook pro. I have had the new laptop for about two weeks, and I'd left the previous one on sleep.
I figured the battery had just died, so I left it on charge for a few hours, hoping it would charge enough to turn on.
however I tried to turn it on about two hours later, and it still wouldn't turn on. the battery light has been steadily green. I checked the battery bit on the bottom of the laptop and the apple support bit says that if it flashes one light green for five seconds that it means the battery hasn't charged enough yet. but the charger light hasn't been amber.
what do I do? I really hope I haven't broken my laptop.

Have you tried holding your power button down for at least 10 seconds and letting go?

My Macbook 2007-08 model (all aluminum) has the start up sound internally, the screen doesnt turn on, but the light below the trackpad will turn on, then slowly dim but remain on...any help please?

    Try:
Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
Boot into Safe Mode if possible. If not then try booting from an installer DVD for your computer. If that doesn't work take it in for service.

  • My MacBook won't turn on HELP ME PLEASE!!!! EEK!

I was doing math homework online and my computer just shut off.  It won't power on, no sounds, no lights, no NOTHING, and my indicator light for my charger won't turn on either..HELP please!!!!  I know the batter can't be dead because it was on the charger when it crashed
    thanks,

The only other option would be to take out the battery and keep it out. Plug the magsafe back in and then try to turn it back on.

  • Macbook Won't Turn On - HELP!

Last night I went to restart my Macbook and it took forever to shut down. Once it shut down, it stayed that way and never restarted. It is fully charged (it barely ever gets unplugged). I tried unplugging it, holding down the start button, and nothing works. When I hold down the start button, I get the main white apple screen that usually comes up, but once that is done loading, the screen turns black and still sounds as if the computer is on. When I shut the lid of my Macbook the little LCD "sleep" light stays on as it usually does, and when I open the lid the light turns off but my screen stays black. My computer is a little over a year old - what could be wrong?! Please help!

Have you got your Leapord of snow leapord disk as if you put it in your computer then turn it off and start it up again, and hold command or ctrl + n it boot menu comes up, you could try do a disk check and check nothing is broken like hardrive etc... or you could try reinstall your OSX that work, however you will wanan wipe your hardrive so if you can plug it into another computer using firewire, and hold command or ctrl + t a neucular looking sign comes up and you will be able to take off your data from your hardrive and just reisntall the OSX and woolah it works, well i hope its just a theory may aswell try it, good luck hope it works

  • My old macbook won't power up - help please!

I have an ancient macbook, from around 2006, and it's been chugging along just fine.  Suddenly, it just won't power up at all!  Power adaptor shows a green light at plug in, so the cord is working, but no fan sounds, no lights, nothing when I try starting.  I've tried that SMC reset, but still nothing.
Is there anything else I can try?  If not, does anyone know if a good apple repair shop should be able to recover my data?  I've been an idiot and haven't done a back up in a few years.
Thanks for any help anyone can provide!  I'm going to purchase a new macbook air, but REALLY need my data from the old one if at all possible, so hoping I can get it started and/or have a repair person salvage the data.

  • Macbook won't start. Help Please?

So recently my Macbook Pro 17 in w/retina display has technical difficulties. I just bought it on Black Sunday of 2013. It was working fine until December 31 where it started to work slower than usual. At first it would take a longer time to start up. On Jan 2. I had difficulties turning it off but some how I got to manage to turn off my macbook. Yesterday when I tried to turning it on the small loading bar appear with the apple logo but then in a few seconds it turned off. I've trying many methods but none of them seem to work. I feel like I just thrown a large amount of money in the drain. I bought my Macbook in a MicroCenter. Would they be able to repair without any costs? If not what are other methods to solve my problem?

    Lesly,
You have a year of warranty with Apple. Just make a Genius Bar appointment. They should take care of it for you. You may also want to consider buying Applecare. That'll give you an additional 2 years of warrany.
Bring your receipt along with when you visit the Apple store.
By the way... you must mean 15" with Retina. They never made a 17" Retina.

  • My iPod touch is fuzzy. it won't turn on. help please?

I clicked on an app and the screen went black.  then all fuzzy.  then it just stayed fuzzy. why won't it turn on?
Two days earlier, when I clicked on the same app, my ipod went black, then fuzzy, and then it went white. after 5 minutes or so, the ipod showed the apple sign and turned back to normal. I clicked on it just now, and the screen went black, and then fuzzy and stayed fuzzy. no matter what button i push or hold, it won't go back to normal. its just fuzzy.

Try pushing both the home and sleep button in and then it will shut off and restart this might work if not then try to google it.

  • Macbook won't turn on all the way.  Please help.

Macbook won't turn on all the way.  At first it only showed the grey apple logo, but now it says that I need to restart the computer by holding down the power button for several seconds or pressing the restart button.  I tried this already but it's not doing anything.  Please help.

    1) Make sure you have Blackberry Desktop Manager installed.
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/desktop/
    2) On your PC, go to Start > Run and copy and paste the following line exactly (meaning with the quotation marks):
    "c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader\loader.exe" /nojvm
    3) The Application Loader Wizard will appear -- click "Next."
    4) In the "Connection:" drop-down menu, you should see "USB-PIN: UNKNOWN". Click the "Next" button.
    5) You should then see a list of applications ready to be installed for your Blackberry. Hit Next and Finish and you are well on your way to getting your Blackberry back to life. Congrats! Just don't disconnect anything and let the lengthy process finish completely.
NOTE: If you do not see a list of applications mentioned in step 5 and instead see the message "The Blackberry Desktop Software does not have Blackberry Device Software for the device that you have connected to the computer. Contact your wireless service provider or system administrator," then you must download Blackberry's Operating System for your carrier and device.
    http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.php/BlackBerry_Operating_System_Downloads
Just select the appropriate carrier and network type, select your Blackberry model from the list and download the latest version. Install this download and follow the above steps again and you should be on the right path.

  • Just downloaded new IOS 8.2 on MacBook Pro shutdown ready to restart & it won't reboot up HELP PLEASE...???

Hi Ive just downloaded the new IOS 8.2 on my MacBook Pro, it tells you to shutdown now, to finish installing - which Ive done. Went to boot it up again and all it dose is show me the apple sign and lots of black letters numbers and the odd word something about the 64bit is missing - Im doing my Criminology Honours Degree & doing a PowerPoint lecture - or should I say was!!!! And now my macbook won't turn on.... HELP PLEASE??????

use a torx screwdriver and open the back casing, from there you can proceed to get your hard drive out. then you can retrieve the data using a universal hard drive to usb adapter (you can find them cheap on amazon).
and if you are desperate to get it to turn on you can use the power on pads: from there we can see what is going on. (this is NOT a technique for every day use)

  • How do i transfer data from my old macbook 13" 2008 to my new macbook pro 13" but my old macbook won't turn on

hello! i went to the Genius Bar and they told me my logic board needed to be replaced on my old white macbook 13". however, i need to get my data and information from my old macbook but my old macbook won't turn on. i was told by Genius Bar that the hard drive could be accessed via the 3 screws when the battery was removed and the hard drive could be turned into a external hard drive once removed. that way i could transfer my music, movies, pictures, etc. they told me that Best Buy could do the data transfer for me. i went to Geek Squad but they told me the hard drive wasn't accessable behind those 3 screws, that the ram was there instead. i just want to transfer my data. please help!

Your Geek Squad wasn't very geeky. the hard drive is right next to the RAM.
    Here's the three screws
Here's the hard drive tab that pulls the hard drive out.
Here's the hard drive out and you can see the RAM in it's slots.

  • My macbook won't turn it on when running by battery

my 13" macbook won't turn it on when running by battery even the battery is completely charged. Even though plugging by power my macbook still works. What should I do to make sure the battery of the macbook to make it work again.

You might try to reset the SMC and/or PRAM. If that doesn't help you should contact apple service about getting it replaced.

  • My Magsafe adapter blew while charging and now Macbook won't turn on or charge?

My macbook was completely dead (we just got back from vacation). I plugged it in to charge it with my Magsafe L adapter (that came with my macbook) and turned my macbook on. Within 20 minutes (it was around 40% charged at that point I believe), I heard a "pop" and the computer shut off. Completely. No warning. I felt the L shape and it was HOT. I immediately unplugged the adapter from the wall and the box was just as hot if not hotter. The 2 pronged plug has burn looking marks on the metal, which leads me to believe it blew and is dead. Now my macbook won't turn on. I tried a few troubleshooting things (control-command-power button for 3 seconds and shift-option-p-r-power button) and there was no response.
Am I screwed? Will I even be able to get anything off my macbook?
I purchased it in 2009ish if that helps.

If you are in the US or Canada, you could make a Genius appointment
at an Apple Store for a diagnostic check of the computer to see if the
DC-in board (or magsafe board) is still OK.
Or if it was toasted from the power surge or failure of the adapter. If
so, then it would need a service for replacement. Troubleshooting
the charging system may well extend to checking the rest of the
computer hardware, as so much is integrated.
There may be some ideas on repair questions in an appropriate
iFixit guide for MacBooks, online at their site. Not sure if there is
a guide for those power adapters, but had read where repairs had
been attempted by individuals several years ago, posted online.
Hopefully you can reconcile your differences with the MacBook.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • My MacBook won't turn on completely

My MacBook won't turn on completely. It will be fully charged, with the indicator light on the charger green and everything. When I turn it on, the screen lights up and the start-up noise happends, but that's as far as it goes. It stays with the light blue screen with the apple and loading wheel for an hour or so, then it turns itself off. I've tried this a few times over the last week, and nothing has changed.

For Mountain Lion v10.8  > OS X Mountain Lion: If you see a blue screen at startup
For Lion v10.7  OS X Lion: If you see a blue screen at startup
Snow Leopard v10.6 >  Mac OS X 10.6: If you see a blue screen at startup
    Tip ...
Helps to state which OS X is installed.
Click the Apple () menu top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click About This Mac. The version is noted there.
Troubleshooting advice can depend on that information.
