My new macbook air 10.7.3 is running hot with the fan blowing just by using the internet. Is there something wrong with the computer?

My new macbook air is 10.7.3 s running hot, with the fan blowing after about one hour on the internet. It will also run very hot with the fan blowing when it is closed and in sleep mode, is this normal? My macbook pro did not do this.

My Macbook Pro 15" Early 2008 model had been running hot for a long time.
Checked Activity Monitor. (Applications/Utilities)
AdobeResourceSynchronizer was taking 83% of CPU usage.
Did a google search and found information regarding AdobeResourceSynchronizer causing high CPU usage and heat.

Problem seems to be Adobe Resource Synchronizer.app
To disable go to: System Preferences > Accounts
Click the Padlock icon, enter password if needed, click Login Items,
uncheck AdobeResourceSynchronizer
I don't know how this got install on this computer.
I suspect Adobe Reader. AdobeResourceSynchronizer.app is within the Adobe Reader application package.
Control Click (or right click) the Adobe Reader app, click Show Package Contents
Location: Applications/Adobe Reader.app/Contents/Support/AdobeResourceSynchronizer.app
Some other Adobe applications may also cause this to run.
After disabling this in System Preferences > Accounts, temperature seems to be acceptable.
Also start Adobe Reader X, go to Preferences, Tracker and in the "Automatically Check for New Comments and Form Data", slide the top slider all the way to the right so is says Never.
After having done all this and restarted the computer, check Activity Monitor again and see if
AdobeResourceSynchronizer is still running. If it is you can click on it so it is highlighted and click the Quit button in the upper left.
This solved my excess heat problem.

It looks like the app is not currently in the App Store, I can't find it in the UK nor US stores.
If you had previously downloaded it then do you have a copy on your computer's iTunes so that you can sync it to your iPad ?

Was it bought in an Apple store, as there is no product page for Apple TV in your location? If it was bought through another store make sure it was an authorized seller.
There are no apps stored on the device (except Computers and Settings), they are fed through a server and will differ depending on region. For example, there are many that are US only and some require connection to a cable provider. To change accounts and access another region you would need a valid address and credit card.

I have even bought a new Airport Extreme Router just to confirm it is not the router and it still didn't help.
I have brought all items in the same room with wired connections and still same issue.
I was thinking maybe ATV 3 might help since it has 2 wifi antennas and faster processor.
Have tried everything I could think of.
This was one of the main reasons I bought a Macbook Air for this airplay feature. Very frustrated.
Any thoughts; any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I also disabled Norton Firewall and restarted the Air and Now I'm able to use Air Play.
I know that the Apple remedy said that to do that in the support article, but I totally forgot I had that enabled..
It actually works. I can even stream to the Apple TV now through my MacBook Air.
BTW, Go into setting under the ATV, and click on update...you'll see that there was another update avaialble for the last gen of ATV...
It does have to restart twice..I guess once to download and and nother to apply.

New MacBook Air 11 inch, 2013, Kernal_task running 300% constantly

I have just purchased a brand new MacBook Air 11 inch, 2013.
I noticed that the fan was running constantly when I booted up and have tracked it through the activity monitor to the Kernal_task which is eating up 300% on the CPU. I have no thrid party software or apps installed. It's brand new out of the box and the only thing that has been done is install the Mavericks updates as instructed by the apple update software.
And yet the Kernal_task still runs at 300% and the fan grinds on constantly regardless?!?
Is there anyway to fix this? Or have I got a dud model. It seems to be very strange for a brand new Mac to be like this. The fan and the Kernal_task as chewing through the battery and making the whole point of purching this Macbook Air a bit pointless.
Is there anyway to kill the Kernal_task without bricking my Mac?

Is there something wrong with my Retina Macbook Pro?

I have been looking at the Geekbench scores for the new retina model with 2.6GHz and 8GB of RAM and they are getting around 11-12 thousand as there final score. When I do it (I have the 2.6GHz model), I receive a score between 5-6 thousand. Is something wrong with my computer, or what?

You can't really do a benchmark on your MB if you're running on batteries.
Keep in mind, when you're running on batteries, your MB is not using your CPU's full potential since it's on power saving mode.
Too do a proper benchmark, your MB must be plugged in to take advantage of your CPU's full power and your graphic card's power.
I for one do not follow benchmarks anymore. I used to when I used to build my own gaming rig with all the bells and whistles.
But to be honest, you will never, ever put your MB in such extreme.
If you're still not satisfied with your MB's performace, you can either follow or ignore my or sig's comments.

I am trying to connect my HDTV to my MacBook Pro using a Mini Display Port to HDMI and the TV seems to not be receiving any signal. Is there something wrong with my TV or Adapter?

Whenever I connect the minidisplay port to the HDMI cable, my MacBook Pro screen turns blue for a moment and then nothing shows on my HDTV. I have tried to "detect displays" with each resolution listed, but none seem to work with my tv. Is there any way to fix this issue?

I keep saying this over and over, in the hope that people who do a search will find it. Apple cannot possibly test for or be reponsible for the bazillion combinations of adapter, cables, and TV's out there. The only monitors that are 100% guaranteed to work with the MacBook Pro are the Cinema Displays and Thunderbolt Displays, because, they're made by Apple. They're expensive, but they work perfectly.
My guess is that you bought a cheap MDP to HDMI cable, or have a defective one. From my reading of these boards over the past few months, cheap cables have a high failure rate. And the regular priced ones have only a slightly less of one. Try a new one. Make sure you do not damage the Thunderbolt port.

Is there something wrong with the new update that keeps disconnecting my internet from my iPod touch 5g?

My home wifi has been disconnected from my iPod touch once again. It happened once yesterday morning and again this morning. After reattempting to connect again and again to the internet yesterday, it finally worked. But now I have the same problem.
I mean, my laptop has no internet connection issues whatsoever. So, I know it's not my internet's fault. And my iPod is practically brand new as well, so I'm assuming there's nothing wrong with it. Therefore, I'm not intending to bring it into the Apple store to have it checked out.
My last guess is that maybe it's some kind of glitch with the latest update? Are any other iPod touch 5g users who are experiencing the same problem?

You are not giving us enough information. A singe move can easiy take more than one GB. Ehne you click on the iPod under Devices in iTunes on the computer a colored bargraph will show the discribution of storage used on the iPod. What does that show? If the "other" category is greater than about 1 GB you can restore yu iPod, sometimes to factory defaults/new iPod is required, to get it to its normal of about 1/2 GB.

I feel as though the battery discharges far too quickly, often going from 96% charge ("8:27 remaining") to 87% charge ("5:08 remaining) or so in a matter of thirty minutes, perhaps sometimes more. I wasn't sure if this was due to having Mavericks since I have read that there have been a lot of cases where Mavericks has been responsible for short battery lives, or something of the sort.
I am sure that Chrome is responsible for the majority of the fast discharging of the battery, but find it hard to believe that it would take up so much energy so fast.
On a side note, I would like to know if there is a "better" way to charge the battery? Is it bad to have it plugged in the whole time? Should I only begin to charge it once it reaches 20% charge left or only charge it up to 80% charge to avoid overcharging? These are just some things I have read or heard here and there.

I would contact AppleCare and see what they have to say (90 days free phone support).

The info you're reading refers to older battery models. For current batts, you can charge them as often as you like; the only thing you don't want to do is let it sit for a year and go completely dead (this is not the same as letting it run down while you're using it until your MBP goes to sleep, that's fine).

hello, i'm expericing a small problem with my macbook. This isn't a big issue, but it's bothering me. Here's the problem. Every time i boot up my macbook (for the pass week or so), the apple logo is slightly enlarged or squished like if it was in some sort of wide screen mode. i know this is not normal. its almost like we you boot up a PC in safe mode. i don't know how it got like this, or if i did something to mess this up. Is there any way i can change it back to normal with out losing my information? thanks to who ever answers.

iTunes for Mac has never had an "Add folder to library" option. This is only available on Windows version.
Select Add to library, select the folder then click OK.
Or drag the folder(s) to the iTunes library at top left of iTunes.
