I use Earthlink mailbox, and I want my email links to open with Firefox, but they open with Internet Explorer; how to fix?

I am using Windows XP 2002 operating system; Earthlink mailbox program for email with AT&T Broadband.
I want to have Firefox as my default browser, but my email links open with Internet Explorer. I have followed the Firefox help page to set Firefox as my browser, but the problem remains.

I have Microsoft Outlook also with Firefox and can open just about every link, url, company page, etc via the email links. First, make sure you have noted the email as NOT JUNK so that the links are activated by Outlook. Second, Firefox needs to your default browser for the links to open in Firefox rather than IE. There are some links from Microsoft that may ignore the default and open in IE but not all anymore. I have a Sony laptop which ignores the default browser and opens all of its support information from its VAIO software loaded on the computer in IE. Besides that though, over 95% of my items will open in my default brwser selection, which is currently Firefox.

Ebay app - Ebay email links wont open in ebay app

Hello,
I have new items on saved searches emailed to me daily.
When I first used my iPhone when opening an item from an email it opened
in the eBay app in mobile format, I disabled this and chose for them to
open in full format in safari. How do I deactivate the full version and
revert back to using the eBay app for opening email links for new items.
I have tried uninstalling, deleting all ebay dada and reinstalling - no difference
I have a 3gs

Email links wont open browser

I use Outlook2003 as my mail client, and it has worked perfectly until yesterday. When I click on a link in email Firefox will not open itself up and go to the requested link. In fact, it does nothing. However, if Firefox is open it will open a new tab and go to the requested link. Why won't it open itself up anymore? It used to open up just fine.

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache.
Note: ''This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to.''
To clear cache and cookies do the following:
#Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
#Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
#Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
#From the details list, check ''Cache'' and ''Cookies'' and uncheck everything else.
#Now click the ''Clear now'' button.

Since updating to Version 5 EU1.1, Firefox does not open from Outlook email links despite having all program defaults - how can I fix this, please?

Clicking on a weblink in an Outlook email fails to open the website in Firefox even when the browser is already open. Firefox is set as default browser. There was no problem with this before the latest Firefox update a few days ago.
I have tried changing program defaults to Internet Explorer (email links worked) and then back again to Firefox, but email links still don't work.

Go into FF Preferences & set it to be your default browser. This way when you click on an email link in Chrome, FF will open.

I did not change any preferences -- but every live url in an email is now opening in Firefox and I always use Safari
I can't find anywhere in Mail to change what the default browser is and it is driving me nuts

How do I move my Outlook emails, currently viewed on Mozilla Firefox v26, to an external hard drive while I format my C drive?

I am using Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit version. I have been viewing my Outlook email and contacts via Mozilla Firefox v26. However I have got to format my C drive to get rid of a malfunction. How do I move my emails and my contacts from the C drive to an external drive? I need to do this so as not to lose all my email information. I would then want to restore it to Mozilla Firefox 26 after I have formatted the C drive and reloaded Firefox? I would very grateful for any detailed information about how I go about this!

Firefox doesn't store your email or contacts, it displays that data from the webmail server that you connect to with Firefox.

Can't get email links to open in TenFourFox for Mail version 3.6.

I just switched to TenFourFox and I can't get my email links to open in it. I have changed the RSS setting numberous times, tried quiting mail, etc. and it keeps defaulting to Safari. Any suggestions.
Also, my email says that java pluggins need to be enabled. How?

i just fixed this on my machine running 10.6.8. the typical workaround is to add appropriate UUIDs, which get updated with each new os build, and break plugins (see here). Follow those instructions, but instead of adding the UUIDs they suggest for 10.6.7, add these (I found them on my machine running 10.6.8, and they work):

for fixing on os x version 10.6.7, this may help (though letterbox 0.24b9 should work already).
i emailed the author (aaron harnly, harnly.net) about this, but haven't heard back (a few days). to be sure, i am quite grateful, as i think we all are, for his excellent plugin, and this workaround is quite simple for dealing with updates.

I experienced the same problem yesterday on the iPhone 4.1.3GS.

I cannot get an Outlook e-mail with a link to open in Firefox, it hangs.

E-mails which I open in Outlook 2010 often have web links in them. Lately, I have been unable to get them to open in Firefox or Adobe Reader 10. I need help, but this requires co-ordinating HP, Microsoft, Mozilla and Adobe, unless you know how I can simplify this issue.

Do the following please: 
#Open Internet Explorer, go to Tools | Internet Options | Programs. 
#Where you see the Email dropdown menu, change it to Outlook 2010. 
#Apply/OK. 
Your email client should now open links in any browser you've set as the default browser.

Links from emails do not open in Firefox

Recently when I click on a link (usually from an email), it will not open in Firefox. Although I am taken to Firefox, the new link doesn't open, instead I just see the windows that were already open. This was working before. I reinstalled Firefox which seemed to fix the problem for a week or so, but now it's not working again.
I checked and Firefox is set as the default browser, and there are no security problems in the error report. I am running version 3.6.12 on a MacBook Pro using Snow Leopard

some say its to do with uninstalling chrome which i have just done.. there is no simple fix to it... well depends how computer literate you are i suppose... some suggest reinstalling chrome in order to resolve it.. i am not sure that i wouldnt make matters worse if i tried to fix it. see:

I am having the same problem - remedies attempted - check FFx is default browser (yes), software update and computer restart, reboot Mail * 4, check all Mail settings for options (none I can see ), check all FFx settings for same (none I can see), no result, look in here and see that other folks having same issue - will Apple respond (I will book a support session by phone as I have applecare. Mail also used to mark mails as read once I had selected them - now it insists that I double click and open them before it changes the marking - pain in the butt ...

Email links when clicked causes Firefox to open many multiple tabs, unable to close any of them, in other words, crashes. Anyone else having this problem?

I cannot click on any email links on any pages. It causes Firefox to open many, many multiple tabs, which I cannot close. My only recourse is to quit Firefox and relaunch. It happens most of the time, so that in order to click an email link I must open another browser altogether.

You can look at the network.protocol-handler.external.mailto prefs on the about:config page. 
If network.protocol-handler.external.mailto prefs are user set (bold) then right-click and Reset them to the default value. 
You can open about: pages via the location bar like you open a website.
Did you try to delete the file mimeTypes.rdf in the Firefox Profile Folder?
