My macbookpro died and I have been using my boyfriends macbook (the itunes is an earlier incarnation of my itunes) and have been using his pro to charge, all the music has disappeared from my iphone but shows up when i plug it in to charge on his macbook,

My macpro got wet and I have been using my boyfriends macpro to charge my iphone over the weekend, his itunes is an early version of my itunes library. I have no music showing in my ipod on my iphone. When I plug it in to the macpro it shows my music, and an up to date show of all my playlists new music etc when I click on my iphone icon, how do I get it back? Can I back up and sync from his library? Can I just back up my phone on his library and restore from that, will I get an exact copy, new stuff and all back??
Any help appreciated

Sounds like the music you had on your phone was not the same music on his computer. The iPhone/iPod touch is not designed to be a storage device. When you sync with a computer that doesn't have your music, it deletes your music from your phone.
Was this music you purchased from iTunes? if so, and you are in the US, tap on itunes app, tap updates, tap purchased and tap on the cloud icon to get each song back. If you're not int he us, get iOS5 update later this week and do the same.
But you need to move your itunes library to his computer. Create a user account on his macbook pro for you. From your external drive backup, load your itunes library on it. Then sync as usual! (Don't tell me you don't have a backup for your computer!)

  • Most of the music has disappeared from my iPhone!

For no apparent reason about 80% of the music has disappeared from my iPhone, and I am traveling so most of those songs live on my home hard drive and are inaccessible to me. How and why does that happen, and how do I fix it? iPhone 5, iOS 8.0.2. I did absolutely nothing other than plug my phone in to charge it prior to this happening.

I posted a similar issue.  My new iPhone 6 with iOS 8.0.2 only partially syncs my music library.  Even bought the 128GB to ensure no issues.  Apple Care could not help.

You'll need to switch off iTunes Match on the device & sync the iPod with iTunes as hopefully you've kept all your music on your PC.

  • HT203167 All my music has disappeared from my iTunes, what do I do?

I don't know why but somehow all my music has disappeared from my iTunes. I store all my music files on external hard drives.
I don't know what to do to get it all back onto iTunes (other than individually adding each song)

If you are lucky you may be able to recreate your library using the method here:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93313
If that doesn't work you can just add your iTunes Music folder using "Add Folder to Library", that gets your music back in the library but loses playlists and ratings etc.
Becuase this is rather a common problem, it is a good idea to make backups of you Library file from time to time:
    Backup the iTunes Library Files
    The library files are in:
    My Documents\My Music\iTunes
Close iTunes and wait about 30 seconds.
Copy iTunes Library.itl and iTunes Music Library.xml somewhere else e.g. into the Previous iTunes Libraries folder.
To restore, with iTunes closed drag the current itl and xml file from the iTunes folder to the desktop, then copy the backup iTunes Library.itl into the iTunes folder. The xml file isn’t necessary but can come in handy if the library needs to be recreated and the itl file is causing problems.

  • I downloaded Ringtone from iTunes into my iPhone 6 and set it as the default Ringtone. Worked well until I had to recharge my phone. Now disappearred from my iPhone but shows in Tones when phone sync'd. How do I get to show back as default Ringtone

I downloaded a Ringtone from iTunes into my iPhone 6 and set it as the default Ringtone.Worked well until I had to recharge my phone. The Ringtone has now disappeared from my iPhone and I'm left with just the Ringtones that come standard with iPhone 6. I sync'd my phone and it shows in the Tones folder. How do I get the Ringtone back as a default Ringtone in my iPhone 6. Quite frustrating!!

In iTunes, try signing out of your Apple ID & then back in: click on iTunes Store on the left sidebar of iTunes, click on your Apple ID on the top right, sign out, sign back in.  Then try to sync your purchased music to your phone again.

  • My music has disappeared from my iPhone!

I listened to music on my iPhone 4 yesterday all day like normal, nothing out of the ordinary.
I did not sync it at all yesterday.
Last night, I placed it on my nightstand to charge through the night. This morning, I ran through my normal routine of checking email, FB, etc. Didn't notice anything out of the ordinary.
I just went to listen to some music, and all of my music (thousands of songs) and playlists are gone from my iPhone except for two songs (1 song and 1 video) that are the same song and two of my most recent purchases/downloads.
Any suggestions to how this could even happen?
I am in the process of re-downloading all of my purchased music via the itunes app and iCloud because my latest purchases have not been synced to my iMac.
This seems so random and I don't want it to happen again... any thoughts to why and/or how it could happen?

This just happened to me for the second time.
The first time was back in December I think.  All my music disappeared.  Before it happened, iTunes had been telling me to plug my iPhone in and perform a restore, but I just ignored it.
Same thing this time - however two albums that I recently purchased via iTunes (that automatically downloaded to my iPhone) were left on the phone.
What's strage, as others have pointed out, is that iTunes is still displaying all the space on the iPhone that was previously occupied by the music!
I'm going to leave it as-is and take it to a Genius bar this week.

  • Music has disappeared from my iPhone 5

I have a 32 GB iPhone 5 with ios 8.1.2. Music has started deleting from it reCently. I have no synced my phone to iTunes in at least a couple of months, so it is nothing with a syncing problem. It seems that this is only happening to the music i purchased on my iPhone in the past year or so. All music either ripped from CD, downloaded from the Internet, or purchased a long time ago are fine. For example, I have purchased two John Mayer albums about a year ago from the iTunes Store on my phone. On both albums I had bought one track alone before buying the rest of the album. Both of those tracks bought separately are still there, but the rest of the album has vanished. All of my music still shows up on my iTunes library on my Mac, but it's just rather annoying to have to go through the whole process of syncing that much music again. Does anyone have any idea why this is happening or what I can do to recover my music?
    Thanks.

    Hello rneery,
There could be a few causes for something to make your purchased music seem to disappear. If there weren't downloaded yet to the phone, and the Show All Music option were turned off, they would no longer appear:
    Download past purchases
Tap Settings > Music and make sure Show All Music is on.
The purchases may also be hidden in your purchased history, which would prevent you from seeing them available for download again:
iTunes Store: Hiding and unhiding purchases
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Sterling

  • I had itunes installed on a notebook, then installed on my new notebook and now all my music has disappeared off my iphone 5. ANd when i tried updating itunes on old notebook it didn't install. Help

I had itunes installed on my old ACer and went to install itunes on my new HP. It has removed all my music from my phone.and when I tried earlier to update itunes on old acer it wouldn't install properly.
    help.

While that may work9I do not think it will) with iTunes purchased music it will not work for other music.
    - Transfer iTunes purchases by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
    - For other music you will need a third-party program like one of those discussed here.
    Copy music

  • All my music has disappeared from my itunes library!! HELP ME!!!!!

Ok, I was listening to music from itunes last night. I turn on itunes this morning and all the music that was there the night before has disappeared! I checked my "My Music" folder and all of my music placed after the "iTunes" folder has disappeared. This is extremely unusual and I dont understand it! Please HELP!!!
    Packard Bell   Windows XP

It could be anything. First scan with your antivirus program, and scan for malware using your adware/spyware program or Ewido http://www.ewido.net/en/download/
Also it could be your antivirus/security suite blocking iTUnes from writting to the folders it needs.

  • TS1702 My purchased Draw Something App has disappeared from my iPhone, how do I get it back and will I have lost my points and current game?

I have been using my draw something app for about a year and a half and suddenly it has disappeared from my iPhone.  What do i do now? I had loads of points and was up to about 30 on my latest game so if I download the app again will I go back to the start.

Does a spotlight search on the device indicate the app is installed?
Is the app selected to sync in iTunes?

  • Have not used my itunes for a while and have found all my music has disappeared.

I haven't used my Itunes for a while but tried today to find all my music has disappeared.  How do I get it back and what has happened to it???

iTunes: Finding lost media and downloads - http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1408
The easiest way to get back missing items?  Restore your whole hard drive with all your irreplaceable things like photos in about 20 minutes from the backup clone you make on a regular basis.
Downloading (using iOS or computer) past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519 - enabled with iTunes 10.3 and newer; not all media formats are available in all countries (see: iTunes in the Cloud, iTunes Match, and iTunes Radio availability by country - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5085); apps, books (not audiobooks), music, t.v. shows, and movies (some - not all studios have permitted this).  Downloading previously purchased movies and TV shows requires iTunes 10.6 or later.  Discontinued items not available. For items not included in the iCloud list (e.g., ringtones, audiobooks), or locations or computer systems where iCloud is not (yet?) available, you only get one download per fee paid.  Apple recommends,  "You always back up your iTunes library in the event that a purchased item is no longer available on the iTunes Store," (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519).

  • All my email has disappeared from iCloud.  I did not delete it, and now it's working again, but only from 28 August 2013.  What happened to my old emails? How do I get them back? thanks

All my email has disappeared from iCloud.  I did not delete it, and now it's working again, but only from 28 August 2013.  What happened to my old emails? How do I get them back? thanks

Have you checked whether the emails are visible at http://icloud.com ? If they are, it's a problem between your Mac and the website; sign out in System Preferences>iCloud and sign back in again.
If they aren't, then it's a server problem and you need to contact Support. If you currently happen to have AppleCare, either because you recently bought Apple hardware or have paid to extend the inititial period, you can contact them here:
    http://www.apple.com/support/icloud/contact/
You will need the serial number of the covered hardware.
If you are not covered by AppleCare, then - in common with other free email services - there is no free support and you may be asked to pay a fee; if so you should argue that this is a problem they've caused (it's not the first time, by the way) and you shouldn't be charged.
