My phone has died. I tried upgrading my Iphone 3gs yesterday to ios. It failed to update, it has failed to restore. Now its just showing a plug and Itunes on the screen. Please help soonest
My I phone is literally dead. I tried upgarding the software yestreday, it refused saying there was an error, I was given an option to restore it, it has failed. Now there is no old software as well as the new software. Its showing a plug and an Itunes signal on top. Thats all that it has. I will be very grateful to receive any form of help out there.
The iOs 5.1 is a huge file that needs to be dowloaded when updating/restoring, your phone hasnt completed the update so its now in recovery mode. Look on the left of itunes, it should say downloads under the store section with a spinning wheel, click that and youll see the update file with a time remaining, wait for that download to finish then try the restore again and it should work

I did force shutdown on my MacBook Pro (2006 year, 15.4"), so, when I tried to boot, it shows apple logo (as usual) and shuts down. When I booting MacBook with Option key pressed it shows lock icon and field for password. Please help me.
Wait for advice on repairing a damaged filesystem. Forceshutdown stops processs in mid-stream and leaves some parts not-valid.

You might try:
Placing your device into recovery (DFU) mode:
Follow these steps to place your iOS device into recovery mode. If your iOS device is already in recovery mode, you can proceed immediately to step 6.
1. Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, but leave the
other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds
until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
* If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the

No, you do not need to nor should you jailbreak your iPhone.
If you jailbreak your iPhone, you void any remaining warranty and lose
all support from Apple including this forum.
4 possible causes to activation server unavailable message:
1] activation server is actually unavailable. Happens very rarely and
does not last long on those rare occasions. Solution is to try again.
2] your firewall/internet security software/antivirus are preventing connection
to the activation server. Solution is to temporarily turn off your firewall/internet
security software/antivirun until you have activated your iPhone.
3] your iPhone has been jailbroken or otherwise hacked/modified.
4] the computer you are using to activate the iPhone has been used to
jailbreak an iOS device.
For causes 3] & 4] you are on your own as Terms of Use for this forum prohibit
discussion of jailbroken/modified iOS devices. Google may provide some direction.
Be advised that jailbreaking/hacking your iPhone may prevent the iPhone from
being able to be activated. -

Now sidebar is showing my folders multiple times!!! Please help
Hi,
Well after messing around with the Downloads icons and trying to copy and paste it to another icon (see my post below) I have now found that for some strange reason all of the folders in my sidebar under 'Places' are being displayed multiple times.
I rebooted the machines and it created even more icons for them!! I now have 2 Applications, 2 Desktop, 2 Documents, 2 Downloads, 4 Movies, 4 Music, 4 Pictures, 2 Home and 4 Trash icons.
I tried dragging some off the sidebar but after rebooting even more appeared. Gonna try rebooting again.
If someone know what to do please can you let me know?

Shams.Ok well after dragging the extra icons off and then rebooting a 2nd time it seems to have worked.
Just out of curiosity and in case the problem resurfaces, isn't deleting that co.apple.sidebarlists.plist file a very bad thing to do?? Or will it be recreated on booting up again?

Please help, I repaired an iphone 5c and have now tried two different lcd screens on it but all I get is a black screen or a black screen with a vertical blue line on the left hand side of the screen. I definitely have the cables connected properly etc and before I repaired it the phone had a cracked screen and there was a picture on it.
I have tried hard reset and nothing. I have tried connecting to iTunes but it asks me to confirm on the iPhone which I can't do as there is nothing on the display. I have tried randomly pressing all over the screen but it doesn't work. So I can't even try restoring it on iTunes.
Please help any advice will be appreciated! I successfully have repaired iphone 4's and iphone 5 before but this is the first iphone 5c.
