Need help setting up remote access please

I have a new server 2012 network with a server built specifically for remote access
I need to set up simple remote access to LAN pc's, published apps, and to manage domain remotely
this is only a test setup and I want some security but first want teh basics setup then I can lock down
I ran the wizards and believe most things are done correctly when I added the roles, and firewall is allowing access to that server.
when I try to connect from external I get the remote server's default IIS web page, no remote access options
is there a simple checklist to test services internally and test the web page access internally?
I am not sure what information you may need so please ask for any details that will be helpful
Remote Gateway, licensing, web access and certificates have all been configured using the wizards
David Sheetz MCP

Hi David,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
Initially to remote access the application through RD Web we need to use https://servername/rdweb. Also please check the following setting.
In IIS: IIS Sites --> Default --> RDWeb --> Pages --> Application Settings --> DefaultTSGateway:
Set that to your RD Gateway access URL.
Then restart IIS.
Your RemoteApps will then be able to find the proper gateway inbound.
When you created your collection bring up its properties and make sure the URL is specified in RD Gateway settings too. This generates the correct settings in the RDP files.
In addition, please checkthis article for information. Also please see whether you
have configured RD RAP and RD CAP properly and try to uncheck the option “Bypass RD Gateway for local address” under deployment properties and verify the result.
Hope it helps!
Thanks.

Just purchased FCE 4. Need to set up my Sony HDR SR11. I've already recorded most of my stuff in HD SP. Can someone Please help me set up?
    thanks

    Thanks for the info.
I updated and did a search in my manual for Log and transfer which didn't go to anything I can figure out. Sorry, I don't have time to read 1152 pages.
Can anyone just tell me how to get this going? There should be a simple set up correct?

  • Need help setting up Remote Desktop Services

This is my first server and I can't get Remote Desktop Services to work. I need to access my Server 2012 machine from my Windows 7 computer. I realize this is probably a trivial task for a server admin of any experience level, but I am utterly confused.
When I try to access https://servername.domainname.local/RdWeb, the webpage is unavailable. When I replace .local with .com, same result. Only when I use https:192.168.1.***/RdWeb it connects.
I log in and click an application. An rdp file is downloaded. I double-click the file. A warning message appears listing the URL of the remote computer (servername.domainname.local) and the gateway server (servername.domainname.com). When I log in from there,
    I get the following message:
"Your computer can't connect to the remote computer because the Remote Desktop Gateway server address in unreachable or incorrect. Type a valid Remote Desktop Gateway server address."
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
The ideal method for managing a server from a client computer is achieved by installing the RSAT tools (remote server administration tools).
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=39296
What these tools do is to actually install Server Manager on your client computer. However, you will need a Windows 8.1 computer to install the tools in the link above. They won't install on Windows 7. Note: The RSAT tools are available for Windows 7 but
you can only manage 2008 R2 and earlier with that version of RSAT. The RSAT tools are sync'd with the release of client and server versions.
RSAT does need a direct connection between the client and the server (as far as I know), so you can't manage your intranet server from the public Internet this way unless the server has a public IP address or - more ideally you have a VPN server set up to
    access your internal network.
As Tim mentions, you can configure routers with 'port forwarding' to connect via RDP from outside your private network to the inside. If you log into the router you should see this option but it does require some understanding of what you are doing.
In this case, you would need to connect to the router's external (public) IP address. You should be careful however enabling access into your private LAN from the outside as this does open you up to some security risks.
Another option for you is to use a 3rd party solution such as logmein or teamviewer although in my opinion these are less than ideal methods.

  • Need help setting up Remote Desktop over internet

    Hi all,
Now that I did additional research, I know that Logmein or Teamviewer would have worked.  Unfortunately, I already purchased 2 copies of ARD at the recommendation of an Apple Genius.
I need to connect to my mom's iMac from my house.  She gets confused at times and I would also like to run her software updates, etc.  I've been reading the boards here but I getting a little confused at what I should do.  Both macs are running Lion and are on Airport Extreme wifi networks (w/ AT&T modem/routers).
    Thanks for the help!!!
    Chris

Did you every get this figured out? This might help... www.youtube.com/watch?v=i2sXG7c4VG4
you might start to run into trouble depending on your modem-router setup. Is your mother's Airport in Bridge mode or is it set up to distribute a range of ips? If its in bridge mode, then you should forward ports in the modem, if the airport is distributing ips, then you should port forward on the airport. Sry, I dont have much experience with ATT... (and all of this is at your mom's side).
The only thing you should have to do on your side is scan for her ip address..
    hope this helps..

  • Setting up remote access for support

Need to set up remote support for my Dad's iMac. He has an airport express connected to an optonline cable modem. I have an airport connected to a charter cable modem.
Both systems are running Mavericks. I have the latest remote access app.
I tried this a year ago and could connect to him when I was on his local network but not when I was at home. Since then everything has been updated. I will be visiting him in a few week and could do any set up on his system.
I read the admin guide but it's still to confusing to me. I am able to set up and connect to computers on my local network ok.
Will ARA be able to do this? Do I need any further software? logmeon, etc?
Any tips on creating a client installer to use when I am there? I will be using his user account.
Do any changes need to be made to the routers to get through them?
Could use some help here. Thanks

Something you should be aware of is the frequency of IP address change at your father's location. Providers of residential broadband services lease an IP address for a certain duration which you have no control over and is purely arbitrary. You may be familiar with these changes?
The point is sometimes these addresses change regularly (4 hours to every few days) and sometimes they stay the same for a longer period of time such as a year or more.
Because of the nature of this change you may find you can remote assist your father one day but not the next. The situation is easily rectified with a simple phonecall to your father. He can tell you what IP address he's using by launching his browser and clicking this link:
    http://myipaddress.com
He gives you his new IP address and you should be able to make a successful connection again.
Be aware IP addresses handed out by ISPs are known as routable. IP addresses handed out by Firewalls/Routers/Gateway devices such as Apple's Airport Express Base Station etc are not routable. Assuming you've not changed anything in the devices they will always be one of these three ranges: 192.168.1.x; 10.x.x.x and 172.16.16.x. You don't use any of these last three group of addresses to make the connection over the public external (internet) network but you do use them when on the same private internal network.

    Teresa,
I think the best way for someone to volunteer to help you would be for them to send you a Private Message (PM) here on the forums. You should see a small envelope in the upper right corner of the screen, when it changes color you will know you have a PM to view.
I would be happy to help, but since I am in North Texas I don't think that is a viable option Sorry....

  • Set up Remote Access for Mac Mini

I recently bought a Mac Mini and set it up at home. It is running on Mac OS X 10.8.3, and runs on Server 2.2.1 and Airport Utilities 6.2. I would like to be able to access the Mac Mini server from outside my home. Does anyone know the procedure of setting up remote access (through SSH or VPN) without creating an internet domain name? Thanks!
I'm quite new to many of the Apple products, so it would be good if the answers are clearer and more detailed. Thanks!

As Barney-15E says, Back-to-My-Mac is the best option.
    After that, try TeamViewer.com
ssh can be done, but there are setup details with respect to your home router to allow port 22 from the Internet side to your Mac mini <http://portforward.com>.  And then you will need a dynamic DNS name from someone like No-IP.com or DynDNS.org so you can find your home router.  Once you have that setup, you should make sure you use a good strong password, as you have now exposed a known port to the internet <http://xkcd.com/936/> and <https://www.grc.com/haystack.htm>.  Don't forget to enable System Preferences -> Sharing -> Remote Login.  So now you can ssh, but what do you want to do with that?  You can create ssh tunnels for VNC screen sharing and AFP file sharing.
    ssh -L 22590:localhost:5900 -L 22548:localhost:548 [email protected]
Now you have logged in and you have 2 tunnels.  How to use them.
    Finder -> Go -> Connect to server -> vnc://localhost:22590
    Finder -> Go -> Connect to server -> afp://localhost:22548
    Back-to-My-Mac and/or TeamViewer.com are easier

  • Deperately need help setting up external midi devices

I need help setting up external midi devices.....Motu828...Midi express...RolandXV3080....Motif rack.......HELP

Theres not really much to setup. Assuming your synths are connected to the MIDI Express already..
In Logic, make a new MIDI track. On the left hand side in the track inspector, among the parameters you'll see an option for MIDI Port and Channel. Just pick which port the track is going to, set the channel and device id and play (And be glad you never had to deal with setting up the old Environment window in Logic 5 and below).
If you really wanna get into it and have all your MIDI ports named after the synth thats connected to it, open up Audio Midi Setup, create a device icon for each synth you have and draw the cables from each device to whatever port its connected to on the midi interface's icon.
Then in Logic everytime you pick your MIDI port on your track, instead of MIDI Port 1, MIDI Port 2, etc.,
it would be labelled XV-3080, Motif Rack, and so on.. I dont think theres anyway to do this within Logic itself (you can change the labels on your audio ins and outs, but not MIDI as far as I can recall)..
If youre talking about having access to patch names and whatnot like Digital Performer and Cubase let you do, Logic doesnt use the xml patch lists everyone else does. The above steps are pretty much all there is to be done as far as MIDI.
Heres my Audio Midi Setup window for reference.
Now when I select MIDI Port 1 in Logic its named MWXT, port 2 is SR-16, etc..

  • HOW TO?: Need help setting up 3 different iCloud accounts for my kids (so each has own iMessanger)using same Apple ID (mine) ....they don't have their own separate email addresses to work from...how do I do this?

Need help setting up 3 different iCloud accounts for my kids (so each has own iMessanger)using same Apple ID (mine) ....they don't have their own separate email addresses to work from...how do I do this?

Any devices connected to the same icloud account can sync all the data on that account.  For this reason an icloud account is really for a single user.
On a mac, if each user has their own account, then the itunes for that mac account should be set up to connect to that user's icloud account (System preferences>icloud).

  • Need help setting up and configuring rsync

    Hello
I need help setting up, or rather configuring rsync to sync data between my brand new iMac and my Macbook Air.
Here is what I would like to:
    - I want all of the files on both machines to be an exact mirror or copy of each other. Basically I have an iMac for at home, and then a Macbook Air for the road.
    - The main folder on both Macs is called 'Sara' and I want the contents (mainly the 'movies' folder, 'music' folder, 'documents' folder and 'pictures' folder) to immediately sync up with each other when both of them are on my home network.
    - this means if I'm working on a file at home on my Macbook, it will immediately write to the same directory on my iMac and vice versa (if I'm working on file(s) on my iMac, it will immediately save the contents to my Macbook). This way, if I'm working on last minute project my iMac, and then have to head out the door to the airport, the file is immediately saved to my Macbook (no usb for USB transfer).
    - hopefully this makes sense??
    Any help is greatly appreciated!
    Thanks

It's a lofty but unrealistic goal.  Rsync does not run automatically.  There is no realistic method of instantaneously synching two computers over the internet or even on a LAN.
I would suggest you might try using Synk Pro which, in theory, can keep two devices in sync when they are both on the same network (and both have shared and mounted drives.)
If you must do this with rsync then I suggest a Google search for rsync tutorials.

I need help setting up an apple id for my son's phone. It seems his email address has been taken and/or we cant get the password.

    Two different things
    If you forgot the password
If you forgot your Apple ID password - Apple Support
If the email ID you want to use is in use by someone else - then you may need a new one
The iCloud ID's are usually unique and may be of help if you set one up

  • Need help Setting up Multiple Static Ip , 1 for each port of the fios router

Need help Setting up multiple Static Ip on my fios router
I have been trying to figure out how to set up multiple ip in my fios router.
However I kind of managed how to set up multiple static ip However the way I want it is for each port of my router to have an external ip signed to it. ( like 4 different modem in 1 )
Verizon gave me 5 static ip but they can not help me how to set it up.
Have anyone here done more then one static ip on different ports? I assume that the process will be the after the second static ip.

You want to set up Static Nat. You will not assign the IP to a port, but rather to a local machine. Figure out what machines you want your IP's to go to. Under the firewall section you will see static nat. Pick the machine you want and enter one of the IP's you were assigned.
