N96 screen brightness decreasing randomly!!!

I got a new N96 .When I got into the menu the screen appears bright then slowly the brightness is decreasing
And when I get into the setting of the screen there seems 4 part for the brightness setting but the most darkne 2 ones seems at the same level of brightness
Please help me is there any update that prevent and fix this problem.Or does anyone have the same problem?
Thanxxxx

Any luck with resolving this blackout problem?
Just started with my early 2008 macbook, 10.6.8 (which doesn't have the "Automatically adjust brightness" function, darn). Don't know if this has anything to do with setting computer and display to "never" sleep two weeks ago. I can get screen brightness back if I play around with pressing the dim button all the way down and then pressing the brighten button. The brightness will eventually increase with the command. Brightness lasts for varying lengths of time, from a few seconds to ~2 minutes.

  • Does the screen brightness decrease the overall life?

    I have a MBP Unibody and a LED Cinema Display... I am just wondering if having both set to maximum brightness will decrease the lifetime of the hardware?

    If you do a Google search on LED Display technology, you'll find that the advantage over a standard lighted LCD displays is that light output DOES NOT degrade over time. Meaning running your display at FULL brightness will not shorten it's life or make the display 'dim' over time. Having an LED display ON, regardless of brightness will shorten it's life, but LEDs last 5 to 10x longer than the standard CF lights normally used.
    Unless you plan on having it on 24x7 ALL the time, an LED backlight will outlast the useful life of the display you're using. Set it to automatically go to sleep when you're not using it and don't worry about about how high the brightness is. It will be just as bright 5 years from now as the day you bought it.

  • Screen brightness fluctuates despite adaptive setting being disabled

    Hey everybody.
    I'm on a 2012 13" MacBook Pro running Windows 8. I've been noticing my screen brightness changing randomly in the middle of all sorts of tasks. It's always a very sudden jump to a brighter setting--never dimmer. Everything's turned up all the way and I've followed the internet's instructions to disable all the adaptive settings that change the brightness. Still happening, so I'm suddenly concerned it might be a hardware issue. Any insights?
    Thanks!

    That's good news.
    The new account is using information from a brand new Preferences file which is unaffected by whatever made yours misbehave.
    Do this: Go to the Finder and select Go to folder like so:
    then type library like so:
    oops, posting too fast... stand by while I edit this...
    As I was saying...
    Click Go, then find the folder called Preferences and open it. Then find the files called
    com.apple.universalaccess.plist, and
    com.apple.systemsound.plist
    and drag them both to the Trash.
    Log out.
    Log in again and open System Preferences > Universal Access. Configure all four tabs the way you want, then close System Preferences.
    Does that fix things?

  • How to decrease screen brightness below the minimum ?

    I have windows 7 as bootcamp. I can decrease the screen brightness to the minimum but that itself is too bright to my eyes. But the minimum setting when i use mac is less brighter...
    So is there a way i can decrease the brightness below the minimum in bootcamp ?
    Thanks

    Hi Gopa,
    I have the same problem with all my Macs under Windows 7.
    I guess the Windows drivers are unsuitable!!
    Did you find a solution in the meantime?
    Thanks,

  • T420s - screen brightness increases and decreases

    Hi,
    I have noticed on my T420s that screen changes screen brightness depending on the picture on the screen.
    For example:
    - I look at some site with dark background and few grey letters
    when I switch screen to my outlook or for example firefox with this forum that has white background at first few minutes white is gray and then it gradually becomes whiter and whiter until after about 2 seconds it settles.
    I thought at first my eyes have issue, but it is definetly behaviour of my laptop.
    Anyone with the same issue? Can this be fixed by some software/power manager tweak?
    Solved!

    Yes, I run it on battery and with Intel HD
    It is display power saving thing - thank you

  • Random changes in screen brightness every few minutes (while working)

    I am beginning to become unhappy with my new Thinkpad Twist. The laptop was just delivered and no changes to the setup were made.
    The screen brightness changes while I use the device in an unpredictable way which is just annoying to me.
    I prefer to work with full screen brightness and disabled the energy saving settings that would dim the screen after some minutes of inactivity. Still the screen just dims from time to time (also while I a am working) and also changes back to full brightness in a similarly unpredictable way. Those changes in brightness might take some minutes between them...
    Do you have any ideas what software settings I should consider?
    Also, the laptop appears to have an ambient light sensor. Could those changes in screen brightness be related to this sensor? FYI: Light conditions remained the same, no turning on or off the lights. Covering the position of the sensor did not induce any reaction.
    Any ideas?

    Took me a while to find this but I believe this is the order of menus, links and drop downs to get to this feature.

  • Screen brightness problem iphone 5 ios 6.1.4

    The screen will quasi-randomly go to low brightness and be barely readable - auto-dim or not.  I can't usually tell what triggered it - it's just not obvious.
    However, I found a repeatable pattern (finally) when using it in a car.  If I plug in the usb in a car (say a ford), and use both google maps and play tunes or podcasts simultaneously, the brightness is guaranteed to dim after approximately 20 minutes, on its own, without intervention.  The auto-brightness switch has no apparent effect on this.
    This is, of course, the most annoying defect, because you're using google maps to watch where the f*@k you're going, and then the lights go out and you're fumbling around with brightness while driving.
    Anybody else observe this problem?

    It's a google maps app setting. I agree, it is highly annoying and I have no idea why they put that setting into the app without the option to change it. I did a 600 mile trip with google maps and the auto screen dimming feature was awful.

  • [FIXED] after upgrade ACPI can no longer change my screen brightness

    EDIT: never mind, it seems to of gone away now...i have no idea what happened, it stopped working randomly then started working just as randomly.....whatever...
    Just yesterday i was using my laptop with arch linux with the brightness turned all the way down, as of course it saves battery
    but now i turn it on today and the screen is at maximum brightness, and every time i try to change it it just says (in kernel.log) :
    Sep  8 10:28:46 Polygon kernel: ACPI: Failed to switch the brightness
    Sep  8 10:28:46 Polygon kernel: ACPI: Failed to switch the brightness
    so...what got upgraded that broke this? does anyone else have this problem?
    here is the past few days of my pacman.log: (it has some entries for kernel-my, a custom compiled kernel, but i get no screen brightness control on my custom compiled kernel, or the default arch one)

    Do you happen to know what package broke this? I had this issue a couple weeks ago, and just recently it reappeared.

  • Re: Satellite L855 and Windows 8 - can not adjust screen brightness

    Hi everyone !
    I installed Windows 8 on my Satellite L855 and it is running pretty well except that I can no more adjust screen brightness !!! I updated all the drivers for Win 8 but it didn't resolve the issue.
    Hope someone can help me !! Thanks !!

    Hi
    Did you install the VAP (value added package) provided with Toshiba Win 8 upgrade assistant?
    Its necessary and the brightness can be controlled pressing F button
    F2 Decreases screen brightness
    F3 Increases screen brightness

  • Screen Brightness won't change no matter what I do

    Hello guys:
    For the time I've been using ArchLinux my screen brightness buttons don't work.  Also power options for adjusting screen brightness do nothing, so you see why I have a problem, my screen eats the laptop's battery... I've also tried adjusting the values of /proc/acpi/video/GFX0/DD02/brightness, but saw no effect.  I'm using an Acer Aspire 5740-5513, which has an intel core i3 using Intel Graphics Media Accelerator HD

    Hey guys, the following script I wrote might be useful for increasing/decreasing and/or setting brightness to min/max using 'xbacklight' so you can bind it to some of your key combination. For example i have FN+f2 set to '/path/to/script down' to decrease '/path/to/script up' to increase etc ...
    Respect
    #!/bin/bash
    if [ $# -ne 1 ]
    then
    exit 1
    elif [ $1 == "down" ]
    then
    xbacklight - 10
    elif [ $1 == "up" ]
    then
    xbacklight + 10
    elif [ $1 == "max" ]
    then
    xbacklight = 100
    elif [ $1 == "min" ]
    then
    xbacklight = 10

  • Satellite P500 - Can't increase screen brightness

    I have a new Satellite P500.
    The problem I have is if I have the power switched off for several hours I lose the ability to increase the brightness of the screen. I can get the brightness increase at level 4 and when I increase to level 8 the brightness decrease. If I go down the screen goes black. The only solution I have found is to power down, take out the battery put it back in and power up.
    Help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi
    I would recommend to recover the notebook
    This would allow you to reinstall the OS and to set the notebook to the factory settigns.
    I think the issue might be related only to software problem maybe something wrong with installed VAP or other tools however its necessary to known if this will happen using Toshiba preinstalled OS
    Dont install any 3rd party software before testing this display brightness FN+F6 and F7 key combination.

  • Screen Brightness controls don't work in Lion. (Macbook pro 5,1 (Late 2008))

    Screen brightness no longer adjustable; all other function keys work.
    Help !

    You seem to have a situation similar to mine.  If I understand correct, your display works perfectly when the brightness buttons work, but when the brightness buttons do not work, your screen dims from, say 100% to maybe 50%, and then back again... all on its own and at random intervals?
    That's what is happening to me, is that happening to you too?  Just wondering if you found a fix for this since your post.
