Need help with a few things in Photoshop CS4
1) When I change a photo, I click to save, up pops the JPEG Options box, which has been set to 12 since last year. Today, it suddenly changes itself to 6 for no good reason. Each and every photo I change, I have to now tell it 12, not 6. How do I get it back to 12, and get it to stay there??? How/why did it change itself in the first place?
2) How can I view photos and select the ones I want to go to the lab? In previous CS versions, I could view large thumbnails, and use the flag feature. I can't seem to find out how to do that, within Bridge.
3) When I pull a lot of photos up, say 50, in Photoshop, and try to float them all to view them, it won't let me, says I have too many windows open, and to close some so it can float the remaining ones. This is retarded. Without floating, the images numbers are all stuck together in a line on that top bar, and I have to click each number to see the image, but I can only see maybe 6 images total, unless I close them one by one, which is then replaced with a different image. Any suggestions on how to undo this feature altogether? I always love "new features" that makes everything 20 times as hard as it was before. Great thinking.

For #2, adjusting the size wasn't the problem. It was flagging them to sort them. I found out that in CS4, it has a different name other than flagging.
For #3, I have tons of memory. 4 gb on a quad core computer. It's maddening that when the images are open, they're in those stupid boxes, very hard to work with. Free floating is so much easier. But if I say to float them, it won't. It just says too many are open. Well, they're ALREADY open. I just now want to FLOAT them. But it won't do it. Maybe if I have 20 or 30 open, then it'll float them.

Anytime I select Vibrance to adjust the color of an image. The whole image turns Pink in the highlights when the slider is moved from "0" to - or + in value. Can the Vibrance tool be reset to prevent this from happening? When this happens I cn not make adjustments...just turns Pink.

Yes, that does reset to “0” and the Pink does disappear.
But as soon as I move the slider +1 or -1 or higher the image turns Pink in all of the highlights again, rather than adjusting the overall color.

Just Switched To Mac's and Need Help With A Few Issues!
Hi All,
I finally did it and switched to a Mac!! Never thought it would happen as I always felt guilty about the cost but after 5 laptops crashing on me - well, I just could not take it anymore! I managed to get a fairly good deal on a 15" Macbook Pro - 2.2/120GB version. I still don't know much about the mac way but am trying to learn so any help would be appreciated!
1). Is there any kind of video tutorial (preferably free!) that I can use that will help me learn the Ma OS X? I have Tiger 10.4.11 on my MBP (Did you hear that - MY MBP!!!)
2). AOL Assured me that they fully support Mac before I purchased (only 5 times!) but after I had bought it - they then told me that they do not! I got the AOL disk for Mac but it kind of ***** - features are missing etc. Does anyone in the UK run their Mac's with AOL and does it run as per normal? Any advice with AOL & Mac?
3). AOL also told me - hey, no probs - of course you can transfer all your old emails, favourites folders, personal filing cabinet from a PC to a Mac - but then, after I bought it - the so called dedicated Mac Experts at AOL tell me that simply is not possible - What advice can anyone give me who has switched from PC to Mac with AOL and who needed to transfer all their stuff over? AOL tells you totally different things depending on who you talk to and even from what their web page state! I am really fed up with them!
4). If I am ever successful in getting all my many years worth of data from AOL on a PC to a Mac, I am really intent of changing ISP's - what are the best ones for Mac that offer good Mac support, good deals and no charges for telephone support?
5). I was initially happy with Tiger as again, AOL assured me they supported it but not Leopard (even their website says so) and as I stupidly thought that it must be true (we are talking AOL here!). Now I know that they don't support anything Mac, I am contemplating moving to Leopard - I am a little cautious as I heard there were/are many bugs and unhappy leopard experiences - have the majority of these been solved yet and is it advisable to change to Leopard or should I wait until an updated version comes out?
6). My MBP was originally bought in the US but is registered to my name in the UK. it has 6 months Apple warranty left and I wish to buy Applecare. Apple says it 'recommends' buying Applecare in the country at which the item is registered (not bought, as I understand it). Does that mean, if I buy Applecare in the USA, Apple UK will still accept it and service my MBP as they would do any other or will I have to have the hassle of sending the thing to the USA if it needs attention? Applecare USA T&C's state only for the 50 States & Canada and Applecare UK state only for the UK & EU. Both however state international servicing?! I am a bit confused on this one. I travel a lot and need to know, that any Applecare I buy will not then be limited to just the places they state in the T&C's. As It reads to me, Applecare purchased in the USA/Canada will not cover the UK/Europe/ROTW and vice versa. Is this true or am I missing something or just plain thick?
5). I really wish to upgrade the 120GB HDD. My understanding is that it must be done by either Apple (who charge really silly money) or if correct, at an "Authorized Apple Service Provider" who of course will be much cheaper. If true, does this mean at ANY authorized apple service provider on the planet or just ones in which the item is registered? If I do the upgrade with a service provider, will Apple then also service the new HDD if something goes wrong as per normal anywhere in the world or will they then say, sorry, will not service the new HDD and you have to go back to the place where you had it installed, even though it was one of their authorized service centers? (that would really suck)!
6). The spelling and dictionary (and a few other things) are set to US English - how can I set to UK English? I have tried but to no avail so far.
7) What and how should I set the Firewall settings so I will not get attacks by any form of malware? (I do not know much about this area and what the implications mean)!
Well, that's it so far - please bear my ignorance, I am so new to Mac's and hope this to be one of the smarter decisions I have made in life! Already I have strange sensation that I never had with all those years of Microsoft & PC's - I kinda feel reassured, safe, that if I have problems, they will get sorted, My life will now be easier and not having to worry so much about crashes, viruses, trojans etc, gives me a sense of liberation and contentment almost - very strange feeling but a **** good one! (if only the women in my life were like that)!

SuaveBhav!I can help you with your questions about AppleCare, and can also reassure you that both the macbook pro and Leopard will be worth your investment and the time you are putting into figuring out how to get your data across. I switched from windows when I bought my macbook a year and a half ago and would not use any other system now. The other day I completed the transition by erasing parallels and Windows from my system entirely.
As for AppleCare, you can get warranty care anywhere in the world, no matter where you buy your AppleCare. Mine was bought and is registered in the US, I live in Slovakia, and have had it serviced several times in Austria and Slovakia under the warranty without any problems at all. There are differences, however, in exactly what the warranty covers from place to place, in accordance with the law in each place that AppleCare is issued. Even though I live in the EU, my agreement with Apple is an American one, and the American guarantees hold. If EU law would demand that Apple fix more things, for instance, than American law does, I could not get those things repaired under my agreement, and vice versa.
Basically, though, I understand my agreement with AppleCare to be that they will fix all problems/damage that are not my fault free of charge for two years after my initial one-year warranty runs out, and that is good enough for me. -
Need help with a Silent Installer for Photoshop Elements 10
I can't seem to get the silent installer working. I've used the Elements 9 instructions for 10 but I still get pop-ups requesting info:

I need help with alot of things
ok, first off, whenever I am trying to type a message in a thread, it has no problem putting my message in, I just can't see it because my scree shifts to the top left corner. Even now, every time I reposition my scree and begin to type, it automatically throws the screen to the top left. Why does my Pixi do this? Next, I downloaded some ringtones, and attempted to set them for my text message alert. I went to preferences and accounts, it plays there, but is dead silent whenever a text comes in. The defaults work fine, but not my downloads. Also, whenever I get a picture message, the text that accompanies the message doesn't show, just the picture. My notification shows a text, but whenever I view the text message, blamo! Just picture. And lastly, I don't know if this is a part of the phone settings, but it doesn't tell me when every message is sent. Can this be fixed? Can any of it? I have a =alm =ixi from Verizon, and at first I thought it was great, but now it's really starting to tick me off.. Any help? Please?

It sounds like you've asked several questions, and I'll try to answer them in order.
1) Screen 'jumping' when typing in a forum: This is generally because the page you have visited is not coded for mobile websites.
2) Downloaded ringtones not working: How did you download the ringtones? Through email or text messages? If so, these tones are streamed from the message, not downloaded to your device. To use an .mp3 as a ringtone, you need to use USB mode to move the .mp3 from your PC to the device. Also, for the text tone, only the first 1-2 seconds of the tone or song will be used, so if it starts with silence, that's all you're likely to get.
3) Picture mail text not showing: Have you tried scrolling down below the picture to make sure the text that accompanies the picture is not below the picture?
4) Sent message timestamp: There is a timestamp for the current day within the Messaging Application, but after the current day, the exact time of the sent message is not saved.
If any of your concerns are not answered, please let us know, and go into a little more detail so we can be of further assistance.

I NEED HELP WITH KERNEL ERROR THINGS
So...yesterday I was on the Apple website looking up why my computer shuts off randomly and I was going to download new firmwear but it said that I needed to download Mac OS X 10.4.8 first...(I have Mac OS X 10.4.6) So I started to download it and I left the room. When I came back to check on the progress it had turned off and whenever I try to turnit back on it says "You need to restart your computer. Hold down the Power button for several seconds or press the restart button" and in the background it says:

'Reboot while depressing C' means that you put the OSX DVD 1 that came with your Mac into the optical drive; restart your Mac from the Apple-Menu and during the restart hold down the 'C'-key on your keyboard.
That way your Mac is not booted from the internal harddisk but from the OSX DVD.

Need help with doing two things at once
hey all!
i'm trying to write a program where the user has twenty seconds to guess the houshold item. every five seconds the pc gives a clue, if the user manages to guess it in time, they win! else...
anyway, my compiler comes up with nothing but when i execute it and press "go" to start the process, the program does what it is meant to exept for at the end where it always displays "you lose" regardless of anything that has happened.i'm not sure what i'm doing wrong.

Need help with window drawing thing
Hi all,
This program moves a circle around a screen. It used to work, even in the full screen mode that I have made it in. However, the contents of windowClass that set the attributes of the window (size, full screen, etc) used to be in the run() method of the main class. When I moved them to the windowClass class to tidy up the code, the program for some reason no longer paints the contents of the 'artwork' object to the screen. The KeyEvents still work, and everything. I can't figure out why, because this change was the only one I made between the program working and not working - I have not changed anything relating to the container or artwork at all.
In case you have not figured out yet this is an application, not an applet.
Sorry about the lack of programming notes, this program was just intended as a quick test and while I was writing it I did not see the need. (from the name you can see it started off as a test of KeyEvents but went a little further) If nobody can follow then I will put them in, but I would rather not because that takes time.

device.setFillScreenWindow(...)
makes the frame visible, so changes to the content pane are not updated automatically, you have to do a content.validate() to make sure that the changes are applied if it is already visible. By resetting the window's content pane content.validate() must be called...
So you could do several things:
1) do the window.setContentPane(content); like I did before,
2) do a content.validate(); after you add drawing to it...
3) move device.setFullScreenWindow(...) from the constructor to run
method after you set up the content pane... -
Need help with cleening text during ExportAllStories (JS-CS4)
I have altered the ExportAllStories.jsx script for CS4 to export the selected TextFrame(s).
The main function are the same as in the original.
It works fine, but I need advice on how to clean the text before it gets exported to a text file.
I have tried to pass the TextFrame object myStory, as in the original script, to a function like this:
myStory = cleantext(myStory)
The function cleantext works with a text string passed to it,like this:

s.replace(/\u2011/g,'-');
I guess I have to extract the myStory object to a text string but haven’t succeeded yet.
Maybe the solution is to do some search and replace with GREP or other techniques?
All tips on how to proceed would be appreciated.This is how i solved my problem.

Need help with the Vanishing Point filter in CS4...
While using the vanishing point filter, everytime I paste an image onto the grid and try to move it into place, photoshop blows up and shuts down. I have tried restarting photoshop, restarting my computer, copy/paste layers from file into a new file, deleting old file/starting new, & reset the preferences upon starting Photoshop - none of which solved the issue. Is anyone familiar with this error? Can you help? Thanks.

Need help with IE6 box drop problem DW CS4
Having a problem with this page: http://www.recoverings.com/tarzan.html in IE6. Maincontent drops below the sidebar menu. Looks fine in FF, Safari, IE7.
All other pages work well. I assume that this has something to do with the width of the .wrapnail and .thumbnail divs, but reducing the margins doesn't seem to help and the images start to get too close together. What am I missing here?
Can someone help me solve this?
I would also appreciate any suggestions on cleaning up my CSS. Seems like I have an awful lot of stuff in there. Maybe it's okay but could it be cleaner?

PhilIE bug Float Drop is fairly common. Make sure your page wrapper division is wider than the combined width of left sidebar + main content + left & right borders if any. If that doesn't help, add an overflow: hidden rule to your floated container and make sure you have cleared both floats.

Need help with XML Compatibility between CS3 and CS4
I'm not a Dreamweaver guru but I am hoping someone will recognize my issue and be able to provide meaningful feedback.
Background:
A developer buddy and I are working together to create a new home page for an online retailer that utilizes flash banners. We're using XML to update the content of the banners. My buddy is creating the XML file and sending it to me to populate with content (i.e. descriptions, images, image paths, etc.). He is creating the XML file in CS3 and I am editing in CS4. Here's the issue: Whenever he uploads the populated XML file to the server the banners are displayed correctly. If I take the same file and upload it without editing, it works great. However, if I open the file, edit and resave before uploading to the web server, the the banners all have extra spaces between each line of content - almost as if it were double spaced. If you look at the code, the code looks fine. In fact, the code looks exactly like it did when my buddy sent the file to me. I believe we have isolated the problem to something weird with my installation of DW. I have downloaded and installed any and all updates. Oh yeah he's using a MAC version and I am using the PC version of DW.
Has anyone seen anything like this before???

The code is listed below and to tell you the truth the following code is both good and bad. As I mentioned before, if my buddy sends me this xml file and I upload it to the server, it works fine. If I open the file and immediately save it without making any changes then upload it, I experience the previously described promblem. It's very strange. The code in both files is identical.
To get a clearer picture of what I am describing, go to http://www.everythingministry.com/beta3.htm. The book descriptions appear correctly under the "New and Recommended" tab. However, whenever I edit any one of the six xml files that control the content for each of these tabs it ends up looking like what you currently see under the "New Music" tab. I have actually tried to update from 2 different machines running DW CS4.

Need help with Vietnamese Text in Adobe Premiere CS4
I just switch from PC to Mac and using Adobe CS4 to edit. Most of my client required Vietnamese Text for their wedding movies. On PC is very easy to type vietnamese text right on Adobe Premiere titles but in Mac is not. Anyone knows how to type vietnamese text in Premiere on Mac Please help. Thanks very much
Try resetting your preferences.
Easiest way I know is just delete the entire Preferences folder. Make sure PP and AME are both closed.
If you have workspaces you want to save - not have to rebuild - then drag the entire Prefs folder out of Program Files.
When you restart PP it will build a new prefs folder. You can then - one by one - import the saved workspaces from your old Prefs folder (and whatever else you want).
