My mountain lion download isn't working

Ive tried downloaing it from the app store and it was working , I left my laptop for half an hour and when I came back mountain lion was no where to be seen on launch pad. Then i went back on the app store clicked purchases, then clicked on mountain lion, i little cirle thing spun for about 2 seconds then stpped and nothing happend. Then i went to buy it again to see what it said. after clicking buy it said you have already downloaded this item would you like to install it so i clicked ok, no it juast says waiting and has been like that for half an hour.

If downloaded normally, then you'd have an install ML screen displaying, the app's icon would be on the Dock, and the app would reside in /Applications/, entitled Install OS X Mountain Lion.app. If you find it, make a copy to another location, so you don't waste resources DLing it again, then try launching it. If no go, than the DL's corrupt and you'll need to delete what you have and DL it again. If none of these exist,  http://www.apple.com/support/mac/app-store/contact.html?form=account, since they're responsible for making this abysmal delivery system work.

  • My free mountain lion download didn't work

I bought my MBA after the June 11 deadline, so I am eligible for the free upgrade.  I followed the instructions, got the codes, entered the content code in the redeem form, and got an error message that said something to the effect that it wasn't working at this time.
I tried again today, but it said that my content code was already used.
ARGH!!!  I never got my DL.
And, there's no way to connect with Apple.
Anyone out there have any ideas about how I can get my free Mountain Lion??
    Cheers,
    Emily

Try deleting the cache associated with the App Store.
Quit the App Store if it's open.
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type this exactly as you see it here:
    ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.appstore/Cache.db
    Click Go
Move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Launch the App Store. See if that made a difference...

  • After Mountain Lion download, FaceTime is not working anymore. Any ideas?

After Mountain Lion download, FaceTime is not working anymore. Any ideas?

I have reinstalled mountain Lion again . This time, Facetime works when somebody calls me, and I can do calls from my Mac again. But the problem was still that I was not able to call my iPad, what I was able to do with Lion (I had one Apple-ID and two call adresses). The solution was this time to generate a second Apple-ID from the Facetime in my Mac (this doesn't affect your main Apple-ID, it's only used for Facetime). Now, it works!  ;-)

  • Why isn't mountain lion downloading? It shows up in Launch Pad and says it's downloading but nothing happens.

Why isn't Mountain Lion downloading? It shows up in Launch Pad and says it's downloading but nothng happens.

Depending on your connection speed, it could take anywhere from 1-8 hours to download.  It's a 4GB download.
On the average 3Mbps home network connection, it will take 3-4 hours to download.

  • HT202159 mountain lion download interrupted and resume button not working

mountain lion download interrupted and resume button not working

From the App Store menu bar top of your screen, click Store > Check for Unfinished Downloads
Keep in mind, for downloading Mountain Lion from the App Store, a high speed (broadband) internet connection is strongly recommended by Apple as noted here > iTUNES STORE - MAC APP STORE - TERMS AND CONDITIONS
If you need to reinstall OS X or repair the the startup disk using Mountain Lion Recovery, that requires broadband access to the internet via Wi-Fi or an Ethernet connection. OS X is downloaded over the internet form Apple when OS X Recovery is used for reinstallation.
You may need to temporarily disable anti virus software to download apps from the App Store including Mountain Lion.
Make sure your Mac qualifies to run Mountain Lion >  Apple - Upgrade your Mac to OS X Mountain Lion.

  • Mountain Lion download freezes at 425Mb

    The story's in the title...
I need to create a Recovery HD as I don't appear to have one - but the download isn't working.
I've repaired permissions, deleted cache files, checked the App Store for unfinished downloads etc etc but every time the download starts, it gets to 425 MB and then locks up with the message:
"OS X Lion failed to download - Use the Purchases page to try again."
    Any ideas anyone?
    Andy

I'm beginning to think the new user option is my only one. I've tried repeatedly (including using Ethernet instead of WiFi, Restarting the Router, and attempting the download in "Safe Mode") and failed every time to get Mountain Lion to download.
I doubt it would consistently fail at 425 MB if the wifi were causing the problem, but all the same, I connected via ethernet cable - to no avail. I even tried pausing the download at 400 MB, then switching off and disconnecting the router for five minutes - but that had no effect either.
And I tried downloading at 5 am this (Sunday) morning, just in case it was heavy local usage that affected it, but again, it wouldn't be consistent if heavy traffic was the issue.
I just paused it again, and will restart the Mac before resuming, but I don't hold out much hope.
If anyone has any ideas on this, I'd be most grateful.

  • Mountain Lion download problems with Lion 10.7.5 (no VirusBarrier issue)

I have a mid-2009 Macbook Pro. From the factory it came with Snow Leopard but has since been upgraded to Lion OS X 10.7.5. I do not have VirusBarrier, I am writing from a recently clean-installed Lion.
I have now been troubleshooting my Mac for several days. When I wrote first, I had an issue with Safari having been damaged and so I wasn't able to reinstall Lion - but after a certain extremely helpful community member I finally succeeded in installing Lion.
But the issues with the App Store still persist. All my Mountain Lion downloads fail, getting the error message "can't verify, might be corrupted" what many here have also been getting. However, most solutions were related to VirusBarrier (which I don't have), or /var/folders errors (Console does not show any var-related errors).
So if it's not a var-related issue, or related to firewalls or virus softwares (I have disabled the Firewall and I have no virus software installed), what could it be?
When the download and install of ML failed last time, Console showed the following messages:
    11/30/12 11:54:44.617 AM com.apple.SecurityServer: Failed to authorize right 'system.install.app-store-software' by client '/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/PackageKit.framework/Versions/A/Resources/in stalld' [235] for authorization created by '/System/Library/CoreServices/Software Update.app' [567]

It may have been corrupted or tampered with during downloading.}
...and a bit later, upon re-starting the download:
    11/30/12 12:29:40.515 PM com.apple.SecurityServer: Failed to authorize right 'system.install.apple-software' by client '/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/PackageKit.framework/Versions/A/Resources/in stalld' [817] for authorization created by '/Applications/App Store.app' [781]

    Problem elimination:
    * I don't think this is a router-related issue: I have downloaded and installed other softwares outside App Store successfully
    * As said, I don't think this has anything to do with Firewall or Virus settings
    * Nor has this anything to do with /var/folders as far as I can tell
    What I've tried so far:
    * Repaired disk permissions several times
    * Rebooted
    * Restarted App Store
    * Following one advise found on the net, I deleted preflight.pfpkg just in case
    * All the time I have made sure my OS has the most recent Software Updates installed (most of them downloaded successfully, while with Safari and OS 10.7.5. I had to try several times before they were downloaded succesfully)
I just reinstalled my OS X Lion, only to use it to jump on to Mountain Lion - so I am pending my migration until ML is installed. I would like to fix this soon, since I'd like to get the migration done and my real work started. I would really appreciate your help.
I'm not very adept at using Console or Terminal to troubleshoot, so if someone could guide me through the problem identification, that would be great. Unless someone already knows exactly what's going wrong and can show me a working solution - that'd save my day!
    Thanks!

In cases like this, if you have an Apple store near by, they will most likely install the OS free of charge for you, if you can't bring your Apple ID along to prove you've paid for it.
Would that work out for you?

I have a MacBook Pro bought in dec 2009. Currently has mountain lion osx installed. Worked like a dream until today. Randomly froze, so I restarted it. To find I got a grey screen. It wouldn't start. Also note my DVD drive doesn't work, but mountain lion was installed via App Store anyway.
So here's what I done so far:
tried resetting PRAM - No success
Done disk utility. Disk verified with no errors. I even re formatted disk. - no success starting.
Tried re installing mountain lion via download . It froze halfway installing -no success.
Tried backing up a time machine backup from my USB hard drive. It froze at 1% - no success
Tried booting from safe mode - no success
Tried the command line boot - no success.
    Please someone help!

Sounds like the hard dre has left the building, Died, in the Sh*tter, Gone to the hard drive resting place in the sky.
Buy a new drive connect it to the system with a SATA to USB adapter and see if you can install Mt Lion on that drive connected externally. If you can then the drive inside your system has failed.
Oh Wait!!!! You have the 2009 model. They are known for bad drive to logic board cables. So it may not be the drive itself but the cable going from the drive to the logic board. Do the same as above then if the system runs OK with the new drive connected externally install it in the system and see if it boots. If it does you are good to go. If it doesn't then it is more then likely the cable that hs failed.
I would suggest you also SAVE a copy of that download of Mt Lion and create a USB install drive from it using Lion Disk Maker, once you get your system up and running.

  • HT4718 Can't find iLife after Mountain Lion download?

After my mountain lion download (done by a genius at the apple store so I know I didn't mess it up!), ilife isn't here. It's also not under the "purchase" section of the app store like support.apple.com says it should be. help?

New Macs come with iLife. However, if you did a clean install you're not going to have iLife.
However, the original install disk that came with your Mac should have an iLife installer included.

  • Slow internet after mountain lion download

web pages open slowly or not at all after mountain lion download

I'm having the same problem but only at home with a slow internet service.  At work with faster internet my macbook pro works fine.  I wonder if Mountain Lion requires some minimum internet speed?  Our old macbook pro (not using Mountain Lion) still works fine with our slow home internet.  This change happened when I installed Mountain Lion.  Also I can boot from by back up disk and bypass Mountain Lion and work with my slow internet at home. ???

  • Location of Mountain Lion Download?

For some reason yet to be discovered I always seem to have issues downloading large files on my Mac.
I have a work around where I download the SW packages at work and save to a USB thumb drive and then copy and install on my Mac.
Can someone tell me where the Mountain Lion download is located and what I need to do if I already have the purchase recoreded in the apps store?
    Thanks,
    Steve

    Mmmmm now thats a problem!
Any ideas why when I download it tells me that I have a "hash mismatch" problem. I guess that the checksum is failing????
I've noticed in the past that large downloads seem to get corrupted.
    Any suggestions or workarounds?
In the past with major updatyes that have don this then I've gone to the downloads page and downloaded from my PC at work and then copied the .dmg to my mac and its worked.
This problem only seems to have started when I moved to a cable modem from DSL?? not sure if this is a clue or not
    Thanks

  • 4 GB Mountain Lion Download quits @ 425 MB. 1.6 GB FCP X downloads OK!

    That's it really!
If a 4 GB Mountain Lion Download from the App Store repeatedly quits at 425 MB but a 1.6 GB FCP X download from the App Store works perfectly, it surely must be a fault with the App Store - but if anyone knows a way to contact Apple and report this, they're doing better than I am.
    Andy

Well, I managed to contact Apple on this matter.
The problem turned out to be my BT (British Telecom) 2Wire 2700 HGV Router.
I bought a new router online, and Mountain Lion downloaded perfectly.
Goodness only knows why Final Cut Pro X downloaded fine, but Mountain Lion repeatedly stalled at 425 MB - but that's computer equipment for you!

  • HT1338 Mountain Lion download problems

Tried to get Mountain Lion download/install on my computer.  Got message "An error has occured" so can't download.  Computer is up to date with plenty of space.

Went to Genius Bar.  Solved my problem but I'm not sure how helpful.  He ran some diagnostics (hardware diagnostic progeam; Mac Disk Utility for Hard Drive Verication and repair.  Don't think he found much wrong.  Then, he went for download on their connection, which worked just fine.  He explained it was because of the extremely fast download connection.  So, I guess you have to get your Mac to somewhere with a super-fast connection (Apple store, but also our local libraries have a very fast connection) for download.
That's all for this problem, as far as I can tell.  Over and out.
