Need help to open palm V files on 64 bit Win 7 i7

I have the synced Palm V files on a backup hard drive which I am trying to access on a new laptop, which has an i7 processor with 64-bit windows 7.
I tried to install the 4.1.4 desktop software but it errored out: Internal Error 2738.  I find pages addressing the error, but they all deal with Vista, not win7. I registered the dll anyway, but the installation still failed.
My goal is to be able to access the palm desktop files on the new computer -- I don't have the device with me and am not worried about syncing at this point.  What can I do?  Install a different version, even though the descriptions do not list Palm V as a compatible device?
Thanks for any assistance.
Post relates to: Palm V

Have you tried to Uninstall/Reinstall Palm Desktop?  Instructions for a Clean Uninstall (for Vista/XP) are also listed in the Windows HotSync stickies.  We've got to get Palm Desktop to open first!  Are you installing with Admin rights?  Once we get it to open, you can create a User account and find the directory to place the .dat file.
You could try downloading 4.1.4e from Palm.com and installing that version, or even 4.2 from my "Manual" link below.
I'm running Vista64 here, sorry I can't offer any first-hand Win7 knowledge...     Palm appears to have no interest in supporting PalmOS/Win7 as they are moving away from PalmOS devices to concentrate on webOS devices.

  • I need help to open an .idml file after translating it with Dejavu!

    Hi everybody,
    I'm not used to work with InDesign, I only have to check a big problem: I'm a translator and have been working the last 4 weeks on a InDesing-Projekt from German into Italian. I changed the format of the files from .indd into .idml an imported the three files into my Computer-Assisted-Translation Ptrogram DejaVu. I've been working well till now. Now I tried to export the first File and wanted to open the .idml file with Indesign... The program began to work, but then came a warning "syntax error". Please, is there anybody who knows the program better than I (the agency which should know everything about this kind of files gives up at the first problem)??? This is very important to me. I speak german an italian very good, my english is rudimental....
    Thank yopu and have a good day (tel. +49-(0)9208 588316)
    Alessandra

    Sorry for the delay, I had a lot of other stuff going on today. This kind of work is somewhat laborious so I put it off.
    I needed to send you the file, because I don't understand what you mean with opening the zip file and so on...
    An IDML file is just a .ZIP archive of a bunch of XML files.
    In this case, it turns out the problem is pretty obvious. Some story files, instead of containing valid XML, contain "MATTONELLE".
    Like this, in the Terminal on Mac OS X, but substitute as appropriate for Windows:
    $ ls -ld *idml
    -rw-r--r--@ 1 user    staff  4986668 Jun 16 12:26 KK_Preisliste 2011_1-120.idml

  • Need HELP! Opening a PDF file from different URL

    I have a application that links to viewpdf.class. This class file will go to the FTP where the pdf file is located and open it. How do i do this using java? Here is what I have.. .i'm stuck
    URL url = new URL("ftp://user01:[email protected]/"+ folder_name +"README.pdf;type=i");
    URLConnection urlc = url.openConnection();
    InputStream is = urlc.getInputStream();thanks Tony
    here is how it looks like if it is on the local host.
    import java.io.*;
    import java.util.*;
    import javax.servlet.*;
    import javax.servlet.http.*;
    public class viewpdf extends HttpServlet
        private ResourceBundle rb;
        public viewpdf()
            rb = ResourceBundle.getBundle("LocalStrings");
        public static void streamCopy(FileInputStream fileInputStream, ServletOutputStream servletOutputStream)
            throws IOException
            if(fileInputStream == null || servletOutputStream == null)
                return;
            byte abyte0[] = new byte[8192];
            int i;
            synchronized(fileInputStream)
                synchronized(servletOutputStream)
                    while((i = fileInputStream.read(abyte0)) != -1)
                        servletOutputStream.write(abyte0, 0, i);
        public void doGet(HttpServletRequest req, HttpServletResponse res)
            throws ServletException, IOException
            ServletOutputStream servletOutputStream;
            String filename;
            String output;
            FileInputStream fileInputStream;
            servletOutputStream = res.getOutputStream();
            res.setContentType("application/pdf");
            ServletContext servletcontext = getServletContext();
            filename = req.getParameter("file");
            String folder_code = req.getParameter("fold");
            try{
                filename = servletcontext.getRealPath(rb.getString("file_location")) + "/" + fold + "/" + file;
            fileInputStream = null;
            fileInputStream = new FileInputStream(file);
            streamCopy(fileInputStream, servletOutputStream);
            catch(FileNotFoundException e)
            filename = servletcontext.getRealPath(rb.getString("file_location")) + "/filenotfound.pdf";
            fileInputStream = null;
            fileInputStream = new FileInputStream(file);
            streamCopy(fileInputStream, servletOutputStream);
    }

    That servlet already is Java. And the servlet code isn't what "opens" the PDF, it's the browser that sends the request that does that. I'm assuming that when you say "open it" you mean to start up an instance of Adobe Acrobat and ask it to display the document.

  • Hello people, i need help to open a PX file extension, anyone?

    Have you tried "Paradox" by corel? that's what makes one type of .px extension apparently - but it seems there are several different types of .px files/extensions, used by different programs.
    Where/who did you get the files from - can you check with the user to see what they use?

    I'am able to open it with Notepad but i would like to know if there is any program that can open it, thanks.

    Hi,
    You may need to design the site again in older version OR may be copy and paste in place from new to old except what is new in the latest version.
    Hope that helps!

    Regards,
    Puneet Aggarwal

    Hi Puneet,
    What exactly are you trying to do? Can you describe where in the system you are doing it? There are different options....
    What about a document report with a link to the Web site URL you want to open?
    What about a read-only URL field on the document, populated with the URL you want to open?
    What about the desktop links channel?
    Lots of different ways to skin that cat (sorry cat lovers) ..your code looks like it might be the most difficult approach.

  • Need help to share Number/Pages file visa Mail option. Cannot do with iPad Air (iOS7)

    Need help to share Number/Pages file visa Mail option. Cannot do with iPad Air

    Oh, okay. After selecting the format I want to send, it says "creating... ". Then irrespective of the format I choose the message e.g. "creating spreadsheet" disappears, and so does the choice window (where I earlier chose Mail). I am taken back to the Numbers (or Page) where I had started from. Diavonex's note indicated that after "creating ... " stage I should be taken to an option where I can type in email address where I want to  send the  file, if I want to copy it to another address etc. I cannot arrive at that page - no matter whether I am working with Pages or Number, or which format I choose for the file to share !
    I will try to close as you have suggested and try. However, I have switched on and off several times by now, but nothing changed!
    Will look forward to any ideas to solve this !!!
    Thanks much!

  • Need help to open audios attached in a PDF file

    Hello
    I just need help. I have ordered a reviewer online that has audios and texts in a pdf file. I was told to download the latest adobe reader on my computer. I have done the same thing on my ipad mini. I am not so technical with regards to these things. Therefore I need help. I can access the audios on my computer but not on my ipad.
    I want to listen to audios with scripts or texts on them so i can listen to them when i am on the go. I was also informed that these files should work in any device. How come the audios doesnt work on my ipad.
    Please help me on what to do.
    Thanks

    Audio and video are not currently support on Adobe Reader. :-<
    You need to buy a PDF reader that supports them. My suggestion is PDF Expert from Readdle ($US 9.99)

  • Need help to start with some file and text manipulation

    Hello script mavens,
    I need help with starting a script that does the following:
    -within a base folder it takes an inventory (list?) of all the files (which happen to be image files).
    -creates a new folder inside the base folder and calls it imagesX where X increases by one every time the script is run
    -moves all the files into the images folder
    -within the base folder it creates a new text file and calls it imagesX.js
    -writes a "//-" into imagesX.js
    -then writes the list of filenames into the imagesX.js twice, separated by an empty line, and adds a semicolon to the end of each filename and saves imagesX.js
    -from a folder a level above the base folder it copies a file called index.html into the base folder and renames in indexX.html
    -in indexX.html it replaces a string "replaceThis" with "imagesX.js"
    The task is more complex but this would help me tremendously do the rest.
    If I am asking for too much on this forum please let me know

    This should get you started.
    The description of how you want to write the data isn't clear, but the rest should work (untested):
    property imageNum : 0 -- last used ImageNumber
    -- within a base folder it takes an inventory (list?) of all the files (which happen to be image files).
    -- get the folder:
    set baseFolder to (choose folder)
    -- now get the files within it:
    tell application "Finder"
    set fileList to every file of folder baseFolder as alias list
    end tell
    --creates a new folder inside the base folder and calls it imagesX where X increases by one every time the script is run
    tell application "Finder"
    set imageNum to imageNum + 1
    set newImageFolder to make new folder at baseFolder with properties {name:"images" & imageNum}
    -- moves all the files into the images folder
    move every file of folder baseFolder to newImageFolder
    --within the base folder it creates a new text file and calls it imagesX.js
    set textFile to (open for access file (baseFolder as text) & "images" & imageNum & ".js" with write permission)
    --writes a "//-" into imagesX.js
    write "//-" to textFile
    -- then writes the list of filenames into the imagesX.js twice, separated by an empty line, and adds a semicolon to the end of each filename and saves imagesX.js
    -- need more info here
    -- a blank line between each instance of the file name? or all file names, blank line, all file names again?
    -- an example, please
    close access textFile
    --from a folder a level above the base folder it copies a file called index.html into the base folder
    --and renames in indexX.html
    --in indexX.html it replaces a string "replaceThis" with "imagesX.js"
    -- the easiest way of doing this is to read the file and write a new copy with the changes - that's easier than changing it in situ:
    set indexHTML to (read file "index.html" of folder (container of baseFolder))
    set {oldTIDs, my text item delimiters} to {my text item delimiters, "replaceThis"}
    set indexHTML to text items of indexHTML
    set my text item delimiters to "imagesX.js"
    set indexHTML to indexHTML as text
    set my text item delimiters to oldTIDs
    set indexFile to (open for access file ("index" & imageNum & ".html") with write permission)
    write indexHTML to indexFile
    close access indexFile
    end tell

    How to open PDF documents in Adobe Reader for iOS (iPhone on iOS 7 version)

    Because it's not a frequently asked question, we do not have the Facebook section in the FAQ document.  Sorry about that.
    There is no direct way to get a PDF document shown in the Facebook window into Adobe Reader for iOS.  You need to go from (1) Facebook to (2) Safari (web browser), then to (3) Adobe Reader on iPhone (and iPad as well).
    In the Facebook page showing a PDF document, tap the Share icon in the bottom toolbar.
    Select "Open in Safari" from the menu that appears.
    In Safari, tap anywhere in the document to show the toolbar (below the top toolbar).
    Tap "Open in..." (label) in the toolbar.
    Tap "Open in Adobe Reader".
    Please let us know if it doesn't work for you.
