My music is in the cloud, but it's also on my hard drive. Why does it all show with the cloud icon? Anyway to force the iTunes client to recognize that all of the music is already in my iTunes library folder?

Recently moved to a new PC. Upon installing iTunes, in the Settings dialogue, I've indicated where my iTunes library is stored. And yet, all of my albums in iTunes are showing up with the "cloud" icon, meaning that the client doesn't realize there is a local copy. Clicking the "cloud" icon ends up downloading a duplicate copy of the song/album.
Any suggestions for how to fix this...so that my iTunes client knows all of this music is on my hard drive (in addition to being in the cloud)?

To import music into your iTunes library on the computer go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Add items to iTunes and follow the instructions
Delete the "songs" that do not play in your iTunes library and reimport them.

Why does my slide show with music crash back to the album on Retina display?

I really enjoy making slide shows that have music on iphotonand have done it for years. Suddenly after working with slide shows and music on my new Mac Book Pro 15" with retina display the slide show crashes back to the album display after the first slide. The title comes up, the music starts the first slide comes up and then it just stops and goes back to the album display. Everything was working fine until Sunday when I installed the new Iphoto.

Ok, people. No one helped me on this one, I figured it out by myself. There is a new section in Iphoto called "slideshows" and if you move the album from which you want to make a slideshow there the slideshow and music work perfectly together with the benefit that now you and store different music with each slide show that I hadn't been able to do before.
Mystery solved.

You don't do it with preferences. As it says, that tells it where to store media and your library is more than just media.
Hold down the option/alt key while starting iTunes and guide it to the iTunes Library.itl file in the iTunes folder you wish to use.

Delete the broken links in iTunes then look at your purchased list to redownload.
If this happened because you were deleting files from the iTunes folder in Finder, don't. You have to let iTunes do all the deleting and moving or you will end up with broken links.

You cannot import contacts from your Nano to your PC via iTunes. The syncing process is only one way. However, if you enable disk mode on your iPod, open it up in a Windows Explorer window, you should see a Contacts folder. From there you can copy them back over to your PC.
Even though this article is talking about adding contacts to the PC, it should walk you through some of the steps mentioned above.

How are you backing up the photos? The best way is to backup the library itself as that will preserve your organizational efforts as well as all metadata like keywords, titles, faces, places, books, etc.
You can use a backup application that does incremental backups. Thus only the first backup is a full one and subsequent backups just copy those files that are new or changed. I use Synk Pro. The lower cost version, Synk, will do the same job. Other similar apps can be found at MacUpdate.com.
OR: upload your camera to a folder on the Desktop. There you can rename the files to something that is more informative than just the file name. I use the date (international format) along with a brief desc: 2007-1-20-adian1stbday-001.jpg. File renaming apps can also be found at MacUpdate.com. Also you can give the folder an informatve name which will become the Event name when you import the folder of photos into iPhoto.

I have deleted the iCloud account under my name on their iPads and replaced with their ones. Apple support said yesterday I needed to click the small 'I' by each name as it came up in the TO box and remove it. After doing rid for each contact under each letter of the alphabet it should remove them from latest contacts. I have an early 2008 MacBook. I had been using iPhoto on this MacBook until I purchased an iMac in 2011, at which time I copied my iPhoto Library from my MacBook to my iMac. At first I thought it wasn't able to show up anything because my MacBook was running two operating systems behind what my iMac was when I was running my iPhoto Library from that computer. So, I upgraded to OS X 10.7.5 and upgraded the existing iPhoto on my MacBook to iPhoto '11 version 9.4.3. However whenever I plug in the external hard drive and click on the iPhoto Library folder to open it up, it is still just opening up the already existing iPhoto on the MacBook (with my older pictures) rather than the iPhoto on the hard drive (with my newer pictures). How can I access my pictures that are on my external hard drive?

However, I did discover that whenever I open up the iPhoto Library that is already existing on my MacBook a certain set of pictures shows up. But then when I open up the iPhoto Library from the Hard drive another set of pictures shows up. BUT not ALL of my pictures are showing up on the iPhoto Library from the hard drive. At least the last two years of pictures are not showing up?! Actually, it appears that all the pictures are there from when I started using iPhoto about 5 years ago up until around the time that I got my iMac desktop computer and started using that (2 years ago). Try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, my guess is that it's a router issue. You'll need to get administrative access to the router and determine if it has a firewall. If one is present, turn it off and test the iPad. If that solves the problem, don't leave it that way. Turn the firewall back on but weaken it a notch and test again. Repeat as required.
For what it's worth, a router firewall can stop iPad communication without affecting computer communication. I do not understand why the difference.

okasy if you want to move the music from the other comptuer into your comptuer you can > but if they were purchased with a different APPLE id then you need to authorize the comptuer to play them .
