My music won't play on my stereo since downloading recent update

I recently purchased a new iPod touch. Used it a couple of times in my home stereo and work stereo with an apple dock adaptor that I purchased for my iPhone. The music came through the speakers for both stereos no problems but since the most recent update whenever I connect it will play for a couple of seconds then come up with the message that it is unsupported through this device, continue to charge but the music comes through the iPod and not the stereo. Is there a bug with the recent download or is it a fault with my iPod?

- Inspect the dock connector on the iPod and dock for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
- Are you using an adopter to go form the iPod to the dock? If so try another one.
- Contact the dock manufacturer/go to their suppor site. Sometimes an iOS update breaks compatibility
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • I got the iphone iOS 7.1.1 update and now my music won't play and I can't download apps. Can I fix it?

When i got the update at first the music would play while my headphones were in. I restored my iphone and now it won't play at all. I have tried to go in the settings for itunes and app store but it also won't load.

    Hi Jackson,
Since you have already done a restore of your iPhone, I would suggest that you now try restoring your iPhone to factory settings, set it up again and test before you restore your content. This article describes the process -
Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings

Note - It is important that you follow this stop:
Use iTunes to back up your device and transfer and sync any additional content to your computer.

  • HT1386 Some of my music won't play on my iPhone

Shortly after upgrading to the latest OS (7.0.2), I've noticed some of my music won't play on my iPhone.  I can see the songs but they have a red circle with a square inside it next to them and I can't do anything with them.  I have plenty of space and there's not "downloading from the iCloud" option.
Problem 2...some other people are having this problem and recommend wiping the music off my phone and re-syncing via iTunes but when I plug my phone in (or sync via wi-fi, either one) to sync, it hangs up on "waiting for changes to apply" and never wipes the music.  I've looked around at other complaints about this issue and none of the recommended "fixes" work.
I assume this is going to require an OS patch of some sort.  What's the ETA on this and is there a way to get around it now?

I have this problem too but all the songs that wont play arent downloaded from the itunes store theyre from another site

  • A while ago I wanted to download/buy an album on my iPhone 4 but I didnt have enough space so I deleted some stuff and downloaded the album. well ever since then my other music won't play, only that one album will play and none of my other music will play

a while ago I wanted to buy an album but I didn't have enough space on my phone, (iPhone 4) so I deleted some things off my phone and downloaded the album. well ever since then all my other music won't play, only that one album will play. I thought it was because I havent been able to get the software update on my phone but I don't have enough space for that either. I deleted almost all my photos, all my apps, i deleted almost all the info that is on the apps that you can't delete, but it says I have too much music and I only have 45 songs!!!!!!!! and I don't want to delete them because that's what I'm trying to listen to but I can't because of whatever reason. PLEASE HELP!!

1, you can't at the moment, though with iOS 5 in the Autumn, from http://www.apple.com/ios/ios5/features.html#photos :
Even organize your photos in albums — right on your device
2, by removing it from you synced from and re-syncing. Only photos taken with the iPad, copied to it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites etc can be deleted directly on the iPad (either via the trashcan icon in the top right corner if viewing the photo in full screen, or via the icon of the box with the arrow coming out of it in thumbnail view)
3, the location of the photos that you synced to the iPad should be listed on the iPad's Photos tab when connected to your computer's iTunes.
4, you can copy the photos from your iPad to your computer : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083 . You should also be able to delete them from the iPad as part of the transfer process to your computer, and it's then your choice whether to add them to your sync photo list so as to copy them back to the iPad. Copying them to your computer would allow you to organise them into folders and therefore be able to sync them back into separate albums.
5, I don't use Dropbox either. There are some third-party browser apps in the iTunes App Store that allow you to download pages so that you can view them when offline e.g. Atomic Web (the whole page is saved within Atomic Web, it doesn't place a photo into the Photos app)
6, deleting content should help. If you remove an app from your iPad then you also remove the content that it's got on the iPad - so if you then decide to reinstall it back onto the iPad then you will need to manually add back any content that you want in it. None of the Apple built-in apps (including Photos) can be removed from the iPad

  • Most of my music won't play, and the songs have exclamation points.

I upgraded my itunes, and now most of the music won't play, and they have exclamation points next to them. When I click on a song, it says "original file cannot be found" I clicked on locate, but I couldn't find it anywhere. Any suggestions?

Hello, I too had this same problem. I was very lazy about going through EACH song trying to select & fish for it in a folder (I have a lot of folders total of 1,979 songs). I called Apple & they told me to go to my iTunes go to FILE scroll down then ADD FOLDER.. Since everything was just out of place & didn't know where to even begin I basically deleted ALL songs from my LIBRARY & then added each folder. It literally took me less than 20 minutes. Dont worry if you have your songs labeled a certain way (Artist, name of song, genre in iTunes) everything will go back to normal. Hope this helps as it helped me! I put it aside for 2-3 years! Good luck!

  • TS3274 music won't play, play button on music not running

music won't play, play button on music not running, closed all programs and restatred twice, still won't play

Here is the list of supported codac formats supported by Android and like I thought, WMA isnt listed as a supported format unless a 3rd party app was installed that WMA worked with but the native OS does not have support for the file you are tring to play...
    Check out formats at http://developer.android.com/guide/appendix/media-formats.html
Update:  Looks like I missed something because I found a post that reports they will work but Android site says they wont so I guess its one of those situations if they work that fine but if they dont, dont be suprised.  All I can say is it would be simple enough to convert the files to MP3 and remove this restriction.

This seems to happen whenever I am using it and set it down instead of just bringing the black screen up where I can press the button and start it I have to restart it which is slow.  Help please!!!!

  • Menu music won't play iin Center Stage theme?

I'm trying to use this theme, but whenever I add any music to the menu, the music won't play. Any idea what's wrong and how to fix it other than to change themes?

That's the default behavior in the Control Center.

  • I reauthorized my computer but my music won't play.

I didn't realize the prior computer--long since traded in towards a new one, the laptop I'm currently using--hadn't been deauthorized.  I did that and then reauthorized current one but my music won't play.  I checked my account and it has been updated and confirms the new laptop is authorized now.  What gives?

This should help you with any questions that you have.

  • Itunes progress bar is not moving and music won't play. I also have no audio from my laptop at all. Any ideas? I am running windows 8.

Have had no previous problems with iTunes but for past two weeks my I tunes progress bar is not moving and music won't play.
I also have no audio from my laptop at all. Any ideas? I am running windows 8.

I'm having the same incredibly frustrating problem. I have 50-60 GBs of music and now literally ALL OF A SUDDEN most of my mp3s won't play in iTunes. Of the songs that do play, many of them sound garbled (almost as if you were listening to them underwater). As others have noted, the songs do in fact play properly in other media players (VLC, MPC, WMP, etc).
I feel like I've tried just about everything but I can't seem to fix the problem. Nor have I been able to find any viable solutions after hours of scouring the internet. Here is a list of the steps I've taken so far, in chronological order:
    1. Closed/re-opened iTunes
    2. Re-booted computer
    3. Uninstalled/re-installed iTunes
    4. Tried deleting songs from iTunes library and then re-adding them, but after dropping files into the library they don't show up at all, iTunes refuses to import them
    5. Downgraded from iTunes 8 to iTunes 7
None of these things have helped at all and I am amazed that even after completely uninstalling iTunes 8 and then installing version 7 I'm still experiencing the same problem. And, on top of things, I've found that iTunes 7 is not recognizing the ID3 tags for many of the songs it does import.
My apologies for the length of this post. I just want to be specific and provide as much info as I can so that maybe we can find a solution to this thing.
So, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  • My music won't play out loud on my iPhone 4S ?

My music won't play out loud on my iPhone 4S ?

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack or bad speaker or other hardware problem..
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
If not under warranty Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for this price. They do not fix yours.
    Apple - iPod Repair price
