N95 stuck on 21.0.0.16

Hi
My N95 is still stuck on 21.0.0.16. When will the 30.x.x.x firmware be released for danish operator TDC - the phone has product code. 0548107 ?
Have contated the operator but they blame NOKIA for the slow release of new firmware....
Regards
Kim

The only place you can aim pressure is on your operator since they are ultimately responsible for providing the update.
There is a little-known procedure for getting the phone officially debranded.
First of all you have to obtain the restriction code in order to lift the SIM lock. That's relatively easy. A phone call to the operator and a small charge (sometimes it's free) and you're there.
Secondly, you have to obtain written permission from the network operator to remove their branded firmware and install generic Nokia software in its place. This step, unfortunately, is close to impossible, especially if you are still within the initial contract period.
If by some miracle you do succeed in getting written permission from the operator, you take the unlocked phone and that written permission along to a Nokia Care Point. They will change the product code, install the generic software and print out a new product identification for your battery compartment.
Modifying the product code yourself in order to be able to install the latest firmware will void your warranty.

  • N95 multimedia key stuck?

Hello, I recently purchased a 2nd hand N95 8GB. At first it seemed to work quite finely however after a day or two the multimedia key (that useless key located to the left of directional keys) started playing up by just randomly pressing itself. Most of the time it works normally and then completely at random it will start playing up, entering my music folder and playing songs. I've tried updating to the latest firmware, restoring it to factory setting and erasing everything off of it but to no avail. The key itself isn't physically stuck in any way. I think the phone was originally locked to a network, but it was then unlocked and had Nokia's firmware installed on it. If someone could help get this fixed I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

It's a hardware issue, most likely a failed or damaged (drop/shock/moisture) component.
Take it to a nokia care point for inspection.

  • N95 USB id not recognized if behind two levels usb...

    Hi,
I spent a lot of hour, to reconnect my N95 via USB, because, explanation at the end, it seems impossible to connect the phone is there is a HUB between the N95 and the computer (else than the native buitin-the-computer).
Before everything was installed since two years. By accident equipement bluetooth have been destroyed and Windowd XP SP3 installation should have to be redone.
Even I many people that I am a professionnal in informatics, expert in some subjects, I have been lost. I pass on erratics ways, and lost hours to go to the diagnostic : mine :
The USB driver is unable to recognize a N95 (always set to the right USB connection PC-Suite or OBVI)  if it is connected on a second level USB Hub.
as I have only three USB main ports I use two USB (USB2 and USB ... ) on my portable (DELL Latitude D800 and XP SP3)
During installation of PC-Suite or OVI, the soft see the "new usb device", sometimes says 'N95 master...." but never reaches to end the installation : what happends :
    - the windows USB detection sees too at the same time (behind the HUB) the new USB device and propose to install it automatically, while PC-suite says "installing" (what ?).
    then :
If you don't make anything this can spend as long siecles you want.
If you say OK to windows : it answers "impossible to install" and later PC-suite say "you have problems with your connection". If you disconnect you N95 you can have the "blue screen on <ousbehci.sys at address F76BE41D based at F76B7000 datestamp 433c099a>
If on windows you answer "cancel" it immediately detects "a new device" and so on... eternally. But it will create for each try an undefined device into the device manager (stopped at 32).
Some times the main N95 is detected and some others are seen but never all the link devices are detected and soft installed you are reconducted to the previous situation.
This as been repeated on clean installations (unistalling part of drivers installed)
If you connect your N95 directly on the first level of HUB it is perfectly installed.
But as my Hub are well alimented and Ucc controlled (7 disks, camera, Micro-cards reader etc...) ir is not a current alimentation problem.
Later when you reconnect your N95 is not detected if it his not connected on the first HUB level (integrated to computer)
So after this bad experience I have one advice to the others users (by security) :
    - never install threw a second level HUB
    - if after a good installation at a reconnect via an HUB, the 'new USB device found' main USB installer panel appears (if you change of connection this can be normal) but fails, which is not normal, connect directly your phone only on a main USB connection of your computer (and clean your device manager - XP SP3)

  • How to set up email access on N95 8GB?

    Hi
    I have an N95 8GB.
I have recently added a data bolt on for accessing work email from my phone and would like to receive a text/message when I receive a new email.
Problem is I can't find any information on how to set this up.
    This link looked perfect:
    http://www.knowyourmobile.com/nokia/nokian95/nokian95internet/2533/setting_up_email_on_the_nokia_n95...
but  following it through on my phone doesn't come up with the same options etc.
So far I have gone to 'messaging', selected 'change me', then - Options - Email Settings - Connection Settings - Incoming e-mail.
    Here I am stuck.
Is my username my email address?
Is my password my email account password?
What is my incoming mail server?
What is my access point in use?
What setting should security ports be on?
The settings also say that I cannot have email notifications and email retrieval together. What does this mean?
I would really appreciate it if anyone out there can help.
    Thank you

Hi, I'm a newbie at this, so pls be patient with my terminology...  I want to install 2 or 3 of these cameras in my mother's home, and I will have AT&T DSL service (one dynamic IP address) there with only a modem/wireless router.  I want to access the cameras from my laptop or from my Blackberry Tour when I am traveling.  Also want to allow access for my other relatives.  I do not have another home computer to serve as a WHS, and my laptop is obviously not connected to the internet all of the time.  Can I use the DDNS setup with DynDNS to provide access?  The instructions that I read seemed to imply that I needed a WHS in order to forward ports, etc.  Thanks in advance for your help.. • What are the chances of an N95 Classic Firmware Up...

    Guys,
Do you think Nokia will continue to support the N95 now that the 8gb version is out? I'm stuck with the phone based on contract and I'm hoping that at least we'll get a hot new firmware.
What are the chances that they'll release a significantly updated firmware that possibly will free more memory or add that dynamic memory handling of the new software so this thing can be a reliable Ngage gaming device?

one can be optimistic, and one can be realistic. One can observe the history of Nokia support and draw a conclusion and that would not be an optimistic conclusion. There are plenty of people who have contracts for phones that got a single upgrade if they were lucky. N95 has already had more than that (3?) with the last one dated 5 months ago. The cell phones that get updated are usually not 6 months between updates so every day that passes is like a nail in the coffin. So Nokia has moved on to N95 8GB. Contract has nothing to do with getting Nokia to upgrade firmware however badly it may be needed, contract is about making money for the phone company. The N95 8GB can just as well be called an N95 "i" version, they just didn't name it that. that means N95 "Classic" very likely "left in the dust" as a previous post articulately stated. When I say the I think the chance is zero, it is based on Nokia support history which is woeful

  • N95 overheating????

i am having trouble with my n95 v21.0.016 whenever i use an application which is processer heavy (music player , camera but mainly the web browser on sites that are pic heavy)the phone crashes and tries to re-boot, it used to do it first time or i'd take the battery out and restart it that way, but now it has trouble re booting when warm it crashes the screen goes black then goes to the nokia white start up screen then goes black (but the keypad is lit up)or it goes black the goes to the white screen and sticks or it just keeps going white to black continuously the only way i can get the phone to reboot when it's like this is to stick it in the fridge!!! then after a few minutes it starts first time

My N95 is overheating on warm days (say over 26C) it shows the standard black screen or white Nokia screen & cannot be switched off. It will not re-start until phone is cooled down via car A/C vent etc & battery re-installed. Nokia Service Centre Clayton has looked at it 3 times, 1st time they do the usual **bleep** by re-installing software **bleep** they do (that is one of the standard ones) & the 2nd & 3rd visits found nothing wrong. It simply does not like warm days unlike my N90 or my brothers E55 & N70. The only thing I figure is maybe the 2gb sandisk is stuffed & have put the standard Nokia 1gb suplied with phone to test on next warm day. Other than that, it is only 11 months old under current Optus contract & Optus will not replace it until Nokia care centre has seen it 3 times & state there is a problem with it. Basically it is a fine phone to use but what's the point when it does not run on a warm day & it is very very interesting when they simply do not list a temperature range in the whole manual & that gets them away from admitting it has temperature issues. I'm only trying to use the non genuine sandisk micro SD as an excuse, just putting the one back in that Nokia supplied with the phone just for the hell of it, but basically until I can get nokia to say it has a problem I am simply stuck with the damn thing.

  • Problems updating N95 firmware - v11 to v20 (vodaf...

    Hi,
I have N95 on Vodafone UK, currently running software version 11.0.0.026. and a windows vista sp1 laptop.
I often use software updater to check if any new versions for my n95. To my delight, version 20 has just been released for my region! So I tried to run the update.
It downloaded from the net ok, then started the install on the phone.
But then, I got an error message saying a Nokia element has stopped responding.
The software updater still looks as if its running ok tho, except the progress bar is stuck on about 5% and estimated time remains on 15 minutes. I even left it for about 40 minutes, but still no change.
I tried a couple of times but with same result.
Luckily, once unplugged and battery removed and replaced, the phone started up as normal.
Any ideas why it keeps crashing, or a way to fix it?
    Thanks,
    Ed

I had exactly the same problem as well.
The first time it happened, I assumed I'd 'bricked' my phone but it seemed to come back to life so I thought great.
The second time I attempted the upgrade, the same thing happened but instead of disconnecting. I closed down the updater using task manager then ran it again.... it immediately detected the phone then asked me if i wanted to re-install the software. I said yes and it worked fine.
It is a strange bug though. I am glad it's not just me it happened too.

i dont have a solution, but i have a path for you to follow. this is not a simple fix, but rather a place to look for ways to fix it. it is similar in nature to modifying an iSync plugin in order to make iSync work (back before nokia did this for you)
    1. right-click (or ctrl-click) the Nokia Multimedia Transfer.app package (the application icon itself)
    2. choose 'Show Contents'
    3. Contents->Resources->Profiles
    4. open up the file n95.profile in 'Property List Editor'
note: i think this came with the developer tools? i'm sure you can find it somewhere, it's an apple app
in my version of this file i see Root->profiles->0->profileName = n95_v1
in your shoes i'd try modifying this file. you likely can create an copy of Root->profiles->0 and call it Root->profiles->1
then just change the version to n95_v2 or v3 or whatever.
you may have to change more in this file, or more files. i dont have an n95_v2 or v3 to play with.
do this and succeed, and you'll have made quite a few ppl happy, including yourself
    good luck and happy hacking!
    N95-1 ---> N97-NAM ---> N900 ---> E7-00 + N900 (I use them both)

I've been having this problem for some time now. There are YouTube videos for N95 in the Videocenter but for some reason real can't play them, they just stuck on the loading screen. I'm using WLAN for Videocenter and Real.

    Dual LED? Whatever for? Zenon...
    ======================
    kevineu ,
    yes, it is Dual LED.
As xenon has been proven its weakness to assume much more battery power and to flash lights "much" the makers (specially the multimedia phone makers)are thinkin' of puttin' a Dual LED in high-end multimedia phones.
Xenon does give us much more clearer and brighter image than a single LED flash but when the subject is close it just exceeds the required light it should give, on the other hand, a single LED is proven worse in all conditions except semi-light/night conditions while a Dual LED could give it a more success.
And, now to the fact, as y' know nokia has unleashed the N95 then , even if they think about a new varient of N95 such as Black edition/music edition or N95i their possibility will be stuck to that LED or to give a Dual LED. For Xenon, I think they will apply it to another new model of convergence. As for a new edition of N95 it will be sufficient to meet the battle against the battery against a dual LED if it is possible.
    Thanks.

  • N95 v30 firmware... apparently?

I own an N95-1. I know this because the wite label under the battery tells me so.
It has become widespread knowledge over the internet that there exists an update from my phone's current v21.0.016 firmware to v30.0.015, which I would like to do, having seen the changelog.
However, when I check on the Nokia Europe website, or through NSU, it tells me my phone is up to date with what it's running now. It took me a long while to realise that the product code on my N-95 is different to all the screenshots I have seen evidencing the firmware update.
Other people seem to have been able to update their N95-1s to the newest firmware versions, and it's starting to irritate me now. Am I honestly stuck with this?

  • N95 - Lost "New Paired Device" functionality

    Hi,
I have a rather troublesome issue as I can no longer pair simple devices that do not initiate auto-discovery of nearby devices, such as Bluetooth wireless headsets.
Issue started this morning when a previously paired (and working fine...) SE-HBH PV705 bluetooth headset was turned on, which caused my N95 to crash and reset.
From this point on, (since I also deleted the bluetooth entry thinking it was better to re-establish a fresh pairing) I am no longer able to search for any Bluetooth devices set in discovery mode (the headset has been reset and is in discoverable mode).
Tested with my PDA and laptop (both set to discoverable mode) and same results - N95 just DOES NOT initiate a search at all.
However, if I were to use the PDA or Laptop to search for N95, I am able to see & pair with it.
Just the other way round, N95 initiated, no longer works.
Quite helpless as to what to do next since the Factory reset function in N95 is a soft one and does not perform a hard reset like some devices.
    Flash the phone, I guess?
Anyone with anything similar or have a workaround - please suggest
    ZDM

I am, as of today, at the brink of despair, with yet another day of uncertainty over the outcome of my repairs.
Thus I am writing this "open letter" to get this item of my chest and essentialy move on.. I am definitely closing this chapter with Nokia, guys. Adios.
    =========================
    Open Letter to Nokia CARE
I bought the N95 on the 3rd of April, 2007. On the 9th of April, 2007, the phone was submitted to Nokia Care for non-functioning Bluetooth issue
The phone was used for 6 days, and as of today 16th April, 2007 - has been in the repair workshop for 8 days. In other words, it has been under repair longer than I have had the privilege of using, AND COUNTING
To date, I have no visibility or reassurance that my brand new phone is coming to me any time soon. [still stuck in HQ, not sure if on transit back to STC or not...]
I have paid the full retail price of S$ 1'288 for a defective phone and in effect, I am subsidizing Nokia's Beta testing program
My perception of Nokia product is declining by the day
I do not see any connection AT ALL between what I recently owned and are currently undergoing, and of the vision described on the Nokia Corporate website: "Delivering Great Experiences to our customers by creating products & solutions that work seamlessly and are appealing"
If Nokia really embraces the above vision, it would have obviously replaced my phone by now with a new fully functioning one
Moreover, the website also professes to adhere to a strong "Quality is at the heart of Nokia's brand promise, very human technology" - I do not see that quality and are not reassured of that quality by an obviously defective handset which remains, to this day, under repair but with little or no signs of recovery plans to salvage a customers sinking perception
Courtesy and Lip Service - is not what I need from Nokia Careline, which I must admit they do very well- I need answers and the Care Agents are not empowered to give me that answer or to provide an alternative solution.
End of the day, how am I supposed to "fall in love" with this product?, when all I am getting at this stage are doubts and mounting concern of my new (yet intangible) purchase.

Firstly the latest version of PC suite is 6.86. You should get and install it.
Now try restoring again except this time unselect all other components except one. Restore each and every component of the restore one by one this way. You wil probably find that one of the components is bad and fails to restore and is the cause of your previous complete restore failing. At least now you would have restored everything else apart from that bad component.
