N70 Firmware v5.07xx.x.x.x BUG - memory card corru...

Hi there,
I have N70 and I brought 1GB Kingston MMC card.
Here is the firmware bug...
First, when i bought my Nokia N70 it had firmware version v2.xxx.x.x.x.x ( i do not rimember all numbers ) and the 1GB and 32 MB MMC worked just fine... After updait on v5.0705.3.0.1 ( lastest balkan version ) i have a problems!
When I put the card in my phone it tells me there is no data (of course I put it empty), and when I copy any data from phone memory, the phone tells me that: (Memory card is corrupted). I tried with format but the problem still there ( i tryed to format with phone and card reader!).
This happens often, and sometimes phone doesnt display error (Memory card is corrupted), so i have onother problem! It seem to phone write data on MMC over filled clusters whit other data! For example, I transfer 50 songs, and few songs are writen over onother! I start one song it plays me onother, or phone start to play song i have chosen but in the middle of the song play onother one xD!
This is not only my problem! I have searched on nokia forums but no one didn`t give relevat informations and no one help enyone obout this problem....
When i format and use card reader to transfer data phone is able to read withotut problems, but when i use camera ( and camera store data on MMC ) the MMC is corrupted
I one more thing, i have reinstall and reset my phone milion times! that doesnt help!

N70 firmware upgrade problem.

After upgrading, my phone is running fine. But this time i can't install opera mini 4.2. When trying to install it says 'installation error downloading failed'. Should i reinstall the firmware ? I am in great trouble.Please help me. Thanks in advance.

any nokia engineer can update the software for you, you just need to arrange an appointment to get it done.

IS THERE ANY UPDATE AVAILABLE FOR ME? CAN I INSTALL NOKIA MUSIC EDITION FIRMWARE IN MY PHONE IF SO HOW TO DO IT? SOME ONE PLEASE HELP ME OUT

With NSU You can do the update process. The only problem could be the system language, because if the phone is from another region, NSU go do the upgrade with that language region... I´m not sure that English language is present on all regions!

N70 firmware 5.0638.3.0.1 for o2 mobile

Hi, i've a strange problem. I cant't update firmware in my O2 mobile - i've sw v3.0546.2.3.
When i try update it with updater form nokia site it tells that there is no never version for my phone and i can only reinstall old firmware.
Is it possible to download unbranded firmware for this handset ? What i should do to have Polish version of firmware in this phone ?

I've your same problem: I've update my firmware one weeks ago and I find that the battery drains faster for my n70 too!
For first thing I had thought about changing the battery but if the problem isn't there what I (we) have to do?
1 wait new software release to fix problem ?
2 bring my phone to nokia center to reset and install previous version ?
...the third solution could be made it by myself but nokia say isn't possible to remove firmware upgrades...and so I don't know what should is best to do.

N70 firmware-update - doesnt continue "searching f...

Hi everybody
I have trouble updating the firmware.
I installed everything as I was supposed to and connected the nokia n70 with the computer via USB. PC Suite recognized the phone and i clicked the button to update the firmware. in the upcoming window "nokia software Updater" i followed the instructions and clicked on start. it started with the message "searching for a connected phone" and thats it. it is searching for... well, 20 minutes now, but earlier this day it was searching for an hour.
Twice i managed to come to "detecting your phone", but those times it got stuck then.
The connection works fine. I can use every other application in pc suite without any trouble. The computer has the requirements and its pretty new, so there should not be any problem.
i also turned off the anti virus program (norton). I reinstalled the software (PC Suite, Software Updater and USB-cable connection) with norten being turned off, but nothing helps
one last thing: i own the phone for 3 weeks now and got it from a friend. the friend had the phone from a contract with vodafone, but i do not believe that there should be a problem.
please help me.
furthermore i just found out that my n70 makes a noise when the light of the phone (display background / keyboard) is on.
The noise is kind of like "hmmmmmm". Like a recharger. what do you know about that?

Here is the reason for the problem
Norton doesnt like the nokia software updater.
I uninstalled norton and suddenly i was able to update my phone.
So:
The reason for hanging at "searching for a connected phone" is norton! deactivating norton does not help! you have to uninstall norton!!!

No chinese language support in new N70 firmware?

I've just used to Nokia Software updater and it updated my N70's firmware to V5.0616.2.0.3, 24-04-06 RM-84. But now i couldn't see any chinese text...any solution to this? And also now when i try to SMS, It doesn't want to send the message..just stays in the outbox..how come?

Thai is hardly alone in lacking support currently. Others are Arabic, Hebrew, all the languages of India and Pakistan, and all the rest of S.E. Asian including Vietnamese.
The languages which are supported are listed very clearly in the tech specs for the iPod. If you must have Thai you should buy something else. For the benefit of other readers, perhaps you could recommend a similar device with good Thai support?

Not everyone gets access to the very latest firmware, what firmware you end up with is determined by the seven digit product code on the sicker under the battery.
When Nokia releases new firmware only a few product codes get access to it, then over time they add new codes. If your handset is branded/provided by a network/operator this can also delay the update or you might not get it at all as the network/operator has the final say in approving/modifying the new firmware for their branded handsets.

N70 firmware update withour SIM card

I have buy 6 N70 for training purpose. I have just tried to upgrade the firmware (3... to 5...) but it failed I have no SIM card. How can I upgrade ?

u must have at least i sim card for all the 6 phones cause the update procces can't be done without a sim card as the software updaer program asks u to keep the sim in phone while updting

New N70 firmware cause my phone restart randomly

Hi there,
I just updated the firmware on my N70 from version v 2.0xxx to the latest v 5.0616.2.0.3. However, I found a problem is my phone will restart itself randomly, usually every 20-30 minutes. This happens even i did not touch anything on the phone.
It seems the firmware date is 24-04-2006.
My phone model is RM-84

I too am having this problem with v 5.0609.2.0.1, although I'm not sure of the frequency of the reboots. I'll see if there is a newer version update available as haishan's appears more recent...

SPA962 firmware 6.1.5(a) CW BUG

It seems that there is a bug with the CW (call waiting) feature on the 6.1.5(a) firmware. I have more than 20 SPA962 phones, running firmware 5.1.15(aSC), running without problem. One of our tech guys here updated two phones to 6.1.5(a), and now these phones can't receive more than one call at a time. Not even a blinking red light.... looking at my Asterisk logs, I can see that now these 2 phones reports this when a second call is incoming:
Got SIP response 486 "Busy Here" back from 192.168.28.100
I checked that the CW feature is on "yes", I'm even doing centralized provisioning for all the phones at the same time, but only the two on the 6.1.5(a) firmware aren't working as expected.
All the phones have just one extension configured on the first line, and the 5.1.15(aSC) are working with multiple calls without any problems, on the same PBX server.
Anyone have seen this behavior too??

We use Xivo, an open source packaged solution based on Asterisk (works very well with our +600 phones).
The SIP message (here 486) com from the phone, not from the PBX, so this last one is not the probleme
I have try :
- a factory reseted phone, with just the sip account, CW and 2 lines enables, same things.
- a downgrade in 6.1.3a, same things ...
Xivo comes with smart autoprovisionning system that can be easily modified, so i am interested by your autoprov templates, maybe you could past them here without sensitives informations ?!

N70 firmware not updating

Hi, I'm updating from 3.0546.2.3 to 5.0705.3.0.1 and
I am at step 3/3. the window says updating software please wait - estimated time left is 10 minutes and has said this for the last 2 hours and there is no option to cancel. Any ideas appreciated. Thanks

Unfortunately something has crashed, either your PC, the phone or the NSU.
All you can do when this happens is pull the cable and hope for the best. If it won't switch back on try removing the battery for a few minutes. If it still doesn't work reboot your computer and try this:
First remove the battery for 5 minutes, reconnect the battery, connect it to your pc and run the updater again. Leave it for a few minutes and it should go into recovery mode.
If not disconnect it and try a hard reset.
Hard reset:
1. Switch off the phone.
2. Hold down the following three buttons: Green (the call answer button), * button, and '3' button.
3. While holding these buttons, press the power button and switch on the phone.
4. Release when the phone shows the nokia logo or shows other signs of life like the language selection screen.
If that fails to fix it try the advice offered in this post by drummer27:

If that still fails then the last option is to take the phone to a nokia care point.

TP4[BUG]: Memory profile and CPU profile doesn't work for MAC

I'm using Mac OSX 10.5.4.
When I try to use Memory profile and CPU profile, I got following error:
Error occurred during initialization of VM
Could not find agent library in absolute path: /Shared/jdevstudiobase1111/jdev/lib/profiler15.so
But the file actually exists.

My MAC version is OSX 10.5.4.
I don't have a stacktrace. It just fails silently.
You can easily reproduce this bug by reformat a readonly file.
Here is the code I reverse engineered from oracle.jdeveloper.refactoring.util.Util.java:

Memory card bug

After I move some data from my PC to my bb 8520 the device stopped reading the data on the memory card , the device reads the memory card but it can't read any folders or media on it but the memory card works perfect on any other device even my bb reads any other memory card perfect

You have moved some of your files in your PC. Create New Folder in your desktop and copy all your file on your media card to your New Folder in your Desktop. Now, reformat your media card. Once done, copy back your files and try to open it in your BlackBerry.
