My phone seems to be on mute

my phone seems to be on mute and I can't figure out on to turn the sound back on. in General settings I have the sounds on.

Check the "mute" switch on the side of the iPhone.  It's a bar right near the volume up-down circular buttons.  You should not see a red dot nearby.  If you do, slide the "mute" switch toward the screen side of the iPhone to hide the red dot.
