NCHAR issue with oracle database using JDBC adapter

Hi,
We have a requirement to develop an XI interface from FTP server(File adapter) to oracle database using JDBC adapter. In the oracle database table few fields are of type NCHAR/NVARCHAR. when we try to insert the character(A,B,c..) values into oracle table fields of type NCHAR/NVARCHAR, we are getting the following error message in the JDBC adapter audit log. IF we pass the numeric value to the same field, then we are able to insert the records successfully.
Unable to execute statement for table or stored procedure. 'IPCSDD_DOWNLOAD_PROCESS' (Structure 'StatementName1') due to java.sql.SQLException: ORA-00904: "P": invalid identifier

Mapping is part of an ESB service
Adaptor is a technology adapted to ESB framework to support specific protocol.
ESB accomplish ESB duties such as transformation, translation, routing. Routing use a protocol accepted by the consumer. In a JDBC consumer it is JDBC protocol and hence it a JDBC adaptor.
There is clear separation on responsibilities among business system and ESB. ESB do not participate in business decision or try to get into business system data layer.
So who ever are asking people to check duplicate check as part of mapping (an ESB service) may not understand integration practice.
Please use an adaptor module which will execute the duplicate check with business system in a plug and play approach and separate that from ESB service so that people can build integration using AGILE approach.

Inserting Multiple Images into oracle database using JDBC

I wanted to insert multiple images into database using JDBC by reading it from the file... and i am passing photos.txt(my text file) as an input parameter... I have inserted all the values into the database except for the image part... this is my content of photos.txt file and i have copied all the images into the folder

As i am able to enter one image file by above code in1.jpg in to the oracle database.... but i am not able to insert all the image file in to the database.....do tell me what should i do.... and can you give me the example on the basis of the above code of mine...

Empty CLOB field value from Oracle database using JDBC Sender

Hi All,
I am selecting a CLOB field from Oracle database table using JDBC Sender adapter and getting error "NullPointerException"
Seen SAP note 1283089 but its not applicable for my support pack PI 7.0 SP 12 and client dont want to upgrdate SP 17 right now.
I tried rpad(1,0)Column_Name funciton in JDBC select query but it selcting blank value for every record even those having some value for this CLOB field so not useful
Could anybody suggest possible way? client dont want to change anything at database side.

What is the Oracle driver version installed? You might need to install 10.x driver if not already using it.

Access an Oracle DB using JDBC adapter

Hi, I'm trying to make an simple test for checking if the connection between XI and Oracle DB is working fine and following the weblog nr. 2018 ( Save Time with generalized JDBC datatypes ) i've made my structures in order to achived that. I've declared the field action as SELECT than the table name ... and in the IB set the needed configurations. So when i exec my interface i've got the black/white flag bur if i look at the adapter engine i see that the JDBC adapter is achieved but i got 2 errors " No 'action' attribute found in XML document('action' attribute missing or wrong XML structure) and Exception caught by adapter framework: error processing request in sax parser: No 'action' attribute found in XML document('action' attribute missing or wrong XML structure). This is my DT and in MM i fill field action with constant value(SELECT/INSERT), field table with the name of the corresponding DB table, fields access/key with constant value(empty). At this moment, I got the following error Exception caught by adapter framework: Error processing request in sax parser: Error when executing statement for table/stored proc. 'v01_sap_xi' (structure 'Statement'): java.sql.SQLException: FATAL ERROR: Column 'cod' does not exist in table 'v01_sap_xi'; according with the people responsible for the DB this column named cod does really exist !! Installing issues with Oracle Database 11g R1 on Red Hat Linux

I am installing Oracle Database 11g on Red Hat Linux.
Version of the OS:Linux 2.6.9-5.ELsmp #1 SMP Wed Jan 5 19:30:39 EST 2005 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
I have installed XManager on my PC to access the runtime installer in Graphical mode.
But once i click the installer file from Xmanager, it asks if the user wants to run it in terminal or simply run.
I selected the run in terminal and it starts the terminal where the initial pre-requisite checks are done i.e swap memory,temp and display.
The screen disappers and the graphical OUI never turns up...
Any pointer would be helpful.

1. logon to the linux using root and issue the following command - xhost+
2. Open xterm in the Xmanager and logon to the linux using oracle user.
3. in the installation directory issue ./runInstaller.

Hi,
I assume you already have a JDBC driver for either FoxPro or DBase. If not, use the JDBC-ODBC bridge and the ODBC driver that comes with Window$.
When you issue a "Create TABLE" command the driver will automatically create a .dbf file and then you can export data to it.

Hi,
have you deployed the JDBC driver for your DB2 database in your XI system........if not, then ask your basis guys to find the weblog to deploy the JDBC driver in XI system and then deploy your DB2 database driver in your JDBC driver in XI system............
then again execute your scenario.

It mentions all the settings you'll need to make e.g. the connection URL as posted above.
And it also lists how an XML file looks like that contains the query results according to the SQL Select statement in the adapter.

So you have to create a datatype, message type and message interface to match this structure (of course you'll need to substitute column-name1 etc. with the column names in your select statement).

To access any database fromm XI, using the JDBC adapter, the corresponding drivers have to be installed on the XI server.
Just check this note 831162.

Issue of inserting greek characters into Oracle database using ICAN505

Hi All,
We are currently facing an issue of inserting greek characters into Oracle database using ICAN505.
We receive a file containing greek characters.The values from the file should be inserted into the database.We are reading the file using file OTD with default encoding.
The file can contain english characters too other than greek characters.
The database NLS_CHARACTERSET is AL32UTF8.
When I insert using an insert statement directly ,the values get inserted properly into the DB table.
Inserting the same values using code results in improper characters getting inserted into the table in the database.
Please help....

Oracle Discoverer 4i (portal db - oracle 8i) connectivity issue with 11g database

Hi All
We have oracle discoverer 4i with portal db (oracle 8i).
We connect to the external databases using db links in the portal db and the reports will use the db link to retrieve the data from views in the external databases.
External databases we were connecting is oracle 10g version and now we have upgraded these databases to 11g version.
Now i have a created a new db link to this 11g database and i have created a new EUL in portal to connect to this 11g database.
But when i try to create a report using the discoverer from this new EUL after login to the discoverer we get a "cannot connect to database" error.
We have all the necesscary privilege to the user and the new database link works perfectly fine. (when we try to query directly using SQL plus from portal database using this db link the query works perfectly fine).
Im not sure if this is a compatibility issue in connecting from oracle disc 4i to a 11g database.
Can any one advise if this is the case and if there is any workaround for this?

Are you saying you are having issues with a database link between 8i and 11g (pl post exact versions to 4 digits) ? If so, it should be expected as database links between these two versions are not supported. Is there a reason you cannot upgrade the portal database to at least 10gR2 ?
