My wife has an ipad. How do I upgrade it to IOS6?

My wife is struggling to use icloud. It would seem that she needs to upgrade to ios6, but I can't figure out how to do that. Can this ipad be upgraded?
Thanks,
Bryan

You can update the original iPad to iOS 5.1.1 and iCloud is available in iOS 5. As suggested above, you do need to update via iTunes on your computer. Connect the iPad to the computer, launch iTunes and sync and backup the iPad. Then click on the summary tab on the right side of the iTunes window and click on Check for Update.
If iTunes notifies you  that there is an update available for the iPad, refuse it until you sync and backup first. After that, you can click on the summary tab and check for the update.

I have an Ipad 2. My wife has an Ipad mini. When we plug in to Itunes (at different times) it synchs the apps from one Ipad on to the other. We don't want this. I have uncheked the box for Automatically synch apps, but it still does this.
How do I get Itues to see each Ipad as a separate item, and not try to keep them "equal" as far as apps installed?

Remove the apps from iTunes with your device connected. You can basically deselect the apps that you don't want on each device. We have three IOS devices on one AppleID and they don't all have the same apps.

I would backup both iPads to either your computer (faster) or to iCloud (slower.) Then I would go to Settings/General/Reset and Erase all Content & Settings on each iPad. They will both restart as brand new iPads, ready for setup. Then I would restore each iPad to the correct backup; your stuff on the iPad 2 and her stuff on the new iPad.

  • HT204266 App store won't accept my password. My wife has an iPad also and it keeps bringing up her email address. How can I cure this?

How can I remove my wife's email address and password from my app store account? I am trying to update apps and it won't let me use my info. My wife has an iPad and an account, some way the info got on mymipad.

You can log out out of the currently logged in account on the iPad by tapping on the id in Settings > Store and you can then log in with your account - but if any of your wife's apps are on your iPad then only her account will be able to download updates to those apps as they will be tied to her account.

  • I have a Macbook Pro and iPhone 4S My wife has a iPad and iPhone 4S  How do I sync her devices and mine to mine and never the twain shall meet?

    Please can any one advise?
    I have a Macbook Pro 15" mid 2012, I also have a iPhone 4S which I sync with iTunes.
Now, my wife has a iPad and a iPhone 4S.
I would like to sync her iPad and iPhone together (Contacts, Calenders etc)
and I sync my Macbook with my iPhone 4S together
But never the twin shall meet. I do not want her contacts and calender on my devices and she does not want my contacts and dates on her devices.
We both have seperate apple id's
All I can think of is set up a guest account for her, install iTunes on that account and put her on that. However it no longer os a guest account but hers.
Thank you for reading this, all advice gratefully received

go to itunes preferences, store, uncheck automatic downloads. also when your phone is connected you can click  on apps and only check the ones you want on your phone, go down to the bottom right and click apply.

I have a problem, my wife has an ipad with photos , emails etc etc, she has recently got herself a new iPad Air, has now been using that for two or more months, more photos (new) more emails and other stuff. What she wants to do is get all she wants from ipad 1 to new ipad without finishing up with 2 of everything which happen on previous occasion. I realise that she needs to tidy up ipad 1 first and get rid of thousands of emails etc. I need help.
    Thanks kiwihdrider

Hi yes that works well when the new ipad hasn't been used. Trouble new one has been used for two months or more, has lots photos email etc etc. I am worried that these will go. When we did iPhone thru same process finished up with two of most things pics and emails. The emails alone were over 2 thousand and wife reluctant to delete them all. I would and just sort pics. Any other ideas

  • I have an iPhone in my name and my wife has an iPad in her name. We have just ordered an iMac and wondered which account we should use to get the best out of all the devices

I have an iPhone in my name and my wife has an iPad in her name. We have just ordered an iMac and wondered which account we should use to get the best out of all the devices? Can we use both accounts in iCloud?

Yes you can.  However, it is better to use one person's account most of the time for purchases in the Mac App Store and iTunes since you can share purchases, such as songs, among various devices using the SAME account.  You Cannot share purchases among different accounts, though.   So make one of your accounts the main "purchasing" account so you can share purchases.
    Hope this helps

  • Hi, I forgot the password of wifi in my ipad, how can I restore it? thanks ana

Hi, I forgot the passoword of wifi in my ipad, how can I restore it ? thanks Ana Laura

Your wireless network password is stored in your router. It is not intended to be easily recovered, only reset and subsequently reconfigured by whomever set up your router.
If you have a Mac that you usually use on that network, it is stored in the Mac's Keychain. I can show you how to retrieve it, using that Mac.

  • Ipad2 with wifi but no 3G how would I upgrade to 3G

Is it possible to upgrade my iPad to iPad 3G .?

A lot depends on how much you intend to use it when away from home. Would you be in the vicinity of Wifi hotspots?
The 3G model costs £100 more (an extra 25% of the cheapest model) PLUS whatever your data plan is.
If you are not regularly in the vicinity of hotspots, and not likely to be a heavy user, the cheaper option is to purchase a Mifi (yes, Mifi) device from a network such as 3. It is the size of a small mobile phone and connects wirelessly to your iPad. The device AND a 12gb download over 12 months costs very little more than the extra price for the 3G model. Other plans are also available with the 3 network. Google the words '3 Mifi'.
