Do you mean that you did a soft-reset ?
Try clearing Safari's cache : Settings > Safari > Clear Cookies And Data and also Clear History
If that doesn't fix it then try closing Safari via the iPad's multitaskingbar and see if it works when you re-open it :double-click the home button to open the taskbar and then swipe or drag the Safari app's 'screen' up and off the top of the screen to close it, and click the home button to close the taskbar.
After trying the above you could also do a soft-reset (even if this is what you've already done it might be worth trying after clearing Safari's cache and closing the app via the taskbar) : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • Safari will not open on my iPad Air...."Safari cannot open the page because it could not connect to the server." There were recent updates on my iPad Air. How can I fix this problem?

How can I correct the issue of Safari not connecting on my iPad Air? It was working great 2 days ago.....now on September 20 it is not working! I have an internet connection but Safari will not open. "Safari cannot open the page because it could not connect to the server."

    Hello Beckieor,
After reviewing your post, I have located an article that can help in this situation. It contains a number of troubleshooting steps and helpful advice concerning network issues:
iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
Follow these steps to troubleshoot the above issues:
Be sure you're in range of your Wi-Fi router (access point).
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi off and on. If your Wi-Fi setting is dimmed, follow these steps.
Confirm that your Wi-Fi router and cable or DSL modem are connected to power, turned on, and connected to the Internet. If not, refer to your network administrator or Internet service provider (ISP) for assistance.
    Restart your iOS device.
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and locate the Wi-Fi network to which you're connected.
    Tap and Forget this Network.
Try to connect to your desired Wi-Fi network.
Note: You may need to enter your Wi-Fi password again if your network requires one.
Turn your Wi-Fi router off and on2. If your ISP also provides cable or phone service, check with them before attempting this step to avoid interruption of service.
Update your device to the latest version of software.
Update your Wi-Fi router to the latest firmware2. For AirPort Base Stations, install updates using the AirPort Utility.
Thank you for contributing to Apple Support Communities.

  • Safari will not open....message "unexpectedly quit"

Safari will not open, a message appears saying it unexpectedly quit....it never actually opens.  One of my kids downloaded gophoto.it.  I thought i had uninstalled it but it still appears when i restart.  Any suggestions on how to set safari back?  I can't get onto the internet at all.

If you're sure you've installed the latest version of Flash, take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. After each step, relaunch Safari and test. For a "missing plug-in" error, start with Step 5.
    1. If you're only having trouble with YouTube videos, sign in to your YouTube account and load this page. You may see a link with the text "Leave the HTML5 Trial." If so, click that link.
    2. If you're getting a "blocked plug-in" error, then from the menu bar select
     ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Check Now. Quit and relaunch your browser.
    3. Triple-click the line below to select it:
    /Library/Internet Plug-Ins
Right-click or control-click the highlighted text and select
    Services ▹ Open
from the contextual menu. A folder should open. Delete the following item, or anything with a similar name, if present:
    Flash Player (failing).plugin
You may be prompted for your login password.
    4. Re-download and reinstall Flash. Download it from this page:
Adobe - Install Adobe Flash Player
Never download a Flash update from anywhere else.
    5. If you get a "missing plug-in" error, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
from the Safari menu bar and check the box marked Enable plug-ins.
    6. Select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
from the Safari menu bar. If any extensions are installed, disable them.
    7. In the Safari preference window, select
Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
    Close the window. Then select
     ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Delete All. Close the preference pane.

  • TS3408 Safari on my new iPad mini isn't working - says server stopped responding but no problem accessing the web with my old iPod touch. What's going on?

Safari isn't working on my iPad mini - "server stopped responding" but I can access the web on my old ipodtouch. What's up??

  • My safari won't connect to the Internet as it says server stopped responding

Hi, everytime I try to go on Internet through safari, it won't open the page, the error message is, safari cannot connect as server stopped responding. My ipad has been updated from io6 to io6.1. Internet connects fine through google chrome app.

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • My ipad is locked up and will not even turn off.  Message says, "This Ipad hasn't been backed up in two weeks.  Backups happen with this Ipad is plugged in, locked, and connected to Wi-Fi.  Ipad is charged and on WiFi and is totally locked up

My Ipad is totally locked up and will not turn off.  What is the problemo?

Have you tried resetting your iPad?

  • HT3728 Express will not take software upgrade.  Message says to install 5.6 and when I do it will not show, says not compatible with this version of Mac. 10.8 OS-X, why not?

Unable to update airport express.  When connecting msg says to install 5.6, download and will not take install says it is not compatible.

This is a dilemma. Older Express models require AirPort Utility 5.6.1 or a similar, older version of AU. Mountain Lion will refuse to install it. What to do?
As it turns out AirPort Utility 5.6.1 runs perfectly fine on Mountain Lion. If you had the foresight to have archived it somewhere (such as with Time Machine or equivalent) you can simply copy the app to your computer and use it. The problem is that the installer package will refuse to work on a Mountain Lion system.
If you don't have an already-extracted version of AU 5.6.1 there is a solution: you simply need Pacifist to extract the app from the installer package. I also found another technique described on this page:
    http://frank.is/mountain-lion-and-the-old-airport-utility/
    Good luck!

  • I have recently encountered a problem when trying to access 3G network from IPAD2.  Wireless access working fine.  When going on safari it attempts to access page and then comes up with message that 'server stopped responding'.  I have tried resetting.

I am unable to access 3G network, although wireless access is working fine.  When opening a page in safari it churns for a while and then says that server has stopped responding.  I noticed on one forum that it said something about changing brightness settings causing a conflict - coincidentally this first started happening after I had tweaked brightness.  I have tried resets etc, but still no joy.  Any ideas?

  • Nano will not operate like the users guide says

I bought a new Nano for my wife and so far I cannot get it to work properly. I've been going by the users guide and nothing works like it say it should. Guide says to swipe right to go back to home screen, cursor goes up. Guide says to hold on touch pad and will go back to home screen, nothing happens. Guide says to swipe left to go back one page, cursor goes down. If you try to rotate the screen then it will take you back a page, somtimes, usually this takes at least 5 tries. There is nothing simple about this new Nano. There is even a voice that comes on and talks whenever the ipod does anything. And I can't find anywhere to turn it off. Any help will be appreciated.

Is this the manual you are referring to?
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/enUS/iPod_nano_6thgen_UserGuide.pdf
I think you have somehow turned on the VoiceOver functionality, which is a feature to help disabled people operate the Nano. If this is the case, the normal gestures won't work like you think they should.
If your iPod is unresponsive and you see a box around the screen, VoiceOver may be turned on and you must use VoiceOver gestures to turn it off. You can turn off the VoiceOver feature by following the instructions to turn off VoiceOver gestures on page 63 of the manual. You will need to use two fingers to turn off VoiceOver manually. Be sure to follow the instructions exactly.
