Nano 4G music install?

My library on ITunes has way more music than the Nano will take, So I have made a couple of play list and uploaded the music to the Ipod. How do I get it set up for automatic updates on selected play list? The menu appears to allow the settings to be changed for this, but I can't seem to get it activated. When I try to switch off the manual setting, I get a message that tells me it will basically wipe out my music currently on the Ipod and randomly select songs from the Library to put back in. Is there a way to change this so it only updates from the playlist of my choise, or will it always want to use the main Library?

Purchased iTunes Music is encoded AAC at 128 kbps bit rate.
The encoding options when importing music from a CD are included under the iTunes import options. You can import songs from a CD as MP3 files selecting your chosen bit rate - the higher the bit rate, the more disc space an imported song will take up. Generally, imported MP3 files at 128 kbps bit rate will take up more disc space than AAC at the same bit rate. You can import music from a CD encoded AAC at 128 kbps bit rate to match purchased iTunes Music.
To change this for songs already imported from a CD, you should delete the songs from within iTunes and re-import the music from the CD at the chosen settings. You can change existing music already imported at a different setting (trans-coding) but you'll lose even more music quality in the process.

  • 3g Nano -- No Music During Workout?

So, I just got a new Nano and the Nike stuff. I used it for the first time this morning and while all the running tracking stuff worked just fine (kept my pace, announced the mileage in my headphones, etc.), it wouldn't play any music through. It acts like it's playing the songs (gives the song/artist listing in the right place on screen), but the only audio I get is the mileage announcer. The Nano plays music just fine otherwise. Anyone have any thoughts?

Good news! On my run this morning, I systematically went through the only options I could think of...
    1. Changed Playlists -- no effect
    2. Changed Voice Announcer from Female to Male -- no effect
    3. Changed Playlist again after changing Announcer -- success!
Then I even changed the Announcer back to Female and it still worked. Hopefully this is a one-time thing and I won't have to do it every time I run (if I remember, I'll update this thread with that finding), but regardless, it seems to have worked.
This doesn't address how the new armband won't accommodate the sensor you have to plug into bottom of the Nano, but that's another thread entirely

  • Nano plays music out loud even when ear buds are plugged in?

Nano plays music out loud even when ear buds are plugged in? its like the external speaker is always on, i cannot figure out how to turn it off....HELP SOMEONE

You don't have to shout - typing in caps.
The earphones must be pushed very hard into the iPod. So hard, that the white part of the plug must touch the iPod in order for the external speakers to turn off. You will hear a click.

If you do a forum search, you will find this same solution. If it does not work, you will need to take your iPod to an apple store or call the Apple iPod tech support if still under warranty or you have Apple Care.

  • Zen nano plus music transfer er

i started using my new nano plus gb and installed all the required the programs from the cd it came with. i used the creative media source organizer and the nano plus media explorer thing. everything worked fine for my music files with the smart fit too untill it reached about 579 mb. after 579 mb, it was stuck and wouldn't let me add any more songs. i don't know what's wrong. everything read as an error. someone please help.

    thy,
There is a limit on how many files you can place in the root folder of a memory unit (player) like this, it's down to the file system. Try creating some folders and placing the songs in there instead.

  • Ipod nano deleting music problem

i bought an ipod nano from disc replay for my 7 yr old stepson for christmas and i cant figure out how to delete the previous owners songs off of it and to add our own?

    Hey there JTharp2013,
It sounds like the iPod nano has the previous owners music, and you would like to sync your music to it. You should be able to reset the device back to factory defaults, then use your library to sync your music over with your iTunes library.

    How to restore iPod
Verify that you have an active Internet connection, because you may need to download new versions of the iTunes and iPod Software.
Download and install the latest version of iTunes if necessary.
Open iTunes. Connect your iPod to your computer using the USB or FireWire cable that came with your iPod.
After a few moments, your iPod will appear in the Source panel in iTunes.
Select your iPod in the Source panel. You will see information about your iPod appear in the Summary tab of the main iTunes window.
    Click Restore.
If you are using a Mac, you will be asked to enter an administrator’s name and password.
A progress bar will appear on the computer screen, indicating that stage one of the restore process has begun. When this stage is done, iTunes will present one of two messages with instructions specific to the iPod model you are restoring.
Disconnect iPod and connect it to iPod Power Adapter (typically applies to older iPod models).
Leave iPod connected to computer to complete restore (typically applies newer iPod models).
During stage two of the restore process, the iPod displays an Apple logo as well as a progress bar at the bottom of the display. It is critical that the iPod remain connected to the computer or iPod power adapter during this stage.
Note: The progress bar may be difficult to see, because the backlight on the iPod display may be off.
After stage two of the restore process is complete, the iTunes Setup Assistant window will appear. It will ask you to name your iPod and choose your syncing preferences, as it did when you connected your iPod for the first time.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Take care,
    Sterling

  • Issue with nano and music video playlist

Hello, I have two ipods, a video and a nano. I have a playlist for music videos for the video ipod. To keep them separate I checked "manually manage musc" and checked "sync music" and "selected playlist. I've checked all the playlist, except music video. Under my music, not all the songs in my library show up unless I don't have "manually manage music" checked. What should I do to have certain playlists show up and have all my songs in my library show up? Thanks in advance.

Also, the music videos show up on my summary. How do I get those off as well?

  • Itunes does not recognize my 6th generation ipod nano.  I installed, unintalled the progam...can't get it to work. any suggestions?

can't get my itunes to recognize my 6th generation nano.  I have installed/uninstalled.  Restarted and I can't get it to work.  Any suggestions?

    1. Update iTunes to the latest version. Plug in your iPod. If iTunes still can't recognize it, then in iTunes in the top left corner click help> run diagnostics. On the box that comes up, check the last two things. Click next and it should identify your iPod.
    2. Click on your windows start menu. Type in "services". Click on it and when it pops up, on the bottom of it click on "standard". Now Scroll down to find "Apple Mobile Device" Right click it when you see it and click on "Start". When it has started, close iTunes and replug in your iPod and it should show up.
    3. Check the USB cable
4 Verify that Apple Mobile Device Support is installed
    5. Restart the Apple Mobile Device Service and verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed.
    6. If you just want to add some photos, songs and movies from computer to your devices, you can use an iTunes alternative to do the job
    7. Check for third-party software conflicts.

  • Nano 4g music capacity

Just got the 4G ipod nano and love it - but the estimated 1,000 song capacity is WAY off. I can only get 300-400 songs max. I've talked to customer service, done an update, download, reset, etc., but it didn't seem to change anything. Any advice!?!?!?

  • 2ng Gen Nano - Honda Music Link Question (new Firmware)

I've got an 8gb Nano with firmware 1.0.2 which works just fine in my 2006 Pilot with the Honda Music Link. Does anyone know if the latest firmware, 1.1.2 works with it as well? I believe that 1.1.1 did not work with the Link.

Nobody is being shy...I really think that nobody in these forums knows.
I would contact Honda. They should be able to tell you.

  • Can I-pod Nanos show music videos?

Hey! Was just wondering whether or not 2nd Gen I-pod Nanos can show music videos, because I bought two that are not showing up on the list- and there is a category on the i-pod that says 'Music Videos'.

The iPod nano does not support video. The processor is not strong enough, along with other things.
Also, do not try iPod Linux, even though you might hear that its awesome.
    1. Even iPod Linux does not support iPod nano downloads.
    2. Voids any Warranty you have on your iPod.
    3. Not unusual for it to leave your iPod as a large domino, and with no warranty, you're out of luck.
    4. Is it really worth it to watch video on a 1.5 inch screen?
    5. Video takes up a lot of space, and iPod nanos don't have much to spare.
    I hope this helps!
