My new iMac iTunes won't recognize my old apple id like my pc and iPad do

Trying to setup iTunes on my new refurb iMac. I have an apple id that is so old it isn't even an email both my pc and iPad are setup with a new apple Id the sales rep setup and it recognized my old Id in iTunes with all my purchases and money but, my new iMac isn't recognizing it....any ideas on how to connect them?

I added a new iPod and now iTunes won't recognize my old iPod

My old iPod's battery is just about dead. It is about three years old; I will send it to Apple for a new battery.
In the meantime, I bought a new 5th generation iPod, 60 GB. It's great! Eventually the old iPod will be my work iPid and the new one wil be the home and recreation iPod.
Here's the problem. I researched using two iPods from the same copy of iTunes. In response to my questions in this forum, someone referred me to the article at http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300432, "How to use multiple iPods with one computer", which I read, and which supported the idea that you can work with two iPods from one copy of iTunes.
My goal, then, was to follow Method Two as described in the article, and use two iPods from my one computer, without setting up separate user accounts for each one.
So -- I plopped in the CD that came with the new iPod, installed the latest iTunes. It had me register the new iPod by serial number.
In my copy of iTunes, my old iPod was called "Mae Sot's iPod". I set up the new iPod as "Mae Sot's New iPod".
I thought that from now on, when I plugged in my old iPod, iTunes would be able to recognize it, and when I plugged in the new one, iTunes would recognize it.
Wrong.
My copy of iTunes does great now in working with the new Ipod. But it totally rejects the old one.
When I plus in the old iPod to synch/recharge, I first get the Windows message in the lower right part of the screen with the headline, "USB device is not recognized", telling me that "One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it..."
The first time this happened, that message eventually went away, iTunes launched, and I got an error message saying there was no folder for the device.
Now when I plug in the old iPod, I just get the "USB device is not recognized..." message, and iTunes does not launch.
Any idea what is the problem?
My goal is to get iTunes to add my old iPod as a recognized device, so that I can clean the music off it and send it to Apple for a new battery.

I recently switched from a PC to a MacBook and while I was able to successfully move my iTunes library from one to the other (by means of an external hard drive), my iTunes library does not recognize my iPod (3.5 years old) and thus will not allow me to reformat it -- the iPod icon does not appear anywhere in my library and the iPod screen just says 'Do Not Disconnect' (and will do so for as long as it is connected -- I once waited an hour before giving up). I appreciate the advice. After reading your email, I tried using a friend's cable and it still did not work. The iPod shows up in the desktop but does not show up in iTunes. Since the iTunes does not recognize the iPod I am unable to do the reset/reload standard therapy. What I would like to do is wipe the iPod clean and load all of my music from my iTunes on my MacBook on the iPod.

Move library to new PC iTunes won't recognize music library

Followed the "Move items to another computer" directions under iTunes help. Can see the songs listed in the iTunes folder on the new PC - but when I open iTunes it doesn't recognize any music. I'm having the same problem. Is this discussion forum moderated? iTunes says that my ipod is associated with another library. I backed up my library on an external hard drive but it's not seeing it.

No.
One of you create a new AppleID and one use the existing AppleID.
But you can still use the items in each iTunes library.
Create separate computer logins for each of you.
This will give you each your own data. Contacts, calendars, photos, etc. (and your own iTunes library).

My iTunes won't recognize my password after new download

After downloading the new OS software, my iTunes won't recognize my password to restore all my stuff after it was backed up!! All my contacts, personal settings, pictures and videos are stuck on my computer and it WON'T restore back to my iPhone!! Funny tho, all my music and folders restored. I am confused and so upset:'( Is there a way to re-set the original password? I have tried every password I can think of and the frustration is killing me!! Any suggestions???

Try the iPod troubleshooting assistant:
If you haven't already done so, try the steps in the iPod Troubleshooting Assistant (choose your iPod model from the list).
If the issue remains after following your iPod's troubleshooting assistant, follow the steps below.
2. Restart the iPod Service
3. Restart the Apple Mobile Device Service
4. Empty your Temp directory and restart
5. Verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed
6. Change your iPod's drive letter
7. Remove and reinstall iTunes
8. Disable conflicting System Services and Startup Items
9. Update, Reconfigure, Disable, or Remove Security Software
10. Deleting damaged or incorrect registry keys

I bought a new iPhone and already have an Apple ID & Password & iTune account. When I plugged my new iPhone I kept getting a "AppleMobileDeviceHelper" error messages. They keep popping out. Plus iTune won't recognize my Apple ID (I don't want a new one, since it has the payment info and all). Anyone can help?

They are still on my ITunes but won't sync to my I phone 5. curious if this is a licensing issue or flaw in the system. Thank you for your help sorry it has taken me so long to reply to you.
I solved my problem with Itunes gift card after many frustrating hours. I went to purchase another song it did the same thing as before (went straight to the billing page) but this time I hit a credit card icon it asked me to bring up details; I deliberately entered wrong numbers so forth and so on. I deleted all the credit card details and hit NONE and I found I could then exit the page. That action seemed to trigger a correction for purchase; and I could then download without too much trouble.

I have the same problem - it is maddening. I rely on this iPad for work so this is not just an annoyance! The above solutions of changing the appleid on the device or on the website do not work.
The old email address no longer exists - I haven't used it in a year probably and I no longer have the account. I logged into the appleid website and there is no trace of the old email address so there is nothing that can be deleted or changed there. On the iPad there is no trace of the old email address so nothing can be deleted there either. I have updated the iPad software and the same problem comes right back. Every 2 seconds I am asked to log in using the old non-existent email. The device is currently useless.
The only recent change to anything was the addition of an Apple TV device, which was set up using the correct login and password.
Does anyone have any ideas? The iPad has been backed up to the iCloud so presumably it now won't recognize the current iCloud account? So restoring may notbe an option?

2 things: iPhoto isn't automatically copying all my imported photos into an iPhoto album folder AND ever since i upgraded my MacBook 120GB to Snow Leopard, iTunes won't recognize my iPhone.

So i have a 120GB MacBook that's about 4 years old (just updated to Snow Leopard--been working in Iraq, i'm a little behind).

I use a WD external hard drive to back my Mac up every week or so.
I recently realized that half of my pictures from iPhoto are not copied to the external.
They haven't been transfering over.
So i snooped through my folders and as it turns out, iPhoto hasn't been copying the pictures i import from my iPhone to iPhoto and saving them as .jpg files in the pictures folder (or iPhoto album or whatever) like i think it's supposed to.
My pictures folder has approx half of all my pictures in it, meaning at some point (probably 2 years ago) iPhoto stopped making the file copies of my imported pictures.
I do not know why.
No idea how to fix it.
If i were able to fix that (with your help), would all the pictures that haven't been copied automatically copy to my pictures folder once i had the issue resolved or would there be a lot of dragging and dropping?
I've been clumsily and sloppily copying all my pictures to a new folder on my desktop and manually transferring that folder to a thumb drive (which i keep in my pocket) and my external (just so i have them in some form) in case my computer crashes or a mortar shell lands on my room and blows my computer up.
Can anyone please help me with any of this?
I can't just stoll down to the Apple store to ask the Genius Bar (I'm in Baghdad) and i don't have Apple Care so no one will help me on the phone when i call Apple.

So iTunes won't recognize my new IPod Video. It works fine with my kids' shuffle, mini and 4th gen but when I connect my new iPod I just get a window with: "iTunes cannot read the contents of the ipod "IPOD". Use the IPOD Software Updater Application to restore the IPOD to factory settings"
I've been trying since Christmas to get this thing working. I've tried the five R's, I've tried every combination of everything suggested on the Apple site, (including posts here) I've tried stuff from other apple users sites. No joy. I just got off the phone with the help rep from Apple. He talked me through the MSCONFIG stuff, no joy still. He told me to go to depot.info.apple.com/ipod and fill out the forms and they'd send me a package to put my iPod in to send them so they could fix it. It's personalized so it'll take an extra 3 weeks to fix. Needless to say, I'm very frustrated and extremely disapointed.
