Need help with Os X Mountain Lion Installation

I have a Macbook Pro (early 2011) 2.3Ghz and Everytime I boot up my macbook this Os X Mountain Lion screen pop up but when I try to install it. A message pop up saying ‘"temperaly unavailable try again ‘later" and sometimes "please contact apple care". I need help getting pass this installation so I can start using My macbook pro. Can someone help me?

Have you downloaded the Mountain Lion installer from the App Store? It is a stand alone application.

Because I need to install a software program that requires Lion or higher, I decided to upgrade my Macbook Pro from Snow Leopard to Lion today. I chose Lion rather than Mountain Lion because of the bad reviews I read about Mountain Lion...
The installation failed and I got the message "Hard disk is damaged and can't be repaired."
I can boot the computer in "safe" mode, but not in normal mode.
I do not have the original installation disk that came with the computer, but I tried booting with an installation disk that came with a MacBook. That did not work.

I have a Time Machine backup on an external hard drive. Should I purchase a SnowLeopard or Lion bootable disk from Apple? And reformat drive? And then install Lion?
I would really appreciate any insight or advice anyone can give me. I have owned about 25 different macs since 1984, and this is the first time I have had a problem like this

Assuming your really mean storage space, you need to dlete some items from your iPod. Also when you connect the iPod to its syncing computer go to the Summary pane for the iPod in iTunes and look at the distribution of the storage usage. If the "other" category, is greater than 0.5 GB, you can reduce that by restoring your iPod. Sometimes restoring from backup is required.

What to do? This message keeps on prompting on each attempt to install os x mountain lion. "This copy of the Install OS X Mountain Lion application can't be verified. It may have been corrupted or tampered with during downloading." Even after deletion of the os x and re-installation, the same message keeps on prompting. Thank you for your help.

Try repairing your hard drive. If the hard drive is corrupt, that could be corrupting the download.
If that's not the problem, it could be that your internet connection is bad, and is corrupting the download. Try a different network.

Help with backup of Mountain Lion & upgrade to Mavericks

I am contemplating an upgrade to Mavericks from Mountain Lion 10.8.5 on my iMac i5 with a 1TB HD (500 GB available) and 8GB memory.
Before doing so, I would like to make sure I can revert if necessary and thinking of possibly using Carbon Copy Cloner to clone my HD onto a Lacie 3TB external HD.
Can someone make suggestions about preparing the 3TB HD? Should I use the 3TB HD strictly for CCC? Or is it of sufficient size to partition the drive to share between CCC and Time Machine? (Partition size suggestions would be helpful if that's a recommended way to go).
I have never used CCC and have not yet purchased it, so if there's any other suggestions for someone not too computer savvy, they would be appreciated. I am not currently using Time Machine, but wouldn't mind the extra safety.
Awhile back I read some unhappy posts on the new Pages & Numbers programs, so I would also like to keep my current Pages & Numbers versions for now.

You must first create a new partition on the LaCie. The partition should be a few GBs larger than the total amount of space used on your internal drive.
To resize the drive do the following:
1. Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
After the main menu appears select Disk Utility and click on the Continue button. Select the hard drive's main entry then click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
2. You should see the graphical sizing window showing the existing partitions. A portion may appear as a blue rectangle representing the used space on a partition.
3. In the lower right corner of the sizing rectangle for each partition is a resizing gadget. Select it with the mouse and move the bottom of the rectangle upwards until you have reduced the existing partition enough to create the desired new volume's size. The space below the resized partition will appear gray. Click on the Apply button and wait until the process has completed. (Note: You can only make a partition smaller in order to create new free space.)
4. Click on the [+] button below the sizing window to add a new partition in the gray space you freed up. Give the new volume a name, if you wish, then click on the Apply button. Wait until the process has completed.
You should now have a new volume on the drive.
You can now clone your system to the new partition:
Clone Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion using Restore Option of Disk Utility
     1. Select the destination volume from the left side list.
     2. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
     3. Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it
         to the Destination entry field.
     4. Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to
         the Source entry field.
     5. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the new partition on the LaCie backup drive. Source means the internal startup drive.

Help with computer and Mountain Lion

I am running Snow Leopard on my iMac but cannot upgrade to Mountain Lion because my computer was purchased in early 2007. Is there any way to get the iCloud for this computer?

If your Mac meets the following requirements you can upgrade to Lion:
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
2GB of memory
OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
7GB of available space
However Lion is not available directly from the Mac App Store, having been replaced by Mountain Lion, but you should be able to get it by ringing 1-800-MY-APPLE if you're in the USA, or the number given at bottom left of this page for other countries.

Hard Drive Crash - need help with choosing new drive and installation

My hard drive seems to have crashed. My computer froze, and when I tried to reboot, it got stuck at the startup screen. I started from the system CD, ran the disk repair utility, and it said it could not repair the disk. I ran Tech Tool Pro and it could not repair the disk. I tried to start up in Target disk mode while connected to my older G4 iMac (that I'm using now as my backup), and the disk would not mount. So I need some expert advice - I am assuming the hard drive is toast. I wish I could at least mount it in target disk mode to transfer files, but I haven't been able to do that. I was going to take it in for repair (or possibly buy a new computer), but after reading some of the posts here, I am thinking I could just replace the internal hard drive with a 3.5" SATA drive.
What I need to know is am I correct about this? And is this the right kind of drive for my iMac? Are there any specifications I need to be aware of when ordering a new drive? I downloaded the manual explaining how to replace the drive and it looks doable. I would appreciate any guidance as to choosing the new drive (specific brand names/models would be great), installing the drive, and tips for formatting, etc. Thanks in advance for your help!

Welcome to Discussions - any 3 1/2" SATA drive will be fine, go to [macsales.com] or [smalldog.com] or [newegg.com] and choose whichever drive fits your wallet. Most of them are reliable, I have heard of problems with Seagate and Hitachi, but there are always some failures with any brand. Make sure to get a good warranty.Instructions will come with the drive, but you can download them from [Apple|http://www.apple.com/support/manuals/imac> as well.

Need help with Automating Printer and LPR installation

I work for someone who has a need for automating the print installation of LPR print port to mac laptops. Obviously this will need to cover anything OS X 10.3 and above. All of this needs to be done command line via a batch file of sorts.
I am a windows and Linux guy, however I just bought a Mac and starting to like the new Leopard OS and the capabilities of boot camp.
What I need:
1) how to install LPR port to the laptop
2) installing a printer from a some sort of cab file with correct port and drivers. (in windows we use print migrator, however the cab files we use for windows will obviously not work with different port types and drivers)
3) finally some clean up type script that will clean up any temp files I had to create or such.
I kind of need this soon so if anyone knows how or could point me in the right direction. It would be greatly appreciated.

If you force restart the computer on the freeze up, or force quit the printer adding window, does the printer appear in the print and scan system preference? In other words, did the printer successfully install? (is it possible that the setup part of the install failed, but the actual install worked?)
If so, you might be able to set the configurations yourself.
Open up the print and scan system preference. Double click on the printer.
When the printer queue window opens up, you should be able to click on the printer setup button.
Go through all the tabs and set things up the way you like.

Help With Pages in Mountain Lion OSX

I have two IDs on my Mac. When using one, I am able to utilize the Cloud functionality on Pages and Numbers; on the other ID it looks just like the old Pages and Numbers - i.e. I don't see Cloud? I am using two different Apple IDs. All other functions work on both (calendar, email, etc.) Any reason?

You are right, it takes List indenting but the Ruler margins are immovable.
Guess there is a reason why this is called iWork for iCloud beta.
A note for those professing that Apple has provided cross platform tools that supposedly "just work".
This is just one of the predictable examples of why that is not true.
There are quite a few Online Applications which do work and work well. Apple's are not one of them. I have reasonably fast Internet but the most striking thing about iWork for iCloud is not just what doesn't work but what does is is excruciatingly slow.

Where can I find my mountain lion installer included with 2012 mac mini

I just bought a 2012 mac mini and I want to install mountain lion on an SSD that I bought separately. Where can I find the mountain lion installer file to create a bootable USB install drive? When I go to the mac app store, mountain lion is not listed in my purchases and when I try to buy it, it says "We could not complete your purchase. OS X Mountain Lion is not compatible with this computer." It's already installed on the mac mini, I just need the installer file so I can install it on my SSD.

Follow any of the internet instructions to create a ML USB thumb drive.
I tried this method, and while it did get me the installer image, when I restored it to an external and tried to use it to restore a Late 2012 Mac Mini, I got the same "No" symbol I did with other ML installers.

Help needed upgrading my OSx to Mountain Lion

My Macbook tells me the HD does not use GUID file system so I can upgrade my downloaded Mountain Lion. Im currently on 10.6.8.
I have tried to use disk utility to change this but no option exists. I verified the disk and it stopped saying disk needs a repair (file numbers are mismatched?) I do not have a dvd startup disc also. Any suggestions??

EDIT: I thought you said you had the disk. I misread it. You'll have to contact Apple to get a replacement. There is nothing you can do without it.
They'll need your Mac's Serial Number.
What type Macbook Pro is it? You can find that in the System Information, Hardware overview. Open About this Mac and then choose More Info.
You must repartition the disk, which requires erasing everything on it.
So, you will need to back up your data using Time Machine or some other backup program. Also, make sure you back up the Mountain Lion installer so you don't have to download again.
Then, use your install disk to boot.
Once you select the language for the installer, select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
Select the hard disk (identified by manufacturer and size, usually).
Click the Partition Tab.
Set it for 1 partition (not current even if it was only 1 to begin with).
Click the Options button.
Set it to GUID partition table.
Click Ok to exit the options.
Set the format to Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
Set the Volume name to whatever you'd like (Macintosh HD is the norm).
Click Apply. It will warn you that everything will be erased.
After it is done, exit Disk Utility and continue the installation.
When the Startup Manager runs after installing, you can choose to migrate from your backup at this point (probably the best option), or wait until you have installed Mountain Lion. If you wait, don't use your old account name for the account you set up initially. It makes migration messy if you do.
Once installed, use Software Update to update to 10.6.8.
Then, copy the Mountain Lion installer into you Applications folder and run it. It should now let you upgrade.

I recently received a laptop from school to access my online classes. When I tried to use Adobe Reader I received the following message: Adobe Reader 9.1 has encountered a problem and needs to close. Sorry for the inconvenience. I tried tech support at school and was told to uninstall and reinstall the program. During the installation process I received the following error: Error 1321 The installer has insufficient privileges to modify the file C:/Program Files/Adobe/Reader 9.0/Reader/Onix32dll. I need this program for school. Can some one please help me.

It's my pleasure to provide assistance when I can :•) Having just recently graduated after 7 years of effort just to get a 2-year degree, I can relate to needing software to get class work accomplished. I will do everything I can to make it happen for you today.
Since you didn't mention, the UAC setting, I'd like you to disable it for me if it isn't already:
1. Open Control Panel
2. Under User Account and Family settings, click on the "Add or remove user account"
3. Click on any user account
4. Under the user account click on the "Go to the main User Account page" link.
5. Under "Make changes to your user account", click on the "Change security settings" link
6. In the "Turn on User Account Control (UAC) to make your computer more secure" click to unselect the "Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer". Click on the Ok button.
7. You will be prompted to reboot your computer - do so when ready
You may need to uninstall/reinstall Reader after the reboot in order for the problem to go away, but that part I am not certain of. Try to duplicate the issue prior to taking that step.
If you are unable to resolve issues with Adobe Reader, I recommend using a different reader that has much less bloat and is updated regularly:

The same holds true for open source alternatives except the manufacturer usually helps support their forums while Adobe doesn't monitor this forum or any like it. Incognito mode is a Google Chrome setting when you open a new window (Cmd+Shift+N on a Mac Ctrl+Shift+N on Windows) It opens a "private" window with no cookies and no tracking. The problem with it is that when you disable cookies, your license files are not sent to the site (whetehr it's YouTube or xFinity or any other that uses license files for paid content) and it treats you as if you're a first time visitor. Paid videos won't play wihtout the cookies sending the license file info.
This isn't a Flash Player setting. It's in Chrome. I did some research and according to Google, "Incignito" mode is off by default, and can ONLY be activate by the keyboard shortcut. There IS a way to disable it from the registry http://dev.chromium.org/administrators/policy-list-3#IncognitoModeAvailability
