My volume button to lower the volume on my iphone 4 is not working. I got a new phone case and I think it jammed my volume button. How do I fix this? The button to raise the volume is working.

You may also want to reset your network settings:
Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Note: this will delete any network related settings (saved Wi-Fi passwords, etc), it will not erase any content from your device.

For Find My Phone to work, you must first turn it on in Settings > iCloud before the iPhone is stolen, and the iPhone MUST be turned on and connected with the Internet. If not, it is not possible to locate it. Report the theft to the police, change all passwords associated with accounts on the iPhone, contact your carrier in case the can blacklist it.

My iphone touchscreen stopped working around two days ago, so I cannot input my passcode. I am trying to backup my most recent photos as I have been on a trip abroad to phuket the past week, and got back home but did not have time to move my photos from that trip onto my mac before the touchscreen stopped working. I have a problem because I backed up my iphone last around a month ago, but have changed my passcode since so my iphone is not allowing me to back up onto my mac through itunes. I wish I at least hadn't changed the passcode, or had my photos on icloud, but I have so many photos that the icloud storage would cost so much for me to keep them updated.. I am so frustrated right now as it's not that I have forgot my passcode, or that I don't know it at all, but I know it. I wish there was a software that I could use on my mac to enter the passcode or something. Is there a way I could do something about it?!

So you are not using Photo Stream? If you are, then you can turn on Photo Stream on iCloud on your Mac, and then go to iPhoto or Aperture and the Photo Stream will show under "Web" in the sidebar.
You can also set up your iPhoto or Aperture preferences to automatically import your Photo Stream, so any photos you take with your iPhone camera will upload and import automatically and will show under events, broken into monthly groupings.
Photo Stream does not use any of your iCloud storage.

One other thing concerning your Touch Screen. Have you tried resetting your device (nothing will be lost) to see if that will get your Touch Screen working again: Hold down the Home and Power buttons at the same time and continue to hold them down until the Apple appears (up to 30 seconds). Once the Home screen redisplays see if your Touch Screen is working.

External volume buttons stopped changing the volume

I've been using my iPhone 3G without incident since the summer, but all of a sudden in the last couple of days (I guess since the most recent firmware update), the side volume buttons have stopped changing the volume - ringer, speaker, anything. If I push the up or down volume control, the volume indicator window flashes up as normal, it shows my current volume level, then it raises the volume level (both the displayed level and the actual sound coming out of the phone) for about a tenth of a second, then it goes back to the previous level. I can change the volume using any of the normal touchpad controls, only the side buttons don't work.
Is this simply a setting that I switched on by accident - a volume lock that I don't know about? I can't seem to find anything in my settings, but would really appreciate any insight into what's going on.

Welcome to the Discussions Boards.
Since you can see the volume changing when you use the volume button, it is relatively unlikely that it is a hardware issue. If it was a physical switch failure, the window wouldn't appear and show the change even briefly. It is more likely a software-based issue, such as a data file or preference file on the iPhone that is not updating properly.
If you're using a case on the iPhone, remove the case and test.
Try resetting the iPhone by holding down both the sleep/power button and the home button together until you see the Apple logo (ignore the "Slide to Power Off" prompt). Test.
If the reset does not resolve, you may need to backup and restore the iPhone:

Before connecting the iPhone, launch iTunes.
From the Edit Menu (Windows) or the iTunes Menu (Mac) select Preferences
Select the Devices tab or icon.
Put a check mark in the "Disable Automatic Syncing for iPods and iPhones" box.
OK the Preferences window.
Connect the iPhone.
If you have music or APPs that you have not synced to iTunes, choose "Transfer Purchases from xxxxxiPhone" from the File Menu to backup purchased content to iTunes.
Right-click (or control-click) the iPhone under Devices in the left column of iTunes and choose "Backup" to create a fresh backup of the iPhone.
After the backup is complete, in the Summary tab of the iPhone, click on the Restore button.
At the end of the restore process, choose to setup as a new phone.
For testing, do not sync any Applications to the iPhone (you can sync them back later).
Test.
If the issue is resolved, you can sync your data back to the iPhone.
You can also right-click the iPhone and choose "Restore from backup," but if the issue was caused by some data on the iPhone that was backed up, the issue may return when you sync you backup data to the iPhone.
If you normally sync your iPhone automatically, you can uncheck the box that disables automatic syncing mentioned above.

It sons silly but check the little button above the volume buttons on the side and make sure you can't see orange... If you can, flip it.... And the sound will work. Took me hours to figure that one out....

Hi here's what happend, after a download of the new iphone software the microphone on my iphone stopped working, i restarted it, restored it, and everything else and still doesn't work, how can i get it to work again?? nothing in your forums or support tells me what to do about this issue, so the problem is that i receive a call and i can hear the caller fine but thay can't hear a word i say, not even the voice note app that comes with the update works!! what can i do?

at last, someone with exactly the same issue. I loaded the software & now I am dropping out during a call for example, I can hear the caller but unless I press the loud speaker I cannot get them to hear me. I have restored, deleted, fiddled.....no go. Even replaced the sim card. May get 2-3 calls in before it gives up. Unless I "reset" the phone I can't get it back to normal, then only for a few calls. Have turned off the bluetooth in case this was somehow interfering.....don't bother as that does no good. Can you tell me if you press the loudspeaker option on the screen when your fails that this allows you comm's ok?

HT1414 iphone 4S problem. When the phone finally comes on the apple logo shows, then a cable has a pointed arrow to the words iTunes under a blue circle with a music note symbol. I tried holding the on button & search at the same time. It did not work,

How is a 4S iphone reset when it is stuck on a picture of a blue music circle, the word iTunes under it, and a cable pointing to the circle.

It's trying to tell you to plug it into your computer running iTunes. It's in recovery mode and needs to be restored.

Is there a way I can find out when my last icloud back up was using the computer? The screen on my iphone is not working so I need an alternative way. Thanks

Connect it to your computer, open iTunes, the last backup time will be displayed on the iPhone Summary tab in iTunes

I've been experiencing this problem since a few months now.. The microphone of my phone works fine for a few seconds at times and then goes off again.. This happens even if I've put on earphones. Help please

How exactly are you not getting any support... what have you done or attempted that you did not get support with?
Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.
If none of the above resolves the issue, take the device to Apple for evaluation and possible replacement.

The 3G on my iPhone is not working, the only way the internet works is when its connected through wifi. What do I do?

I've tried turning my Phone on and off but the 3G still doesn't work.

The last two steps of user troubleshooting are restore from a backup and restore as new. If after a restore as new the device still is not operating correctly, then the next thing would be an appointment with the Genius Bar at Apple.
However, if it was me, before I tried all of this, I would contact my carrier, have them check my account and if necessary, replace the SIM card before I went to Apple. They supply the connection and the data.
