N73 / PC suite / communication center / import con...

Hi,
I downloaded my contacts from my N73 in CSV format. I edited the CSV. Now when I try to import this file via pc suite/ communication center the program crashes ("communication center stopped working, windows vista is trying to find a solution blah blah").
I have latest pc suite 7.0.9.2, connecting with USB cable (also just been updated).
Any ideas?

There may be few things
Kindly do check both your System(PC) and Your Phone timings are matching, because not all the phone will handle Daylight Saving Time. If your phone does not support DST, make sure that Time settings are adjusted on your phone/pc so that both the time events matches. Once you make sure that these two got mathced, sync your device with PC Suite and check.

When exporting SMS messages with Chinese text to csv file, all Chinese characters will turn to confusion symbols.
My phone: E51 Singapor edition;
Windows XP English, with Chinese PRC for non-unicode program.
English version of PC suite, Nokia communication center version 2.0.

Yes Clinton I did same, but they were (Huawei customer support) surprised about this problem, They behave like they have no idea about USB 2.0 and 3.0 knowledge. They handsUp that reason I posted my problem in this forum.
So is there any better solution to use any mediator between these USB version handling, Please let me know.

Help Setting Up a Theater for 50-100 In a Community Center

Hi, folks--
I am a gringo living in central Mexico (loving it, by the way). There is a fantastic community center here that shows important indie flicks to the community free of charge. Their equipment is horrible. I am trying to put together a system for them that does what they need for as little 4 as possible. If you can help with brands and other advice, please let me know your thoughts. here are the details:
Front projection screen--large, like as close to 6' x 10' as possible;
manual roll up is fine;
A front projector that has HDMI and is relatively quiet--it sits a few feet in front of the audience, unfortunately (we were looking at rear projection systems, but screens are way too expensive--over $1000 compared to around $300).

I understand your confusion, but 'gringo' is not a negative term down here at all unless it is modified by something negative like 'Pinche gringo!" first (you can probably fill in that meaning with your imagination! . Some people also call us Americans and North Americans, but technically these aren't accurate because Mexico is part of the Americas, and of course Mexicans are also North Americans.
So 'gringo' has become a simple linguistic shortcut, and is genuinely not an insult down here unless one says it in an insulting tone or with an insulting modifier--I forget that in the states I used to hear it used that way.
I've lived here for 7 years now, and while there have been some inevitable miscommunications, I've never been or felt insulted simply for being a non-Mexican. It actually is a very nice group of folks.

E71: Communication Center fails to load SMS messag...

I have an E71, which I connect to my laptop and use to update my Calendar etc. I also read and reply to SMS from the Messages option of the communication Center.
However, the messages fail to load intermittently, whereas other things like Contacts and Calendar load properly.
I have tried reinstalling the software , but it doesn't work.

I normally set "memory card" to work and store my all messages, and I do backup (*.npu file, right?) for both internal and SD card memory (I select all when functioning "Back up" in PC suite) to my notebook using PCsuite from time to time. With this, could you tell me where can I check and open my messages in my notebook. I just want to make sure that folders under "My folders" under "Messaging" menu are really backed up and can be opened by my notebook.
Besides, in case that I use my microSD card to work with my all messages, at least I should be able to locate where all messages are kept, shouldn't I? Could you advise how can I locate such files by "File manager" function?

Nokia Communication Center unable to sync

Hi I have an N97 with the latest firmware and using latest version of Nokia PC Suite. When I first got my phone I was able to read/delete/edit my SMS through the Communication Center. After an update (forgot which update - phone or the PC Suite) the Communication Center does not show SMS on my phone anymore. It's always 0 messages. Please help. I need to backup my SMS and reset the phone.
On another note, anyone notice the extreme slow when SMS? I timed the process from receiving an SMS to finish replying the SMS (with just one word) took me more than 1 minute. It was real fast before I updated my phone's firmware. Such a shame on a nice phone. I'm loosing patience and Nokia might loose this user permanently if nothing is done to fix this

With the phone attached go to device manager and rightclick-uninstall the device. Then disconnect the phone, switch it OFF and re-attach to a different USB port.. This shoudl re-discover and install drivers.

I hit the same problem with N97 across two machines (both Windows XP Home SP3). The Nokia Communication Center (NCC) only crashes with Messages, but not Contacts and Calendar.
The NCC I'm using is version 7.1.21.0, the msvcr80.dll, 8.0.50727.4053.
Via Nokia support, I was asked to uninstall PC Suite, run Nokia PC Suite Cleaner, re-install PC Suite. This does not exactly solve the problem. However, I can see NCC displaying the messages, then begin loading them, finally crashing when the load reaches 53%. Subsequently, NCC always crashes just right after launch before the display of messages.
A reinstallation of PC Suite does not bring me back to the above observation. However, a reinstallation with the use of the Cleaner does.
Eventually, I was able to track the cause to two things:
1. The file C:\Documents and Settings\<User>\Application Data\PC Suite\356064032901395\PCCSMMS.db, and
2. The MMS from OVI.com, containing the configuration for synchronisation of contacts, calendar, etc to OVI.com.
Removing the PCCSMMS.db file allows the problem to be recreated. Removing the OVI.com MMS on N97 alone does not resolve the problem.
The problem was eventually resolved by removing both the PCCSMMS.db file and the OVI.com MMS.
It does appears to be a defect or limitation with NCC with configuration type MMS.
Hope you'll manage to read this post, and thus check if this applies to you.

Nokia Communication Center Minor Bug

G'day,
When using Nokia Communication Center v2.0 in PC Suite v7.1.26.0 to send messages, i've noticed that the stated number of concatenated messages is incorrect. It seems to change in increments of 160 characters when it should go up 160, 306, 459, etc. Can i fix this manually (i am computer-literate =P) or maybe it will be released in a minor update please? [Windows 7 RC and Nokia N85, although neither will probably effect it]

Hi, I have been trying to understand how this business of concatenated messages works. I have observed that even what I think are relatively short messages typed on my PC are broken up into multiple messages when i send.
It certainly seems to create multiple messages from much shorter sentences when i type on my PC then when i enter directoy on the phone (N95 incidentally)
I am using PC suite 7.1.30.9, and just today i entered a message of 322 characters, and it was sent as 5 concatenated messages.
PC suuite said 5, and my phone also showed 5/5 in the reports.
Can someone explain this?

Communication Center (SMS

I am using Nokia E61i mobile with PC Suite V7.1.18.0
My problem is that when I click on the communication center messages, all my Arabic messages appear as garbage. The same messages appear fine on the phone.
My notebook runs on Windows XP Professional English interface with Arabic enabled. All other Arabic applications are working fine.

My n85 got the same problems I got 3573 message in my inbox.. i am thinking to store the msg and reformat my phone.. but the NCC just show my MMS..
Solution:
I unplug the cable n restart the NCC connected with bluetooth. It show me text message.
New problems:
It only show up to 3252 message.
I want to store the message. I tried to store it in cvs form, but it doesn't record the time. vmg file does record the time But it need to store one by one
Is there any software can allow me to store all message to vmg, or other format that contain data like contact name, contact number, date and time?

Nokia 5800 and communication center

I have about 4000 text messages on my mobile, and im trying to view them all on my nokia communication center. When i first load it, all of them come up...couple of seconds later it starts to refresh and load new ones, and on the left hand side, it gets to 57% and they all just dissapear, and I cant see any of them etc.
Please can someone tell me what I can do to solve this problem? Thanks

Connecting a Community Center in Cape Town, South Africa

Hi,
I'm working with a team of students in parternship with the One Laptop Per Child initiative.
We will be traveling to Cape Town, South Africa to distribute ~100 laptops.
I am the "tech guy" of the group of three and am in charge of networking the community center.
What router would you suggest? What else should I be thinking about? I've only worked with routers in a home/small business environment.

But will they be keeping up with the fairly rapid process/workflow changes that Adobe implements? There's already a slew of videos out there - at Adobe TV and a slew of other places - in which info is woefully out of date.
