They will only be where you put them If you are doing the very basics, then they will be on your computer and they will be in your backup copy of your computer.
The itunes store is not global at all, never has been. You cannot redownload your content from another country. You can only use the countrys itunes store for the country that you are physically located.

yesterday I updated logic pro, I have just discovered that my IK Multimedia ARC system has disappeared from the plug in drop down window, can anyone advise how I can get it back. It seems that old logic files where it was previously loaded still have the plug in live, but on a new project file it simply isn't there to select and activate.

Not sure about your issue. What did you update from and to? Is ARC still in the plugins/components folder?
I'm an ARC user too. I have it plugged in to Audio Hijack Pro which is set to hijack audio from Logic. This way ARC is after logic and you don't have to remember to bypass the plugin before you bounce.

See the icon bar on the bottom: click on the leftmost icon to restore the left panel.

you don't need to use iTunes to restore your old phone to factory settings.
Just go into settings on your old iPhone and reset .. it will take it back to factory set-up with the cable showing on the front of the screen. All your content will be permanently erased from the old iPhone.

To hide or show toolbars, you can use the old View menu.
If you have the orange Firefox button, tap the Alt key to temporarily display the classic menu bar.
View menu > Toolbars > ''check'' Navigation Toolbar
If you are viewing the navigation toolbar but it's incomplete or corrupted, you can reset your toolbars.
View menu > Toolbars > Customize
In the large dialog with the icons, toward the bottom, click Restore Default Set.

Connect your iPhone to your computer then launch iTunes.
Select the iPhone under Devcies left side of the iTunes window.
Now select Tones from the menu.
Select Sync Tones
Then click the Sync button bottom right corner of the window.

If you husband has it then everyone has it. It would not be in your Applications folder, but the Applications folder at the top level of the disk.

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

You have to buy it again unfortunately -- sometimes when you buy music through iTunes and the download gets disrupted you can select resume download (that is recontinue download where it left off) etc but if you reformat your hard drive and have to reinstall your programs -- i.e. iTunes needs reinstalling you will have to buy the music again.
You should have backed up your music library to an external HD or a CD -- I always burn my content to CD or DVD -- with iTunes purchases because of the DRM there is a limit to the number of times you can burn that conrent to CD or DVD but it is still possible to back up your iTunes Library including all music and video purchases. Depending on the size of your collection you might need to burn multiple discs and then if you want to play the content on another computer you will have to authorize it to work with another computer -- you can authorize up to 5 computers to play purchased content.
