Check your security software and settings, which can block ports and prevent connection to Apple servers during update and restore.
Common errors: 2, 4, 6, 9, 1000, 1611, 9006, 9807, 9844. Sometimes as a result of this issue, a device might stop responding during the restore process.

This means that either your firewall/antivirus is blocking access to Apple's servers, or you have used your computer to jailbreak an iDevice in the past. The link above tells you how to resolve this issue. -

Error 1004, 1013, 1638, 3014, 3194: These errors may be the result of the connection to gs.apple.com being redirected or blocked. Follow these steps to resolve these errors:
Install the latest version of iTunes.
Check security software and ensure that communication to gs.apple.com is allowed. Follow these stepsfor assistance with security software.
Check the hosts file. The restore will fail if there is an active entry to redirect gs.apple.com. Follow theadvanced iTunes Store troubleshooting steps to edit the hosts file or revert to a default hosts file. See "Blocked by configuration: (Mac OS X/Windows) > Rebuild network information."
Try to restore from another known-good computer and network.
If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.

I know that it can be frustrating when you cannot open iTunes or sign in with your Apple ID. There may be a few different troubleshooting steps I would recommend. I would first recommend that you completely uninstall iTunes and all of its related components in the correct order, however. Steps
Remove iTunes and related components from the Control Panel.Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order. Then restart your computer.

Apple Mobile Device Support
Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Don't uninstall these components in a different order, or only uninstall some of them. Doing so might have unintended affects.

When I try to play a song iTunes says "Original file could not be found"
I am getting a "!" next to my songs, and the message that the file cannot be used because the original file cannot be found.
iTunes' library keeps track of where your tracks are located. If you move a track, or keep your music on an external drive and don't turn it on before starting iTunes, or your computer's file system becomes corrupted, or iTunes' library gets corrupted, or..., then iTunes goes to where it thinks the file is located, can't find it, and you get !

Firefox is not open, will not open, but when I try to update or uninstall it says I need to close Firefox first. This is a common problem, as I have seen many posts with the same problem. I don't know what else I can say about it, it is pretty straightforward.

My pages do not come up when I try to visit them in the web browser - ie the top page links do not work.
How do I reconnect the links to their relevant pages again (I use iWeb)The background photo is on top of the links. Select it and move it to the back or add the background image via the Inspector/Page/Layout pane in the Page Background section.

I have been given an Apple 3G which is in jailbreak. After restoring and updating my phone to get rid of jailbreak the iphone will not accept any updates or restoration. Unknown error 1015. Please help! I am new to all this and want to start using the phone legitimately.
I believe from the situation you describe your iPhone 3g has the iPAD baseband 6.15.00 which is interfering with iTunes. Remember Apple does not allow downgrade of software typically. The current 3g firmware 4.2.1 has a baseband 5.15.04 which is lower than, what I believe your baseband is of 6.15.00. So to install the current 3g firmware 4.2.1 would actually be a baseband downgrade, which iTunes will not allow. So to fix your iPhone you will have to search the Web like diesel vdub said. There are no parts to buy and your iPhone will work again I promise.

It's trying to download when you are connected via cellular. Turn cellular Off and then connect via wifi.

I am trying to update my Iphone 3 and when i get to the activation step after a few minutes it shows a message that says " Your iPhone could not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable. Thanks for the update and clarification. In researching the issue it seems that the 2003 error code may have something to do with the USB connection. I would use this section of one of the above articles:
Get help with iOS update and restore errors
If the USB connection between your device and computer is interrupted, you might not be able to update or restore.
To narrow down the issue, you can try different equipment:
Use the USB cable that came with your device, or a different Apple USB cable.
Plug your cable into a different USB port directly on your computer. Don't plug it into your keyboard.
Try a different computer.
Solve other issues with the USB connection, then with your security software.
If you still see the error message, check for hardware issues by following the next section.
Check for hardware issues
Related errors: 1, 3, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, 20, 21, 23, 26, 27, 28, 29, 34, 35, 36, 37, 40, 1002, 1004, 1011, 1012, 1014, 1667, or 1669.
These errors mean that your device or computer might have a hardware issue that stops the update or restore from completing.
Check that your security software and settings aren't blocking your device from communicating with the Apple update server.
Then try to restore your iOS device two more times while connected with a cable, computer, and network you know are good.
Make sure that your security software and settings are allowing communication between your device and update servers.
If you still see the error message when you update or restore, contact Apple support.
