N8 "conn. failed conn. unavailable"

Hi I have a problem with my N8 O2 UK Gray, latest SW (14.002)
I had faulty flash and had it repired via nokia tech support.
Letter says they've fixed flash and reinstalled software.
When I received the phone first thing was updating few apps, including Ovi Store. At that point it all seemed ok, even though Ovi wouldnt update due to some error, but it did go online and downloaded data. Next thing was restoring all backup data, and from this point my N8 wouldnt go online no matter which connection I used, either cellular network and wifi. Just after starting connection popup b'loon says "conn. failed conn. unavailable" and does this to all access points I have stored.
I have tried both soft & hard reset (may even be 10 times so far), reinstalling software using NSU and Ovi Suite and still getting nowhere. To my knowledge only thing left is "Three Fingerz" method, but dont think its gonna help and I dont want to wipe half of programs preinstalled...
Anyone had similar problem? I have repair booked already, but Im afraid its gonna be sending the phone away again and again (when I restore backup again).

Hi I have a similar prob with my E7. Seems to be common. There should be access points in the INTERNET section. Some software is trying to connect to internet
Go to - MENU-SETTINGS-CONNECTIVITY-SETTINGS-DESTINATIONS. and inside DESTINATIONS you will see INTERNET. Create access point in this INTERNET folder. For me its working fine.

My Nokia N8 says "conn. failed conn. unavailable" twice in popup like baloon every one or two minutes and this happens after and before usb connection also.
It takes a big resource and I cannot watch video, capture video/voice and even type an SMS because everytime it appears phone stops responding to my touches and this is absolutely annoying.
I tried these ways to solve it :
1) connected the phone to Nokia configuration tool to manage/delete every single access points
2) tried to install newer Ovi support software but the Ovi suite says it is up to date
3) tried to uninstall the Ovi and Ovi store apps on my phone but I get "removing cancelled", it seems they're built in !!!
4) I read every posts about rebooting in offline and rebooting without sim card
5) I changed the connection settings to "always ask"
but unfortunately no success
I know how to reset my phone via 3buttons and *#7370# code but I'm not gonna do it for every error I get in new Symbian^3 because I have plenty of softwares and I don't have much time to install and configure them
Somebody please help me to handle this error which is really really bothering me.

I have just bought a N8 and I had the same problem... I solved it by going to settings/ connectivity/ settings/ network destinations and deleting all the access points from each connection folder (do this by pressing on the connection folder, for example 'internet' then delete the destinations by holding your finger down on them til the menu appears then select delete) I deleted the whole lot, then sent a text to my mobile network (o2) to resend me the net settings, I saved them from the text and when I went back to the destinations list (as above) I found the phone had put the settings from o2 into another destination folder called 'uncategorised'. I think the problem with symbian is that it was causing the destinations in the 'internet' folder to conflict with the destinations in 'uncategorised', so because I had erased the settings from 'internet'', all I had to do was move the destinations from 'uncategorised' to 'internet', which means the uncategorised folder had to be deleted, but now because my phone is doing everything from just the 'internet' folder, theres no confusion, and I havent had that 'connection error' message since

N8 Connection failed / Connection unavailable for ...

My N8 C: was always running out of memory so I thought of doing a Hard Reset.
I backed up data, Hard Reset(wipes off all memory), Restored.
Now I am able to find my WiFi hotspot but not able to connect, it says Connection failed / Connection unavailable.
WiFi hotspot is created using Nokia E72 JoikuSpot which worked smoothly prior to Hard Reset but not now. My other devices are still able to connect to the hotspot so everything is fine at Joiku in E72.
I have tried Soft Reset, Hard Reset of my N8 and even deleting the HotSpot from saved connection & then re-saving it.
Pls advise.
Using Nokia Lumia 1320.
Also have Nokia E72 & Nokia N8.

Replying for an update because i had this problem, fixed, but have it again:
Well I did about a month ago i had the same problem with the mobile data saying connection failed. I did the soft restand then hard reset, but then still had the issue. I deleted all the access points and then took out the sim card. Put the sim card back in and then had to manually setup my access point.
That worked, not sure if it was one specific thing or the whole combination.
but now the same problem is back, the mobile data not working and saying connection failed/connection unavailable. Cannot get it fixed no matter what i try so far (tried resets, manually inputting apn settings again, etc)
my wifi works by the way.
Did you find a fix or does anyone have any suggestions?

808 - Connection failed Connection unavailable mes...

I just received my 808 replaced by Nokia for the 3G bug issue. Now I have been noticing that annoying Connection Failed connection unavailable message every few seconds. Turned the positioning methods OFF and the frequency of the error message goes away but it still pops up every few minutes. I did a hard reset, removed the memory card where most of my apps are installed and it still gives me that same error. Ordered a new SIM to see if that makes any difference - none - Still same error message. That message is so annoying. Anyone have any other ideas that I could try ? Privacy mode is OFF also.

Have you assigned a data connection preference for browser and other apps requiring data ?

I'm running iPlanet Directory Server 5.1 SP3. I have a W2K consumer and a HPUNIX 11.0 supplier/hub. I keep getting this message in the W2K instance's error's log. Replication is not in sync.
In the Supplier hub's errors log I"m getting the following error:
[13/Jun/2005:02:21:15 -0400] - synchronize(repl_bind error)
[13/Jun/2005:10:57:27 -0400] - Error: repl_bind: slapd_SSL_client_bind_s failed: Can't contact LDAP server (81) err 0
Could someone please point me in the right direction on this? BTW, I work for an enormous corporation that moves real slow, so please don't come back to me with, "well, have you thought about upgrading to SP4 or SunOne 5.2?" I swear if I hear that again I'm going to go insane.

RDP conn fails thru AnyConnect

I have an issue that I believe IS NOT ASA or AnyConnect related, but I need to ask the support comm. just the same.
ASA5510 8.2(5) OS; AnyConn Windows 2.5.2017
RDP PC client - Win7 Pro 64-bit
I can make the VPN conn to the ASA
I can ping any pingable IP on the protected net
I can RDP to a W2k8 64-bit server (domain-controller)
I cannot RDP to a W2k3 server (WTS) - I don't even get the Microsoft domain login screen - just times out.
I am connecting to both by IP address to preclude DNS issues.
From a 32-bit OS PC I can RDP to either.
Suggestions?

Thanks for posting back to the forum that the problem turned out to be MTU. I read your description of the problem and it certainly did not look to me like a problem with MTU. But one of the nice things about the forum is being reminded of the variety of things that can cause problems.

같은 환경에서 R1을 설치해서 이것저것 해보다가 R2도 나왔다길래 설치해봤었는데요. (R1은 이상없이 잘됨)
R2에서는 외부에서 서버쪽으로 접속이 되지가 않습니다.
클라이언트 -> 서버쪽으로

ip address of the target system may be incorrect...
logon credentials may not be correct...

Finally Nokia has updated social network software on Nokia Belle. I thought it would solve the problem,but still when i open default applications such as Facebook,Twitter, Check in, Social networks in upper right corner it shows message "Connection failed. Connection unavailable".On any other application there is connection. I would like to suggest Nokia to transfer to some other software,because they dont know how develop own. This is the message from unsatisfied customer,because my Nokia is not working correctly for about 1year,from release of Nokia Anna. Or maybe you have solution for my problem after 6 months?

I'm having this problem too for a while now. I have done a few hard resets and I've managed to get the 1.3.236 version working and connecting just so I can upload photos on facebook. I can now see another update (1.5.216) available but I'm still afraid to update because it might not connect. Another app which I was using and is now facing the same issue is AccuWeather. I will have to upgrade my contract soon and the Samsung Galaxy S3 looks better than the Nokia 808 Pureview from where I'm standing. I'm looking forward to video calls with Skype and a proper facebook app

CCK & iPad2 FAIL - (Accessory Unavailable-The attached accessory uses too much power)

Well, I'm not too impressed right now.
Picked up my new Camera Connection Kit (CCK) tonight and received the error message (see post title) on every camera I tried it on.
DCMI folders located in root.
Latest update (5.1)
This is with direct to camera connections.
Cameras all use micro SD cards, which CCK claims are comparable.
Some cameras use fully charges lithium batteries, others standard AA rechargables.
I'll buy a micro SD to SD converter if I have to, but the whole idea if geting the CCK was to have the photos transfer from camera to iPad with little hassle.
I'm away from home and without my laptop, so an out of the box working solution would have Been ideal.
Please reply ONLY if you've have a similar problem, or know the solution. Wishful thoughts of exploring further only clutter the topic.

Perhaps if you stated the models of cameras. From what I've read if you're connecting the cameras to the CCK, there are sometimes settings on the cameras you need to change to make it work.
I always use mine just with the SD card - saves my camera battery - and I've not had an issue.

Symbian^3 - How to reset settings without losing m...

I have a problem with applications created using nokiaappwizard crashing as soon as the window opens.
As we cannot renstall the Web browser by itself, is there any way of performing a settings reset alone for the phone without losing any data particularly messages.
(This is important because I have done a *#7780# reset 2 times for this and another reason before, but each time a variable number of my messages got restored. Once 300 out of around 1100 and another time 600 out of 1100. And they never managed to restore right - I lost many important messages I had stored in user created folders within the messaging application.)
I have tried changing the SIM. It fixed an error "Conn Failed : Connection Unavailable" but it could not fix this application crash.
NOTE : I am able to use the Web browser if I launch it independently. But if it has to run an appwizard application, it opens a blank window frame and then crashes without giving any error.
The standard Nokia Care solution of resetting is not feasible due to reason I have mentioned above.
I am looking for any user invented ingenious workaround

It certainly seems that there is some underlying error in your firmware.
Personally I think you are going to have to re install the firmware on your phone.
I know you don't want to lose important messages, however I would try your best to back them up, and if they are that important, maybe copy the details into a word document, just to be safe.
It seems as though there is an underlying software issue which is not going to be fixed by some ingenious workaround unfortunately.
Maybe someone else can suggest another way around?
