My windows 7 computer thinks my iPhone is a digital camera.

My windows 7 computer recognises my iphone as a digital camera so we cant sync an iphone 4 to my computer and we cant set up an iphone 5 through itunes.
Please help.

An iOS device with one or more pictures in the camera roll appears as a camera to Windows Explorer. You can copy and paste the files to a new location, then return to the device to delete the originals once they have been safely copied from it. Don't connect more than one device at the same time. If iTunes still cannot detect the device try restarting both the device and the computer and check the cable works with another device (though I guess you've already done that).

  • How to sync Outlook 2010 calendar (on my local windows 7 computer) with my iPhone 5c without  iCloud?

How to sync Outlook 2010 calendar (on my local windows 7 64 bit computer) with my iPhone 5c without  iCloud?

You would sync Outlook via iTunes on the computer. Connect the iPhone to the computer, make sure you have the latest version of iTunes running, select the iPhone in iTunes and it will display the Summary page. Select the Info tab, and there you would select what you want to sync calendar and contacts to. Make sure since this is the first time you have done a sync that whichever of the devices is new to the sync process has at least one unique contact/calendar event to get iTunes to prompt you for a merge or replacement. You can see this support document for help in setting up initial syncing. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1296

  • My computer think my iphone is a camera - seemingly unsolvable

Just can't seem to get to the bottom of this one.
Every time I dock our iPhone, my PC running XP recognizes it at a camera and asks what software that it should use. I have troubleshot the problem with http://docs .info.apple.com/artical.html?artnum=302538, but even with all start ups (but qtask and iTunesHelper) disabled and all services (but Apple Mobile Device Support and the hidden Microsoft services) disable, I still get the same odd behavior.
With no other options offered, what can I do (short of just throwing my iPhone through the window)?

If you really don't want your XP computer to see your phone as a camera, try this:
    1) Connect your iPhone and dismiss any "Camera" boxes that pop up.
    2) Double-click "My Computer".
    3) Right-click the "Apple iPhone" device and select "Properties"
    4) Click the "Events" tab.
    5) Select the "Camera connected" event in the drop-down list.
    6) Click the "Take no action" button.
    7) Click "OK"
That should prevent the pop-up box from showing when you connect the iPhone, but should not interfere with the connection to iTunes.
    8) Save these notes so you can reverse this action in the future if you change your mind.

  • Computer Thinks My iPod Touch is a Camera

I know there are lots of topics on this, but I can't find a solution! I recently recieved a new Laptop (Dell Inspiron running Windows Vista 32-bit.) When it came to plugging my 16gb 2nd gen iPod Touch in for the 1st time, I went into My Computer to transfer my music over, but my iPod was being displayed as a digital still camera. It is appearing in iTunes with all my music on it, but the problem seems to be with the computer. I have tried updating the device driver, as suggested in the following thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1141495&tstart=0
but it just says the correct drivers are installed. I've tried uninstalling the drivers and then reconnecting my iPod, but the computer just installs the same driver again. Last time I checked, my iPod was working with my desktop computer (that also has all my music on it) that is running windows xp. I have the latest version of iTunes installed and software 2.2 on my iPod (2.2.1 update almost killed it!) Any help would be grately appreciated! Thanks x

do you have 'Saved Photos' on your iPod? i.e. ones which you have obtained on the touch by email/safari/screenshots?
this is what usually makes the computer think it is a camera. when you do have 'Saved Photos' you can remove them either by deleting on the ipod (select photo, hit the bin icon) OR (on a PC) navigate to My Computer, it should come up in there like other external drives/disks do.
you CAN'T however move your music from your iPod to your computer. because (apart from with photos) it does not have a disk mode. you will need to move your music from your old computer to your new one as you presumably have with your other files.

  • HT201302 My PC (windows xp) does not recognize the iPhone as a digital camera. What do I do?

The iPhone 3G does not show up in My Computer, but syncs OK with iTunes, no problem.  I need to back up my photos on the iPhone!! Any help appreciated.  Thanks!

When I connect my iPhone to a PC running Windows XP just to charge it, the scanner and camera wizard launches automatically prompting me what to do about importing the photos in the Camera Roll. I don't recall having to add my iPhone as a camera first. The scanner and camera wizard detected my iPhone as a camera automatically which it should do without having to do anything extra first - as long as there are photos in the Camera Roll.

  • Iphone shows as Digital Camera on XP Pro. Problem?

I'm on my second 3G S because of problems syncing (disk cannot be found, read from, written to messages). I just noticed under My Computer that it is listed as a Digital Camera, not as a hard drive or as removable media.
Anyone think this could be the cause of my syncing problems?
Anyone know how to change this?

yes... iphones don't have the nice portable hard drive feature only ipods.

  • IPhone in, Canon digital camera out

After having installed the iPhone to my G5, I now cannot get ANYTHING to recognize my Canon PowerShot Pro1 camera. It used to download into iPhoto just fine, but now all iPhoto sees is the iPhone and nothing else.
Even the Canon utilities don't see the camera either (although I never used them anyway, so I can't say they ever did see it for certain.)
    Any thoughts?
    Phil
    G5 2.7G Dual   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Tried it, didn't work.
iPhoto still doesn't see the camera. Interestingly enough, System Profiler DOES see it, so I think the iPhone is overriding the OS. I can use a different computer to download the pics from the camera, but not everyone will have that luxury.
    Thanks for effort.

  • IPhone connect to Digital camera or Eye-fi

Hi. Can I connect the iPhone to digital camera? If it is not possible, can I connect an eye-fi card to the phone? Thanks

I do not know of a way that iPhone and digital cameras can be connected (directly) at this time. However, Eye-fi has an application for the iPhone that will take iPhone photos and upload them over the internet to your computer. It works very well.
Eye-fi transfers photos wirelessly from the camera/SD card to your wireless router, then over the internet to an Eye-fi server and then down to you computer. This process works well, too.
Eye-fi comes with a USB adapter so that you can take the card out of your camera and "import" the photos to your computer
Eye-fi will transfer photos to iPhoto but you must select this feature thru your Eye-fi "account".
I wish Eye-fi connected directly to my computer over my local wifi network, but I could not determine how to do this.

  • IPhone showing as digital camera?

I have an iPhone 3GS upgraded with the iOS4 and I plugged it in to sync with iTunes this morning. This worked fine but the iPhone icon didn't appear in My Computer. After searching the internet I uninstalled the iPhone driver and reinstalled and this fixed the problem temporarily.
I unplugged and put it in again and the same thing happened (no icon) so I repeated uninstalling the driver and now the iPhone is installed as a digital camera. It's not even recognised by iTunes. I tried uninstalling everything (the driver, iTunes) and reinstalling and it just shows as a digital camera. How do I fix this?

^ I'm not really sure if that was the problem but I did manage to fix it.
There isn't a lot of information on the internet about this issue.. none that I have found anyway so for anyone that is having the same problem, just ininstall everything with "Apple Inc" in your program files, restart and then reinstall iTunes, plug in the phone and it should work.

  • ITunes and Computer think my iPhone 3G is a new/different phone

I Connected my iPhone to my computer to Sync it today and it went straight to the iTunes store and then showed a message saying "Congratulations you have actiavted your phone" or something similar. Now my iPhone which used ot have a personalised name now shows as "iPhone" i iTunes and it apears some of mysetting have been lost but not any application data.
Since my last sync with my computer (1 day ago) there have been no changes at all to my pc, no Anti Virus updates, no windows updates or any software/hardware changes at all. I haven't even connected a new USB device.
To resolve this and get it back to it's orginal state I tried:
Rebooting PC and iPhone, which had no impact.
Restoring from a backup, however there is only a backup available from the date/time when I connected the phone and found this problem. I went into the backups folder and verified I have 4,000 files from as far back as a year ago but none of them appear.
I am concerned that I have lost media and aps that were purchased on the phone and that itune will think they are associated to another computer. Additionally I want to understand what could have gone wrong.
If anyone can assist that would be fantastic.

    I'm losing my mind: the phone is a 4S, not a 3!

  • How do i transfer music from my windows 7 computer to my iphone 4s when it says the device has timed out?

when i connect my iphone 4s to my windows 7 pc, it says the device has timed out so cannot connect. what do i do? i need to transfer music from my pc to my phone but it wont connect. please help, thank you!

Temporarily disable any security software on the computer, then attempt to sync content to the device.
If that resolves the problem, contact whomever supports the security software (not Apple) and inquire how to prevent their software from intereferring with iTunes.

  • How do I transfer my email contacts from my Windows 7 computer to my iphone 6?

    no details

The first step is to export your TB contacts to a vCard file. Install the [https://freeshell.de//~kaosmos/morecols-en.html MoreFunctionsForAddressBook] add-on ([http://chrisramsden.vfast.co.uk/3_How_to_install_Add-ons_in_Thunderbird.html how to install]), then in Address Book, select an address book, Tools/MoreFunctionsForAddressBook/Actions for addressbooks/Export as vcf (for Ipod). Next, email the vCard file as an attachment to your account, open the attachment on the iPhone and follow the prompts to add the contacts to the phone.

Other methods given on that site use iTunes or iCloud.

It is the newest type of iTunes and my phone is 4s.

You can only really sync with one iTunes library/computer. See:
