N95 overheating????

i am having trouble with my n95 v21.0.016 whenever i use an application which is processer heavy (music player , camera but mainly the web browser on sites that are pic heavy)the phone crashes and tries to re-boot, it used to do it first time or i'd take the battery out and restart it that way, but now it has trouble re booting when warm it crashes the screen goes black then goes to the nokia white start up screen then goes black (but the keypad is lit up)or it goes black the goes to the white screen and sticks or it just keeps going white to black continuously the only way i can get the phone to reboot when it's like this is to stick it in the fridge!!! then after a few minutes it starts first time

My N95 is overheating on warm days (say over 26C) it shows the standard black screen or white Nokia screen & cannot be switched off. It will not re-start until phone is cooled down via car A/C vent etc & battery re-installed. Nokia Service Centre Clayton has looked at it 3 times, 1st time they do the usual **bleep** by re-installing software **bleep** they do (that is one of the standard ones) & the 2nd & 3rd visits found nothing wrong. It simply does not like warm days unlike my N90 or my brothers E55 & N70. The only thing I figure is maybe the 2gb sandisk is stuffed & have put the standard Nokia 1gb suplied with phone to test on next warm day. Other than that, it is only 11 months old under current Optus contract & Optus will not replace it until Nokia care centre has seen it 3 times & state there is a problem with it. Basically it is a fine phone to use but what's the point when it does not run on a warm day & it is very very interesting when they simply do not list a temperature range in the whole manual & that gets them away from admitting it has temperature issues. I'm only trying to use the non genuine sandisk micro SD as an excuse, just putting the one back in that Nokia supplied with the phone just for the hell of it, but basically until I can get nokia to say it has a problem I am simply stuck with the damn thing.

"May be the N95 8GB is what the N95 generic should meant to be" ?????
Why shouldn't the N95 be what it is supposed to be?! So Nokia just sets out a "trial" version of it mobile phone with buggy software, watches the market impact and then decides on releasing a new model ?! Hope it's not so with such a company.
Anywayz let's not start getting overheated on this issue... so back to my problem I talked about earlier (not recognizing contacts whose number is saved in international format +961...) Does any of the N95 users experiencing such a thing ? Any solution?
Anywayz I contacted the company by email and what I got was this answer:
"Thank you for emailing Nokia Careline.
We are always pleased to be of assistance to all of our customers in the region of the Middle East and North Africa. With regards to your enquiry, please be informed that we have escalated your inquiry to the relevant department and we will revert to you back when we receive the updates about the issue you are facing."
What the hell does this mean ??? Well this looks like a nice ditch to me.
Please Advise !!!!!! IS there any plans for a new version ?????? IS VERSION 12.0.013 THE DOOMED ENDING OF MY N95????

    To the OP:
The answer means exactly what it said, your problem or query has been passed over to the relevant department who will deal with your enquiry. It's just a courtesy email to acknowledge reciept and handling of your enquiry.
Who would you rather recieve information from? The janitor who happens to be in the office at the time and can reply in 5 minutes, or the tech support folks who may take a while longer?
There's DEFINATELY a V.13.xx.xx on the way, I shalln't be adding to the rumour mill about what it's tackling. There's no date for release for it yet as far as anyone I know (who would know these things) is aware, but it's happening.
Hang fire for a while, if your firmware is screwy try reinstalling it a couple of times, it's a bit of a mixed bag and different installs can have different results. Why is anyone's guess but that's the way it is.
It's a great phone which has had the majority of it's bugs ironed out with the last 2 updates, can't say I've experienced any new bugs having ran version 12 of the software for quite some time but I am aware of a few gliches that need fixing, and hope they are.
I have to say I'm very happy with my N95 and have yet to use a phone that compares to it.

  • Windows Vista + N95 + Image Store - "Error communi...

I am trying to store images from my N95 using the Image Store application. This worked beautifully in XP, but after upgrading to Vista, all I get is a dialog box telling me "Error communicating with the phone".
This happens for both Bluetooth and USB connection, and it doesn't help that I set the Image Store to XP compatability, or run as admin. I really miss the Image Store functionality, it took the fuss out of storing images from the phone completely.
    How can I fix this?
    Details: Nokia N95

    Nokia N95 (03.01)
    Window Vista Business

    Image Store 6.83.0.0
    Best regards,
    Goran

There is another cause and cure I think cause I just "fixed" my problem of this kind over many hours of agonising and trying the suggestions above.   Another internet site tells you :
"This usually happens for the simple reason that Gallery on the S60 device is running and currently holding open one of the files you're trying to backup (and delete). Switch to Gallery on the smartphone, back out of the image or video clip and use 'Exit'. Now try the 'Store images' function again - it should work fine!"
Unfortunately I couldn't obviously see a photo open in the Gallery. I was trying to store 103 images and I noticed it was stopping at one. I had a look at that one, it was not that important so I deleted it and try again. And it worked! It was as if it was evil, and blocking the software at that point. So it backed up about 70 images and jammed again. Found another image which I remember taking with the camera about a week ago and deleted that one, again not too important. Tried again and it went all the way backing up to a photo I took yesterday.
So that's it, something is left half open when the photo is saved and it screws up image store when it reaches it. Actually, I think that last image which I took I screwed up by closing the camera cover before it had finished doing its thing. I think now the moral of the story is that the digital camera in my N82 and it's softwared needs some TLC, it is not that robust, you need to give it a few seconds to do it's thing or it half saves these corrupted images. I could view the stuffed up image perfectly on the camera and Im sure there would be a better technical way of properly closing it in symbian rather than deleting it but yay it is solved!!

  • Who can solve iSync problem with Nokia N95? (I use the Nokia plug already)

    Hello
Since I bought my new cool Mac:, I sync my N95 with iSync and the Nokia N95 plug-in. Thinking at first that is works flawlessly (as other members here seem to think as well) I later found out, that if I make changes to any calendar or "to do" description! on either the N95 or the Mac it syncs, but only up until a certain number of characters. If I exceed this number, the description on the phone will simply be cut off - in the iCal it still fully appears though.
Rather surprising, since when syncing with a PC via the Nokia PC suite there is no such an issue. All my often lengthy descriptions are fully put on the phone. And if I sync back there are no problems either. So I guess it has to do with the iSync protocol or this Nokia N95 iSync plug-in? Any ideas, solutions...? Any help greatly appreciated!

The flex cable is damaged. Some years back when I had a Nokia N95 8GB the flex cable was damaged and for a few days the screen was showing strange colours at the display and eventually the screen became black. I went to a local repair shop and I replaced the flex cable and what I noticed was that the flex cable that it had no proximity sensor on it so I told the technician to remove the proximity sensor on the original one and replace it with the new flex cable. Another thing I discovered was that after fitting the flex cable and returning the cover the front camera was not in its usual position so the technician had to do some modifications to get it back to its normal position and after a few months it was damaged and this time I went to Nokia Care Centre and replaced the flex cable for a small fee and what I noticed was that the flex cable that I previously bought was a fake cable. The one bought from Nokia Care Centre had its proximity sensor and when the cover was returned the camera was in its exact position the same as it was with the original flex cable. What I wanted to say is that please beware of fake flex cables on the market and I suggest that you buy it from an authorised Nokia Dealer.

  • Is your computer overheating?

My computer went down the other day, simply a black screen, no warning, no messages, just black. After a lot of messing around and diagnostics it turns out my computer was overheating.
An overheating or border line overheating machine can result in lock ups, slow downs, and unexpected reboots. To find out if your CPU is too hot you'll need the "hardware monitor" that comes with your motherboard. There are also plenty of third party programs which you can run.
The next question is "how hot is too hot?". Intel CPUs display one of two numbers... an absolute temperature ~or~ a thermal margin. The first is self explanatory but the second can seem confusing. The Margin indicates how many degrees remain before the CPU is critically hot. So the bigger the margin the safer you are.
Remember that modern computers conserve energy when idling, so run you most intensive application for 30-60 minutes and keep and eye on your temperatures. Conventional wisdom indicates you want your mobo and CPU less than 60°C (140F). Any higher and damage to one or the other may result. Intel has specific details on each CPU including its thermal maximum on this page, click here. Most modern CPUs give you a thermal margin which removes the guess work.
Tip... if your hard drives are too hot to keep your hand on for any period of time then you have excessive heat build up. Ensure hard drives have one drive bay gap between it and anything above it. Or use a case with hard drive cooling fans (see below).
If your board and/or CPU are running too hot you should consider a well ventilated case. I am now using the Antec 900 (click here) which has four over sized fans plus the fan in your PSU making five total. The 120mm BIG BOY (their words not mine) is placed directly above the CPU keeping it super cool.
Hopefully these tips will help those users experiencing weird hang ups and crashes.
Tip... if your temperature is good but file access is slow and you get lots of blue screens then there may be a chance your hard drive is about to fail. Make sure to run a check disc or similar application. And always make frequent backups!
Original Post on my Blog: http://gmckinney.blogspot.com/2008/09/is-your-computer-overheating.html

    >Gordon McKinney:To find out if your CPU is too hot you'll need the "hardware monitor" that comes with your motherboard.
I use the Intel supplied monitor (in the Intel Desktop Utilities) on my DG965WH motherboard with a Q6600 CPU and 8GB RAM, but I've found a problem when using it in Vista Ultimate 64.
Apparently the monitoring functions interrupt the mouse hardware (maybe all hardware for all I know) and cause random and temporary mouse pointer freezes that can last for a random amount of time--averaging around a second. The mouse pointer will catch up, but the interruptions really create havoc when using any mouse oriented program--particular LR2.1 and local corrections.
My solution is to run the Intel Desktop Utilities when I wish to check the temperatures--only a couple of times a day as I've never found them to be within 20 degrees (C) of a danger point--and then immediately kill iptray.exe.
Intel doesn't say IDU works in 64 bit OS versions, but I get the same readings with it in Vista 64 as I do in XP SP2. However, it doesn't have the mouse freeze problem in XP so I could leave it in a monitoring state.

  • K7N2 Delta Overheating

I have the K7N2 Delta board (rest of system specs are in sig) and after about 45mins-1 hour of gaming, my system locks up and resets.  After lock up, if i go into bios, my sys temps usually read about 59-64 degrees celcuis.  I was having this problem with the stock fan/hs, so i bought the Volcano 12, figuring that would solve the problem.  Didn't, only gave me about 1hr-1 1/2 hours before lock up at lowest RPM setting (2100), and only about 10-15 mins longer at highest RPM setting (about 5600).  I have the same problem when I run 3d 2003 test, it goes through the first set of tests fine, but when I get to the first CPU test, my system locks.
My idle temps on the CPU are about 45-52 degrees celcius, case temp is in about 38 celcius.  I read in other posts that it could be due to TOO MUCH thermal goo on the chip, but how do I know how much is too much?
Aside from overheating, what else might it be?
If I leave my system idle, it can go for days with no hint of a problem.  It's only when I start gaming (America's Army, UT 2k4 demo, BF1942) that I get problems.
Also, I ran memtest, RAM is fine.

Wonkanoby:  Ya, I know I need new RAM, but I'm on an incredibly tight budget now, so it's gonna be a while till I can afford some (basically, I haven't had a job in 8mths).
DeathStalker:  I tired what you said, opened up the side of my case, put a Vornado house fan on high speed facing my mobo, and the temps did drop quite a bit (with HS/fan @5600 RPM and idle CPU=41celcius, Sys=28celcius.  @2100RPM and idle CPU=44celcius, Sys=34celcius).  I decided to run the 3dMark2003 this way, with HS/fan @5600 RPMs, and I got through the first CPU test, but then they system crashed again.
So it seems that the extra cooling helped, but still wasn't enough.
Any suggestions on how to cool my system with out putting a house fan in there?  I already have 3 80mm fans (1 front bottom intake.  1 top exhaust, 1 rear exhaust).  I have room for 2 more 80mm fans (1 front bottom intake, 1 rear exhaust), but I don't think that would help cool the CPU all that much, would it?  I thought the TT Volcano 12 would help with cooling a lot, but it has only provided marginal imporvements.
Also, could it be that I am overstressing my RAM, and that is why I'm having these problems?
    Open to any suggestions.

  • Satellite A505-S6973 overheating and fan works often

I hate doing this but I seem to have encountered another problem which i have been searching and reading with the hopes of correcting myself. I presently own a Satellite series laptop with an Intel Cor 2 Duo T6500 2.1Ghz processor.
I 've been monitoring my system for performance issues andi've noticed that for sometime (unsure when) the temperature on my system has risen significantly. I'm seeing from my PC Health Monitor that my processors temperature is running at 59% and fan speed is at 78% yet when I place my hand near the cooling fins at the side of my laptop I can barely feel any breeze but a co-worker of mine has a vostro and the fan feels like it's running on NOs.
If there is anything that can be done I'd greatly appreciate this, i'm afraid of loosing my system due to something simple that cause overheating.
N.B. I noticed that at one time different users posted threads stating that after updating there BIOS they experienced overheating problems. If this is the cause of anywhere near it please help.

Are you sure that your notebook is overheating?
In my opinion you cant compare this with other notebook models because every notebook has its own cooling modules and fans and there are not standard parts as on desktop computers. Furthermore its also important which form factor your notebook has. Larger and bigger notebooks have a better cooling assembly as smaller ones.
Anyway, in my opinion you could try cleaning your notebook using compressed air spray. This should always be done from time to time to blow out the dust from the cooling ventilators. Therefore its not necessary to disassemble the notebook.

  • White Macbook (2008) overheating and shutting down

    Hello,
I have a white macbook from about 2008 (it is not unibody, it's the one you can remove the battery). My case has cracked all around and little pieces of the plastic have flaked away (as seen on all other 1 year+ macs of this generation). I figure this helps the heat escape rather than make the problem worse but I still plan to get the case fixed on with applecare.
My problem is that sometimes when running only iTunes and safari my CPU heats up to 90 degrees celcius (194 F) and my computer simply shuts off. I don't have the clear plastic covering vents and I just use my mac on my desk, not on a pillow or anything like that. When my computer heats up like that, the fan is rotating at about 6200+ RPM according to SMC fancontrol. Right now my computer is propped up using a large eraser to create a space for air to circulated along the bottom of the case.
What can I do to keep my Macbook from overheating? I don't want to damage my computer. I don't really do much video or real intense stuff, mainly just music.
    Any help is appreciated.

Open Activity Monitor in the Utilities folder.  Select All Processes from the Processes dropdown menu.  Click twice on the CPU% column header to display in descending order.  If you find a process using a large amount of CPU time (>=70,) then select the process and click on the Quit icon in the toolbar.  Click on the Force Quit button to kill the process.  See if that helps.  Be sure to note the name of the runaway process so you can track down the cause of the problem.

  • Satellite P300D-10V is overheating

    Hi everyone
I am using Toshiba p300 d-10v laptop till one year. After one month I've bought this notebook, I had some problems with it. For those problems I'vee sent my laptop to the service twice in three months.
First problem was it is overheating and closes the system. Second problem was about the ATI Graphic card. For those two problems the service person told that they did not see any problem and they sent it back. I am not going to sent it to this service in Turkey again.
I want some suggestions to find a solution for me.
As I heard from internet about this problem there are many users in Turkey having the same problem at that model of notebook. I can only use %70 percent of processor so if it goes up than it shuts the system, why I should use less than %70 percent of the capacity. If I knew this I would buy another model notebook. There was no any information about this model of notebook when I bought this model.
    Cheers
    Tolga

    Hi mate
I dont understand how you can use only 70% of the CPU performance.
Usually the CPU supports the AMD PowerNow Technology which allows you to use the CPU in Automatic mode.
In Automatic mode, the speed and voltage are controlled dynamically and automatically. It depends on the application how fast the CPU would run.
In Automatic mode, the needs of the application environment dictate the amount of performance required and power used.
This mode of operation ensures that only the required amount of power is dissipated.
Simply said if the application doesnt need the full CPU performance then the CPU will not run always with 100% and will not create high heat dissipation.
But the notebook could overheat if you would use non-Toshiba graphic drivers.
The drivers which are not certified by Toshiba dont support the overheating protection and the usage of such drivers could lead to a overheating. Therefore you should use always the Toshiba drivers because such drivers are designed especially for the notebooks graphic cards. Drivers from ATI page are created only for desktop PCs.
Finally its strongly recommended to use the notebook on the table and to ensure that there is enough free space around the notebook to ensure a good air circulation.
Especially in countries or regions (i.e Turkey, Africa ) where the temperature is higher its really important that the notebook would be cooled properly.

    Hi
I just bought used N95 8 GB from my friend which is locked to a network provider.
My friend took it to shop to unlock service provider (he didn't realise that service provider does it for free), now I tried to test income call vibration but it seems to me it does not work , I tried under Tool > Profile > Create new profile (vibrating on) ,,,,but still there is no vibration when I receive call!!!
I tried "Factory Settings" for the mobile but still same problem
Would unlock be the reason for that (I don't know if vibration was working before unlock) ?
Any other suggestion how to test that ?

  • After update N95 8gb i got big problems.

I make a backup of all but not the 8gb-memory, and restured all after upate, and everyting seems to work fine.
First problem; i see now i have no 3g 3 (no connection) competely dead, i can not use the phone to communicate.
Strange everything work fine after update yesterday and this morning, something happen when it was in the locker at work.
And now i can't use Maploader, it say i have no memorycard, i understand that problem, i delete the whole Cities-folder this morning, because i dont need Nokia GPS-program Wayfinder anymoore, i choose Nav4all instead, i try the maploader only to for testing, i don't want to download any maps.
I test maploader now only bacause my phone is completely dead in communication, try to find out why.
I check in Nokia Nseries PC Suit everything on PC & mobil are the latest update.
I have another mobile SE M600i with 3g 3-cashcard, i by that cashcard only to enable the phone to start, not for communication, that mobile have full 3g (and probably work fine).
Was it the thing that i delete the Cities-map, no it can't be, because i use the N95 8gb and it work fine after that.
after work i even have a missed call on that mobile, but i can't call back, it's dead in communication now.
    Strange things happens now.

Is your phone in another language? You should normally see 2 or 3 options.
    1. Dual Mode
    2. UMTS
    3. GSM
Maybe you could try reseting the phone if nothing else works.
Always remember to backup your phone before performing resets as your data may be lost.
    Try these
*#7780# - Restore factory settings - resets all the settings to the default
