My Safari displays text in certains spots on a web page as mixed characters

My Safari displays text in certains spots on a web page as mixed characters. Is there a fix for this or does anyone have an idea what may be going on? I have looked at my fonts and everything seems to be working just fine. I can't quite figure out why this only happens to certain text and not others. But I can't read half of the pages on the web because of this. I can copy the mixed up text out of Safari and past it in another application and the copy is in perfect english then.

I work as a graphic designer so I keep a very clsoe eye on my font library. In fact I don't use font Book, I use Suitcase Fusion. But i went to font book and double checked and I don't have any duplicae fonts in there. Would you have any other ideas?

Another method is tosave your Word document as an a web page. Then open the htm file, copy the text and paste into an HTML snippet on your web page. Resize to show all the document and publish. It will retain the style, font and alignment of the original Word document.

Hi there guys... anyone can help resolve my issue regarding accessing amazon.co.uk , tfl.gov.uk.. Its been a week now that my imac internet connection refuse to load web pages from amazon and tfl using safari and chrome....try to access those website in my macbook pro using the same network...the result is ok...strange???

The IP address should be unique between the two computers. The DNS settings should be the same for both. Other things you can check in the network settings: Make sure the Search Domains box is empty. If you click the 'advanced' tab in the network settings and check your DNS settings in here, the DNS Servers box should be populated normally with at least two servers and should match your macbook.
In order to check if you are having a network and/or a name resolution error (you can't find the server www.apple.com). Go to your Macintosh Hard Drive, the Applications folder, the Utilities folder, then launch the application called Network Utility. From the network utility, select the ping menu, then in the box for which network address to ping, enter www.apple.com. You should get a repeated message something along the lines of:
Ping has started…
PING e3191.c.akamaiedge.net (69.192.93.15): 56 data bytes
64 bytes from 69.192.93.15: icmp_seq=0 ttl=52 time=66.232 ms
64 bytes from 69.192.93.15: icmp_seq=1 ttl=52 time=66.461 ms
64 bytes from 69.192.93.15: icmp_seq=2 ttl=52 time=66.547 ms
If you get an error saying cannot resolve host www.apple.com: Unknown host. Then your imac can't resolve the name www.apple.com to it's corresponding ip address. If you get this error, I would then try pinging 69.192.93.15 and see if you can reach that.
If you can ping the number (69.192.93.15) but not www.apple.com, that would indicate that your imac is having problems resolving the name www.apple.com to the ip, which would be a DNS issue. You at this point should make sure your DNS for your imac matches the macbook exactly.
If both the name and address ping properly, then it seems the issue is more isolated to the browser and not your network settings. I would suspect that since you are having problems with both chrome and safari (and probably would with firefox), it is probably a network issue. The above test can narrow it down a little.

How to display response of http request as a web page in ABAP?

In ABAP, we can use class cl_http_client to send a http requst and then got the response data as a XSTRING variable. Usually, the response data is the html source of a web page. How to display this web page within dynpro?
I found we can use class cl_gui_html_viewer to display the web page of a URL or data in SAP web respository. Is there any way of using it to load response data in cl_http_client and display that web page?

to get the response data in string format instead of xstring format.
2. use FM CONVERT_STRING_TO_TABLE to covert the string to table of type W3HTML
3. use method
data: l_doc_url(255) type c.
 call method html_control->load_data
 exporting
 type = 'text'
 subtype = 'html'
 importing
 assigned_url = l_doc_url
 changing
 data_table = html_table.
call method html_control->show_data
 exporting
 url = l_doc_url.
to load the html content and show it in cl_gui_html_viewer

How do i display my labview front panel on a web-page and update it say eyery 5 seconds, I think i need Lookout?

My front panel display updates every 20secs. I want to be able to view the Labview front panel on a web-page which updates itself continuously. Will Lookout do this?

LabVIEW will do this with it's built in web server. Full control of a LabVIEW front panel is possilbe with version 6.1. Older versions have the ability to publish a panel with no control. What version do you have? Lookout is a completely different software package for HMI/SCADA applications and has no relationship to LabVIEW except that they're sold by the same company.

Safari 8 Cuts off the top of every web page

Ok, so I'm looking for a solution or I want to know if other people are having the same problem so hopefully apple will fix it.
As my title says, Safari 8 in Mac OS X Yosemite is cutting off the top of every web page while in full screen. Not just a few, every single one, and it only does it in full screen. It only started after I updated to Mac OS X 10.10.1, it was fine with the original release of 10.10. Any takers?

From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then disable them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.

Retina display - blurry office for mac 2011 and web pages?

Hi everyone,
I was planning on making a trip to my uni tomorrow to make the purchase of the macbook pro 13 inch 8GB RAM and 256 GB SSD (for student discount) but while doing some final research I came across several disadvantages of the RD.
For the next 3 months, the macbook will be used for report/thesis writing which means ill be using office for mac 2011 and adobe reader heavily as well as the internet. I have read many articles saying office for mac 2011 even after applying the update is still blurry and grainy as are the majority of web pages and this has put me off buying and made me think id be better off with the non retina display model, meaning I'd save £200 too.
Can anyone offer any advice on this and confirm whether or not this is true, and whether you would recommend going ahead with the purchase? A screenshot of office for mac 2011 on a retina display would be perfect

I agree with BobTheFisterman. I have Pages 5, Pages '09 and Office for Mac 2011. I really like the Pages programs - each of the versions in their own way - but I don't like using Word on Office for Mac. It's not the same as Office 10 when used on a Windows machine. Not close at all in fact. I use it because I have it, and emailing documents between my Mac and work where we use Windows makes it easy. "Easy" is not the same as liking the software though.
The point of this, is that I would not recommend buying it. I've heard that Open Office and Libre Office are very credible alternatives, and work very much like Word on Windows. Both are free and get very good reviews. I've not used either so can't speak from personal experience, but what I would say after buying Office for Mac is that I wish I had tried the free alternatives first.
The other alternative to consider of course of Google Drive. I use that for non-confidential documents, but I wouldn't trust it for storage of any confidential work related stuff.

To Display SWF file or Flash file in Web Page Composer (WPC)

I am goning to add & display 'swf file or flash file' in Web Page Composer.
But it is not allowing me to do so.I tried by three ways
1} to upload this file directly from local machine & to add in WPC
2}By using linklist option
3}By creating KM Document iview;which contain swf file.& then adding that iview in wpc.
but at last it is not displaying though allowing to add it in WPC.

First... we are all new to WPC!
Second, no I don't think you need to create a new container. I think that you just need to add the swf type as an allowed type for the container.
So...
Figure out which container you are trying to add the flash file to (as you mentioned, A1, A2, etc).
Navigate to:
Sys Admin --> Sys Config --> Knowledge Mgt --> Content Mgt --> WPC --> Containers.
Edit the container you want to use.
There will be a box named Allowed Mime Types.
In here, select the "swf" mime type (make sure the check box is checked). Then Save.
At my company, we had the WPC ramp up from SP12, and are now on SP13.
I'm not sure what you get if the first time you had WPC is SP13, but for us I see two default A1 (and A2...B1..C4...etc) containers -- one that has "default" in the name and one that has "def" in the name. From what I see, SP13 WPC uses the one with "def" in the name, not "default". So, make sure you modify the one with "def" in the name.
After you make this change, you should see "swf" in the list inside the container when you are editing a page.

Fresh install of Firefox not displaying any fonts in the menues or web pages how do I fix this?

completely uninstalled priviouse version of Firefox and just intalled Firefox 13.0.1. it doesn't display any fonts not on web pages and not within the Firefox menu structure.

Try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

.swf displaying in preview, but not on actual web page

As above really. I don't really use Flash, but was just trying to put up a little video demo online.
Just dragged the video onto the canvas, published it as an .swf, but when I upload it all and visit the web page, the video clip / swf isn't displaying.
Its fine in the preview though.

OK - I didn't think you needed to upload the original video clip.
Anyway - I've recreated my steps.
1. Opened Flash.
2. Created a new ActionScript 3 page
3. File > Import > Video with Load external video with playback component
4. Save file
5. Publish SWF
6. Switch to DW and Insert > Media > SWF
Before switching to DW, it all looks OK in the preview.
How do I get Flash to create the HTML page? I had a quick look through the menus, but didn't see anything....

Safari 5.03 I can not get ANY web pages except APPLE to load Help please

Hello, I just downloaded thru software update Safari 5.03. I am using SL for OS on Macbook Pro.
Now literally when trying to go to ANY web page at all I get a bunch of " little squared letter A's on the entire web page.

THe only web page that works at all is Apple site where i can view an use this forum.

1. I deselected: enable plug-ins
Quit Safari- then relaunch-- DID NOT work, I still have all "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA" IN BOXES ON EVERY WEB SITE I TRY TO VISIT.
BUT AGAIN THE APPLE WEB SITE I AM ABLE TO TYPE YOU THIS MESSAGE. ONLY APPLE SITE WORKS
2. Also tried to turn off any extensions ( i did not have any but turned off-- DID NOT work
3. I did try to troubleshoot the safari plist file.
I looked at some of your prior posts and tried those plist attempts. I tried to move the com.apple.Safari.plist file from the preferences--AGAIN THIS DID NOTHING.
BUT......I tried this but not total solution. I went on my other mac--I opened Safari ( i think 4.03) but again another mac, I then went to Firefox web site and I COPY AND PASTED THE ACTUAL WEB SITE IN AND PUT IT ON A SMALL FLASH DRIVE--THEN COPY AND PASTED IT INTO THE ADDRESS WINDOW OF SAFARI 5.03, AND HIT RETURN-- IT THEN WENT TO THE FIREFOX WEBSITE AND IT VIEWED IT PROPERLY, SO I DOWNLOADED FIREFOX AND TRIED TO RUN FIREFOX.
AND LOW AND BEHOLD FIREFOX WORKS.
BUT I STILL CANT GET SAFARI TO WORK
again, i still get ON EVERY SITE USING SAFARI 5.03 " AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA" capital "A"s in little boxes on every web site. Almost like some code is not being read correctly by Safari?

Safari iOs crashes whe try to load my web page

I have already done my online shop web page (www.vistetublythe.com) and now I have a very serious problem, the web page crashes on safari for iOs devices, i dont know what happend, I can load fine the web on any computer and any browser, I can also load it well with Opera on iOs, but cant do it with Safair iOs.
Anyone can check and say me wich could be the problem?

It looks like you are using the PrestaShop e-commerce service. It is pretty indecipherable. You will probably have to ask them about the problem. Normally, I would say look at what you are doing in the body.onload(), window.load(), and $(document).ready() events, but that stuff seems out of your control. The software is trying to manipulate the DOM elements before they are fully loaded. That is probably what is causing Safari to crash. Fixing it will probably require help from PrestaShop customer support.

QuickTime plugin, displays as a large white rectangtle on web page

The problem I'm having is that when this reloads, the QuickTIme plugin suddenly expands across the whole width of the screen and appears as a large white rectangle and then appears as normal again.

I did the following and it seems to have done the trick:

qtDivObj.style.display = '';

Why does the browser view automatically zoom in to the first text box it sees on a web page?

I have an iPhone 5c w/ iOS 8. When I open a web page that has a text/chat box (form field?), the keyboard opens and the view zooms to it? It does not matter what browser I use. This did not happen with iOS 7.

It sounds like you're opening websites on browsers on your phone, and the screen keeps zooming in and bringing up the keyboard. I would start by troubleshooting the software on the device:
iOS: Force an app to close
Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
When you have done that restart the device and test the issue again:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
If it persists, I would next backup your device to iTunes with this article:
iOS: How to back up and restore your content
And restore it from your backup with this article:
Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings

Firefox doesn't display text of certain gmail messages seen correctly by IE

One email correspondent sends me messages which only occasionally fail to display on my gmail account browsed using current Firefox version. Same messages display fine in IE (how humiliating!). He has no idea what he's doing differently from one message to the next. I suspect it might be something about "pasted" in content. The header looks fine - just the body comes up blank. Forwarding to myself doesn't help. I've seen this about 6 times in 6 months - all from same sender - most of whose email comes thru fine. I'd suspect something else except for disturbing fact that IE reads these messages without any problem.

I think it depends on how it got there. If it was dropped by Safari for Windows, which is no longer a product that Apple supports, I think it's safe to remove. If it belongs to some other software, then that software might object to losing the font. I'm not sure of the best way to determine that. I suppose you could hedge your bets by dragging it into a different folder so Windows just doesn't see it.
