My new iPod touch 5 doesn't restore, it's stuck on recovery mode.

I connected the ipod to my computer, just to charge it up, and i left the computer alone. I think the itunes was set to actualize it alone to the ios 6.1, but when i came back to get my ipod, it said that there was an error and the ipod couldn't actualize, after that it's stuck on recovery mode. I connected it to the iTunes as the ipod says, and on the resume says the software is actualized but it's stuck on recovery mode, when i try to restore it, the software downloads, but after it's downloaded, it doesn't restore the ipod and it's still the same. Help me, it's been this way for a week, and I'm tired of keep trying with the itunes I will really appreciate the help, thanks.

  • New iPod Touch with January Update Restore Question

    Hi,
Few days ago i bought new iPod Touch with 1.1.3 software and January Update.
When I restore it I'll lose my January Update programs ? And if that happened what can I do to get them back ?
PS. Sorry for my poor english :P
    Cheers

It was mentioned already in this thread. If you look at the package check the seriel number. If it ends with /B then that is the new model and it has the new applications that were provided in the Jaunary update already programmed into the iPod. If you restore you will not lose them.
If it ends with /A then it is an older model that required the January Update in order to get the applications on your iPod. If you restore then you will lose them but you don't need to purchase them again as your iTunes will keep track of the purchase for you.

  • My ipod touch wont restore and its stuck in recovery mode

I have an Ipod touch 2g mc model and it started having problems. it crashed often when playing games (i even restart it after installs), it restarted when i went on to the internet and got SUPER slow, so tried restoring it. it got to the point where it said "Preparing the ipod for Restore" and then it said "unkown error occurred(1603). and its been stuck in recovery mode for a long time now and i cant get it out no matter what i do. How do i leave recovery mode a different way? please respond.
p.s. ive had multiple errors but my most recent one has been 1603. and now it keeps saying 1603.

My Dad just fixed my problem! He used blackra1n. at first it dint work but then he saved it to documents and then put it into the Local Disk thingy, then he clicked on it, clicked the Make It Rain button, and it took like 20-30 minutes or maybe less while it was saying Running. Then finally my ipod turned back on! it didnt lose anything! like, Nothing at all was lost. so yah, that was pretty cool.

  • Any way to avoid Restoring phone when stuck in Recovery mode?

I connected to my PC to update my iPhone 4. It gave me a message saying "unknown error 21 occurred--could not update iPhone." Now it is stuck in recovery mode and I don't want to erase all my phone and start again. Somebody pleeeeeeeeeease help! Why is it doing this?

Thanks, guys, for taking the time to offer suggestions. After about 24 hours of frustration, rebooting, repeated attempts to Restore, and toggling back and forth between Run As Administrator, I was finally able to update, Restore, and I now have my phone back! I'm sure there is a simpler way to avoid these problems; maybe some day I'll learn them! Thanks

    Hi there mmimadi,
It may seem a bit repetitive, but I would recommend taking a look at the troubleshooting steps found in the article below. If the issues persist, there a a few other things we can try.

  • New Ipod touch update freezing at 'restoring Ipod software..'

    Hey guys
So I love my Ipod (have not jail-broken it) and saw there was a new update for the ipod software....so downloaded it. Its downloaded fine and then said it had to delete everything off my Ipod to update.
It deleted everything but when it got to the 'Restoring Ipod Software' part, the bar froze both on Itunes and on my ipod.
I've tried holding the center button and hold button so it resets, it tells me to connect to itunes but when I plug it back in it tells me my ipod is in recovery mode, it then goes through the same process and freezes in the exact same place.
This is really annoying, and if anyone has an answer to fix this (I don't mind if it means not getting this new crappy update) please please please tell me
    Thankyou

The backup that iTunes makes does not include music, and other items like synced photos that are synced to the iPod.  If these items are not on the computer/iTunes library on the computer on which the update was performed, the items will not be on the iPod after the update.  The following lists what is included in the backup.
    iTunes: About iOS backups

  • My iPod touch (5th Gen) is in what seems to be recovery mode.

    1) Ok so this has happened earlier today and I've been trying everything. My iPod's screen was blinking the Apple logo and wouldn't boot up normally. I pressed the power button and the home button and it told me to connect to itunes. Well as soon as I unplugged my iPod to plug it into the computer, it just shut off and wouldn't turn back on again. I plug it in but it doesn't respond and the computer doesn't even realize that it's just been plugged in. This is the first time it's done that. iTunes is also not opening, nor is the device charging in the computer. I plug it back into the wall and it starts working again with the blinking and telling me to plug it in to iTunes, but it's just not working. What can I do?
    2) I also have  second problem, but I'd rather the first one be dealt with, well, first. Anyways before this all happened, I had gotten the screen fixed about a week prior. After I got it back, I had network issues. The iPod searches for available networks, but never displays any. Only on occasion does it show two networks. Mine and a neighbor's, but it doesn't connect to mine and in a matter of seconds they both disappear. The weird thin is that when I place the iPod on top of my router, the WiFi begins to work again, but only when I place it on top. I've tried resetting the settings, but nothing's changing. What can I do here?

    You can try the following:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem
However, I would take it back to who fixed the screen. The wifi problem is likely due to the antenna not be connected internally because of improper scree replacement. Apple will not help if someone other than Apple worked on the iPod

  • HT1339 iPod Nano will not restore and is stuck in Recovery Mode.

The iPod Software is up to date (as is iTunes itself), and I recieve the following message after clicking "Restore iPod..." and supposedly restoring it:-
"iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode. You must restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes."
Attempting to restore it again (by clicking "Okay" on the dialog box and then "Restore iPod..." in iTunes) will repeat the above ad infinitum.

In some cases, the iPod might get into a state in which the battery needs to be drained before it can be reset so try these steps.
    1. Disconnect iPod from all power sources and leave it disconnected for about 24 hours.
    2. Reconnect iPod to the Apple iPod Power Adapter or the computer and reset it.

  • My iPhone 4s won't restore and is stuck in recovery mode

Hello everyone in the apple community
I recently purchased an iPhone 4s and I set it up via iCloud and it worked later when I arrived home after going with my dad for a party my iPhone would not start it was in recovery mode so I tried putting it in iTunes and starting restoring it then after it was 75% done it rebooted and iTunes says "the iPhone 'iPhone' could not be restored an unknown error occurred (1) so I tried again but still no luck and I also tried putting it in dfu mode but still no luck. I don't think it has been jail broken because I don't know anything about jail breaking .
    Could anyone please help me?

I have been frustrated with several issues:
    1) Smart Playlist not syncing correct (not matching iTunes library)
    2) Songs staying on my iPhone and iPad that should be coming off.  Songs that should be going on not.
    3) iPhone and iPad filled with OTHER (amber) taking up space on the phone/pad.
    4) iPhone and iPad continually getting stuck on last Step during syncing.
    5) Neither would Restore.  Get stuck on last step of download and then give a timed-out error.
Here's what I did and it seems to have worked.
By the way, I have had no problems with my iPod Classic.
    To fix:
    1) Make sure you sync and back up your iPhone/iPad (even though it's not been fully correct).
    2) Make sure you back up to iClould (this is key).  If you don't use iCloud, sign up.  It's free.  Otherwise you will lose all that is saved to your device.  I did lose some photos, so email yourself any that you just would cry if you lost).
    3) I have my device checked with SYNC THIS DEVICE...OVER WI-FI (although I don't think it has any affect on these steps).
    4) Go to SETTINGS>GENERAL>RESET>ERASE ALL CONTENT AND SETTINGS
    5) It'll make sure you really want to do this and you will have to enter any password on the device.
    6) It takes a few seconds to clear.  It'll then reset.
    7) Follow instructions on the device (same ones you did when you first got it).  During set-up, turn iCloud on with Apple ID.  Once you go through the set-up, the device should have some Apps that come free and it should have no content.
    8) Connect to your iMac (not sure if this will work with a PC, but should).
    9) Set up as new device (I did not want to restore from what I had because I didn't want to put back the same problems).
    10) Select the Apps, Music, Podcasts, Photos, etc that you want on your iPhone/iPad.  This step takes time because you will have to arrange the apps on the page you want and reselect the items you want on the device.
    11) Sync/Apply.  This will take some time if you have a lot of items.
    12) After the sync is complete.  Disconnect from the iMac and go to Settings.  You'll want to reset (how you want them) the Notificiation Center, Sounds, Wallpaper, add your email, etc.  If your Contacts and Calendar are connected to your email address (Outlook), they will all come back once your email is set back up.
    13) There, likely, will be some small adjusments you will want to make (custom ringtones, time to lock-screen, etc) that you will make as you go.  These are minor.
    14) I did these steps the other day.  Played the iPod all day today (over 100 tracks affecting many Smart Playlist).  Came home, synced the iPod (no problems as normal); synced the iPhone and then the iPad and both synced fast and accurate.  What a change :-)
Hope this helps!  Time will tell.

  • Can't get my phone to restore and is stuck in recovery mode

I have the latest version of itunes and for some reason it everytime i try to restore it, it gets to just about the end of the process then says that an unknown error stopped the restore process (error 1015)
    can someone please help!

I couldn't wait any longer as it wouldn't get out of recovery mode from either my iMac or my macbook pro, so I just ended up making a genius appointment.
The first time this happened, the genius told me to create a brand new admin account in my computer to see if it would clear up any issues with the syncing, but that didn't help when I tried it.
Yesterday the genius told me that I would just have to do a clean wipe on my imac and making sure to select "archive" when doing the clean install. He said it's most likely something on the computer and not with the iPhone since this is my second iphone replacement and the same thing keeps happening.
If you come across with a better solution than wiping the computer, please post it here.
    Thanks,
    Damian

  • Help iPhone 4s could not restore (error 1) - stuck in recovery mode

I thought I had successfully converted from iPhone 3g to 4s could not connect to att phone service.  To reinstall, I reset to iPhone 4s to restore factory settings. software downloaded successfully, but after install completes I get a message that iPhone 4s could not restore (error 1).  Followed by message that iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode and that I can restore original setting bu clicking Restore.  Doing that reats the problem  After 10 attempts, I am frustrated.  Itunes no longer shows capacity, software version or serial number for iPhone .  Lists those as n/a.  Need help

Unfortunately the restore did not solve the connectivity problem, but it made it even worse. The phone was not connecting to the carrier at all, constantly showing "Searching...". I tried another restore, this time it failed on three different computers (one of them was a fresh iTunes installation)... Strange, that it worked once.
@Unshaven: Multiple combinations of Power and Home button did not work either. Seems to be bricked now. I think I have to return it to Apple ...
Btw. Windows iTunes showes some log errors like 'getenv radio-error' failed and DoesDriverNameMatchDeviceID failed.
Any ideas welcome also regarding the issue of loosing connectivity to the carrier...

  • My iPhone 5 keep telling me restore after update, stuck in recovery mode?

After trying to update my iPhone 5 to iOS 7.03, my phone turned off and turned back on with a screen telling me to plug it into iTunes.  After plugging it in, it says that it has to be restored and that my iPhone is in recovery mode.  I've tried restarting the phone, holding the power and home button but it just goes back to the plug into iTunes screen. I don't want to have to lose all my stuff on my phone so I don't want to restore it.  I have no idea what to do!  Please help!

It's too late, whatever was on your phone is already gone, if it is in recovery mode.
However, if you been backing up on a regular basis you can restore to that backup after the recovery.

    Hello reedyx,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
To help resolve this issue where your iPad is getting error 1 when trying to restore, please follow the directions outlined below.
    Check for hardware issues
    Related errors: 1, 3, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, 20, 21, 23, 26, 27, 28, 29, 34, 35, 36, 37, 40, 1000, 1002, 1004, 1011, 1012, 1014, 1667, or 1669.
These errors mean that your device or computer may have a hardware issue that's preventing the update or restore from completing.
Check that your security software and settings aren't preventing your device from communicating with the Apple update server.
Then try to restore your iOS device two more times while connected with a cable, computer, and network you know are good.
Confirm that your security software and settings are allowing communication between your device and update servers.
If you still see the error message when you update or restore, contact Apple support.
