I had the same problem so (assuming under the Purchased items in the Store you have a song stuck at 'Downloading'):
I went to Music, then Artists.
From there I chose the album.
The song that failed to download had the cloud symbol next to it.
I clicked the cloud symbol and the song completed the download for me.
(Please note this was in iTunes for Windows - I expect it to be similar in iTunes for Apple)

Okay so my phone crashes approximately every 30 seconds. I have tried resetting it by DPU as well as on the phone itself. Once in awhile i get an error message about unknown error 1. If i look at the diagnosis or if runs on itunes i get the following. When I called the support at AT&T they think the phone is shot and it is a hardware thing but i have a hard time believing that when it happened when I sync'd it to my computer. It did get progressively worse though, at first it crashed not that often and then got worse. So restores are failing, recovery, everything. Anyone run into this?

I recently got a free £25 itunes gift voucher, i used it the other day and the amount was deducted off the debit card. Having looked at my bank statement i found that i had also been deducted the same amount of my debit card. Long story short, itunes has charged my gift voucher & my debit card. How do i go about getting a refund for the amount deducted on my debit card.
If the page that you postted from doesn't help then you will need to try contacting iTunes support (you will need to give them as much of the serial number and activation code from the card as you can read) : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then iTunes Cards And Codes

I got a new cord from apple and still same thing. What do I do next?
Chris....
Thank you for your considerate and thorough response.
I think what most of ya'll don't realize is that this OP first appeared in the Using ASC forum - or else I would never have even seen it.
Whether it was mis-posted by the OP in Using ASC (happens ALL the TIME), and subsequently moved to the appropriate iPhone forum, or was mis-directed to the Using ASC forum list by the New SiteWare (happens all the time too) -- is irrelevant. I have gotten tired of trying to track which one as it seems there is and may not ever be a solution.
When you see me in a thread/forum other than Using ASC, OS 10.4.11, Powerbook or Quicktime... you can be certain that one of the two aforementioned happened.
The fact that it was in that list is precisely why I think it is important for those who frequent there to be somewhat jacks-of-all-trades to an extent.
I can certainly evaluate whether an OP has provided adequate information for someone else who's bailiwick in eventually falls to help (and not have to do the simple job - "did you read how to make a good question?" )
Thanx agin Chris

I am getting an error message saying "an unknown error has occurred" everytime I try and down load an App. My ID and password are entered correctly. What am I doing wrong and how do I get rid of this?
If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Select "/var/log/install.log" from the file list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar. Then select the messages from the last installation or update attempt, starting from the time when you initiated it. If you're not sure when that was, start over and note the time. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out by search-and-replace in a text editor before posting. -
I purchased an album on ITunes store, while the items downloaded to my phone, it didn't download to my mac. Some of the songs downloaded but not the majority, when I try to download the songs, it gives me an error 8003 Unknown error occured. What am I doing wrong? If I can't download this album, how do I get a credit??
Hello mercdw,
Once the music has been downloaded to your iPhone, you can transfer purchases from your device to iTunes.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848
Alternatively, the following article provides further information regarding this error and steps that can help resolve the issue.
"Error -50," "-5000," "8003," "8008," or "-42023"
These alerts occur due to timeouts or conflicts trying to write a file during download.
If you encounter this issue while accessing iTunes Store:
See iTunes 9: "One Moment Please" or "Error (-50)" message when accessing iTunes Store
If you encounter this issue while while downloading something from the iTunes Store:
Delete your iTunes Downloads folder, located in:
Mac OS X: ~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Downloads Note: "iTunes Media" may appear as "iTunes Music. Also, the tilde (~) refers to your Home directory.
Windows Vista: \Users\username\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Downloads\
Windows 7: \Users\username\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Downloads\
Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Downloads\
After locating your iTunes Downloads folder:
Quit iTunes.
Delete the Downloads folder on your computer.
Open iTunes.
Choose Store > Check for Available Downloads.
Enter your account name and password.
If you encounter this issue while while downloading Digital Copies using Windows:
Use MSCONFIG (directions for Windows XP and Windows Vista/Windows 7) to disable conflicting software.
If using MSCONFIG steps resolves the issue, you may want to use the System Configuration Utility to turn on the third-party System Services and Startup Items one at a time (restarting your computer after turning on the item or items) to identify which System Service or Startup Item is causing the conflict.
You can turn all of them back on by selecting the Normal Startup option under the General tab of the System Configuration Utility window, but please note that this may cause the issue to reoccur.
If you are able to isolate the issue to a particular third-party software, you may wish to contact them to let them know of the conflict.

When I open iTunes, I get the error message 'unknown error has occurred (-50)' It repeat this message when I plug my iPhone in and it will not let me sync!! Please help, I think this began after an update of iTunes, but it has not resolved after trying to revert to the earlier version.
Hi, Hoofin22.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Here are a couple articles that provide some helpful troubleshooting steps for error -50. Also make sure the most current version of iTunes is installed.
iTunes Store: "Error (-50)" when downloading purchased content
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1583
iTunes: Specific update-and-restore error messages and advanced troubleshooting
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3694
Error 13, 14, 35 and 50 (or -50)
These errors are typically resolved by performing one or more of the steps listed below:
Perform USB isolation troubleshooting, including trying a different USB port directly on the computer. See the advanced steps below for USB troubleshooting.
Put a USB 2.0 hub between the device and the computer.
Try a different Dock Connector or Lightning Connector to USB cable.
Eliminate third-party security software conflicts.
There may be third-party software installed that modifies your default packet size in Windows by inserting one or more TcpWindowSize entries into your registry. An incorrectly set default packet size can cause this error. Contact the software manufacturer that installed the packet-size modification for assistance. Or, follow this article by Microsoft to reset the packet size back to the default for Windows:How to reset Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
Connect your computer directly to your Internet source, bypassing any routers, hubs, or switches. You may need to restart your computer and modem to get online.
Try to restore from another known-good computer and network.
Hope that helps,
Jason H. -
For some unknown reason, I am unable to sync my ipad2 with my desktop. I receive a message saying it cannot sync due to an unknown error 1140.
Hate to have to run to the apple store to get this resolved...hope someone here knows the answer !! I need to sync !!
Thank You.Experienced User Terrell Smith recently posted on this Error Code:
Terrell Smith:
"Today I was in an Apple Store, and four Apple Geniuses could not solve this problem. It seems to have something with large iPhoto Libraries, because when I started iPhoto up with a small library (1,100 photos), the problem did not occur. In iTunes, under the Photo's option "Sync Photos," if the iPhoto library is large (38,000 photos), the option to select the radio button "Selected albums, Events, and Faces" is grayed out, and you cannot select it.
My guess is that since the large iPhoto library will not fit on your iOS device, iTunes throws the 1140 error.
As others have noted, if you uncheck "Sync Photos" in iTunes, the rest of things will sync instead of throwing the 1140 error message.
But you don't have synced photos then.
The Apple Store told me they have no solution for this error. We should file iPhoto Feedback, and that this issue has been escalated to Apple Engineering."

Hope this helps -

Every time I open the browser an error message pops up, it says:
"The operation can bot be completed because of an internal failure. A secure network communication has not been cleaned up correctly."
The main difference I saw is that my home page, a customize igoogle one that needs login, is redirected to the main igoogle page because login is not successful and I had to manually do it. Even if I state to remember me, it doesn't work once I close the browser. This is a known bug that will be fixed in beta 7. You should only get that error message the first time after updating Firefox. If you are getting it all the time, are you switching between different versions of Firefox?
Do you still have an earlier version of Firefox installed, and if you do does it use the same profile as the beta version. If you do that can cause problems since Firefox 4 handles extensions in a different way than earlier versions of Firefox. If you do have 2 versions of Firefox installed, you need to use 2 different profiles.

It's only a theory, but I guess the horror stories I've been reading about dead players after trying to update to the latest firmware has to do with the version you're updating from. Maybe I'm wrong, but we could make a statistic and try to find out
