MySAP PLM

In all the presentations that are present in service.sap.com related to mySAP PLM it talks about Quality Management using mySAP PLM, Life cycle data management and life cycle process management. Under Life cycle data management we have Document management system, change management system, variant configuration etc. I am a certified PP consultant. As per my knowledge the above mentioned components under Life-cycle data management already exist in SAP R/3 Logistics. Also Quality Management exists in SAP R/3. I would like to understand how mySAP PLM DMS system or mySAP Quality management differ from SAP R/3 DMS and SAP R/3 Quality Management.
Also there is a mention of engineering work bench and IPPE (Integrated product and process engineering) under Life-Cycle data management. As I mentioned earlier EWB and IPPE are very much part of R/3 Logistics. Now I would like to understand if these components of SAP R/3 come under the purview of mySAP PLM even though they exist under R/3 or there are differences.I would also like to understand the components that exist in mySAP PLM apart from cFolders & cProjects.

Hi,
You are quite right about the fact that almost all PLM components already existed in SAP R/3.
When SAP divided its solution in different blocks (SCM, CRM, SRM and PLM), some of these blocks included other software than SAP R/3 (APO, CRM...), and MySAP PLM is the only one based mainly on SAP R/3.
I see it as a functionnal presentation of existing components.
Now when I give the PLM100 training, I explain that the material, document, BOM... are part of the PLM funcionnalities, but technically parts of SAP R/3.
now : what is in PLM and not in R/3? as you said, mainly cProject, cFolder. EH&S used to be in PLM only, as well as the CAD interface.
Hope it helps
Regards

    for clarification:
The AutoCAD-SAP Integration is a SAP product, developed by CIDEON Software together with SAP.
So it is an SAP pricelist product, it has to be purchased from SAP. Consulting services are typically done by CIDEON.

  • MySAP PLM + java 7 rev67 + OSX 10.9.5 : problem upload/Download

    Hello,
I'm user from MySAP PLM on Safari or Firefox on Mac with OS 10.9.5 (Mavericks). Last Java version.
I have to upload/download files but the window to choose direction doesn't appears.
When I click on upload or download button, the window opens. But after, when I click on the button "Select files" nothing appears (see file attached).
My first question is : is it possible to upload/download somethings from a Mac ? (from a PC, it works).
Second : if yes, what settings should I set up ?
    Thank you for your help.

This discussion thread belongs to the Product Lifecycle Management (SAP PLM) space. Generically speaking Safari support is somewhat restricted. In order to analyze the situation any further, please share the version of your SAP system, especially SAP_BASIS including the SP level.

  • MySAP PLM DMS

I would like to understand how to configure Web DMS. Do we need to download any software like we do for Easy DMS? Basically I would like to understand how to access the doucments created in R/3 using Web DMS.
    thanks

WebDocuments is a BSP application provided by SAP from 4.7 onwards.  To configure WebDocuments, go to SPRO
    Cross-Application Components -> Document Management -> Set Up WebDocuments(BSP)
Here you make additional settings for the document types that you want to access through WebDocuments.
    The BSP application is 'CVAW_ENTIRE'.

  • PLM installation

Hi, I am new to PLM and was asked today to spec out what it would take to install a PLM instance. I have spent a bunch of time in OSS looking for the components and am not finding much outside of the PLM/PPM component. From what I can tell, this is a component of ECC but I am not sure if it is an addon component or part of the base install.
Can anyone give me a highlevel oveview of what is involved in the PLM landscape since it is not clearly called out by SAP?
    thanks
    Rich

    Hi ,
    1. The installation of mySAP PLM like as mySAP ERP.
    2. After installation done, just you will have to some Add-Ons and some componets, whcih are available in http://service.sao.com/downloads.
    3. First you will have to discuus with client, what they want and also get the confirmation and install it.

  • MySAP Skills

Sorry folks. This is an offbeat question. Appreciate if you could still spare a few moments to answer it. The phrase "mySAP" is normally prefixed to SAP Business suite components like PLM, CRM, SCM, SRM and ERP. What does one make out when someone says that he/she possess skills on mySAP MM, mySAP QM or mySAP SD. What comes to my mind, is that someone who has worked on MM in an mySAP ERP environment would claim to have skills on mySAP MM & so on. Does any one know what else could be an explanation for a mySAP MM skill, for example. Thanks in advance.

    Dear
You r right partially, earlier the modules are SAP QM, PP, SD etc. So earlier people don't use mySAP PP etc. But now the SAP has modified its course content and is awarding the courses under mySAP PLM, mySAP SCM, mySAP APO etc. Hence now people can use mySAP for the respective modules
I hope this may answer your querry

  • Interested in PLM

    Hi All,
I am BW consultant.Interested in PLM .Could you please tell about PLM and if I want learn PLM what shall i do? This module comes under functional or technical?
    Thanks,
    Rakesh

    Hi Rakesh,
There are different tracktion for PLM in SAP
    1. <b>Product Data Management</b>
which covers Material Management, Bill of Material, Document Managment System, Classification System, Variant Configurations, CAD Interfaces. etc.
Most of the Industries will be using these cross application components for their Engineering Departments.
    2. <b>Program Management</b>
Where Entire Program is capture i.e. From Customer Enquirry to the Order execution and till Dispatch.
Here again Project System, CFolder, CProjects, DMS, MM, BOM, Workflow etc can be a part of the PLM
    3. <b>Asset LifeCylce Management</b>
This is used in different Scenarios where companies wants to trace there assets
    or lifecycle of their assets.
Project Systems and DMS will be mostly involved.
    4.<b> Quality Managment</b>
Strictly Speaking PLM Products are used in R& D Department, Engineering Department, Design & Drafting Departments of the Companies/organizations,
Where they try to modify their existing Products, try to Design as per the customer requirements, Try to launch new Product by doing R & D works.
PLM is Mostly used in these Departments of the Organizations

  • Relation between PLM and QM modules

What is the relation between PLM and QM modules?
These two are different modules or QM is one of the module in PLM and there is no module as PLM and its just general term?
Why QM is many times called with PLM - QM?

    Hi Sandip,
mySAP PLM has many key features like:
    1.Collabarative Engineering and Design.
    2. Custom Product Development
    3. Knowledge Management
    4. Project Management
    5.Colloborative Maintenance management
    6. QUALITY MANAGEMENT
<u>Begin quality planning during the product design phase, and create a foundation for quality inspection processes and in-process control during production
and Allow employees to play a central role in quality management
and it also Satisfy criteria for ISO 9000 and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)</u>
Tracking the Product through out its life from a quality perspective is PLM-QM
The Functionality that Spans the Entire Product & Asset Life Cycle are:
    1. Life Cycle Data Management (MM, BOM, DMS, CAD Interface, Classification System)
    2. Program & Project Management(Project System, Collaboration Folders, Collaboration Projects, XRPM, xAPPS)
    3.QUALITY MANAGEMENT
    4. Asset Life-Cycle Managment
    5. Environment, Health and Safety.

  • Send Email & Store in mySAP Cfolders

    Hi,
I have developed a WD application through which I populate a adobe form from SAP.Now user keys in some more fields.
When user clicks submit it should send an email which is already in that form  plus it should store in respective project (Hard Copies) folder of Mysap PLM Cfolders as We already have these folders bulit up for all projects.
FYi.. I don't need anything back to SAP. I have used Submit by ema.. button and it sends an XML file though.but I need to send PDF form which is filled by the user.
Also,I have hard coded my em..address but I want it be binded to my address which I will be prefilling.

    Hi,
    Thank you for the links.
My requirement made me follow the blog of Juergen.
https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/6676. [original link is broken] [original link is broken] [original link is broken]
Right now with submit button I can attach PDF and it is linking it to my EMAEL client but my EMAEL address is not showing up in TO address.
This is what I followed from Juergen Hauser blog.
I create the EMAEL button on the form based on the standard button. I drag and drop the button onto the form and then take a look at the properties. In the "field" tab of the object palette you can find the "control type". I just set it to "submit". Doing this I get an additional tab called "submit". This tab contains a field where you can enter the "Submit to URL". If you want to submit data via EMAEL you have to use an "EMAELto:" URL.
The EMAEL address shouldn't be contained in the form template. It should be data driven so that it can be changed without touching the template. So let's assume that the EMAEL address is contained in the form data (e.g. in a node that is not bound to any field on the form).
First of all we have to find out where the URL is stored in the template. The XFA Specification helps us here (see also my blog about where to find documentation on scripting for Interactive Forms). It tells us that a submit button has a node "event". This node has another subnode called "submit" and this node has a property called "target". To dynamically set the submit-to URL we have to script against this property.
To access the "target" property of the EMAEL button in JavaScript we have to use the function resolveNode. You can use the following JavaScript line to set the URL of a submit button:
I have used following Code in Initialize & also tried in ready event.
    this.resolveNode("#event.#submit").target = "EMAELto:"+$record.EMAELaddress.value;
My plan is to use the EMAEL address from node.
It may by default bring the EMAEL address from database or else user-may also key in the EMAEL address and it should take that EMAEL whle sending the PDF.
What is going wrong with me.
resolved it basically I was misisng
    TABLE name in code
    this.resolveNode("#event.#submit").target = "mailto:"+$record.ITEM.PEMAI.value;

  • What exactly is PLM

    Hello Friends,
I am new to PLM , actually my requirement is 2 have 3D image rotation like for CAD Files.
Im using ecl viewer for that, but my seniors told me that one can use PLM
What is PLM ? Is it different from SAP R/3
is it a software which needs to install or it has its complete different hardware ???

PLM stands for Product Lifecycle Management.
    A PLM definition:
“A strategic business approach that applies a set of
business and IT solutions in support of collaborative
creation, management and use of product definition
information across the extended enterprise from
concept to end of life – integrating people, processes,
business systems, and information. Product Lifecycle
consists of three interacting lifecycles in the
    organization: product definition, production definition
    and operational support”.
The key benefits for customers are accelerating time
to market, reducing life cycle costs and optimizing
    asset utilization.
Management of product definition lifecycle is not a
new concept. Twenty years ago Product Data
Management (PDM) was a leading concept for
    management of engineering information. Customs
    implementation focused on precise applications.
Today, PLM is a business concept that covers the
lifecycle in the extended enterprise, addressing top
and bottom line issues. PLM solutions can support a
broad range of products in all kind of
    industries/customers (civil engineering/construction,
chemicals, high tech/electronics, and public sector).
Industry specific data/process requirements like FDA,
ISO, STEP, UCC can be covered in SAP PLM solutions.
PLM does not include other major enterprise
solutions like ERP and CRM. However, PLM solutions
    integrate with other business systems
    on information and process level.
So: the MySAP PLM solution is one of the market
    leaders in Product Definition Management.
