My new mac mini with Maverick does not go to deep sleep even if i press power button or Apple-Sleep mode.

Hi.
I have my new mac mini with Maverick that does not go to deep sleep even if i press power button or menu Apple-Sleep mode. He goes only to something like stand-by  (power lid is on; after i turn off and then turn on the power he does not wake up just starting). I tried "sudo pmset -a hibernatemode X", tried mode 0,1,3, and even 25. nothing helps. he goes to deep sleep (when all data on HDD) only first time after i change hibernatemode couple times and force it to sleep. Today i even tried to force it to sleep (menu Apple-Sleep mode) and NOT turn off the power for whole night, in the morning he is in this "stand-by" mode anyway.
Could anyone help me please? i need it sleep but don't want to keep my power on for whole night.

If you bought the product in the U.S. directly from Apple (not from a reseller), you have 14 days from the date of delivery in which to exchange or return it for a refund. In other countries, the return policy may be different. If you bought from a reseller, its return policy applies.

  • My new mac mini with fusion drive says I only have 36 GB of storage

I have a new mac mini with the 1 TB fusion drive. When I look in storage in the About this Mac area, I'm told I have 6.67 GB free out of 34.62 GB. An Apple rep said that this is a bug in the system and that I have the proper amount of storage available. Wondering if anyone else has had this issue.

I have just gotten of the phone with Apple Support here in Canada, more to let them know about this issue and yes, got the same message. The Fusion drive is very new technology and they have not heard much about this problem either. Their best advice was to wait untill the new iMacs role out with the same drive and see if the same problem is cropping up elseware. Maybe a solutiion will be forthcomming at that time?
Seriously, I must say..... very disappointing Apple! Steve Jobs is probably rolling over in his grave. Since when does Apple role out a product that does not work 100% out of the box? Since when does Apple adopt a "wait and see" approach to possible hardware glitches? Where is the quality control people!!
Even as a die-hard Macintosh fan, I must concede that Apple is loosing "street cred".
Well, I have my complaint logged and will be awaiting further updates regarding this issue, but I won't be holding my breath.

  • Can I use my iMac with a thunderbolt connection as an Display for my new Mac Mini with thunderbolt ??

Can I use my new Mac Mini with Leopard and thunderbolt in connection with my new iMac as a display ?

If it's a 27" iMac. I don't believe Target Display Mode is supported on the 21" model. But not with a Mac Mini running Leopard. It would need to be running Lion.

  • Just got a new Mac Mini with Lion - where is the downloads folder in the Window tab that is at the top of the page in Safari?  I used this a lot and really miss it!

I just got a new Mac Mini with Lion - the Window tab at the top of the Safari Browser used to ahve a downloads folder in it along with Activity etc - but it is not there anymore. Any way to get it back or is there another location it sits in?  I used it when I'd copy video info from the activity folder and then paste into the download folder and presto - I downloaded the video onto my computer.  I really miss this capability!

Download activity is found by clicking on the gadget on the right:

  • Possibility to use new Mac mini with an USB-DAC?

Anybody knowing anything about the possibility to use the new Mac mini with an USB-DAC. My reason for the question is that I've heard that USB3 doesn't handle sound. I'm thinking about to buy a mac mini and use it as an HTPC and signalsource together with NAIM DAC-V1.
    // Rode orm

What I have heard that there are a few USB2 audio devices that
have had some issues with USB3, but USB3 itself is supposedly
    backward compatible to USB2.
I would check with the makers of the DAC to see if there are any
    USB3 issues.

I have a mid-2011 iMac running Mavericks. When I click restart the computer goes to a white screen with a spinning circle and does not go any further until I hold down the power button to turn it off. What do I do?

Ok, sounds like the safe mode boot worked... You probably don't want to always be in safe mode though (some reduced functionality) so does it do a normal boot now? If not, you should then reboot into safe mode and run Disk Utility. Then select Macintosh HD on the left hand side, and click the Verify Disk button. If needed, it will ask you to Repair Disk. If there are errors found, Repair Disk again until there are none. Then try another normal boot and reply with result, wether good or bad.

  • I recently purchased new Mac Mini with Lion installed. Now I can't get iTunes to sync iCal from my iPod Touch (3rd gen) to my Mini.

I recently purchased a new Mac Mini with Lion installed. I downloaded the latest version of iTunes. Now I can't get iTunes to sync iCal from my iPod Touch (3rd gen) to my Mini. Everything else syncs great, and iCal syncs from my Mini to my Touch. My Touch has the latest iOS installed. I have tried rebooting my Touch, removing the sync calendars option from iTunes>Info and checking it again after applying and closing iTunes, and restarting my Mini. Any help will be appreciated!

  • I have a new mac mini with mt lion where is the os on this computer

I have a new mac mini with mt lion where is the os on this computer. It came with Mt Lion on it

You have a couple of options for booting OS X.
One is to use the OS X Recovery Disk Assistant to copy the Mountain Lion Recovery HD to a USB thumb drive. A 4GB thumb drive is sufficient as the Disk Assistant only needs 1GB.
A second option would be to use a cloning software like SuperDuper or Carbon Copy Cloner to clone your existing Macintosh HD to an external USB drive. This would give you an external bootable copy of what you have now.

  • Mac mini with maverick keeps hanging

I am new to Apple and recently purchased a Mac Mini with a keyboard, trackpad and mouse attached to an HP monitor.  I have been using it for a few weeks with no problems and updated to Maverick 10.9.1 without problems.  I have since added photos to iPhoto and now it seems that when I have been using my Moneydance program or my email it freezes and the round rainbow ball appears so that I can't do anything in that program unless I switch the whole computer off and start again. Is it to do with Maverick or one of the programs?

If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes) in the search box. Note the timestamps of those log messages, which refer to the times when the system was booted. Now clear the search box and scroll back in the log to the last boot time after  you had the problem. Select the messages logged before the boot, while the system was unresponsive or was failing to shut down. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V). Please include the BOOT_TIME message at the end of the log extract.
If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
    Step 2
Still in Console, look under System Diagnostic Reports for crash or panic logs, and post the entire contents of the most recent one, if any. In the interest of privacy, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if present (it may not be.) Please don’t post any other kind of report — it will be very long and not helpful.

  • New Mac Mini with Lion Video Problem With Dell E228WFP monitor

Just purchased a new mini Mac 2.3 with Lion pre installed.  I connected to my old Dell E228WFPI monitor via the Mini Display to VGA adapter.  The mini mac worked fine for an hour until I put it to sleep.  It would not rewake.  After rebute the gray screen and apple logo appear with clock, but after clock screen to black and monitor goes to power saver mode.  Took unit to apple store twice and could not resolve problem by changing resolution or other methiods.  Finally, we learned that the system works fine using Belkin HDMI to DVI cable.  This Dell Monitor had DVI connector.  Hope this helps...

How can a computer that's been turned off (and I mean completely OFF) get a network request? Only a sleeping computer should react to such a request. If you're sure you shut down (Apple Menu, Shut Down), then only an internal power supply or logic board problem should cause this. The only way it could be software is if Lion is not shutting down the computer but is instead putting it to sleep. Is it a new Mac Mini? If so, you should have it replaced or repaired.
