I SCREWD UP AND SHUT DOWN MY MAC WHEN IT WAS IN THE PRIVLEDGES STAGE BECAUSE MY PLUG-INS FOR AFTER EFFECTS WASNT WORKING, WHEN I SHUT IT DOWN AND TRIED TO START IT BACK UP, MY MAC KEPT RESTARTING, TEST-RAN-ERROR..4MOT/1/40000003:HDD-14444? WAT IS THIS? WAT DO I DO TO GET MY MAC BACK RUNNING

I believe you've posted this multiple times. Once is all that's needed. Also, please don't use all caps. Aside from the fact it means you're shouting it's also harder to read than mixed case.
The error means a bad fan motor or the HDD has failed. In your case it's the latter.  You can try the following:
    Drive Preparation
    1.  Boot from your OS X Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button.  When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  SMART info will not be reported  on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
    5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
    6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
When formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer.  Complete the OS X installation.

  • How can I make my computer restart with all the same windows that were open when a shut it down?

How can I make my computer restart with all the same windows that were open when a shut it down?

That is the way Mac OS X 10.8 (aka Mountain Lion) works by default. Are you actually running that system? (See About This Mac in the Apple menu.) If so, make sure the check box in the shut down alert is checked:

  • Can I set Thunderbird to close all tabs when I shut it down so the next session starts fresh.

I would prefer to have a clear work platform each time I start Thunderbird and only see tabs relevant to that session. If the program could be set to close all tabs automatically when I shut down, that would solve my problem.
    Thanks,
    Keith Marshall.

I guess your best bet is to right-click the most left tab - 'Close Other Tabs' before shutting down Thunderbird.

  • Why does my Power MAC G4 keep restarting itself after I shut it down?

    Hi,
    Thanks for reading this.
Why does my Power MAC G4 keep restarting itself after I shut it down?
This JUST started happening only 4 days ago.
Most recent installation was Limewire, but I removed it to see if this problem would go away.
I have 3 internal drives (See drive types below) that all have OS 10 on them in order to be able to boot up from either drive in the event of trouble.
    However...
No matter WHICH drive I use as the start up drive... the computer STILL restarts itself after it is properly commanded to shut down.
Prior to the Limewire install... the ADOBE creative suite was installed.
There is a Lexmark X83 printer hooked to the computer, which, it seems doesn't matter if it is left on or off... the computer still restarts itself.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

    Hi, Tommy!
If you still have problems, trash the following three preference files, then shut down and do a PMU reset. (PMU reset procedure for the QS is the same as is shown at the link for the Gigabit Ethernet.)
    HD/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.AutoWake.plist
    HD/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.PowerManagement.plist
    User/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systemuiserver.plist

  • When a video is sent to my iphone4 (from an iphone4 or 5) as a message it is clear on the sending phone but fuzzy when I receive it.  Why would that be?

When a video is sent to my iphone 4 (from an iphone 4 or 5) as a message it is clear on the sending phone but fuzzy when I receive it.  Why would that be?

Sent as an MMS, or as an iMessage?
If sent as an MMS, the carrier reduces the size and quality of a video sent as an MMS.
The same shouldn't apply with iMessage but it might.

  • Subsequent to Yosemite or updates, my repeating calendar events can not be updated as before. When I update an event (of the repeating event) on my MacBook Pro; its reverts back when I shut it down and come back, and doesn't update other devices?

Subsequent to Yosemite or updates, my repeating calendar events can not be updated as before. When I update an event (of a repeating event) on my MacBook Pro; its reverts back when I shut it down and come back, and doesn't update other devices?
Has anyone experienced this and does anyone know a fix?

This is incredibly frustrating for me too!
I have a repeated monthly event for a discount at a store that is offered on the first Tuesday of every month. So I have a repeated event taking place on the 1st of every month. In the previous month I reset next month's date from the 1st to whatever date falls on the first Tuesday.
But ever since upgrading to Yosemite, I am experiencing the same problem as the original person who posted. The date saves on my calendar but does not sync to my iCloud. When I reboot the computer, the date reverts back to the 1st.
I'm thankful I don't have any events that needed to be tracked because ALL of my previous changes in the past have reverted back to the 1st of the month. I would have been in the same terrible situation as yaz999 in having to manually change every event in previous months.
Why hasn't this bug been fixed yet???!!!

  • Itunes restart automatically when i quit it

    Hello
I'm running os x Lion 10.7.4 and iTunes last version 10.6.3 on an Imac 24" 2.8GHZ  core 2 duo (4go ram) early 2008
When i quit itunes, it restart automatically, impossible to stop it. It uses all my cpu too.
There is no message in the console output
    Please help me
    Thanks

The first thing I'd suggest is to get a good antispyware checker and give it a go at your system. Some recent spyware has been reported by other users to shut down iTunes or prevents it from launching. From user reports, Ewido seems to be the best at catching it. You can download a free version of Ewido here.

  • ThinkCentre M73 Restarts When I Shut It Down

Here's a strange one.  My ThinkCentre M73, Windows 8.1, just purchased last week, restarts after I shut windows down.  And it's not because I click the "Restart" button.  When I click Shut Down, it shuts down, and then in about 3 seconds it starts up again.  Any ideas?

Thanks for the hint.  I could not find any wake checkbox on the network adapter configuration, but I have a "Wake" set up in Windows Home Server 2011 when it tries to back it up.  I will check that and let you know.  Thanks.

  • OS 9.2 restarts automatically, won't shut down.

Hi all and thanks for all help. I upgraded from 8.6 to 9.2.
All good except that the computer starts itself after power out or shutdown. Also my optical mouse needs to be unplugged and replugged after startup.
I had some USB issues after upgrade and replaced the USB device extension with the old one from 8.6 which got my mouse working.
    cheers jeremy

    Hi, jed2000 -
OS 9.2 is a model-specific version. Perhaps you meant to enter OS 9.2.1 or OS 9.2.2?
...replaced the USB device extension with the old one from 8.6...
That may not have been a good idea - most OS files from OS 8.6 do not work well with OS 9. Instead, you can try earlier versions of that extension from earlier versions of OS 9. You can use the utility TomeViewer to extract (expand) any files you want from an Installation Tome on an OS Install CD or download disk image, without running the installer.
    How to use TomeViewer
Since your Beige G3 did not come with built-in USB, a PCI card must have been added to provide that bus. Some of those cards require OEM software in order to function properly. If your card does need special software, if you did not re-install that software after upping the OS to OS 9.2.x, do so. You may also need to check the card or software manufacturer's website to see if there's an update for it for use with OS 9.2.x.
The problem re auto-startup after shutdown is usually caused by an attached USB device, typically a printer although it can be most anything, including a hub.
Also, check in the Energy Saver control panel, Advanced Settings tab - if the last item, "Restart automatically...", is checkmarked, uncheck it.

  • Why won't my Mac lock when I shut it down?

I have recently found out that my Mac won't lock after I shut it down. And if I leave it in sleep mode, all I have to do to bypass the password screen is just restart it. What can I do to fix this?

Make sure "Automatic login" is selected "Off" under Users & Groups > Login Options.
    Is this option selected?

  • Why does my MacBook Pro Force Restart After I Manually Shut it Down?

I don't understand. At night when I shut down my computer, the force restart screen comes up and its killing me. I always have external HD's plugged in, so I know this is not good for them either. Please help!

I would recommend that you run your Disk Utility. You can find this under Finder<Applications<Utilities and then Disk Utility. I have had fore restarts happen to me and after running this it went away. Just make sure you select the hard drive you suspect is giving you issues.
         Hope this helps!    - Nate
