My songs seemed to only half download.

Hi, so last night I bought a song on my iPhone 4S and when I went to play it it wouldn't play for a long time but then after a few minutes it did. I then thought that everything was fine and put it in a playlist, when I went to play the playlist all the songs were playing fine until the song that was right before the son I had just bought. The song before it would not play, it would not play, and as I continued to skip around the ones after would not play. I tried to delete it by swiping the song but the red delete button did not show up when on all my others had the delete button just fine. I am away from my computer where my phone is synced for a while is there anything I can do to fix this issue?

Hello Mara177
If you were in the playlist and trying to delete a song, you would actually have to hit the edit button. If you go to the songs tab and find the songs you should be able to delete it by swiping. Then try and download the songs again from the previous purchase section in the iTunes app.

  • How do I re-download songs that were only half downloaded when the internet signal went down

How do I redownload music after the signal was lost during the download

About a minute and a half into some tracks it skips to the next. Not on all the tracks but on most of them.
Try again, just redownloading the tracks which are skipping. (The servers for the Store seem to have been a bit extra-cranky with this over the past day or so in particular ... some folks have had to try redownloading again a couple of times.)

  • Some of my songs from I tunes are only half downloaded

some of my songs from I tunes are only half downloaded how can I fix this?

    Hello there, Dinadi67.
It certainly is disconcerting to not have the ability to play the songs you want from your library. The situation your describing is usually when iTunes is not able to find the file for the grayed out song.  I recommend reviewing the following Knowledge Base articles to locate your music files on your computer:

  • TS1424 i buy songs and its only half of the complete song?

i buy songs and its only half of the complete song were downloaded?

Other people have been having similar problems with songs over the last few days, I assume that there has been a problem with Apple's servers.
Depending upon what country that you are in (music can't be re-downloaded in all countries) then try deleting them from your iTunes library and redownload them via the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes : re-downloading.
If you aren't in a country where you can re-download music or if they re-download in the same state then try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via Store > View My Account and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find those songs and use the 'Report a Problem' link.

  • TS1424 Purchased song was only half downloaded how do I re-download them?

Bought songs, three of them are only half of the song, even though iTunes is saying it was a successful download. How can I re-download them?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Try deleting the problematic tune (electing to remove original file if/when prompted) and then re-downloading the file from the iTunes store.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option from the Quick Links section in the top right corner of the iTunes homepage in your iTunes application on your computer.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option at the bottom of the screen of the iTunes app on your iOS device.
If the problem re-occurs, select the content which is causing a problem and use the 'Report a problem' button in Your Purchase History using your computer.

  • Purchased songs seem to only stay on for a few days, then I have to re-sync

Songs that I've imported from CD stay permanent on the IPOD. But songs that I've purchased through iTunes seem to only stay on a few days then only the titles/playlists are there for them. It won't play them, but instead will just advance through the playlist.
A possible related symptom, before this happens, when I turn on the iPod, it gets the apple symbol which I assume means it is booting up as opposed to just waking up.
Is it normal for purchased songs to have a "shelf life" then they expire? I would assume they are saved to the hard disk like any other songs.
Has anyone encountered this or do you know a rememdy for my problem?

    Any ideas from anyone?

    Hello dhillapple,
I think I would start here with this article named Troubleshooting iTunes for Windows Vista or Windows 7 video playback performance issues found http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1718.
If that troubleshooting doesn't resolve the issue, then I would suggest creating a new iTunes library with this iTunes: How to open an alternate iTunes Library file or create a new one http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1589 and then downloading a few of the videos with this Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519 to it to see if the issue persists.
If the issue does not persists in the new library then I recommend recreating your iTunes library.

If the issue does persist in the new library then I would use this article to help isolate whether or not it is system wide or user specific.

  • HT1725 I downloaded an album and one of the songs on it only partially downloaded. Why?

I have already tried checking to see if downloads remained but their weren't any

If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copy of the track and try redownloading a fresh one. See the following document for instructions:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the item that is not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the item, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" link next to the item.

  • HT1725 I downloaded an album from itunes and only half of the songs have downloaded. The rest of the songs keep trying to download and then come up with an error saying they cannot download at this time. I'm not sure what the issue is.

I downloaded an album from itunes and only half of the songs have downloaded. The rest keep trying to download, but I keep getting a message that says, "Song cannot be downloaded at this time. Do you want to retry or be done." Each time I retry, the same thing happens. They will not download. I have restarted my phone and the same problem remains.

Other people have been having similar problems with songs over a number of days.

  • HT1725 I purchased an album and it downloaded. However, one song on the album has only half the song. I've tried to "download" the "available downloads", but the darn itunes states that it's already been downloaded. How do I get the rest of the song?

I purchased Alanis Morisette new album. All the songs have downloaded, or so it said. While listening to the album, only half of "celebrity" downloaded. I've checked the "available downloads" section and it says that all have been downloaded.
How do I get the rest of the song to download? I've read the support page about wifi issues, blah blah blah. Not the issue.
    Thanks for any help.

Assuming you are in a region where you are allowed to redownload your past purchases, delete the broken files from your iTunes library, go to the iTunes Store home page, click the Purchased link from the Quick Links section in the right-hand column, then select Music and Not on this computer. You should find download links for your tracks there.
If you don't see them straight away it may help to close and restart iTunes.
While downloading select Downloads in the left-hand column and make sure Allow Simultaneous Downloads is unticked.
If the problem persists, or that facility is not yet available in your region, contact the iTunes Store support staff through the report a problem links in your account history, or via Contact Support.

  • HT201272 When I download a previously purchased song to my iMac only half of the song plays

Any idea why only half of every song plays when I download a previously purchased album or song to my iMac?

Does the track play correctly in Quicktime Player?  If it does then it is an iTunes issue.  If it doesn't then it is possible the file was not completely downloaded, or is corrupt.

  • HT1725 itunes says the song is downloaded but, only half of it is there. How do i get the whole song?

I just tried to download a song I purchased and only half the song is there. when I go back to the itunes store it says the dowload is complete.

Assuming you are in a region where you are allowed to redownload your past music purchases, delete the broken tracks from your iTunes library, close and then reopen iTunes, go to the iTunes Store home page, click the Purchased link from the Quick Links section in the right-hand column, then select Music and Not on this computer. You should find download links for your tracks there.
