I can not get my iPad to mirror on Apple TV. When I toggle the tv screen goes black and the iPad freezes. Have updated the iOS to latest settings and also updated the settings on the Apple TV

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
Check AirPlay is turned on on the Apple TV (turn it off and on if it already is)
Check that both devices are on the same network (Settings > Wifi, on the mobile device and Settings > General > Network, on the Apple TV).
Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
    Restart your mobile device.

Since you have Lion v10.7.4 installed, use Lion Recovery to repair the startup disk if necessary, or reinstall the Mac OS X.

  • When I turn on my iPhone 4S the apple logo pops up for a split second then the screen goes black but the phone itselfs boots up just fine???

I tried replacing the screen with no luck. The same thing happened with the new screen. I replaced the backlight coil and the backlight ic and still have the issue. I don't know what else could be the problem. If the battery is completely dead and I plug it in the "charging battery" symbol shows just fine during the entire time it is charging, but as soon as it starts to boot up the apple logo shows for a split second then the screen goes black. The rest of the phone still boots up just fine. I can use SIRI, press the lock button like I'm about to use my phone and slide my thumb across where the "slide to unlock" would normally be and it will make the unlock noise just no picture display. I am pretty tech savvy when it comes to repairs and all of the connections look fine, replaced backlight coil and ic, replaced LCD/digitizer, tried a restore, tried a DFU restore, multiple hard resets, but I am at a loss as to where to go from here. I had dropped the phone and put a minor crack in the screen but the phone worked just fine for a couple months after before this started to happen. The phone is still under apple warranty but apple won't cover it because Apple is stating that it is "caused by the crack in the screen." But being a repair technician I know that is not the case... Good one apple. So I took it upon myself to try to determine the REAL problem. Anyone with a little more knowledge have any ideas? Any suggestions are appreciated!!

Yes, I understand that. But The screen issue is not a result of user damage. The phone was not dropped when the screen got cracked. My daughter was standing in a chair at the table and dropped one of her toys onto the bottom of the phone and cracked it right by the home button. (Nowhere near the LCD/digitizer flex cables, connections, or logic board components) then a few months later my phone had died, I plugged it in, it showed it was charging, then Apple logo disappeared and screen didn't work. AFTER contacting Apple about the issue and them telling me that it "is a result of the very minimal crack to the sheet of glass that has no relation to the LCD or Digitizer and that the warranty does not cover it I had taken it upon myself to change the LCD/digitizer to no avail, as well as backlight ic and backlight coil to no avail. But how do I go about letting Apple know that it is in fact NOT due to the cracked screen nor is it due to the flex cable connections? I can't. So the lady that works the call center phones  trying to "convince" me that she knows what she is talking about and "convince" me that it is from the cracked screen I have to take her word because I can't show Apple that its not because of that without paying them $199 to fix the screen in which case they will just send me a new phone rather than fix the faulty hardware under warranty.

  • Screen goes black, shut the lid for a few minutes, open the lid the turn on chime comes on and the screen comes back to life. The computer itself has continued to update just no screen. After a few minutes goes black again. Is logic board going bad?

After a few minutes goes black again. Is logic board going bad or graphic card issue? Trying to decide if computer is worth repairing as it was made in 2007.

It does sound like you might have a faulty video connection. See if you can make a Genius Bar appointment at your local Apple Store.

Is there a case or screen protector that is possibly interfering with the proximity sensor (detects if the phone is near your face, allows the keypad/screen to be visible when the phone is away from your face)

  • 4s screen went black with the apple logo when i opened a text?

went to open a text last night and then the screen went black with the Apple logo, but within seconds the main screen came back and the phone worked normally. Do i have a problem? It's only 4 months old so i hope its not on its way out already.
    Any help would be appricated.

Reset your phone by holding down the home and off button until the apple symbol comes up, you wont lose anything. If it continues to do it after that, then do a restore of your phone in itunes.

  • Re: Satellite M100-221: screen goes black moving the display

    Hi,
I have a problem with the lcd display on toshiba satellite M100-221.
When I move the display the screen goes black.
The display works properly only when the angle is close to 90 degrees.

    Hi buddy,
Im not a technician but I agree with the user above. For me it sounds like a hardware problem and you should go to an authorized service provider. The technicians can check your notebook and exchange faulty notebook parts.
You can search on the Toshiba website for nearest ASP. ;)

My ipad is stuck inbetween on and off.  The screen is black with the white apple in the middle of the screen.  It won't turn off and won't come completely on.  Anyone know what is wrong?

See if this lets the iPad start up.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • My ipod touch is flashing white on and off, I hold the buttons down, and the screen goes black- but the apple logo does not come on. What do I do?

So I have had this problem before, and know that you hold down the top Power button and the Home button, at the same time, for roughly 10 seconds, or until the apple logo comes on.
The problem is, when I press the buttons and the screen goes black, like it's supposed to before the logo pops up, the apple logo isn't appearing.
I was wondering if that's because my I pod touch was drained when I plugged it in to charge, and I tried to turn it on when it was still charging?
    What can I do?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My screen goes black all the time!

Ever since I installed Leopard, my screen will go black if I don't type anything for just a few minutes. (I can barely see what's on the screen ... BARELY)
My laptop is plugged in and receiving power so that's the reason.
I have checked my power settings at that is not the issue.
I have checked the timing on my screen saver and that is not the issue. (my screen saver doesn't start when this occurs)
    Does any have any suggestions?

    Sorry you're having this problem.
A few years ago we had a similar issue on one of our machines, it was an early MacBook. Ended up being a cracked circuit connection on the motherboard. Changes in temperature caused the crack to expand and contract resulting in a shut-down followed by an automatic reboot. Sometimes over-and-over. I understood from AppleCare at the time that those symptoms could have also been any number of things including a intermittent issue with a powersupply.
If you take it back to the Apple Store at some point, I would ask them to have it run some CPU intensive tasks that closely resemble what you are doing when the screen goes black. It took us several try's to find the problem. Calling AppleCare each time to discuss it and troubleshoot before making the trips to the Apple Store really moved things along. In fact, it wasn't until the Apple Store had cracked the case from the inside that things kicked into a higher gear and AppleCare phone support sent out a pre-paid FedX package to send it to a refurbishing facility. Never a problem since and I know the people who have the machine today.
PS Can identify with the trip to the Apple Store, our closest one is in Knoxville, 2hrs from us.

  • HT201263 None of these answers help my problem.  My ipad will not leave the Apple logo.  I hold both buttons and the screen goes black, then the apple logo immediately pops back up.  I can't do anything because the apple logo just keeps popping back on.

I haven't been able to find any answers that solve my problem.  My Ipad will not leave the Apple logo.  I hold both buttons and the screen goes black and then the Apple logo immediately pops back up.  I can't get the red slider screen at all.  No matter how many times I hold down both buttons the screen goes black and then the Apple logo pops right back on.

Before you do anything else, try charging via a wall outlet for a while, since its off. Then try turning it back on.
When you put the device into recovery mode it allows you to restore the device when no other options work. You do risk losing everything currently strored on the ipad itself. Hopefully you've performed regular backups either via itunes, icloud or both. Evern if you have synced content to either of those, you may not lose everything. All previous purchases have been saved in the itunes and app stores, so you can dowload them again.
while the ipad is off, press and hold the home button and plug the usb cord into the ipad. You should see a message pop up on the itunes window on your compoter screen that state it has discoverd an ipad in recovery mode.
You should now be able to restore

  • Screen goes dark with the slightest touch

Okay, so my screen went dead on my ibookG4, but I was able to physically manipulate the display and it would come back to life for a minute or two.
So I took it to the repair shop- 1st they replaced the inverter board with no success. 2nd, they charged me $400-plus labor for a new LCD.
So I go to pick up my machine at the shop, and the repair guy brings it out and fires it up, while I'm talking to him, the screen just goes dark. I said to the guy that something is still wrong, but he assures me that the computer has just went to sleep- B.S.. I tap on the keys trying to wake it up, but I have no luck... The repair guy taps on the power button, and it miraculously comes to life.
    Cool... or so i thought.
So I take it home and open the lid. I go to adjust the screen angle and as soon as I touch the display it goes dark.
So now if I touch the display, or breathe a little bit too hard in the direction of the computer, the screen goes black.
I payed over $600 to fix this problem, and I think the repair-shop charged me for parts that didn't need to be replaced. Any Idea what could be causing this problem?

Okay, admittedly I don't have your unit in my hands. But, the instant, long distance, I've never actually seen your iBook diagnosis is that the issue is caused by a damaged inverter and reed switch cable assembly, pinched as it passes through the hinge from the lower case to the display, and therefore intermittently open.
It's actually a very common problem. And, if that is the case, it's pathetic that a certified technician missed it. It's also possible that it's a damaged display cable, but that is far less likely.
Although a limited number of early iBook G4 models—in rare circumstances—may have been affected by the separation of a ball-grid array video chip from the logic board, that issue is limited almost completely to iBook G3 models.
iBook liquid crystal displays have backlights built into into them, and backlights display binary behavior: they either work or they don't work. They do not intermittently work. That's a primary clue that it is the interruption in current to the backlight because of an open cable, combined with movement of the display and therefore the hinge, that suggest that the cable is the culprit.
Apple authorized service operations must meet technician certification and service excellence metrics to remain so, and to be reimbursed in warranty service events. They pay a serious penalty for not getting repairs right the first time, even under circumstances where additional issues are masked by a single defective part and where the subsequent issues aren't discovered until the first part is replaced.
If you do not believe that you have been treated appropriately or fairly, Apple has provisions to address your concerns. Your initial move should be to return to the same service provider, ask that the problem be properly resolved, and that you not be charged for the inverter and display assembly that were not required to properly effect the repair. If you cannot negotiate that outcome, contact me by electronic mail and I will outline how you can take additional steps to resolve the matter. The first step, though, is to return to that dealer, who should take the necessary steps to complete the repair properly, reimburse you for the parts not required, and likely refund a portion of the labor fees charged so far. That advice is based solely upon your representation of what has happened so far, but it strikes me as a reasonable one.
