My number comes up blocked when calling others

i recently lost my pearl flip =( and had to get another blackberry cause i couldnt stand the nokia i had. i ended up finding a pearl 8110 for a good price so i bought it. i put my sim card in it and couldnt be happier with it except this one problem.
when i make calls to other people the number shows up 'private' or blocked on whose ever phone i am calling. alot of my friends and family will not answer private numbers so this is a problem! i assume there is a 'restrict identity' or something feature but i couldnt find it in any options. anyone else have a problem like this?
also, is there a way to change the sms/mms message tone?i can only change the ringtone.
any help is appreciated

1. Press the green dial key to enter the call log > Menu key > Restrict My Identity > No or never.
2. Profiles... edit your profiles on the device > Advanced > Active Profile > SMS. Set the tone there.

We are testing (trying) Tuxedo Connector between (from) WLS 6.1 (NT) and (to)
Tuxedo 6.5 (AIX). Calling the sample service "toupper" works fine. But WLS is
blocking when calling services that do not return the result in the same buffer
as input (as toupper does). When calling a Tuxedo service that returns its result
in a buffer it newly allocates (C library), from the WLS logging we see that it
was able to get the returned data size, but then it seems to block for the data
itself. Following are the two last logged WLS messages:

My Skype Number always shown busy when call

Since I bought my skype number it is always shown busy. Can you help?

Please contact customer service to request assistance with this.
Also, when you say, "My skype number is constantly busy when I am called (and I am not using it!),"
... please note that the Skype Number will not "ring busy" - if you are using Skype, incoming calls would be diverted according to your Tools -> Options settings. The Skype Number provides a phone number for people to reach you, but the number has nothing to do with outbound calls you place.

Cant hear ringer tone when calling others nor can hear who im calling

okay so everytime i make a call for the frist time i cant hear the ringer tone nor can hear the person im calling.
they say they can hear me perfectly but the only thing i hear is my own voice,
i see the call outgoes the iphone because the call timer starts to count but i cant hear the ringer nor the person im calling so i can never tell when they answer my call or not unless i see the timer.
Now i have to hang up and call again, THEN the second time i call i can hear the ringer and the person im calling when they answer.
i have an iphone 4s 32gb with iOS5 and siri is off, in fact i have never turned it on
any help? is my phone defective? or do i have to wait for an update to fix this?

GetURL:javascript blocked when called from a frame action in flash?

Hi,
I'm wrapping a load of flash/html eLearning content into air
packages - or at least I was!
The content is really old - flash 6 - and part of how it
works is once it has loaded, it calls a javascript function, via a
frame action. Each eLearning module relies on this call getting
made...
Sadly, this javascript call is never received - and having
done a test it is purely down to the call being from a frame rather
than a button (or other user interaction).
eg. a movie with 10 frames. frame 10 has this action:
(remember this is flash 6!)
stop();
getURL("javascript:foo());
foo is never called.
But put a button in with:
on(release){
getURL("javascript:foo());
that works fine. Same call, but via a button.
So really the question is - with air (or even is it something
in new flash security?) - is there some reason why a frame action
cannot call javascript? And if so - is there a parameter that can
be set (like allowScriptAccess type thing - although tried that!)
that will allow it again? Basically with over 1000 different flash
movies, I'm not really in a position to re-code (eg.
ExternalInterface does work! But can't recode 1000 movies to use
that!).
I've searched and can't see anything saying specifically a
frame action call to javascript will be ignored, but clearly it
is...
Any idea, anyone?

You are calling the script while the mouse button is still
down-- a
hijacking truck.
While it still works in older/unpatched IE, Microsoft has
disabled
resizeBy/To and moveBy/To while the mouse button is down.
Obviously, when
you have to click the Alert dialog's OK button, the mouse is
no longer down.
You'll need to take a different approach.

Problem in hearing ringer when calling other side, iPhone 4S ?

I updated iPhone version yesterday to the latest version iOS 7.1 and now when I'm calling my friends or home, I'm unable to hear the ringing tone !!!! but when I turn ON the loudspeaker and turn it OFF then I can hear the ringing sound

The main error is occuring at the following lines connectDB() and closeDB() in the class student manager. The class dbutil is in an another package.with an another file called connectionManager which establishes the connection with DB. The dbutil has the openconnection and close connection methods. I have not yet written the insert statements in StudentManager. PLease do Help me

You're doing quite a few things that will cause errors, I'm afraid. I'll see if I can help you.
The error you're asking about is caused by the following line:
dbutil.connectDB();
Now first of all please always ensure that your class names begin with capital letters and your instances of classes with lowercase letters. That's what everybody does, so it makes your code much easier to follow.
So re-write the couple of lines at the beginning of your dbutil class like this:
public class Dbutil {
/** Creates a new instance of Dbutil */
public Dbutil() {
Now you need to create an instance of dbutil before you can call connectDB() like this:
Dbutil dbutil = new Dbutil();
now you can call the method connectDB():
dbutil.connectDB();
The problem was that if you don't create an instance first then java assumes that you are calling a static method, because you don't need an instance of a class to call a static method. If it was static, the method code would have been:
public static void connectDB(){
You have a fine example of a static method call in your code:
ConnectionManager.getConnection();
If it wasn't a static method your code would have to look like this:
ConnectionManager connectionManager = new ConnectionManager();
connectionManager.getConnection();
See the difference? I also know that ConnectionManager.getConnection() is a call to a static method because it begins with a capital letter.
Anyway - now on to other things:
You have got two different Connection objects called conn. One is in StudentManager and the other is in Dbutils, and for the moment they have nothing to do with each other.
You call dbUtil.connectDb() and so if your connectDb method is working properly you have a live connection called conn in your dbUtil object. But the connection called conn in StudentManager is still null.
If your connection in the dbUtil object is working then you could just add a line after the call to connectDb() in StudentManager so that the StudentManager.conn object references the dbUtil.conn object like this:
dbutil.connectDB();
conn = dbUtil.conn;

found the problem...
i used this at the top of all the .java files....
package divelog;
then my dir tree looked like this....
/home/mohadib/java_restore/DIveLog
so i changed to
/home/mohadib/java_restore/divelog
and compiled with this....
javac -classpath /home/mohadib/java_restore DiveLog.java
then ran it with this.....
java -classpath /home/mohadib/java_restore divelog.DiveLog

Blocking incoming calls

Good Afternon. Would someone please explain the 10 phone number limit for blocking incoming calls? I have used Vonage [which has no limit] Optimum on line [100 limit] Time Warner [30 limit and it cleared the list every 90 days] Fios only offers me 10 ? Are you aware of the problem with telemarketers? I don't think so. I'd like Fios to be more proactive in allowing me to defend the peace and quiet of my home, by expanding this area. It's quite pitiful compared to other vendors I have used, and it is the Main reason that I am not renewing my contract with Fios when we are done. Thank you.

*60 (Call Block) is the easiest way to block an incoming caller, however to my understanding only local, landline numbers can be blocked with *60. To use it, simply dial *60 and follow the prompts. But call Verizon first to set up a monthly subscription or you will be charged per use charges which can really add up.
A really great option which I have on my landline phone is called Do Not Disturb. You can make a list of up to 15 phone numbers which are the only people who can get through to you when you have DND turned on. (You can turn it on and off anytime you want through an 800 number.) NO other calls, including telemarketers, "unavailable" numbers, etc. can get through. If you have home voice mail you can choose to send the blocked calls to your voice mail so they can leave a message. Otherwise they will get a recording saying "The party you are calling does not wish to be disturbed at this time." There are also two other rejection messages you can choose.
Also you can choose a 4 digit pin to give to people you want to be able to get through but I have never used that option; I just put them on the "allowed numbers" list.

Skype number not displaying correctly with Caller ID

Hello, I have had my Skype number for several years and it's been no problem for those with Caller ID to have my Skype number displayed when receiving a call from me. However, the past few months this has changed dramatically. Now, my Skype number is NEVER displayed when calling someone and in fact, most of the time it displays numbers or even names randomly which have zero relation to myself or my number. Other times, the users Caller ID will display "Skype User". Why has this suddenly happened and what can be done to ensure that it's corrected and working properly again?
My account is indeed configured to display my Skype number (as it has been for several years), but this has no longer has any bearing whatsoever on the number displayed when I call someone. I have found that some people are no longer accepting my calls since they have no idea that I am the one calling them.
This is happening when I call numbers in the U.S. and sometimes Canada and does not matter where my physical location is - if I am in the U.S., U.K., Hong Kong, Taiwan, etc, the result is always the same - my number is NOT displayed.
If anyone could offer some advice which would take care of this, I would be most appreciative. Thank you, Greg

But that same FAQ indicates that Caller ID is available for the U.S. And this is where I make the majority of my calls. However, as I mentioned in my original post, my Caller ID has NOT been displayed for several months. What is displayed are randomly changing phone numbers and names that have no bearing whatsoever with anything related to my actual Skype number or name. I've done my own testing when calling my home phone from Skype. I'll call multiple times in quick succession and I will get different results each and every time. Did you use the free blocking option for up to five phone numbers? If yes, then the block expired 90 days after you added it and the number wasn't blocked anymore.
